time our topic is going to be on tribes and actually if I'm not mistaken we had so many tribes we have 12 tribes and Chronicles of Illyria that we felt like there was just far too many questions and too much information to tell you guys in a single Q&A so over the next little while to be are we to do it on weekly do we know yet um have an another yes okay so over the upcoming something run announced interval of time we're going to be rolling out multiple of these q and A's each one is going to cover about three to four of the different tribes that way we have an opportunity to go in greater depth on each of them in today's Q&A we're going to be focusing on the the three tribes that we've released information on so far that being the Narron the frothy and the brewed beer not to mention the approach to tribes in general we've alluded to it a couple of times in q and A's past but might not have watched those or we can go into a lot more detail there is also thread on let's write the creation process yeah so we got a lot of really good questions it's been a super busy week for us this week with the tribe stuff with potential hires coming in the office and other cool things all very exciting but the end result is that we didn't get a chance to call down the questions as we normally would the last couple of weeks and so what we're going to be doing is is following a similar format to what we used to do basically we're going to have our isin gonna be reading guys we're gonna have our new senior community producer who is behind the scenes right now he's going to be reading the questions roughly in order of the most up voted to least up voted and then we are going to answer them live yes but since we don't have them cold out in advance he's going to do a page by page so even if you had a very high up voted post don't be surprised if it's not answered in the first round of questions if I showed up on a later later page joining me today as usual I've got Miguel Zozo Sierra on here on my left our technical designer and world builder am i right I have if I just leave it at bye bye our senior producer who's a guest director of production yeah all right cool um so that's good what about me and we've got Jeremy Caspian Walsh CEO creative director technical director businessman extraordinaire all around cool guy you didn't dance that was the whole point there we go alright so uh we're here to talk to you today like I said but before we get into that stuff I want to hand it over to bye as usual you guys have been sending in some amazing stuff into our peel box and so we wanted to share with you some of the things that we've we've been sent yeah I headed up we got some some really cool things that I mean we got apple juice we've drank apple juice before on on camera on camera and some of you found out that we like apple juice through that and hanging out with us in discord so we got some apple juice right so it says I don't count on the fronts clearly a petition okay you can see that now it says apple juice okay but I think some he's a verifying whether it actually is that I'm pretty sure it's our blue sweetie this is Melly apple juice great Sam what is this it's apple juice obviously clearly I hope I'm not being poison right now I actually have no I checked the seal no it it seems pretty it's apple juice okay sorry so so we got that thank you we like apple juice yes right apple juice uh we also got a mason jar that says not all who wander are lost which is a great sentiment and so those of you who understand the metaphor here there's also a world map and there's gold coins inside appears that's because the gold coins are part of the stanza all that is gold is not glitter yes that's actually the whole thing is from the riddle of Strider for those who don't know that so it's a Lord of the Rings reference not just writer the Japanese behavior they are also chocolate coins so we may be eating them on set and they will probably be much cuter by the time that the next cue they happen there's a couple missing from here already already my hand was slapped I wasn't allowed to eat anymore until we actually had them on set so that it didn't look like there was only one yes and we also got oh I mean the stuff came from the town of Dahlia Kingdom with the Ashland and we say all the time it's helluva Dahlia what were traumatic the town of Dahlia kingdom of Ashland fantastic are people a song yeah they they made this for us yep which is like handcrafted looks really cool it's apparently uh could be used as a basic will folder a votive holder the only limit is our imagination and it was a wine is converted wine bottle yeah they actually cut and then see to the bottom of the bottle it's it's better I'd like to believe they cut it with a good karate chop yeah I got that Shh yes so this comes from from Ken drienne the mayor of mayor of Dahlia Mara Dahlia and all the good people of ashlynn and me thank you that's what that was it was definitely a romantic character voice to try and agree me it's also a great place that's a great place that's at all I mean we got this awesome candle that kind of looks like a spider for reasons could be in it you know it's because of her that was I clearly to her actual spider clan as well as a sealed note which we haven't actually opened every Megan I know I kind of don't want to open it because it's actually you can't see it because it's green on cannot your favor if you're gonna send us a sealed envelope send us another envelope with the seal on it so we at least have one envelope with the seal still intact there's nothing worse to me then ruining a perfectly awesome seal right it's so they can do it no I think I can get it might be able to with steam or you very much you know who you are hey do is count as vegan I think they do okay guys well let's go ahead and get started the first time you're gonna have heard Kaizen on on screen I guess but we will work our way through the questions we'll do the best we can to answer them is there anybody checking discord or the I guess that we just join a through twitch stream yeah Torey is probably checking it as well yeah all right well I'll try and do follow-up questions as best we can otherwise let's let's do it let's see what people have to say real quick though we just posted the brewed beer stuff about a half hour ago so if you are watching this stream and you haven't seen the brewed beer right up yet definitely check that out I'm not going to pause for you to go do that I'm good for just like a second okay so now if you've read it great if not then make sure to check that out afterwards otherwise I'm sure a lot of the questions we have today are going to be more focused on the the Narron and the harathi just because they got those a little bit earlier and the general approach which is hopefully what we get a chance to answer the most because I think as you'll see from reading over multiple write-ups now that while each of the tribes are unique they have their own biome they have their own food supply to have all these different things that are unique to them their own religions and cultural beliefs and their own societies and how they structure the the language in schools and military they're all different we follow the same approach for all of them and so if people focus their questions kind of on general then we'll be able to answer them directly if you dig into the individual details of the tribes that's great specifically the tribes that we are talking about today but hopefully it should be obvious kinda from the rest of them so even if you didn't read the the proveer one yet if you kind of know what you wanted to ask about them it's either in the document or we can answer it yeah yeah so alright let's do it okay Kaizen all right the first question we have here is will all tribes be present on the starting continents hmm the answer that is probably not no yeah we're as you know procedurally generating the world and the continent is going to be at different latitudes depending upon the server and so some of them may end up being more polar latitudes either top or bottom in which case it's likely to have the colder climates and less likely to have the tropical climates whereas others are likely to be central in which case they're more likely to have the Trop go like the Midori that are less likely to have the Euro or maybe even the broodmare so not all the servers are going to start on that continent with all the tribes however all the servers will be exposed to all the tribes so their exploration and discovery you will get a chance to meet all of them dude is there a minimum amount of tribes that they can expect on a starting camp to comment even if not all tried twelve tribes are represented well one yeah that's definitely them at least one probably two I think what we're looking at right now is around eight tribes I think eight of the twelve will probably be the most typical we might get as much as nine but I think in almost all of them there's going to be three probably but aren't there depending upon where that I sell for five though I don't think we need to go that low they're actually hating you right now they're I'm sure they're virtually throwing tomatoes at you for cutting the number of tribes down on the starting comment and say be is so awesome anyways so there you go next question we have here is will some tribes have genetic or environmental predispositions towards influencing whether or not a member of that tribe has a certain kind of talent or trait influencing one I see what they're asking like what the predisposition is like also can you guys hear Kaizen okay just make sure I want to make sure that you guys get the back you guys do know okay okay so the question was is whether or not there's anything about the tribe that influences a predisposition toward the talents like your ability to get a talent yeah we did briefly discuss the gyro yes remember but I don't we never discussed that beyond beyond beyond the initial you never um so I guess the answer to that question answer at this point the point is no yeah we did talk about it with specifically the the gyro tribe you'll learn more about them probably in the next update because that's gonna be one of the next ones we do so I would argue the talents talents are tied to the Akashic records right and so that doesn't matter when it comes to the tribes for the most part like the Akashic records are beyond the mortal veil you will yes yeah but for your information the reason why we were discussing with your is they have something that makes them story unique because of their biome and we thought that giving them a higher percentage chance of this talent would be valuable even so far as making some members of their tribe a specific social class I don't wanna dive into it too much what's what's enough yeah we're not talking about the or go ahead but at this point no tribes are not affecting do not affect your likelihood of receiving a talent we'll all tribes recover or lose fatigue faster or slower compared to other tribes for example would one tribe get more fatigued than another performing the same acts such as mining or farming yes right no it's no no well I mean the ones that are predisposed to doing those things are going to be able to do it with less fatigue loss than the others okay so yes is that with my mother another saying are they all the same oh no no they were 'saying are any of them different oh yeah they're all different yes yes oh yes yes very into the short answer is yes a predisposition for different types of crafting procession professions as well as the biome that you're in will dictate how much fatigue you lose in some cases I think we've already shown that in the case of was it the brewery or the Roth II one of them there's the acclamation climate the brewed beer are acclimated to colder climates right and so they lose less fatigue when in the colder environments and property and then Aaron do right so here's a question about languages Oh baby well children born of two tribes know both languages from the start like growing up in the house with both languages in this being bilingual I would say yes don't say yes that's one of the best parts of being low or biracial right or tri or quad right what is 12 quad racial what does that mean Jack our parents no it just means you've got bloodlines from both sets I would say that it only works on a dominant basis yeah you like having four languages and then ten languages because I haven't a rate with all them like I have one fifth this perhaps so another way to think of the question is will you inherit the languages of your parents yeah I would say yes well even if we didn't sit up the system of inheriting just the exposure you have around them as you play is gonna cause your character to pick up those languages much quicker it's also gonna be a function of your character's mental stats because not all not all tribes are better are very good at learning multiple languages some are better than others like the Midori for example are very good at learning multiple languages different boilers well maybe something to look forward to here's a follow-up question regarding language upon entering a new biome or tribal area will I be unable to read or understand any of the contracts presented to me without a translator that is a great question I get to talk more about the languages a little bit so one of the things we did with this is we really wanted to create social groups beyond the individual kingdoms and the tribes that were populating those kingdoms and so in many cases there are overlaps for example the Rafi and the the Naren both speak Naren however the harathi also speak northerner which is a language that they share with the broodmare and the euro so if you were as an errand to go inside of the harathi environment depending upon whether or not they were writing in Narron or or northerner would dictate whether or not you can actually read that language which i think is fascinating because it means that you can walk into an area and actually feel like you don't know what's going on you can kind of feel lost or you might need to find somebody who speaks a language with you which i think is awesome and the further you south you go the more tropical the more the tribes tend to be isolated the draws for example are fairly isolated in the sense that they have formal relations with the other tribes around them but they don't necessarily interact with them as much and so it becomes more difficult to talk to people I think as you go further south without having to be a part of one of those tribes or finding a translator like the tropical the wetland or language and the tropical languages are fairly exclusive I think the tropical language is only shared between the dross and the Genoa and the midori now and them in the dark so the own language though right now what makes no one speaks the own language with the Ola yeah similar to the euro ah yes they only speak northerner at this point cool so why 12 tribes are we sure there's not a forgotten or hidden 13th tribe gee I wonder I can't remember that information is lost a time if there was ever a 13th tribe or or anything else I mean we could be real it's like that mean there's design reasons there are deferred reasons there's also more reasons there's also I want to hear so I will I will reveal some of all of them so our design process tends to borrow a lot from culture and Lord mythology in our world as well we use that for inspiration as well as kind of basic Wow so uh so anyways what I was gonna say is with the twelve tribes part of it came from the science of the biomes we had about twenty twenty biomes and we looked at them we distilled them down to the ones that we felt like had conditions that were unique enough that they would warrant their own tribe and so on the starting continent we settle on about twelve that being said was it 11 or 13 it could have probably there was some room there for flexibility but ultimately I chose 12 as a parallel to the 12 tribes in our world I will just leave that as a religious reference so that people can can look that up on their own detective I like ya 17 I mean I've got something I don't want around I don't think we ever had less than about eight though except the animators were like can we have two or two's a good number let's just do two tries yeah all right give them the genetic constraints I was wondering if there was a the potential for novel mutations so in real life there's always a chance of a recombination or spontaneous mutation is that going to be represented in the genetic system yes you're like Nick nodding your head yeah it says I love pirates well were you agreeing with the the mutants answer the question yeah of course because you gotta keep things interesting and there are a couple other reasons why you might run into genetic mutations more often than not I'm gonna leave that as is but Joe yes I think about why and then there's the chance for genetic mutation oh no the best part about this now when you take it the camera grab chocolate on your teeth project great will the experience of nobility have extreme differences depending on the tribes for example a new rumor or a hip account probably not um what we've tried to do is okay so the tribes are interesting one we knew from the beginning how we wanted them to work but we didn't know for sure how different we wanted them to be when we first kind of created and we imagined them all much more like Naren and then as we went along as we went along we became a little bit more unique and we wanted to move them a little more to the high fantasy and so that caused them to evolve a little bit differently though we always knew we wanted them to be more evolved to their volumes than then humans are in our world but we have this kind of promise that we made to the community the people who have back to set it at an early level to make sure that they have this the social structure of a king Duke and count like structure regardless of which which tribe did they choose and so to kind of make sure that we adhere to that promise all of the tribes are going to reflect a similar social structure they just might have different words for it and other things the one thing that we did do differently though is previously we had said in the case of I think this was like design Journal number 18 was on Kingdom and Land Management we had said that when there is a power vacuum and that there's no direct air meaning who is the king or the duke or the count in that region next is in no way based on the person who was there previously that it was based on popularity and reputation and we really liked that idea but we felt like that was a very Naren type thing and so as we've been developing these other tribes we've been looking for other ways to allow the tribes to solve the problem of who's going to be the next leader in the region based on their specific kind of sociology and so if you've read the journals now you know that the harathi view age and wisdom is a very core to their culture and so the oldest member of their their tribe within that bracket so for example if it's the the shield king then among the different Dukes the oldest is automatically the one that gets the Casas Bella and the ability to claim the throne in the case of the brewed beer they are very prone towards leadership and so it's just whoever has the highest leadership trait and all the tribes will be different but as best we can make them at this point their planet we plan for them it all be different so structurally wise like that's a mechanical framework that is going to be consistent throughout all the tribes but as far as Casas Bela and the order of succession beyond the beyond heirs heirs then it's going to be a little bit different project bang on the trend and that's that's important to note that's a launch mechanic - you know there's been questions of whether or not people can introduce other types of government whether or not it's like oligarchy or democracy that's something you guys will have to wait and see there will be blood anyways next question will different tribes use different creatures as beasts of burden yeah a tribe in a frozen tundra using ferrous employed carriages our tribe in the jungles using Panthers as mountains a hundred percent yet well not those examples but yes Panthers as yeah absolutely there will be different domesticated animals in different biomes there could also be different biome versions of this I can't have nice things it could be different vinyl versions of the same type of animal for instance there could be a Tundra horse versus a desert horse or something along those lines that is more adapted to that biome and with suffered similar penalties if they went out of a biome that they're well adapted to but would be essentially the same animal animation wise they have the same animation skeleton and Regan lesions um but their stats might be slightly due that's true that's true Oh removing the apple juice I was just moving up whoa I need that money no you've had enough I've been drinking the apple juice and I'm still thirsty can i what don't let her tell letter o Jami out hey you two gold coins for that jar kaltura is okay stop eating is on the number you were told you're not allowed to do that anyways get into the pot on that mystery sorry oh all right when filtering for parents in the character creation how does it take mixed ripe parents into account so if you set your filters of parents into character selection 2 euro and kipping are you automatically excluding anyone who has any non euro or cubic blood so at the moment we don't have the tribes as part of the filter that's how it's based on occupation on the parents so if you should pick something like carpentry or lumberjack you're more likely to get a brewed beer but you can see geographically where they're located so you'll kind of be able to tell physically or like visually what what biome they're located in but right now there isn't a way to do that directly we do plan on adding that or something like it but as you put it out there are going to be more and more combinations of bloodlines so we don't know yet if we want to be make it based on percentages or based on a specific trait that's associated with each of them of the tribes but at this point there isn't a way to filter that yet will there be any tribe specific benefits for example we mentioned in the past that the sword from Lord of the Rings glows in the presence of certain races would anything like that ever exist in this game yes yeah for sure those those will typically be artifacts not relics but they do exist is there any potential for a specific phobias or myths or superstitions or culture-bound syndrome yes all of that already exists but they're not necessarily mechanics that are enforced I mean that's more fluff it's more background information you know what drives afraid of what but if the player is not actually afraid of it's not going to make difference so yes you have anything that no that's great great uh might be a good use for people's design experiences it's possible world story event type stuff well and with the mechanics that a president is not to say that a population could by the design of the players and through the interactions of the players choose to have something yeah the curve become a phobia like all prophy become afraid of water or something like that and that's just something that people choose to do and then it could also be adopted as a mechanic here's a somewhat interesting question how many tribes can be in one Kingdom can there be two hostile tribes in one Kingdom so I think what they're asking about is on launch day because there are only six kingdoms on the starting continent and probably you know somewhere between six and twelve tribes it's possible that there are more than one tribe in a single Kingdom and can they be hostile the answer is no so while it's possible for the players after launch to kind of become hostile with one another we don't want to set you guys up in an environment where a single Kingdom has hostile tribes that are within its borders that sounds like a lot of it's a lot more chaos within the kingdom that we want to so while there will be hostilities between the tribes that cross Kingdom boundaries it won't be your extremely distracting Oh mi5 Wow he's just trying to repair in this little gouge that was in it yeah so I'll just stare at the candle shall we I'm sorry Oh continue they there will not be within the single kingdom so you know in the cases where we do need to group or cluster the the different tribes into a single kingdom in order to make sure we can get enough tribes on a starting server we will pair them in such a way that there are not internal conflicts we talked about potentially pairing for example the brewed beer and harathi which sarah shares similar culture even though they have different religions we have the opportunity to share the Rafi and the Naren then they're an indica pick and then as we go south there are other alliances that we can set up we did in discord talk with people and give them kind of an idea or a rough estimate of how that division my b-but we have yet to settle on what the continents are going to look like and so until we do it's harder for us to kind of firm decide where that grouping is going to be but as soon as we get the the continents out to players and they start getting an opportunity to provide feedback on those it'll be much clearer about what the grouping is cool what effects if any will there be four tribes leaving their preferred climates and how harsh they will be and are there any mechanics in place to allow for an individual to acclimate without breeding so the advantages and disadvantages of the leaving the biome that you were kind of as your primary biome are the advantage some of the advantages and disadvantages you see on the write-ups we do so for example the the brooder are specifically suited towards being inside of a cooler climate if they leave that cooler climate they lose that advantage and so inherently then they kind of have a disadvantage now on the other ones similarly there are going to be as we talked about the desert tribes the inability to survive as effectively in areas of high humidity and so if they do travel into those areas it's they're going to lose fatigue more quickly or they're going to lose energy more quickly because they're in a more humid environment similarly we've got the brooder up in the Alpine forests kind of in the taiga which in many cases has lower the higher altitude comes with lower oxygen so many of the tribes that go up there will find that they can't reach the highest peaks and potentially even the highest areas of the brooder settlements so ourselves it'd be hard I think yeah Jason I discussed it well is it related to the trees and stuff like that no it's really the fact that their altitude resistance isn't actually feasible alpine forests are not tall enough for them impossible gain the Alpine the altitude resistance wrap something like a Sherpa the tree stuff that's okay we have the ability to make our own rules that's the fun part about not making a pure selection tree stuff well so alpine forest is not really a thing in the sense that once you start going up high enough that it becomes an Alpine or the taiga the treeline stops and so there's a large area above that elevation where there is still plenty of oxygen and you don't need to worry about it only the point where the trees can't grow are the oxygen really so low that people can't breathe and so fidgets oh wow they give you the fidgets the spinner nice that must have been death that gave you that any rate that was easy all right so that's probability was referring to which I was aware of but it's just cooler to have really high forests even up into the areas where the oxygen levels are low because then you can have tribes that live up there that nobody else can come up to except under severe circumstances and fun stuff like that cool and there was a second part to that question which was no I figured they have you know what are the certain mechanical things that happen if you leave here oh can you acclimate to other climate exactly yes you can there are passive skill bonuses that people get from being instead of certain regions and over the course of a lifetime those things can start to degrade so it's not necessarily just tied your bloodline but as a kind of a multiplier so the longer you're in a biome that you weren't initially part of the less the penalties are on those things that you're not going to necessarily gain the advantages after a single lifetime in that biome but the did the penalties do start to degrade cool how will the tribal government system blend in with the king Duke count mayor feudal political structure I think we covered that yeah already so the idea is is if there's a merge Kingdom obviously only one of the tribe I thought it might be Revu guys thank you I thought if I was playing too much a student I think looks also where you're holding it that's okay yeah it apparently looks that Oh God can you ex um I want to push you off camera next time um so the idea is that if you have a king you may have more than one tribe those people are made up but those are going to be divided up at the very least amount along Duchy boundaries and so you might have a Duke that's a member of one tribe and a Duke that's another remember a member of a different tribe and then within their Duchy there are any different counties but in general the the the biomes are divided at the long Duchy boundaries and so generally you're not going to have mixed tribes like that that you have to worry about that are coming from the same I'm that's not to say you won't have citizens of both tribes in a single Duchy but it won't be viewed as like it's not the the native biome for that tribe so it'll work just trust me there's another question about language will there be a general or global language you can use to make sure everyone understands you or will there be true I have specific languages only no there's not a single language which is known everywhere there's no like there's nothing there's no college there's no common the closest we have as an errand which is the most widely spoken language but there are regions there are tribes where they do not speak near-infrared like most of the tropical like the Genoa for example do not speak nary well we have examples of NPC surnames of each tribe before we can try to create our own interesting I mean we had talked about this before ultimately cultures includes more than just things like music and entertainment I mean also they each have their own language and so ideally we'd be able to provide you guys some kind of set of phonemes or other things that would help drive or guide your naming of things surnames are fairly tightly controlled within the tribes themselves but obviously players right now who are in exposition have the opportunity to create custom surnames I'll have to work with I on that we'd like to get you as much information you can to make sure that your surname for region is thematic but I don't know whether or not we're going to have time before domain and settlement selection for example or at the point when you guys need to create surnames to kind of give you a full list of like these the sounds this tribe would make what if there's anybody in the studio that that could do that it would be her she's our language person being a fish chef yeah for sure so anytime you guys see not on a character or something that is non typical forward standard English you can blame her for that alright and your chips on the except for the burger if I asking it using a u.s. keyboard not an international one and you want to know how to do the extended e on the air shade hold down the Alt key and then on your numpad press 1 3 0 and then let go you will have the X make sure num locks off though I'm not gas via and also has to be on the number key it has been the dumpee on the top row right yeah I figured that out the hard way because it turns out if you hit vault and then you start pressing numbers when you're in like word one of them actually deletes everything uh-huh this is the old Menu key I was like like alt one and then ribbons started doing things and it bad stuff out so yeah make sure you don't do that Willie's trying to have its own man you isms such as greetings handshakes or Bally yes yeah of course makes animators remember yeah I remember when I told you the animators wanted only like two tribes now you know why so with no common history or shared language how does communication between the native NPCs and the tribes and explorers work so did you say no comma history language no common language what are your history communication it works exactly like you would expect it to which is to say that the people who speak Naren don't talk they're into the for example the Genoa and they have no way to relate so if you want to speak with them you either need to learn one of the languages such as learning the tropical language or you need to find a mediator which also means that in general the NPCs do not truck talk across cultural boundaries it's not to say that they can't but it's not something that's commonly done as an American that I can also say that one thing to do is speak slowly and loudly and that will make sure that anyone who doesn't speak English will be able to still understand that's not a thing well I mean there's there's the mechanical limitations of the game places technically biomes yes that's just a matter of that's kind of environmental resistances and so yes of course will contract types be available both explicit and implicit be limited by tribal culture or understanding so that goes into the stuff we were talking about in the twelve tribe thing at the tail of twelve tribes they build friends yeah so with the contract stuff similar to the bloodline as the the bloodlines start to mix it becomes a little bit more difficult to identify what tribes somebody is so we still need to nail that to a culturally specific thing that we don't know yet what that is it could be tied to the family and kind of what your family identifies as or something else but we do want people to we want people to be able to create how I say this nicely we want able to report I mean just say boat might say uh partly I hate it out there so in our world in our world we are not a fan of this we feel like that this type of conflict does not do well for us as a people as as a society nor just as a planet but in a game like this where you want conflict because it adds to story in game racism between the tribes is actually interesting and so the ability to create contracts which are only catered to are only allowed to a specific tribe like I'm sorry are brew fear do not sign contracts with the kipping stuff like that it adds for really interesting roleplay opportunities and also interesting mechanics in a game but we want we want to be clear that while that's something that we want to do in the game for for the story purposes it's not a principle that we would subscribe to in real life we believe that everybody should be welcomed and viewed as a single a single race the race of humans we are all humans mankind and kind to us I think so there you go next question somewhat follow-up question can you make tribal specific laws so for example would a murder in one tribe be a crime in a different Kingdom and it wouldn't be a crime so that it's a cultural thing it's how do the different tribes handle different types of activities you know is stealing from the brewed beer handled the same as stealing from a different tribe that I think is an opportunity for us to add some really cool cultural elements so going back to the contract system laws are really just implicit contracts so if we have a way to do that we would absolutely like to exercise that because the idea of you know breaking a law in one location not really being a stiff penalty but in another area where that is prized like the the Marathi for example are extremely virtuous you know committing any kind of crime with inside the domain of the harathi would probably be penalized quite a bit when and beyond that we've already talked about how the air shade have political unity people mad frightening in other kingdoms so there's already example by the way you want to get away of things I think that the real crux of it is do tribal cultural beliefs and mannerisms Trump the governments that are in place they're better than the laws that are in rules that are there I think I'm gonna be handed from this part because it's going to be the tribal code there's gonna be the culture that dictates the laws alright but if my kingdom for example had two tribes in it say the Profi of the brood we're both in my that's two different cultures two different tribes that are represented and they may have their own beliefs about house how to interact socially I think but if if I have decreed murder is not okay but one of them thought it was okay or it was okay as long as it wasn't of your same tribe like that should still not be okay in my kingdom I think that's an interesting I think that's an interesting opportunity to potentially have some complex justice system kind of things going on I think ultimately it comes down to the kingdom system I mean the laws are enforced by the kingdom not by the tribes and so the kingdoms the Kings laws it's about the table and stop rubbing your leg so in that regards I think that the legal system the kingdoms laws Trump anything else however the people who are making those laws are going to be culturally driven and so they're going to make laws that I think favor their one culture over another and as long as the contract system allows you to target one culture one tribe versus another than it unlocks the possibility for them to do those things but I think it's important to recognize that the cultural stuff is some RP some bloodline based and some history but it ultimately comes down to player mechanics and in this case the player mechanics are still going to have to be around the kingdom and legal system implicit laws yeah cool well the smallest of races have an advantage in crafting small objects that require precision handling and their creation when compared to larger business yeah but not for the reason that you guys are thinking it actually has more to do with the fact that the smallest race happens to also be the most agile or days yeah but not just because they're right because there's a little right there tiny hands help though certainly well I mean that that was a factor in the decision to make them very agile clockwork kind of tinkering yeah to what extent will tribes affect our destiny for example soul mates and story checkpoints will tribes affect how we find and interact with potential life changing crossroads I not planning to have that be the case now we could get adds I think it adds an element of of intrigue if you are a for example a brewed beer and your soul mate is a typic and you like I like about that that the kit mix soul mate is actually the Euro yeah you just want to you want to make a new new thing high death wants to make new new he wants to convince a euro to allow him to be a epic pack and just right around them the shoulders all the time he's gonna find he actually told me yesterday he's gonna find somebody who was willing to play a for a small body tribe via dagger for a large body trap Oh in terms of writer or weapons size is relative to the wielder are they going to be non disappearing in most mmo's you see sword and whoever whomever picks it up whatever size they are it's resizes itself to that person to be a sword for them but our plan is not that no if you take a look at the overall a for example they comment that they won't be able to use larger amounts and there's equipment limitation so things that are too large for you you're just not going to able to use effectively we're talking yesterday about adding in specific animations for trying to use things that are too large for you so that it looks like you're still trying to but it's ultimately ineffective and then using things that are too small for you could potentially at this point we haven't focused on things that are too small for you more than we have things that are too big for you but what we did more than likely you do is just not let you use that because it's just too small for you one example one or one difference one exception I guess would be if you're somebody like the brood V or the or o and you're using you know what would normally be a broadsword for an arrant can you use it as a hand and a half sword or a one-handed sword that's something want to work on I think I'm inclined to say yes and it's an easy enough mechanic for us to change yeah but right now it doesn't in Chinese it's probably gonna be more dictated by your strengths rather than you know your physical size I mean there's still limitation in size to I mean the Kip ik trying to wield a broadsword it the broadsword is taller than sure there's some logistical issues oh that could arise it extremes it's also a factor though it comes back to the way the items persist in the world when you have crafted something and it is yay big it remains that big no matter who is holding it right or not holding it so if I'm a gyro and I think of a dagger and it literally is just in my hand like there's no blade showing it's too thick anyways back to languages how old is that communication work amongst our the tribes will one be able to learn a language simply by spending time with the tribe via players or NPCs or will a player have to physically study each language can someone be a master of all tribal languages I would say yes exposure is a perfectly acceptable way to learn language it's how we learn I reason reality and yes you could absolutely burn all the languages I think that it's important to say that knowing all of the languages it's totally achievable but it would be something that you would need to spend time to work at it wouldn't just be a passive occurrence of just living one lifetime on a character you wouldn't without specifically learning the languages you wouldn't learn them it's also important to note that languages character specific so your ability to learn languages and your ability to understand them it does accelerate as part of the skill brand but that's one of those things that reset so if you start as a character you're going to know the language of your starting tribe and then it's going to take you some time energy to go learn the languages of some of the other tribes and then if you are able to complete that mission before your character dies then you have to start over to a degree when you move on to the next life it's still going to allow you to do it faster but I think trying to learn all the languages it would be a multiple life time endeavor because there are I mean we have right now like six seven different languages and yeah there's quite a few languages so but yeah the idea is is for you to learn them through exposure at what point does crossbreeding the tribes make it so you're no longer seen as a member of the tribe that's gonna sort of depend on the tribe some of the tribes will be a lot more tolerant of mixed breeds than others but others will be very you know pure blood only so very much depends it will depend primarily on their society and a little bit on how you end up making your character look you know which which edge of the spectrum that you tend towards you might be able to swing in under the radar of a tribe that would normally be relatively intolerant they'd still be treated well it looks fair it looks he's okay I think there's a Tom Danvers is a good example of that sure I mean Sandra's without going into too much depth the bearded King was the king of the north he was a euro King for a while as the rightful heir so he had euro blood how he does he doesn't usually look like the euro he looks more like the the brew beer in that regards and so but I mean ultimately he was not able to hold on to his throne he was overthrown uh but I mean that guy's do you think that's where the word came from yeah they like literally toss you over your throne he's like alright so um something that's a good example where sometimes what you look like doesn't necessarily indicate your bloodline on the other hand I think some tribes would care very much whether or not you visually look like the rest of them I you know it for example if you do not look like a Genoa they are not going to receive you as one no matter who you are what your bloodline is didn't even matter what your parents look like right them and you don't go hi moving on how will animals and beasts react differently to different tribes ah there's no particular difference the only difference that you're going to find is when there are massive differences in size you know an animal might react differently to euros and a work ethic but like you're talking in someone like five foot five to six foot five people you're gonna basically react the same mindset and unless there are some familiarity with that race of people as a result of constant exposure I mean which would be the one example like the brooder and the Wolves right or really the brooder and anybody I mean as being effective animal tamers I would expect that that's true like if if the animal knew what they were knew who they were that it would they would be less inclined to maybe run away and that's that's actually not so much a function of tribe though it's just to write a function of their third their skill and their attributes right so no no difference between tribes for the most part how much of an influence will tribes culture have on buildings that players craft in their settlement area a lot a lot it'll affect what you can up it'll affect what you can build but that ties into the resources of the environment provides you and that's the limitation and then also the like the blueprints and and the patterns and architectural patterns that are provided or available are going to be limited based on your tribe you know one tribe will have different blueprints than another right like certainly the venerian have access to wood and stone the food have access and are particularly adept at carpentry so they have wood and the brophy have a lot of stone and so you could in an Aryan community choose something that kind of looks very narrow or you could find a pattern that you think is cool and make it look a little bit more but very like or brophy like right there's certainly a concept of like a narrow door versus approve your door versus a they'll have their own aesthetic and a kipnuk door I mean they're much smaller yeah but I think the important thing to note there is is that we were talking about limitations it's not a pure limitation so much as it's a historical limitation so you know the Narron pass along their architectural blueprints from one generation to the next and they train people and the same is true for the brew beer with their carpentry and they're a particular style and the Rafi in particular with all the triangles and circles and dome type stuff they have for for structural integrity like that's something they've passed along so when you're starting a character if you like that our co textural style or if you're particularly wanting to use that architectural style you either want to start in that tribe or find a trainer or a crafter who knows that style because they're more likely to have the patterns of blueprints for that so it was not uncommon for example for the kerothi to come into the Narron lands to help them build out things out of stone because they were better stone rights than the Narron were and so oftentimes you'll see cathedrals and other things that were built by the bruegger actually buy the product and not by the Narron or so but it's possible to you can train somebody but it is also possible to find a pattern that is in one architectural style that you take into a different biome and be materials there are just maybe not sufficient in order to or the kind of structure that it is yeah sure the pillar but the interior the pillar was a call Jen I'm talking about the into of what pillar the pillar that we had the comic for oh and you tableau yeah those are a name for the interior dome like that I've been using like cathedrals so like the whole server is the term but any hose at night I forget it anyways you're gonna find frothy inspired and other stuff artwork around the world yeah in previous Q&A is mentioned that there would be unmanned monster tribes really some sort of beast with sentence and intelligence here's the question would be possible to socialize and befriend them then breed to create who knows of a third man or a bird person or a half man beast and in the end would you be able to play is that Chad wood now has the traits of the master monster cookies no that's a genetic issue and you can't breed with someone that that's like saying can I go breed with a horse and have a horse person no I guess but what if there were some old but more akin to humans there's still don't undercut well near that also share common DNA there's still genetic there's so genetic commonalities then we should emphasize that depending upon the religion that people follow it is not something that can be done today but it might have been something that was done in the past oh except a religion important I mean because each have the different ideas about how we become what we are today cool and so not something worth it okay um I mean for example the Kindred we don't need examples I mean I mean the Kindred believe that there are these ancestors that we all inherit from it each of them are visually different and so as all children of men it is presumed that man had multiple spouses not all of which who may have looked human or humanoid to be fair man was also a god yes so he kind of had it out well that's what I'm saying like historically it's possible a modern day or at least in-game modern day exercise all right from a practical standpoint like a game development standpoint doing something like that is actually fairly complicated because something that is a playable race has a lot more animations and the ability to wear different types of clothing or interact with the other things in it the world all new equipment systems all of our ice we actually have a map no joke we have a map where it's got things like step stools and tables and chairs and all the stuff at varying standardized Heights just so that we make sure that when all the tribes try and set their butts down on something that it doesn't look stupid called the world conventions yeah so I mean to answer your question like that's how specific we have to be with a sandbox world like this so the idea of hybridizing these these tribes with nonhumanoid creatures or other more fantasy fantastical things it's not to say that they will never happen but the amount of work involved and that is not something that we can just make a decision be like let's do this tomorrow they're going to be a very very good reason yes not so I never happened procedurally it's something that we would have to we as the no person to do and develop and create so it is potentially a possible possibility that we could do post launch but at launch there's not necessarily getting there's absolutely not going to be the ability to breed beyond the tribes of man unless you want Cullen to come in here and smack us just she's a gem you know all right nice question as the design team given any thought as to what you might do if an overwhelming percentage of players on a server all try to start that's the same tribe well they can because the Lux domain and settlement selection only lets one so yes we did give us a knock and then we solve that problem uh you know we understand that that's the desire but that just doesn't necessarily or it could be a desire that's just not the game so our solution that is is to encourage people to look outside that being said I hope people start to realize that this is not like most traditional MMOs with respect to races all of our our tribes are are different and similar to men in different ways and so you can go pick one like the brewed beer and while not technically they're in are similar enough that it should radically change your ability to play the character you want to play now does the tribe you have affect your play experience absolutely that was the whole point of the tale of twelve traditional the tribe you have in this game affects you a lot more than it would in most games but we also want to provide you two to have at least the option to play the way that you want to so if you want to play you know a brewed beer inside of you know the frothy cavern system like you're gonna it's gonna you're gonna struggle and you're gonna be ducking everywhere and it's just not gonna be a lot of fun but you can do it you know and you just have to convince the other players in that region that you're trustworthy and we'll you know worthy of being there and that option is open to you so the idea of the tribes is to open up opportunities for more story not necessarily to limit the options that players have from from a play style right and that's just really not a concept that the modern MMORPG has when you make a character in one of the other ones it's chosen by the server you want to maybe play on a server where your friends are or has a good ping or maybe just like the name of it you're going to be choosing the class that you want to play because that player is seasoned some because up playstyle interests you and you're going to choose the the race that you want to play and that might be by some so many previous choices that you've made but those are all the only options that you have in a traditional MMO to choose what it is that you want to play and how you want to experience the world we have no classes the server is going to be based around book houses specific geographical locations on earth that provide you a good play experience Internet wise you could choose to play on something that is not in your in your home region and you'll have a worse pain but that's that's up to you but really people are encouraged to play in the place that gives them the best internet connection and then beyond that choosing your tribe is only one of like half a dozen different reasons why you might make a character one it could be that your friends are going to be your parents and they've given you a code to be their child you want to be in their family could have a particular king or other liege lord that you are already talking to in our community that you want to play as part of their lands and you want to be a citizen of their people and that's another guy ohm that it could be the biome the reason that you want to do that because your particular goals it could be the tribes it could be something that you use but that's just really this just one reason to choose stuff and there we're going to find people all through the community all through the game who have prioritized different aspects on why they chose their character some the tribe will be really important how they look will be cool some people the cultural identity more important others the biome others the kingdom others the family that they want to be together with yeah and for what it's worth I mean we've been talking with the community pretty regularly and right now the feedback we've been getting on the forums and discord is people are excited about all the tribes so I don't think that we're going to see at this point huge convergence towards a single one I've heard people are like Rafi are the best the Narron are so cool I love what you've got done with kind of the religious structure that they've had you know others are like the proved you are awesome okay down with the Kip ik also there's the tipic people to the Kip accept feelings also Wow particular tribe I think it's the funny idea okay yeah so the mechanics that we have right now allow for us to age them in different rates with respect to how they change visually but either way they're going to live the same amount of time and at this point actually our character artist is actually right now creating the different blend shapes meshes for what they the tribes look like at varying ages so it's timely at least yeah it's a good question yeah well I mean the amount of wrinkles of the year you know whether or not they get age spots if they have green hair or not there could be different different ways that we represent the aging process and the different tribes that is relatively trivial I could that could be different it's gonna be interesting to see whether or not the dross right here when the age or not huh actually that's not necessarily thing that used to happen to all the tribes mmm next question well this might not be the case for non role playing players are the NPC's of the world affected by the lore of a specific tribe such as being hostile towards specific tribes totally yeah yeah I represent it's kind of the point between now and server selection will there be more concept bar for each of the tribes but focusing on examples of housing architecture clothing weapons armors etcetera yeah actually right now we're working right he's actually working on the clothing and other stuff we've got already housing architectural stuff with an errand and clothing for the NER and he's working on some of the other tribes as well so yes it may not all happen in time for the some men domain selection that every tribe has their architecture or their clothing style represented right but you know what it's a good way to determine what the architectural style or the clothing is going to look like you can ask in a QA related to the tribe that you're most interested in yeah you could be like hey this one is going to be on the dross on this date and I want to make sure that their houses look like the way that I want them to so I will make sure to put a question about what the architectural style is in greater detail so that we have an opportunity to answer that I suppose that I never would be disappointed when it's not what you want or be extremely excited that it is or that imagine so far we've been spot on because what I've been hearing from people is that our way of envisioning the different tribes is appealing to a lot of players which i think is great next question how do you plan to incorporate the local architecture with immigrating tribes of vastly different sizes for example a bear trying to live in a city of giving depends I'm gonna have a much bigger house yeah these are the architect the architectures is going to of course be informed by the resources and the blueprints you have so even if you're a brewed beer you don't have any architects or any architectural blueprints of bruger housing you're not going to have a brute brute house and that's just as it yes something like that it much like crafting this thing if it's this big it's this big if you take a pattern of a particular architecture style and you put it somewhere it will look like that provided that then materials can support that structure but there wasn't that yeah you could just have from the style little house and brother for lace or something and yeah whatever it might be eclectic looking you know well and also you'd be at different elevations because probably have like Revere cabin on the ground underneath the Kip exposes in the trees but you're not going to take a brute bear house and put it up in the tree well you you can't do that you can eClinical you can but the trees won't support mechanically weird if we're not gonna allow you to even arm alright maybe not with all of the initial saddles extra nice come up at launch just sounds like a perfect use for the research and technology system right this is this is research and technology hand hinge so the absolute answer is is that at launch there will be certain restrictions and limitations that you'll have to work around however if you wish to solve those restrictions limitations there are ways to go about doing that is for you as the player is to overcome one of the whole points of Chronicles of Valeria's for the players to be part of the story and to build towards things that they want each server is going to diverge both in the technology and they have the delineation of the tribes they haven't mean the maps we've already said are going to be different and there's going to be a different set of tribes on each server the the map and which tribes are available on any West it's going to be different than nae east you know it sounds like we're doing what it sounds like we're creating some massive social experiment just to see which server manages to survive the apocalypse I am a social experiment and we want to see little guys do ah I really like the idea people building towards your roux saddles for the keeping right I want that so I'm gonna say that's gonna be probably possible I want that but I push for that I mean it only makes sense it's it's not different speeds and so if you're just wandering along and you are a taller tribe or a more athletic tried you'll walk faster than one of the smaller ones like the Roth II actually think at this point probably this the slowest movers they're certainly one of them yeah I mean they just they're not accustomed just feet they're not used to speed hello legs they got little was always walking around in low light and in the dark what's they're pretty built so they're they're pretty top-heavy they got a lot to carry in the first place we're talking about running yeah they're stocking they've got short tiny legs so all right was that the last question guys oh one more question from the four cycle okay I it's a question about orphanages and locating if a settlement has an orphanage does that mean that the players can roll offered orphans from there from every tribe and can orphanage orphanages be built during exposition using EP excellent questions okay so the answer them in reverse order yes orphanages will be a building type that you can create during exposition with EP and in terms of the ability to create characters their orphans can be created using any of the bloodlines that are known to populate that region so it doesn't have to be a primary tribe it can be one of the transition biomes so for example if you are looking at grasslands then there would be in there and that would be one option if you're looking at one of the biomes around the grasslands but not quite - let's say the semi-arid desert because there's remember there's 24 tribes if it's my oh my god well tribes well and just let it bus to the door so there are 20 different biomes if you're in one of those transition biomes and you create an orphanage there then it could be that there's an errand or it could also be that there are members of the weird or arish a like okay extreme example if the euro had somehow managed to acclimate themselves to the desert and there's one as it occurs one no hanging out and like I mean I didn't see you can reason why you reasonably we can't do that is that the the ward system is assuming that there is some parents somewhere that had this child that some we don't really account for but now they're in an orphanage and so you're taking over that bed character and so if there's one that managed to work his way down in two that's that that's like settlement that civilization or that biome it doesn't make sense there's likely be enough wandering namely presumably high caste yes she's asserting two euro managed to make their way and acclimate themselves to the desert because I didn't have a gate and then get burned I decided to have a can decided to die well then it wouldn't be open they would then they to be an ally then it would be a family so that's not that work we never talked about the option to have a family but just put it up for adoption yes we have no we've said we don't support adoption but we've never used the option of taking and taking the child code and giving it to an orphanage oh Jesus oh that's that's pretty hardcore I don't talk about right now we don't have to discuss that at the moment so I mean you're you're you come down into the desert and just like drop off your euro baby in the orphanage and that someone comes along out yeah but so what's the what's that word for that there's a messed up I'm so team safe haven the the the follow-up good part we've kind of covered stuff in general we come and so it might be nice to take a couple of more tribe specific questions y-strip why don't we we do have a plan for when we're gonna end no we're gonna take the follow-up questions though okay okay so we're just from data czar I wonder why the underground census of the whole Rafi it's called underground will they only apply underground as well as the dark division is explicitly described as ability to see the ground that I was a little bit using but yeah no it means inside of the tunnel system so whether or not that's truly underground or in the side of a mountain the system applies the same right so it doesn't apply to that region above ground it does not apply to night vision above ground although in the case of this mechanic how do you feel about this one tire fission I and so funny story here uh you know how death likes to min/max yeah so we gave him the task of going through and reviewing the the attributes that we had and in many cases we found the attribute distribution for the tribes were not quite balanced and so we've spent the last couple days as part of this going through and coming up with additional trait differences and dark vision was not one that we had agreed on and then suddenly it was there and I showed Sozo this morning and and he was like what was the response you gave it was not good I had my concerns yes I however had already talked to that that was like yeah now that makes sense there's probably a couple tribes where full dark vision makes sense and I'm the horatii was one that I had agreed to so it was it was interesting discussion so the point is is that with that we don't I don't think we have consensus yet I'm not the dark vision is yep underground I would say just pretend like it doesn't exist in Center told otherwise and you know so one thing I should point out I know it's late in the conversation status but with the tribes we wanted to give you guys a clear understanding and direction of where we were we're planning to go with the tribe so that you could see them visually and understand kind of what their culture and stuff is like the advantages and disadvantages in particular are going to be things that we continue to iterate on the change both during development as well as during alpha and beta based on what we feel is attractive to the players so this is exactly the kind of thing that we want to test the right area and the other PL things exactly and through alpha and beta and if it's not working we're going to adjust it this is just where we want to start the write-ups that were really see now is the starting point right so that that being very explicit and please do not base your choice of tribe on just one advantage like you're like I want a night vision so I'm going to be this tribe because if that ends up becoming another thing for game balance reasons and you are going to be disappointed so as I've said before look at the tribes holistically look at their culture look at the crafting professions look at the architecture and kind of figure out which one works best for you overall because the advantages and disadvantages in particular are subject to change the rest of the stuff unless so we're pretty fixed on their culture and societies and things like that but any of this stuff that's like extrinsically tie our trade yeah if you feel like it's going to take alpha it's going to take alpha testing for us to get a definitive answer on something that it's subject to change we've got a question that a lot of people seem to be really interested in okay is this the Kip ikiru question no it's a purge question we commit genocide on an entire race of course yeah of course you can toss a bar you can try let the games begin you can try oh she's not even like yeah that's various like let's see which try we could annihilate first wink we yeah if you want to mess up your server about it no you mean this is a the next one we have coming up is the euro and then the Genoa and Quebec I believe not necessarily in that order I think we're doing the the euro why would we in the kippah can that well we would make the same wrong and no you know it make a certain list order there is no my desk it's on my desk I was almost up you've said noble times than the dollar would be next it's on my desk no say multiple times well alright that's why I look oh because they were the other neutral one so uh what we did is we took the religions and then when there were not enough we added in one of the atheist agnostic religions I thought that the your was the next because we were up in the north but it could be that we had the Midori and a genetic pairing all right so the Midori Genoa and Quebec are the next x3 probably probably very likely and not as mr. Luthor so what is the scientific explanation behind dark vision working underground but not above there is no scientific explanation as well I don't like and first of all first of all do you know how many cave creatures have night vision I'll tell you very few of them basically none of them they're mostly blind so the fact that they would have vision at all is ridiculous that being said they do not vision from a game development standpoint we are making something that people will see on computer screens yeah and so obviously they can be buggered could we make a tribe that's full of blind people that essentially just has UI and blackness amigo though yeah we actually talked about that basically the idea would be it'd be like it'd be like how Daredevils doesn't see it's like movie totally sees everything just got that crazy red filter over it yeah dog war be like but he still sees this kind of like extra work for like one tribe or very little game well there's the bloodlines like as the bloodline is they start to breed with another tribe like it becomes less monochromatic I can see more but not falling right every now suddenly certain things show up in color uh-huh yeah from a story standpoint cool but from a practical game development standpoint we do actually have to ship this thing at some point so we're not you go from dared immersion to less daring Devil pigeon so the answer for not having cific question is there's no scientific reason to it I was calling that out entirely on the spot chances are good either they will not have dark vision or if there is in fact dark vision they would be able to see in the dark as well above ground that however does not work for the like tunnel sense and stuff and the ability to know which direction you're facing red actually is an underground thing it's actually a real thing too there are several creatures on earth that know underground do the magnetic pole where which direction is which next question from the sneeze word or sorry sneeze word will the robbery of popular areas outside the full tropic Mountain Kingdom smaller outcroppings of a tribe in other regions that have oh I would assume so talk about that and then even they even exist in Aaron society I mean in general the the raffia armoire mountainy but the the Montaigne step is still bad it's still a step and so while they tend to build inside the tunnels because they appreciate that the shelter and the more infinite nature of it they're not opposed to going out and mingling with the the linear ins and the brewed beer I mean they will not ok effects so much there so necessity of that as well okay so we can't get all the resources from inside the mountains yeah I would expect to see them in a lot of the steppe as well as you probably wouldn't see them as much in the Alpine for us but I would expect to see a good number of frothy inside the in the steps instead they're an environment of grasslands yep we have a way to circumvent people adjusting their gamma or contrast settings on the monarch see on the ground no that's that's why the whole notion of dark Asians are dumb right but that might be so I knew that question was going to come up let me go ahead and address that directly one of them but there's another popular game out right now that's also using the Unreal Engine and it uses day/night cycles as do a lot of the survival games and that's great but the problem is is people who don't want to deal with the complexity and in the trouble of having darkness just up their gamma ramp and then it's just like them being in the daytime but at nighttime and then they just adjust it back down at daytime and so it completely defeats the purpose of having that day/night cycle furthermore it gives them an advantage over people who are not adjusting their gamma because now they can see well the people who are not doing that cannot and so really everybody has to do it as soon as everybody has to manipulate their gamma in order to be on an equal playing field and it's just a pointless mechanic so whether or not we choose to actually make things darker or not it will not be so dark that you cannot see we don't want players to have to adjust their gamma in order to be able to see that being said we do have the ability through other mechanics like lighting and stuff like that to make it so that animals and players who are hidden are revealed by light sources so if you think about a stealthy mechanic if you're inside the darkness and you stealth you become invisible or very very difficult to see but if you move within a light source then it suddenly makes you more visible similarly if you had dark vision or something like that you would just be able to see people who are inside stealth or inside shadow and so there are ways to do it but I do not plan on relying on on-screen darkness and gamma as a way to to make things obfuscated that doesn't work that's not in the fair but not equitable no that's not me I'm sorry my monitor doesn't allow me to adjust gamma right sorry that was unfair to you it's unfair that I cheated but I want to cheat too yeah for like then we'd have to consider like people who live closer to their their like Internet service provider like that's a slightly better believe recommend like automatically add packets next question would you do all the magnetic pool think birds can do that to above ground yes so I can def where are they I'm sorry cuz we said so first of all first of all first of all hold on the way that birds function and the way that underground first of all birds function differently than other interns all you triggered what I a dumb question Oh be nice okay choose one animal do function as it does you guys Emily big time does one animal question do we have tribes specific questions yes is it possible that all tribes get along without having any Wars for a period of time and if so would you guys do something to push the tribes to go to war of course good luck Oh peace of absence oh yeah historically there is a long peace there is a long winter there's a period in illyrian lore where the tribes got along more or less for a long period of time it just so happens that period of time ends right before the players start playing and so it's theoretically possible then may get to things like good luck letting the players try and find a way to Mecca so if they all get along we support you yeah Deborah for you in terms of the latter question of would the story try and make that not happen the story is already gonna do that it doesn't matter whether they're getting along or not it was already gonna be comfortably we don't have to do anything we do dollars we'll never get a long following I think actually the story is not so much designed to make conflict between the players I think the story if anything is going to draw them to collaborate but there could be it could try and cause collaboration had expensive other guys when I was just yeah oh yes someone will collaborate through conflict because I rightfully my enemy mind me and my enemy is yeah is my friend exactly we're not necessary if for some strange reason that utopia did break out on one of the servers would we though actively try to break it up no we wouldn't have to wait no we don't have to that's the truth tooth reality but Burton cut hypothetically thinking would we as developers step in if there was utopia no we wouldn't is not gonna happen so we don't really have to think about I mean I thought about it I'm not worried about it I'm not worried about it I mean even if there is a utopia and everybody is peacefully get out and along but it's one player that joins the server and everything isn't about it and well not to mention the fact that the symbiotic relationship it's a closed finite economy but it's still a limited resource economy so at some point things are going to become contentious in a region and either somebody's going to have to relocate or together they relocate and their happy family but I suspect more than anything what's going to happen when the resources in a region start to get scarce as the Utopia is going and we don't even need we don't even need to do that right it could just be a symbolize oh the kid big now have a cute hat that only they can wear boom peace gone assault obliteration everyone at war Wow I'm just saying it works so we've got a question on the brew beer from lol lol lol 1 2 3 okay I made that easy for you that's good yeah right root beer only live in small groups does this mean that it will be hard or impossible to make a larger settlement yes that's what that means it's hard or difficult to do so that was actually called out almost word-for-word inside the the write-up so the tribes are all focused on the biome that they're in I mean all the design of these our biome based and when you're in a biome that's largely made up of Alpine forests like coniferous trees and things like that you're looking at an area where you can't really grow a lot you can cultivate animals through farming but you still have to have something for them to eat so you need to only work with animals that don't require a lot of grains and things like that and you don't have the ability to grow fruits and vegetables and so you're going to spend a lot of your time hunting and you don't want to hunt all the animals in a region to extinction and so the amount of food in a region that would allow you to continue to grow as a culture it's limited so as a result of that they are going to be one of the more dispersed tribes along the om because there's just not a lot of food in a single location right next question is from punch packet prophet generally we actually let me go back to that previous one that's based on the limitations of the biome itself through trade and through other endeavors and through research and technology it becomes more possible so that's that's a the limitations of the above the biome aside there are ways for players who are brew beer to build bigger settlements but it's going to require a combination of player cooperation as well as technology and resource one of the challenge at is a challenge for the players to overcome right with the karate generally dwelling underground will this have any change to the architecture system I think I'll probably incorporate the same elements of the architectural system yeah the specifically talking to me it's the song system issues they're specifically referring to the triangles and spherical shapes and stuff like that those need to be incorporated into the architecture tools so that when when building components that those will be there we don't have that yet but that's something we'll have to do good next question is from kismet is it possible for one to learn the proto Darren language and in doing so use it akin to the Rosetta Stone and be able to have an understanding which is descended from it probably not I mean we think a little Ernie talked about the proto naren's Darin there's not as there is there it is plural proto naren's see how arbitrary can be um he's breaking the system because the proto in there is just a term that we've we've given to this group of people but they're so far removed from history no one knows anything about them essentially beyond beyond what we've said because we're the developers more aware of the whole story like it they're so far removed from history that the notion of you coming across the Narron language and discovering the Rosetta Stone is just it's it's pretty much out it's out there it's super out there like knowing Latin doesn't help you speak French dare go yeah more Spanish brother I mean a lot of them a lot of the languages a lot of the languages you might be like others I never word or a read that I recognize but you're not so the language of universal some of the language then you involved from the Fronteras languages here's a little DM advice or GM or or any system when asking somebody whether or not they can do something you should always give a neutral or poly up yes or just like a I mean the possibility is out there being like a hard like there you're never going to find a proton era and rosetta stone you're never going to be able to learn the ancient language you're just basically sitting out there I never said just I said it's out there and just saying you don't wanna marry young might eliminate the possibility well I didn't okay I could agree but to be fair it's a lot easier to DM yes with a pay cuz I right the protein Aaron are a long time ago like historically on the timeline they're way far back because I mean the other tribes had to have evolved from them and of evolution is not a quick process but that's not to say that there's not the opportunity for storytelling related to that care that group of people so I don't know yet we don't have anything in the storyline right now related to the program also another question on language will it be fully with my grammar and syntax and stuff like that or will it be there's my random bunch of characters like in World of Warcraft oh it's not gonna be like World of Warcraft but DVD on the exact mechanic of it oh I'll tell you now she's more than likely gonna be the one designing that system so there you go so to be to be D to be designed hints any tips secrets other things we want to share about some of the tribes we've done got so far anything anything we want to lead on on the upcoming tribes anything interesting yeah will there be a system to stop a psycho kingdom from hoarding tribes like I had to follow if I want to be a tribe member of another Kingdom but still want to be a part of my current kingdom how will I spawn in that Kingdom and walk to my town just like that you pick a family in that other Kingdom and then you had walked with anyone yeah but that's not a that's not a trivial task no you might die yes you probably will die at least once yeah um tribal stuff tribals up anything really I mean is there anything you're finding on on leaking inside of discord that you might already do now I think our key yeah it's almost the most of its already there great I mean we know that the the tereska and the Midori our ancestral II related in a similar way as the proton Erin's are related and we know that the Jeannot and the Duras are likewise similarly related and awaited there we know that the om in the euro are not any home in the euro are not related ah let's see which implies that there were starting tribes or origin there was an origin there multiple origins um let's see let's see there's so much and what do I want to give away because it's all pretty cool has it given away plenty we've given a lot of favorite tribes that's a good place to cut it on what I feel like the day yes I don't think that's actually a good place to cut it all because we haven't revealed all the information about the tribes be trying to reveal more information yep yeah give it a bit of information is that right now we have all of our tribal guides right now are inside the forums under the general forum that's temporary we do have as part of the v3 design a new layout for the game guide and so one of the things we're going to be doing is moving these the tribal descriptions into the game guide at some point in the future so question will you still be a book on item ah probably in the forms but not on the game that babies know so that was actually one of the things we talked about is actually a lot of people to comment directly on the game guides I think it was overruled it's my proposal loving it probably a good idea so oh there is still the image but you can go ahead and take the question if you have a even after it's moved over to the game guide if you have a question or discussion on the on the tribes you can create a new form on the on the forums many new forms windows come available and ask the
