The Seeker of Knowledge

The Beginning

There are a handful of demons in the hellish planes that are capable of transitioning to any plane of existence... Capable of shifting in an almost unnoticeable manner. Unnoticeable to all but those capable of sensing such changes in a certain realm, that is. Vincent Fiorelli, the second of the Fiorelli twins was the result of one of these demons breeding with a human being. The entity was called a "dream demon", a demon capable of shapeshifting at will as well as invade the minds of any creature near it, up to the point of erasing memories or hurting a living being physically via the manipulation of the mind. The young demon's sister was named Vanni, and they'd both inherited a portion of their father's powers while gaining the morals and ethics of humans.

Vincent's upbringing was quick and he and his sister developed quite quickly thanks to the accelerated growth rates their bodies and minds possessed. Within weeks, they were able to tap unto their innate powers and discover what they were capable of. It appeared Vincent had a natural knack for controlling and manipulating the four primordial elements and sub-elements: fire, water, earth, wind, and several others such as lightning, wood, light, and darkness. His sister strayed away from that path, instead gaining an unusual mastery over shapeshifting, which allowed her to quickly alter her physical body to suit her needs. Eventually, they both discovered they had a minor aptitude in each other's skills; Vincent could shift his limbs and certain parts of his body, enough for him to change genders at will, while his sister could manipulate the four basic elements to a certain degree.

Exactly two months after their birth, when they'd reached roughly eight years of bodily development, Vincent and Vanni devised a plan to escape with their mother, which was successful to a degree. The plan went well during the initial phase, however, the demon felt that something was amiss; the woman was not there - she had also escaped. He couldn't have that, for he still needed to reproduce and populate the world with more offspring in order to raise his own army and claim territories upon the surface of the Earth. At the woman's request, both Vincent and his sister successfully escaped the lair of their 'father'... But she suffered a terrible fate at the hands of the demon.

Now, this is where it gets a little hazy, for neither of them can remember much of what happened after they escaped. The earliest memories they have after this event is the construction and management of the Takana Hotsprings & Inn, a turning point in their lives. Vincent became more familiar with his elementalist abilities and also managed to dominate minor shapeshifting whereas Vanni had a major grasp in the latter. Vincent, however, turned away from the elements to develop a magic style with Zericho Azerich, an old friend. Together, they devised "Mahou", a magic school which merges together many concepts from both eastern and western magic, following the principles of the Thousand Master and Negi Springfield as well as Jack Rakan, Takane D. Goodman and various other famous mages of yore.

Background Story

Chapter 1: Homeworld

There's not a whole lot to say about his birthplace. It is one iteration of Earth that has been long forgotten by the Multiverse; one that Vincent has not visited in years and which has most likely turned into the breeding grounds of his father. The memories he recorded in papyrus sheets allow onlookers and readers to practically see everything that had happened back then. Simply touching the paper, images are directly instilled into the minds of whoever manages to do so and they are instantly rewarded with knowledge. Vincent recommends that those without any control over magical energies or those without focus refrain from approaching his current library scattered through the floors of his tower.

The Takana Inn was famous for its natural hotsprings. None of the customers knew that, in actuality, the springs had been a creation of Vincent and his sister. Through carefully manipulating the elements of fire, water, earth, and wind, the Fiorelli was able to recreate an environment of sheer relaxation. He could have easily created dungeons, fake battlefields, and even manipulate the mountain the inn was set on and turn it into a volcano, but none of them were business choices. None of them would allow the twins to settle peacefully and to disappear from the radar of his father.

The few brothers and sisters that managed to stumble upon the Takana Inn promptly made their objective known; they were to bring Vincent and his twin sister back to their father. As such, this ensued the start of a drawn out conflict where he was required to use every trick in his book to keep the assailants - to keep his family - at bay. Through several run ins with them, Vincent was able to grow stronger until a final encounter with his father within his sister's mind. The ancient demon had decided to attack one of his own daughters and Vincent was forced to reach his first spike in power and liberate his sister's mind. After a grueling battle, the demon was pushed away and the Fiorelli initiated research in mental barriers. It was only after a single day that he had come up with the necessary defenses to protect the mind from external attacks, bestowing this protection on his sister after extensively testing it.

Chapter 2: The Path of the Sword

While visitors from other realms were not a rare occurrence at the Takana Inn, organized groups with weapons drawn was something that nobody expected. The friends the twins had made in the region rushed to their aid and, in no time at all, the entire area had turned into a war zone. They scattered individually to face the incoming threat - though one of them had to take on a team - and began to fight for dominance over the mountain.

Zericho Azerich was fried to a near-death state by a bolt of red lightning coming from Natomouge.

Edan was forced to fight Alabaster and Kajurou and ended up getting ripped apart. Through his control over the element of earth, he was able to turn to dust at the last minute and reformed close by, but ended up frozen on the spot a few minutes after.

Sutoraikku was destroyed by a plasma beam fired by his opponent, Kamon.

Hitamashi met a grim end at the hands of Thomas Balvice after an elaborate technique was rendered useless by the latter.

Vincent ended up facing Ignatius Eldridge in a bout mainly encompassing elemental techniques and swordsmanship. It was right there that he'd realized not only how weak he was in the grand scheme of things, but how stronger he had become compared to his peers. Forced to surrender due to his lack of experience, Vincent and his friends struck a deal with their assailants: In exchange for training, they would pass the ownership of the mountain over. Most of Vincent's friends stayed to guard the mountain and to train on the spot, but he journeyed with his newfound teachers to the Isamahii Gardens; a location far, far away from the Takana Hotsprings.

It is here that Vincent's training with the sword begins under the tutelage of Ran, Sohjin Kasake, Kajurou, and Shiki. It was an era filled with intense combats and arduous study, and he would grow to learn different skills from each swordmaster. From Ran, he learned not to rely too much on techniques; strategical points of view often beat hasty approaches. From Sohjin, he learned the basics of combat and how to further expand on them; often times, the only thing we need is to be led down a good path to follow. From Kajurou, he learned how to expand his repertoire of elemental techniques in the battlefield; when something does not work, refine it properly until it does. From Shiki, he learned balance; the momentum one garners in a fight is always there, carried by the body.

Through the perfect synergy of these principles, Vincent evolved into one of the best fighters of the Isamahii Gardens and eventually managed to graduate from their training. Perhaps, just perhaps, he is capable of surpassing every single fighter or teacher in the Gardens at the present time.

Chapter 3: A True Master; An Eternal Student

Swordsmanship and elementalism only got the growing Vincent so far. His interests lay beyond the powers found within mother nature; he desired to learn more and to continue evolving beyond what he already was. When Zericho Azerich approached him about an ancient ruin he'd discovered, Vincent wasted no time in going over to investigate. What they managed to find there were scrolls preserved through magical means in the bottommost chambers of the ruin. The storage area was completely untouched by the passing of time but the protective incantations disappeared the moment Vincent picked up the first scroll.

The two of them spent weeks deciphering the texts, and while some parts were written in the common language of the Multiverse, others were written in Latin and Greek. In order to receive the gift the scrolls eventually presented to them, Vincent enacted a seal upon his elemental powers, hoping it would keep the beast within him down. The truth was that while he gained power through training, the demonic side - heritage from his father - hiding deep in his soul wanted out and its pleas were only growing stronger by the day. The seal allowed Vincent to keep it in check while regulating the overall power he possessed. It allowed him to accept the gift of magic from the ruin's spoils.

Zericho and Vincent spent nearly a month learning how to cast each and every single spell before perfecting them. Some of them were in an incomplete state while others simply ran rampant once cast. They needed more focus, more concentration, and more expertise with magic. It was harsh training, more so than learning swordsmanship, but it paid off in the end. Vincent's body underwent more changes to the point that his blood transfigured into sheer energy and his flesh grew stronger. With this change, he was left vulnerable to many types of attacks that could target or mitigate energy as a whole, and thus fail safes were set in place.

Runic writing was carved in his bones and he found out that the illusion of pain was completely dulled within him. He could choose whether the signal would be transmitted to his 'brain' or simply to ignore it altogether. Many physical functions were deemed as optional, such as eating or drinking, sleeping or having sex; even breathing. They were no longer necessities to sustain his physical body, which only meant that he could even subsist in harsh outer space. Of course, there were more factors that came into play, such as protective enchantments, techniques that he'd practiced daily and soon became passive to him, and what not.

Once their magic had been fully fleshed out, Zericho and Vincent donned "Mahou" - the name of the magic school - proudly in honor of its previous practitioners. To this day, Vincent continues to improve the spells and techniques of Mahou, ranging from the ever useful martial arts contained within it to the dangerous Magia Erebea. In the confines of his tower, the self nominated magister magi practices his magic in peace and quiet. The nature of his experiments is unknown other than to expand his own power and to share his knowledge with whoever he deems fit.

Chapter 4: The Multiversal Envoy

With greater power, greater responsibilities fell upon the Fiorelli's lap. That he was a prodigy in his own community and that there were no challenges left for him to tackle there forced him to seek excitement elsewhere. He decided to 'leave the nest', so to speak, and to expand his knowledge through seeking out other realms and universes. The Multiverse was a vast place, after all, and no single entity had been to every single universe out there. It was during one of these escapades to another realm that he stumbled upon Beramode Aurelius Pendragon. There was apparent hostility between the two of them for a brief moment before they realized that they could strike up a valuable alliance. In exchange for Vincent preserving the Pendragon family name, Beramode would grant him power and take him around the Multiverse whenever there was anything interesting going on.

Amongst some of these encounters, Vincent can recall their battle against an horrendous creature that they dubbed the 'Lord of Jewels' - which Vincent still keeps the head of -, and a special meeting with the entity 'Brobdingnag.' It is important to note that the last meeting took place in one of the many Hells across the Multiverse and that Vincent has managed to recover quite a bit of knowledge from the arcane tomes hiding deep within Brobdingnag. Through this era, Vincent made it a point to make his magical power known across the expanse of the Multiverse; however, the realization that he had become to rely too much on his magic slapped him in the face when he was forced to fight Caitlyn, the Voidmistress at the planet of Regulus. He left the planet in a weakened state and has since been coming up with ways to stop abusing his magic.

It was a feat that resulted an impossibility once he managed to visit the realm known as The Keep. His allies and him encountered a presumably powerful group dubbed the 'Primoris.' Vincent observed their lack of technological apparatuses and their lack of spaceships despite the claims that the Primoris held galaxies in their names. As much power as they could claim to possess, they could only be regarded as minor outlaws with a sense of hierarchy given that they respected etiquette and foreign titles. After establishing communication with one of the region's most influential women with a firm grip in the political ties of the realm, the magister nominated himself a Multiversal envoy. While the conflict with the Primoris did not go anywhere, chances are that, in the future, Vincent and his allies will claim control of the dominion to ensure less chaos is wrought across the Multiverse.

While this does mean Vincent sees a lot less combat than before, the possibility of learning from new cultures and getting to know more and more people every day means that he has essentially lost nothing. Combat was but one way of studying people; through communicating with them and the members of high social, political, and military standing within other cultures, he is able to extract more data and information with simple inquiries.

Chapter 5: The League's Interest

Vincent's first encounter with the League dates back to many months ago - perhaps five or longer - from the present time. He had utilized his raw power over magic and boundaries to bypass several barriers the high councilors had set in place to protect the storage of magical artifacts and stole a single copy of every item. Amongst these items was the crystal ball the summoners use to watch, command, and aid their summoned champions in the Rift or elsewhere. It was not long after that Vincent was approached by High Councilor Heyward Relivash, initially seeking out to punish him to no avail.

Heyward attempted to utilize the tricks summoners were known for performing at Champion Judgments and tried to tamper with Vincent's mind. Once realizing that it was not possible, the high summoner attacked the Fiorelli and the latter was forced to defend himself. The battle lasted several days in a remote location of Valoran that Vincent purposefully sealed away through a bounded field - a magical circle encompassing the entire region where the fight took place so as to not to harm the environment. Although Heyward employed his most powerful magic against Vincent, the latter only appeared to absorb these spells only to fire his own back in rapid succession. The high councilor was not aware of the Fiorelli's magic expertise until his defeat was sealed, but Vincent did not kill him. Instead, they struck a deal; in exchange for Vincent's magical expertise, he would be allowed to join the League and be granted all the benefits of a full fledged summoner.

It was tough to accept that an outsider could actually defeat the most powerful summoner in all of the League thus far, but the kind of power Vincent dealt with encompassed a global - if not cosmic - scale. While he shared very little information with Heyward Relivash, often giving him exactly what he asked for, he was able to pick up signs of something darker within the Institute of War. Admittedly, the magister had no proof whatsoever outside of what he had heard here and there. Inquiring with several champions and reading the Journal of Justice - and dreading how the newspaper had been discontinued -, Vincent was able to pile up a hefty amount of information about Runeterra and the League.

Nowadays, the Fiorelli pursues knowledge with thirst similar to the void champion's known as Vel'koz; however, he doesn't share the flair for blasting or blowing things up. He prefers to talk with people, particularly with champions or summoners he deems interesting. It is not rare to see him with a crystal ball and a notebook overseeing a match or two whenever he does come around the Institute. Although his talents as a summoner are innate, he still strives to improve and to, eventually, break the shackles of the Institute of War across all of Runeterra. Of course, this objective will take time and hard work from his part, mainly due to the gathering of evidence. The League's involvement could not be proven fully even by Katarina, Jarvan, Garen, and Talon. As such, more careful investigations are required. For the time being, he will enjoy his life as a summoner within the universe of Runeterra.

Chapter 6: The Vanguard of the Magister

The knowledge littering the libraries of the Institute of War was unlike anything else Vincent had seen. It was only after interacting with the construct known as Orianna that he began to grow interested in the possibility of making objects of the sort, ultimately trying his hand at the creation of inanimate objects that could experience life as though they were another human being. The process was not easy and it often ended with burned husks and the destruction of artificial parts. In fact, several floors of the magister’s tower had to be reconstructed from scratch on three occasions; the magical energy contained within the husks was so large that the miscalculations could have ended Vincent’s life had he not been careful with runic protection. It almost ended the life of his student, Mai, though she was also protected through the tower’s inherent defensive systems. No rooms were touched by the explosions but everything else disappeared in a flash of light.

And then it hit him. He only needed something to stabilize the power, be it living or non-living. He required a catalyst, so to speak. The last husk he picked apart was a woman in her late twenties. She had been conserved as though she was still alive, but the Fiorelli knew better. Frozen in time, the husk never decayed nor was it affected by rot; in fact, it was still warm to the touch the moment he brought her out. Her body was carefully placed on an azure dais where she floated roughly sixty centimeters above it and Vincent began to work. Several incisions were made across her pristine skin as vast quantities of the material Fiorellite appeared to merge with her skin, flesh, and bones. Unlike previous husks, this one showed a particular affinity for the material. The catalyst that he finally utilized was nothing more than the modified version of a particular virus that an ally of the magister had acquired and shared with him.

The sentient virus would merely aid in reactivating the body of the construct and artificially – and biologically – infuse life within it… Until it became part of the construct’s conscience as a whole. They would merge with the neurons of the human brain to create a being whose thought processes were far superior to that of a common human. The sturdy body the construct was given ensured that it could resist the elements as well as many conventional hostilities. The last touch was a heart created from scratch: a Fiorellite core. Shining vibrantly with a powerful mixture of energies, a sizable incision ensured that he could pry open her chest and deposit the heart in the void within the creation’s body. The results were instantaneous. The heart connected with the rest of the body and with the mixed conscience of the woman to finish giving birth to the construct.

Vincent would not dare give such a construct a name, only a title; the Vanguard of the Magister. As a construct and a possible protector to the Fiorelli, she needed means to defend herself. The heart within her activated a complex system of weaponry that bestowed her with different kinds of weapons and armor whenever desired. However, most of the power it contained would prove to be deadly for her at the moment and, as such, several pieces of equipment were sealed until she was ready to accept them. Once she opened her eyes and glanced over at him, she managed to utter two words just like he'd predicted…

Cinnamon Kalonice; her name.

» Fiorelli & Azerich Magic School «
This is the school of magic discovered by Zericho Azerich and Vincent Fiorelli many years ago. The entire school is documented in ancient texts that Vincent keeps within the Secret Library of Hyades. He has taken to calling these the 'Fiorelli Codex.'

» Theory Of Magic.
» Theory Of Wards.
» Western And Eastern Magic.
» Various Martial Arts.
» Various Swordsmanship Styles.
» 24 Branches of magic. Ask if curious.

The Theory of Magic, as the name implies, involves all topics that deal with the background of the specific magic school that both Vincent and Zericho adopted as their own. The information contained within includes but is not limited to what their mages were, how they used their magic, the types of methods that they could use to cast spells and harness magical energies, and more. In the Fiorelli’s codex, this section merely takes up a measly pair of pages in the assortment of scrolls.

The Theory of Wards could technically fall under the Theory of Magic, though for the sake of having everything documented properly, Vincent has set this apart along with several other topics. It involves the creation and maintaining of geometric rituals and drawings that can - but don't necessarily - borrow the power of Gods and other spirits to increase their strength and effectiveness. Aside from that, specific wards can be created that put the entire space under the caster’s control, allowing him or her to dictate what happens within them, manipulating the laws of reality and the borders that govern the planes.
Reality Marbles, for example, are extremely powerful wards or bounded fields.

- The ever so handy technique of Reinforcement is found in these scrolls, in where it’s explained that contrary to the traditional image of magicians in combat – how they can avoid the use of armor that could encumber them or hinder not only their magic but also their capabilities for melee combat -, mages can channel mana into their own bodies to massively reinforce their physical capabilities. This can be done to the point that they can match trained soldiers in physical ability and even exceed what normal humans are capable of. Vincent has practiced this technique for years and has eventually been able to permanently increase his physical capabilities; most mundane attacks and their more powerful variants can be withstood by him with relative ease.

Western and Eastern magic involve two different applications of magic in the school. For one, Western magic is based around the cultural sphere of European influence. It conforms to the classic image of magicians, using mana as energy and requiring spells, incantations, and catalyst to activate magic. Unlike the amalgamation of schools that make up Eastern magic – Onmyou, Shinto, and Buddhism -, there are no styles found within Western magic. The only two languages of incantation are Latin and Ancient Greek, the former being common for most spells with the latter being solely reserved for High Ancient or high level magicks.

Particular mages can possess affinities to particular types of magic that they can excel in, though the style of the caster differs based on these attributes. For example, a mage excelling at wind could turn simple wind currents into a tornado and control all manners of gasses using air as a medium. Similarly, a mage who excels at water could control the moisture within the air to the point that they could create massive quantities of water out of nowhere.

Eastern magic proper involves the summoning of deities and spirits from other planes. What is known about this particular magic school is that the practitioner can call upon the forces of nature tied to the five deities pertaining to the Chinese concept of the Five Elements, the Wu Xing. These deities are, namely:

- Qing Long, the Azure Dragon, governing over the element of Wood and various materials.

- Zhu Que, the Vermillion Bird, governing over the element of Fire and various other materials and phenomena.

- Huan Long, the Yellow Dragon, governing over the element of Earth and various other materials.

- Bai Hu, the White Tiger, governing over the element of Metal and other materials.

- Xuan Wu, the Black Tortoise, governing over the element of Water and other materials.

Each of these deities can be summoned by the wielder of Eastern magic through precise rituals, though lesser applications of this school can allow the caster to freely manipulate elements and ignore certain, if not most, laws of physics.

There are also various other abilities and skills that have been picked up by Vincent through extensive study and research of the original inscriptions, murals, and other artifacts that depicted and explained the use of the entire magic school. A few of these found in Western applications are the Evil Eye, Demon Eye, Extrasensory Perception, and more.

- The Evil Eye is the catch-all term for magic which uses visual contact and the eyes, and is one of the basic elements of the wicked arts and curse magic. Namely, it projects malevolent magic simply by focusing evil intent into a gaze. Regardless of its use, however, this type of ‘magic power through eye contact’ is considered one of the foundations of magic itself as a craft. Evil eyes are generally associated with negative magic such as petrification, charms, and various destructive powers, so there are also many types of protection that ward against magic achieved through eye contact.

- The Demon Eye is another type of evil eye that allows the user to possess increased visual capabilities. It lets the user see spirits, target multiple targets at once without missing a beat, and to completely evade high speed attacks such as The Soundless Fist.

- Extrasensory Perception or Extrasensoria Perceptio is often shortened to ESP. It is basic cognitive magic to perceive the outside world, and it is a comparatively mundane form of magic but important as a foundation. It allows the user to read thoughts, detect specific types of magic, see the future, recognize intruders in an area, detect outside surveillance, see through illusions, feel and confirm the exact locations of others, and more. ESP is simply an extension on the normal senses of sight, smell, etcetera, which work by feeling changes through a medium. Mages communicate through telepathy by changing the concept of ‘speaking’; rather than using air as a medium to carry sound, they directly ‘feel’ and interpret each other’s intentions, giving words an unusual medium to travel through.

- Clairvoyance is also found underneath these applications, though it is no more than observing in real time details and events that your eyes cannot physically see. It is also a means of seeing the future in different applications.

- Magic Cancel is one of the last concepts under these applications. It is the complete nullification of magic and is often described as ‘the power to begin and destroy worlds’. The most extreme example of the Dispulso spell effect through causing mana – though it has been expanded upon to affect other types of energy aside from magical - to decay and ultimately dissipate. While some people are essentially invulnerable against magic spells due to this, magic affecting a fixed space around the target can end up overpowering this defense.

Eastern applications of magic are more direct and ultimately end up developing into four techniques of similar effect that enhance the speed and mental processing speed of the user through the channeling of mana or other forms of energy throughout the body. Similarly, the fifth application utilizes both qi, chi, or ki – as physical energy is considered qi under this magic school – and mana in order to bring about the ‘union of the opposing’.

- The Shundoujutsu, or Shundou for short, is the technique of quick move; it is often translated literally as ‘instant movement’. Through focusing qi or mana in the feet, the practitioner can cross a limited distance – which is generally three to seven meters for a beginner – in a burst of extreme speed, which is quick enough to appear almost instantaneous. The difference between Shundou and true teleportation is that the movement can be intercepted and the exit point calculated. Once the technique begins it cannot be stopped, and it must also be executed on some sort of foothold or surface. Practically bolstering the body with the mana that courses throughout the caster’s body, the practitioner of this technique is able to eradicate possible scenarios such as having their body torn apart by the extreme speeds that the technique could reach should further incantations be cast on top.

- The Kokuu Shundou, or Void Instant Movement, eliminates the Shundou’s weakness of requiring a foothold or a surface. The practitioner uses ‘air’ or ‘space’ as a foothold. As it can be performed in midair, movement in any direction becomes possible.

- The third application of this technique is the Shukuchihou, the ground contraction. It is the basis of Shundou and it not only encompasses simple rapid movement, but the compression of the leylines themselves. It is analogous to the Lorentz’s contraction in special relativity.

Aspect Creation: Vincent is capable of splitting himself many times to be in multiple places at the same time. He can split himself ten times based on the elements he masters, and roughly twenty four times based on the branches of magic he possesses for a total number of thirty four Aspects*. An Aspect is, in layman terms, a clone; a specific part of a person becoming a separate physical body who can also think on its own based on the portion of personality they formed themselves from.

To put it simply, say Vincent splits off the part of him that dominates Fire magic. That Aspect will possess a fiery personality, in accordance to the Fire element. He will be rash and reckless and he will only be capable of using magic attuned to Fire. An important part of Aspects is that, should they be killed, they will return to the original host without fail. Aspects cannot be absorbed or completely annihilated without eliminating the original host first. Any experience the Aspect obtains will be passed onto the host at the moment of return. This includes but is not limited to combat experience, information, conversations, and so on.

*Recently, Vincent has able to further develop the process of Aspect Creation in such a way that the number of Aspects capable of branching off from himself is essentially unlimited. It is rumored that he does so through a certain application of Endless Magic and the tampering with the Borders of Existence, though the exact method is currently unknown and undisclosed by the magister.

Lord Soul Piece: After Vincent's encounter with a powerful acquaintance by the name of Pendragon, he was bestowed a small piece of an amazing power known as the Lord Soul. The full soul possesses power far beyond measuring, allowing the user to influence an entire realm if they so desire. It is said that in one universe, the wielder of a Lord Soul ushered in an age of prosperity and Fire, keeping the Dark away. The inhabitants of his land enjoyed peace for roughly a thousand years. Lord Souls can vary in power depending on their wielder.

The magister is still researching this small piece of the Lord Soul he's been gifted, but study has been somewhat... Delayed. The fact that the piece has merged with his own soul makes it quite difficult for him to analyze it, and the sporadic displays of power coming from the soul's innate abilities are far too unpredictable. Long story short, Vincent has been focusing on adapting to the Lord Soul's shard to be able to call upon its power whenever necessary.

Presently, Vincent has managed to concentrate most of the energy belonging to this artifact into a dormant Aspect for further research.

» The Jeweled Azoth «
The pinnacle of his alchemical and magical creations. Forged with an alloy infused with raw mana and the power coursing through the leylines of the planet Earth - which he named Fiorellite -, this dagger possesses power far beyond the understanding of mere mortals. Locked up in Vincent's personal universe.

»Liberi Fatali«
The second pinnacle of his creations. The sword resembles a nodachi and was forged out of raw mythril infused with pure magical energies. As such, it can be considered as a magic weapon. Possesses a conscience of its own which manifests itself in the apple-sized ruby encrusted in its handguard. Covered in a myriad runes which boost its magical efficiency but not its already high cutting power. Contains single standalone versions of Vincent's spells.

»Faux Liberi Fatali (x9999~)«
An unlimited source of copies of Liberi Fatali. While fairly weaker than the original, they can be destroyed to release the overwhelming magical energies contained within, easily obliterating a large area around them. Can be summoned in large numbers. Locked up in Vincent's personal universe.

»Stack Of Cards«
Hand drawn by the magister himself, these cards possess different effects upon use. Given that they are not his preferred method of combat they do not see much use and many do not even know of their existence. As of 7/3/2013, the cards known are the following:

»Disbelief Aspect (x2)«
Creates a physical illusion of the magister, switching places temporarily with him. Can mimic Vincent's movements. Any attack launched by this illusion is, however, many times weaker. Disappears after a short moment. Ideal for baits and counter attacks as well as confounding the enemy.

»Moon Sign - Silent Selene (x1)«
Creates a circular boundary about the user. This boundary acts as a barrier and rapidly calculates any distance traveled by any attack before reacting. If a long range attack attempts to penetrate the barrier, it is purified, absorbed, and sent back towards the enemy with the same power. If a medium range attack attempts to penetrate the barrier, it is purified, absorbed, and returned towards the enemy with double its power. If an enemy itself attempts to penetrate the barrier, their depth perception and senses will be distorted. The flow of time will slow down for them, however, if they take any damage during this time, it will also be inflicted upon the attacker.

Set of the Shadow Queen

The set of the shadow queen is a full attire designed and crafted by the magister Vincent Fiorelli. It's meant to give the user a tremendous advantage in battle by hiding the aura signature they give off through the link established between the suit and a personal dimension as well as increasing the user's various basic attributes. This artificially created dimension is under the control of the armor's user - the person wearing it at the time. This is a point which should be stressed: The suit is not designed specifically to be used by one person; it will obey and act accordingly based on the whims of the person wearing it at the time.

The set consists of three pieces, two of which are integrated into the main armor and serve as weapons. Next, I'll explain each piece in detail.

Skinsuit of the Shadow Queen

This is the main and most important piece within the set. Its disguised form appears to be a plain looking, polished opal, and it's only when the gem is embedded in the body that its real form surges forth. The opal can be placed either on the middle of one's back, where it will sink into the flesh and latch onto the spinal cord, or in the middle of one's chest, where it will sink into it with a very small part of the jewel protruding from inside the skin. Now, another point that should be stressed is that the jewel will create the armor based on the user's preferences. To clarify, gathering the memories and the user's previous attires, it will create a new one specifically tailored to the person using the gem. It can be a knight's suit, an immense armor, or simple pieces of clothing such as a shirt and a pair of pants or light leather armor. Any form it takes will match the coloration of the user's liking.

The composition of the suit, however, is a different matter altogether. No matter what form the suit takes, it will always be made of the key material the Fiorelli crafted. Perhaps arrogant, perhaps as a whim, Vincent named this material "Fiorellite", a flexible metal that is, at the same time, not one. Through months of research, he came up with a new substance that is not only flexible and light, but extremely resistant and capable of stopping powerful blows - almost as though the suit was metallic.

Soft to the touch despite its looks, whenever the suit's user is in danger, it will enter a "Defensive" mode and concentrate vast quantities of kinetic, psychokinetic, and metaphysical energies entirely under its own influence to defend the wearer. At the moment of impact, the suit will release this energy to counteract the enemy's attack/s, where it will be ultimately nullified through either dissipation and absorption (if it's energy), destruction, or deflection. Energy dissipated will be purified and taken in by the suit by calculating the wandering points of the dissipated 'particles'. Energy destroyed will aid the suit in a manner which will be explained at the end.

The suit's defensive effects cannot be bypassed through conventional means once it is functional as the Skinsuit of the Shadow Queen is specifically crafted to protect the user from all angles and to prevent surprise attacks when outside of battle. When the user enters battle wearing the suit, however, the defensive properties are limited to the user's awareness. Outside of battle, the suit offers full passive protection.

Aside from providing these defenses, it will also increase the user's normal speed and reaction time, boost physical flexibility, increase stamina, increase raw strength, and offer minor boosts to resistances against the fire and lightning elements.

Spines of the Shadow Queen

Although they're called "Spines", these will take on the form the user deems fit for their bodies or their weapon(s) mastery/masteries. Their normal forms are two long, curved blades, each one jutting out from a pair of gauntlets. These gauntlets will respectively cover the whole extent of the user's arms, and they will only alter the details on their frame, engravings (should they have any), and other minor details to match the armor. The gauntlets will not be altered, as they "make" the weapon(s), so to say. Should the user's mind contain records of any martial art they have practiced in the past, these will assume their spine form, whereas if they practice any other sort of discipline, a pair of weapons concerning that discipline will be created.

Some examples include:

In swordmanship - Dual Kodachi; Sword and Sheath; Dagger and Sheath; Sword and Dagger; Dual Swords; Dual Daggers; Rapier and Sheath; Dual Rapiers; etcetera.

In archery - Bow and Unlimited Arrows; Long Bow and Unlimited Arrows; Crossbow and Unlimited Bolts; Siege Crossbow and Unlimited Bolts; etcetera.

System hasn't been tested extensively but the possibilities are probably limitless.

It also makes use of Endless Magic in order for arrows, bolts, and other kinds of ammunition in short or long ranged weapons to never run out. These weapons are made out of "Fiorellite" as well, and are capable of storing large quantities of kinetic, psychokinetic, metaphysical, and various forms of elemental energies. The weapons attune themselves with the energy signature of the user, making it easy for the wearer to channel elemental attacks and other abilities through them.

The Dimension of the Shadow Queen

This is a perfect copy of Vincent Fiorelli's personal dimension sans the objects he keeps within. Though, to say it is a 100% carbon copy is erroneous, as every time someone wields a Set of the Shadow Queen, a new dimension is created by the suit. It contains a myriad protective sigils, both defensive and offensive, with varying effects whenever activated. These effects range from the one activating the sigil being pelted with egg-like poison bombs to the more complex dimensional and/or planar eradication. Particular sigils have the power to create a parallel universe altogether, copying a certain point in history and discontinuing it, thus causing a dimensional collapse from where the one activating the trap cannot escape as all dimensional points are blocked by the sigil and by "time" itself.

The dimension serves to store a grand number of things within the countless bounded spaces it holds. The entire set possesses a direct link with this dimension that the user can use to throw in or pull things out from within at will. However, the user will not be able to throw in living creatures whose will they cannot control. (e.g.: can't throw other characters in. NPCs are fine, though.)

Stealth Mode

This is the Shadow Queen's boon. As long as the user wears this set of armor, Stealth Mode will be in effect passively. This means that the user does not have to activate it - it is always active -, but the wearer can issue a command to deactivate it if required. The Shadow Queen's influence will protect the wearer from any means of detection enemies could possess, practically making the user invisible to the enemy's senses. This will NOT turn a person invisible in plain sight - it will only turn them invisible in radar-like and sensor-like abilities, hiding their energy signature and aura. In the darkness or out in the open, the wearer of the Set of the Shadow Queen will appear as blurred and almost fully transparent, making it difficult for an enemy to fully lock onto them, be it with their eyes or additional senses.

Energy Absorption & Storing

As the suit was tailored with Endless Magic in mind, it can hold a limitless amount of energy deep within. The wearer can use this energy to fuel the attacks of the Spines, or simply store it for the Skinsuit's defensive systems. Keep in mind the defensive systems need to be directed manually (and possibly reactivated) - if and only if - the user steps into battle. Outside of battle, they are always active.

The suit can also absorb energy from the environment or from alternate universes, dimensions, or planes.

Destroyed Energy

The energy destroyed will fuel the dark part of the suit and strengthen the opal, thus strenghtening the user. If the quantity of energy destroyed becomes too high in the midst of the battle, an exact copy of the user wearing the suit will branch off and attack. This will cause the user's strength to grow exponentially until the copy is eradicated, bestowing additional defenses based on the type of energy that has been destroyed up to the point of immunity against it.

The copies created are called "Soul Jars" and cannot be treated as NPCs. They must be faced as an exact copy of the wearer, albeit slightly weaker. They are not comprised of energy, instead being flesh and blood, and will attempt to follow the wearer's thought process. Alternatively, they can also be controlled by the user.

Set of the Charred Winds

Originally designed to protect mounts and other animals, the Set of the Charred Winds has been lost for a long while and Vincent has not had the desire to create another one. Not because of the lack of materials, but rather the lack of a mount to craft it for.

Arms of the Forge

After studying the culture of Lynaeus extensively and visiting several regions within it, Vincent Fiorelli was able to pick up the weapon and armor crafting techniques of the most renowned blacksmiths of its world. From the refined and ornamental creations of Kellemderiel to the most harsh yet effective methods of The Kva, Vincent worked day in and day out in a realm where time flowed differently to craft this piece of armor that can also work as a handy weapon. He mainly utilized techniques from The Kva in its creation, most of them taught to him by master blacksmith Dagobert of the Forge. In a sense, Vincent bestowed the blacksmith's 'title' to the weapon in a way to honor and/or remember him.

The ore used by the magister in his crafts is named "Fiorellite", though it's unclear whether he named the material because of his own pride or arrogance, or just because it was a simple whim of his. The ore itself is a paradox bordering between a metal and a non-metal. Through months of research and figuring out how to tamper with the border of the elements, he came up with a new substance that is not only flexible and light, but extremely resistant and capable of stopping powerful blows. The metal is capable of absorbing the shock caused by physical impacts and causing the kinetic energy transferred at the point of contact to dissipate through its length, essentially releasing it elsewhere or absorbing it depending on the user's preference.

The Arms of the Forge are capable of stretching or compacting to adapt perfectly to the arms of their user. Once they're fully attached to someone it's practically impossible to remove them conventionally. Spikes which quantity is regulable by the wielder surge forth from the Arms and are laced with an incantation that practically allows them to tear through both physical and spiritual objects and creatures easily. There's also a spell modifier attached to this incantation - To Teichos Dierxastho - that allows the spikes to penetrate through barriers created through supernatural means. It often works through the essential 'drilling' of the barrier, tearing the supernatural molecules and atoms holding it together apart thus exposing the target underneath, but the wielder can even utilize their own methods to work with this spell modifier.

The Arms of the Forge are naturally resistant to the element of fire and are even capable of insulating lightning. They're virtually indestructible when faced with conventional means of attack, as such they're immune to bullets, punches, swords, and whatnot. The Arms also allow the user to channel their killing intent along their surface, making it possible to launch explosive punches at close range or long range attacks utilizing simply the focused shockwave of the physical blow. The kinetic energy transferred from blocked physical attacks can also be repurposed for use in this process.

As with every weapon or armor crafted by the magister, any and all outside energies that are taken in are purified before getting absorbed and any traces of external influences are eliminated.

The Arms of the Forge respond to Beramode Pendragon and his sons or daughters. They're practically unable to be handled by other people due to the weapons having their own 'will'.

The Slayer's Sword

This ornate steel blade is linked through the mind, body, and spirit, to the persona of Avun Shidino. Its blade's steel is separated exactly in the middle by a strip of an unknown black metal. It possesses a pattern, made with a mixture of this metal and the steel of the sword itself, that enhances Avun's speed and strength as well as cognition. While the weapon gives him a firm grip over the racial qualities he now possesses, it also chips away at his stamina during battle, making it a double edged blade.

Extreme Cutting Power: The blade's edge has been tempered to perfection using many forbidden techniques long forgotten by humanity. When Avun handles this sword, it will cut through any physical object or creature regardless of their strength or resistance. Stamina will be drawn from Avun to add on to blade's cutting power, requiring larger portions to cut stronger objects. The sword will never kill Avun regardless of his current stamina; at most, its cutting power will be reduced to that of a common steel blade, though its resistance will remain stalwart.

Comfortable Grip: The sword's handle has been forged and crafted many times to ensure the maximum comfort. Avun's strain is greatly reduced through the hilt's magical properties, and he will not tire out as quickly as when handling a normal blade in - or outside of - battle.

Symbiosis: Avun and the blade share an intrinsic link. The sword and its sheath can latch and unlatch to any part of Avun's body, even being able to -be- part of it. Through this symbiosis, Avun can merge the sword with any part of his body for use in stealth or full-blown offense. When Avun becomes one with the blade through fusing it with his arms, these will transfigure into identical blades with the capacity to cut through anything without chipping away at his stamina for a short period of time.

Increased speed: Avun's speed will be increased to the point where common human beings cannot keep up with it. He will be perceived as a blur most of the times, and sometimes not even perceived at all.

Increased strength: Avun's strength will be increased to many times the normal human's physical power. In addition, he will gain increased flexibility as his muscles become stronger in order to keep his body from strain.

Increased cognition: Avun's intellect, observation powers, and mental processing speed are increased to match his newly acquired speed. When he is not moving, Avun's eyes will notice up to the most minute details in the environment around him as well as detect minor heat signatures and sounds around him.

Combat Disease: Every time Avun cuts something with his weapon, the sword will calculate his total and current stamina, his normal strength, and the possibility of the weapon cutting the target without any added force, tiring him out based on these variables. If Avun could slice through the target without the weapon adding any amount of power, then he will suffer no change to his stamina. On the other hand, if the blade has to add on to its own cutting power, the stamina needed to convert to power will be calculated, discounting the total from the handle's imbued abilities.

Lombardia

Originally designed as House Tsukimoto's flagship, it ended up as one more weapon and method of transport in Vincent's arsenal. A modified cruiser capable of destroying most - if not all - ships that attempt to bring a grim fate to the House or to the magister himself.

The Lombardia is a cruiser. A cruiser is generally a middle-weight combatant that is faster than a dreadnought and more heavily armed than the swifter frigates. They are standard patrol units which often lead frigate flotillas. This specific cruiser is roughly three hundred meters long and houses five different decks: the Combat Information Center, the Engineering deck, the Hangar, the Crew’s Quarters, and the Central Laboratory.

The ship has been snatched from a universe which information has not yet been disclosed, and modified by the magister mage Vincent Fiorelli. Although not skilled on a technological level, he has been able to apply his knowledge of witchcraft, magic, and blacksmithing in general to completely modify the cruiser, further enhancing the ship’s armor plating and installed weapons. The material “Fiorellite†has come into play for this upgrading, a special ore that straddles the line of metallic and non-metallic properties. In reality, the material is alive and ever-changing, and it could very well be said that objects created with Fiorellite grow with their wielder. Be it a weapon, a piece of armor, an ornament, or a vehicle, the object gains a sentience of its own but it will obey the desires of their owner or wielder, and they will grow accordingly depending on the combat experience they gain with each battle.

Let us rewind for a brief moment and talk about Lombardia's decks, as these are the rooms every person that boards the ship will be treading daily:

The Combat Information Center (CIC) – It is comprised of the ship’s bridge, the smaller Research and Tech Labs, the Armory, the Communications Room, and the main airlock. The bridge is generally manned by one or two people who are in charge of ‘driving’ the ship, so to speak. The CIC is centered around a large galaxy map, which can be projected on the floor tiles or even in midair, and which can be used to plot the East Of The Moon’s next destination.

The smaller Research and Tech Labs are situated behind the CIC, and they are used for analyzing small samples of materials and the like as well as figuring out their possible implementations. The person in charge of these labs is also in charge of the Central Laboratory. More information on the latter down below.
The Armory houses the weapons available to the crew as well as the addition of newly acquired and newly developed weapons and armor. Generally there will be a few people in charge of organizing the crew’s loadout before deployment.
The Communications Room is dominated by a large, round conference table where the person in charge of a previously discussed mission can hold briefings and discussions with the crew. Aside from this, it can be used by crew members to communicate with other people throughout the multiverse in real time thanks to the ship’s communications array.

The Engineering Deck – This deck houses Lombardia's core. It’s a large, pulsating mass of metal and flesh-like tissue which brims with raw power. Engineers housed here take care of maintaining the core as well as fixing whatever needs fixing within the inner workings of the ship. There is a trash compactor located in the Starboard Cargo Area, complete with a video surveillance monitor that aids the engineers with faulty systems and the like. The monitor, much like Lombardia, is fully sentient, often making small talk with the engineers and helping them out whenever necessary.

The Hangar – This is the lowest deck in the ship and where various shuttles and vehicles available for deployment are stored. Nothing much else to say about this room.

The Crew’s Quarters – This is where the crew spends most of their time within the ship. It includes a specific room for each crew member where they can perform their regular and daily activities, bathrooms, life support control, a mess-hall run by a chef skilled in multiversal delicacies, and the AI core. The latter is located at the rear of the medical bay, which is run by a doctor specializing in magical, technological, and standard methods of healing. Aside from these rooms, there is the Starboard Observation chamber, where the crew’s library is located, the Port Observation chamber, which includes a small entertainment center and a minibar, and the Gaming Zone, which includes computers, consoles, and various other means of entertainment. The Playstation 35 and the Xbox 9600 stand out the most amongst the consoles, while the Pentium 555 appears to be the top choice for PC gamers.

The Central Laboratory – This is where the bulk of the crew’s research and experimenting occurs and the newly created pieces of armor and weapons are tested. There are various protective runes and systems overlooking the process of creation, testing, researching, and experimenting which effectively capture, purify, and absorb any energy released in the event of an explosion or in the event of instability. Thanks to these systems, any member of the crew can try their hand at creating new objects, weapons, or armor, so long as it’s beneficial for their comrades and the mission at hand.

Lombardia's Armaments

The weapons and armor that Lombardia possesses are far from standard, as the mixture of technology and magic has changed most of their original aesthetics and effects.

Runic Disruptor Torpedoes: These are powered projectiles with warheads that create random and unstable fields of energy when triggered. These fields warp space-time in a located area through the use of ‘dark energy’. Dark energy is the name given to the universal “fifth forceâ€. Like electromagnetism or gravity, dark energy influences all matter and its effects can be seen on both cosmological and subatomic scales. The repulsive effects of dark energy are the primary reason the expansion of the multiverse is gradually accelerating. All in all, the rapid asymmetrical mass changes causes the target of the torpedoes to rip itself apart. During flight, torpedoes use a mass-increasing field which makes them too massive for enemy kinetic and psychokinetic barriers to repel. Because extra mass retards acceleration, torpedoes are easy prey for defensive weapons systems and must be launched at extremely close range. These torpedoes possess several sets of runes that nullify damage to the parent craft, meaning that they can be launched right away without the necessity of ‘cold-launching’ (releasing them before their thrusters ignite) them. These runes can also protect the torpedo from at least one attack, be it magical or physical, before fizzling out.

Titan Cannon: The Titan Cannon is a powerful weapon specifically designed as one of the tools capable of turning the tides of a battle – or of outright eliminating the opposition in one fell swoop. It uses an electromagnetic field to shape and accelerate a stream of superheated molten metal to relativistic velocities, which then impacts its target and deals horrendous amounts of damage. The weapon’s fire appears as a bright blue beam and is strong enough to destroy a Dreadnought with one shot. Vincent has made several modifications to the original cannon of the ship, further enhancing the power of the blast. Runes etched on the barrel of the cannon add a special anti-barrier property, giving the stream the capability to outright pierce through kinetic and psychokinetic barriers amongst others. A second set of runes protect the ship and the cannon from overheating in the process of firing, allowing several consecutive shots in a relatively short span of time. Any excess energy will be received by the third set of runes around the barrel, recycling and using it up in the event of future shots.

Good Ol’ Lasers: These standard lasers have been further enhanced by magic and the same runes capable of adding anti-barrier properties to the weapon. As with the Titan Cannon, excess energy is absorbed and used up in future streams of ether-, mana-, or regularly enhanced superheated light.

Lombardia's Defenses

Fiorellite Armor: The armor plating is nearly unsurpassed in strength and can resist even the tremendous heat and kinetic energy of starship weapons. The original plating was already powerful enough to withstand many kinds of hardships, given its central material - carbon nanotube sheets woven with diamond Chemical Vapor Deposition which are crushed by extreme pressure fields into super-dense layers able of resisting extreme temperatures; the process also compensates for diamond’s brittleness. The Fiorellite ore added onto this armor causes the material to grow in strength with each battle the ship sees, eliminating the ever growing list of more and more weapons that could penetrate through the ship’s hull as time passes.

Runic Cyclonic Barrier Technology (RCBT): RCBT attempts to solve the higher-end limitations of the traditional kinetic barriers. Whereas traditional kinetic barriers cannot block high-level kinetic attacks such as disruptor torpedoes because of the torpedoes’ dark energy fields which add to their mass, the RCBT violently slaps aside rather than halting incoming linear force. By rotationally firing their protective field projectors, Lombardia can create rapidly oscillating kinetic barriers instead of static ones. Shooting through the RCBT is like trying to shoot at a target inside a spinning ball. The runes added onto the module further enhance the strength of the barriers and, should the RCBT emitter be damaged, it corrects itself to become a traditional shield array enhanced by the runes. These runes also give the RCBT the capability to actually deflect magical or energy-like attacks back towards their attacker, but it is a feature with a cooldown of three minutes per reflection.

GUARDIAN: The General Ultimate Area Defense Integration Anti-spacecraft Network consists of anti-missile and anti-fighter laser turrets on the exterior hull. These have been further enhanced from the original installment on the ship, altered with Fiorellite and with Vincent’s magecraft. Each turret can fire a network of lasers that intercepts incoming missiles and even pursue fighter and interceptor class ships. Up to ten lasers can be fired from each turret, each with homing properties that are virtually incapable of damaging the parent vessel due to the aforementioned defensive capabilities. Aside from that, the GUARDIAN lasers can also be fired at cruisers, dreadnoughts, and other ships with 100% accuracy. Since lasers move at light speed, they cannot be dodged by anything moving at subluminal speeds. Unless the beam is aimed poorly, it will always hit its target, however, GUARDIAN fire is not 100% lethal nor does it have to be. Lasers are limited by diffraction. The beam ‘spreads out’, decreasing the energy density the weapon can place on a target. Any high-powered laser is a short range weapon. GUARDIAN networks have been enhanced to remove the limitation of heat as, normally, weapons-grade lasers require a cooldown time during which heat is transferred onto sinks or radiators. As lasers fire, heat builds within them, reducing damage, range, and accuracy, however, this is null and void for the GUARDIAN.

Lombardia’s Propulsion And Power Systems

Enhanced Antiproton Thrusters: These eight large antiproton thrusters have been further enhanced to provide more than enough mobility and speed for the entire ship, with both aft and forward exhausts. Antiprotons are injected into a reaction chamber filled with hydrogen and the resulting matter-antimatter annihilation provides unmatched motive power. The exhaust of antiproton drives is measured in millions of degress Celsius, and any vessel caught behind them will melt like wax in a blowtorch. The Fiorelli’s involvement with these thrusters allows the ship to use an extremely minor quantity of fuel, compared to the original array, in a much more powerful manner. Endless magic has been applied to the extended fuel cells that the magister found in the propulsion system, quite literally giving the ship an unlimited source of fuel to burn.

Draconic Drive Core: The DDC is powered by raw streams of ether and by a central nuclear fusion plant. Disruptive defensive technology prevents outer influences from controlling or manipulating the ether within the core. H-fuel cells can provide auxiliary power in case the main reactor is shut down. Aside from that, a secondary DDC generates mass concentrations that the Lombardia “falls intoâ€, allowing it to move without the use of heat-emitting thrusters. It also generates a powerful field around the ship that enables FTL travel. Aside from this, the two DDCs serve a secondary purpose; transformation. Lombardia possesses a module that allows it to completely change its form into a beast reminiscent of a dragon. Not only do its weapons systems become further empowered, but the ship can utilize powerful Fiorellite claws and tail to tear enemy ships apart and rend them asunder.

Lombardia’s Additional Systems

Modular Probe Bay: Probes are small crafts designed solely to recover valuable resources from planets and investigate anomalies detected on them. Up to 100 probes can be stored in the bay. Vincent has enhanced these probes so that the resources gathered are automatically transferred to a pocket space which is then accessed by the East Of The Moon to recover resources without any major issue. Bear in mind that the pocket space is protected by multiple runes that even act against anti-magic equipment, rendering it useless, in order to protect the East Of The Moon.

Auric Sensors: The regular sensors for this ship used passive and active scanners, such as visual, thermographic, and radio detectors, radar, and LADAR (LAser Detection and Ranging). LADAR has a narrower field of view than radar, but ladar resolution allows images of detected objects to be assembled. Vincent, after fiddling with the equipment, has managed to install Auric Sensors to the ship. These are capable of mapping out an entire area based on the readings of aura – lifeforce – of living and non-living objects, and then classify each one with specific names and colors.

Runic Stealth Systems: Lombardia has the capability to not only sink its heat within the hull and combining this with the refrigeration of the exterior hull allowing for it to travel undetected for hours. It has the capability to turn completely invisible when traveling through open space or even when hovering near a planet. Vincent has melded his knowledge of technology with his knowledge over magecraft to design a spell capable of being triggered and reused multiple times through the application of Endless Magic which practically causes the ship to literally absorb and refract light perfectly without leaving a glass-like pattern behind. Should this approach fail, the ship can phasewalk, becoming invisible in one realm yet visible in another.

The Magister’s Lair

Located near the central region of the Sahara, slightly to the east of the Ahaggar mountains and delving within the Libyan Desert, what appears to be an enormous slab of black rock extends towards the skies. An artificially grown jungle expands across what once was sand, though its composition has been tampered with, ultimately shifting the entire scenery and transforming it all into rich and fertile dirt. The whole area – a kilometer around the tower – is saturated with mana and rich in Mist, often producing illusory images and messing with the minds of weaker creatures, such as humans or simple Earthly animals. The Mist often takes the form of an iridescent – though usually orange – semi-transparent fog. Light at the edges of the jungle, the quantity and density of the Mist becomes higher the closer one gets to the tower.

The effects on the Mist vary wildly depending on the length of exposure and strength of the fog. For example, animals like dogs and cats could suffer mutations to their bodily structure, growing larger and consequently stronger, their reflexes could see themselves magically augmented, and they could even gain the capability to utilize low level magic attacks as though they inherently possessed them. In rare cases, such creatures can gain heightened cognitive processes, becoming monsters that are eventually sought after by hunters and researchers alike. Beings that are used to constant exposure to magical energies won’t see any change on their physiology or thought processes, naturally being capable of pushing the mental disturbances aside as well. At most, they’d only perceive a small buzzing in the back of their minds.

The once normal-looking jungle has also undergone several changes over the years of exposure to the Mist, as trees and plants evolved while taking in the rich magical energies permeating the environment. Fly traps have developed, becoming deadly man eating plants with enough intelligence to lure their prey through an array of scents and slight psychic skills to project sounds and illusions alike. Common predators have evolved into ferocious beasts that assault each other or sometimes escape the jungle in search of better prey. Most of them perish in the desert, though very few have been rumored to reach small human settlements, either devouring each and every single individual in the camps or meeting a premature death at the hands of men.

The natural defenses of the magister’s lair rely on both the Mist and the creatures within his jungle, but there’s more than meets the eye. First and foremost, several layers of enchantments surround the extent of the area – barriers encompassing the width and length of the jungle – that quite literally drive prying eyes away. This is done carefully and mostly through the beholder’s senses. Were a human traveler gaze upon the jungle from afar, they would regard it as nothing more than a mirage and carry on with their travels. The barriers simply suggest at the impossibility of a jungle in the middle of the desert and amplify the individual’s common sense according to Earthly ways. In the event that the traveler/s still found themselves drawn to the jungle, another series of enchantments kicks in merely to rearrange the thought processes of the humanoid/s staring upon the vast greenery. If all the above should fail, a third defensive measure ensures that whoever attempts to approach the jungle simply keeps walking in a straight line, giving them the illusion that they’re making progress but never actually growing closer to the magister’s true lair.

There exists a particular spot in the jungle where Vincent grows many different kinds of plants, herbs, and even vegetables and fruits. The trigger to reach this place exists as a slab of stone hidden deep within the underbrush and protected by a small puzzle. It is unknown even to the magister why the artifacts that make up the puzzle are completely indestructible, but the magic that binds it together also spreads throughout the entire area, rendering that portion of the desert under it protection. Even when Vincent punched the objects countless times, not a single dent was left upon its stone-like surface. In any event… Once the puzzle is solved, stepping on the slab of stone practically allows access to this specific pocket dimension.

Named the “Pleasing Gardenâ€, it’s a conglomeration of illusions and vast corridors that, unless one knows the exact way around them, it is impossible to travel through. Naturally, plates with riddles and what not exist all across the walls of the Garden, and there’s even a couple signs in areas where walls are practically nonexistent. It is of note that any power that would allow one to skip the trials of the Garden is automatically restricted upon entry, which basically makes people stepping inside the dimension no different from a common human. Vincent seems to be the only one exempt from that rule, believing that the pocket dimension is akin to – if not exactly the same as – a Reality Marble.

Perhaps the Reality Marble, capable of dictating the rules within it, has an effect on the portion of the desert that the slab protects. Seeing as how Vincent is one of the few who has been able to decipher the contents of the puzzle and access the Garden, it could be inferred that the Reality Marble has allowed him to control the laws and rules in effect within his lair and within the pocket dimension as well. The truth of the matter, however, is unknown even to the Fiorelli.

The Vambrace of Arctica

General Characteristics

• Name: Jack Van Burace.
• Gender: Male.
• Age: 27.
• Height: 5'9.75" / 177cm.
• Weapon of Choice: Sword. Namely his Arctic Blade.
• Occupation: Wandering Swordsman.

Jack's Story

Piercing eyes of brilliant emerald hue shifted from tile to tile as the treasure hunter, Jack Van Burace explored through an ancient dungeon which name was the "Temple of Memories". The treasure hunter’s attire was simplistic yet rugged, consisting of a dark brown trench coat with an underlying shirt of tan brown coloring that matched his pants. His Arctic Blade yielded a translucent mechanic body, sheathed in its respective metal case which remained securely attached to the right portion of a belt located at the center of his attire. As he gazed upon the chambers, torches and lamps positioned rather conveniently upon the walls and ceiling of the chambers lit up the entire area, though there were a few chasms etched in the ground near the walls of some rooms. These crevices were so deep that light failed to reach the innermost depths.

A little blue mouse climbed up the frontal part of his body, settling himself upon the golden haired man's right shoulder as they came across a large machine. The little creature was named Hanpan, a wind mouse. The speed that these lithe animals possessed allowed them to fly for a short amount of time, though they were quite fragile. The crimson eyes of the critter fixated themselves upon the controls of said machinery. "This is interesting, Jack. Here, let me try something..." Hanpan quickly jumped off of the swordsman's shoulder to tamper with the controls. A voice echoed from the object, telling them to input a name and the wind mouse put Jack's name on the computer, resulting in the opening of a single gate despite the tightened seal around the temple's entrance. There was no time to think about the reasoning behind this event; however, they had to move forward. "Good going, Hanpan! We might be able to find something in here after all." Jack commented to his companion. "I don't think so, Jack. A lot of treasure hunters have visited this temple in the past. There should be nothing left in here." The mouse replied. "... Even if there is not any treasure, we could still find a clue that brings me closer to the power I've been searching for all this time. It's worth exploring." The treasure hunter replied. Hanpan issued a nod of his head before crawling back into the dark brown pocket of his attire. They both wondered what they would find within the uncharted lands that they had just intruded into. Would they find power, or another challenge waiting for them?

They only took three steps into the new room before the floor underneath their feet crumbled in order to create the large crevasse that Jack whole-heartedly dove into. "Jack! You're crazy!!" Hanpan bellowed out as they cascaded into the ebony depths. The enhanced vision of the swordsman allowed him to scrutinize the panel of thirty spikes that closed in upon them from below with just enough detail to make out that each of them were roughly three feet in length. "Hang on, Hanpan! I'm going to try something wicked!" Jack shouted out before shifting his body in such a way that they could roll forward in midair. The strength behind his action was enough that they were able to narrowly avoid the certain death waiting in the spikes underneath them, although they did suffer an abrasive connection against a nearby wall instead.

"Ugh..." He groaned. They managed to land safely with little time to rest, for a huge stone shot out from an unknown location, threatening to splatter them. Jack performed a southwards sprint down the rocky terrain as the rock enclosed closely behind. As they traversed a spiral-like path, a large fissure erupted in the horizon. Jack ducked to the side as the chasm's deep and dark body uprooted a full three feet in proximity, swallowing the rock and resulting in its inevitable cascade into its hefty abyss. The treasure hunter thought about this spiraling corridor along with the trap and eventually came to the realization that he had found what he was searching for all along. He had gained inspiration for the creation of his first Fast Draw technique: The Psycho Crack.

This was only one of various trials, for he encountered a small repertoire of monsters within this area of the temple. Balloons: dark, corrupted sphere-like entities which try to eat you or slam into your body. Pillbugs: small, green monsters that have a tough shell. By spinning and slamming into you, they try to knock you out as if preluding the skeletons with axes. Unlike other common skeletons, these possess a heart which needs to be cut in order to eliminate them. After an hour of walking through the temple and felling monster after monster, Jack came across a room with two switches. One was in the easternmost side of the room while the other one resided in the westernmost side. A plaque in the northern wall of the room had a note attached to it which, when the golden haired treasure hunter approached it, read as follows.

"How the hell are you supposed to operate these? Every time I step on one of them and try to reach the other, I cannot!"

"Hmm... a trick." Hanpan commented in a hushed tone. "We need to step on both of them simultaneously in order for the 'door' to open." Jack simply nodded and sent Hanpan to the easternmost switch. "Alright Hanpan, We'll count to three! One... Two... Three... Now!" They both stepped on the switches and at first, nothing happened.

After a few draining seconds, however, a strange contraption formed in the middle of the room. Pinkish ripples of energy that seemed to originate from the ground itself expanded for about five feet before disappearing into thin air and repeating the cycle. Jack scooped Hanpan up once more and the wind mouse rested on his shoulder, as usual.

"What do you think, Hanpan?" The golden haired man questioned to his companion. "Try stepping on it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, Jack." Hanpan replied. Jack stepped forward into the ripples...

~Jack's past encompasses all of Wild ARMs, and actually begins after exploring the Temple of Memories. I am planning to write his entire past out, as I'm playing the character -after- Filgaia's been saved, however, I'm procrastinating it to no end. Really.~

Moa Gault

[justify]"What a weak mind! The weakening of the world is really the weakening of the human soul. Guardijeff! Do you really want to let this one decide Filgaia's destiny?"

In an effort to look for aid, Jack and his companions (Rudy Roughnight and Cecilia Adlehyde) headed for the Guardian Shrine to the north of the village of Milama. Finding the edifice overrun with monsters, the party pushed forward through the chambers until they encountered an ethereal mirror.

Cecilia sensed the magic at work, noticing the object was enchanted by the guardians and, as she approached it, realized what she had to do: walk through it. Rudy and Jack followed behind, however, they had all been separated; put to the test by Filgaia's deities.

As Jack reached the end of his trial, he grasped a sword embedded on the ground, thinking that it might be the ultimate weapon to defeat the demons with - so that he might gain the power to claim revenge in name of his comrades. Instead, the sword burst into flames and he was confronted with images from the past; his past as a knight of Arctica Castle. He was called out by the spiritual images of his former companions, who surrounded him and proceeded to frown upon what he'd done - Jack was the sole survivor of Arctica's invasion by the demon race.

Jack's consciousness vanished shortly after and he found himself standing beside Rudy and Cecilia on a dais with four torches providing light and a pitch black abyss extending around and beyond them. It was in these chambers that they were contacted by the guardians and explained that they were the only hope for Filgaia to survive.

Jack was handed the rune of Filgaia's fire guardian, Moa Gault, and has managed to establish a bond with the deity. When the swordsman taps onto the power of the rune, he can command Moa Gault's power over fire, and even summon the guardian provided Jack can concentrate for long enough.

The Dragon Emperor

Moniker: Myrmidon.
Name: Unknown.
Appearance: 1. 2.
Race: Ryong/Dragon.
Gender: Male.
Apparent Age: 25.
True Age: 2377 human years.
Personality: Loner. Aloof. Calm. Contained. Passionate.
Type of fighter: Aggressive whenever in battle. Does not hold back, however, prefers to play with his prey for a while before finishing them off. Fights for his own goals.
Likes: Solitude. Control. Contact with others once in a blue moon. Fighting, though he does not start them unless provoked.
Dislikes: Annoyances. Lack of control.

Abilities

Myrmidon’s abilities vary greatly due to his capacity to tap into the genes of deceased dragons. As such, this gives the impression that his array of abilities is actually great while it is actually quite narrow.

Myrmidon holds all the possible genes of every dragon who has ever existed within his now-deceased clan plus one of his own; the Infinity gen. Each of these genes holds a particular and unique property of its own, and each property can be further enhanced through combining and fusing with other genes. Myrmidon can combine up to a maximum of three genes and assume different dragon forms depending the combined genes.
Each gen alone possesses a soul of its own: the soul of a previous dragon in existence. As each dragon died, their souls and genes returned to the 'source': Myrmidon. It is unknown how many souls Myrmidon possesses, but they can be traced back to a minimum of eighteen. Based on this number, it can only be inferred that his power rivals that of a god. Dragons are, after all, Gods in their own sense.

Genes that Myrmidon currently possesses

*Flame.
*Frost.
*Thunder.
*Shadow.
*Radiance.
*Force.
*Defender.
*Eldritch.
*Miracle.
*Gross.
*Thorn.
*Reverse.
*Mutant.
*???.
*Trance.
*Failure.
*Fusion.
*Infinity

(PM for descriptions, though I will explain each resulting form if they are used in any RP. As aforementioned, only a maximum of three can be combined at the same time, leaving the rest unusable until reverting back to ‘human’ form.)

Dragon Step: Technically an ability without a name, it is a byproduct of Myrmidon’s heavily enhanced speed. Passively active during his human form, this allows Myrmidon to move rapidly within and outside of the battlefield; his entire body can be seen as flickering whenever he chooses to charge in or retreat.

Pocket Space: Due to his lineage, Myrmidon has been bestowed a small dimension of his own where he can store many objects. He can enter and leave this place at will, and even access it remotely without the need to physically enter the alternate plane. As such, it is possible for him to summon objects stored within whenever needed.

Techniques

Inherited –

Shadowwalk: The user of this technique rapidly moves from the attacking spot, leaving two afterimages behind that split in twain. Darting throughout the battlefield, the user can choose from where to attack their opponent, though the blow will, almost always, result heavily damaging to the enemy. In lower settings of power, the maximum uses of this skill per battle is: 2.

Focus: The user of this technique focuses their power within their physical body, raising the strength of the next physical attack or technique. Can stack multiple times up to a maximum of three in lower tiers of power. Can be interrupted.

Concentrate: The user of this technique focuses their power within their mind and soul, raising the strength of the next magical attack or technique. Can stack multiple times up to a maximum of three in lower tiers of power. Can be interrupted.

Frost Strike: The user of this technique releases a wave of extremely cold air upon attacking, threatening to harm the enemy with its gelid embrace.

Cleave: The user of this technique is capable of distributing the kinetic energy carried within their physical attacks, striking multiple enemies at once.

Tiger Fist: The user of this technique is capable of striking a single enemy multiple times (up to three times) in a simultaneous manner.

Aura Element: Innate element is Ice.

Items

Clothing: Basic, run of the mill ancient clothes. Purple tinge to them. They exude royalty.

The Dragon Tear: A small necklace holding a pure cerulean orb. It prevents poison, paralysis, and other threatening changes to the wearer’s health. It also allows the wearer to discern between people’s intentions, classifying them between bad and good. It cannot look at what exactly the person is going to do.

Weapon: The Dragon Blade.

Passed down generation after generation, and back in possession of the first dragon of his clan – himself. It can cut through most materials and dent nearly every metal. It glows with an iridescent light and is rumored to be indestructible.

Weapon Abilities

Double Slash: Whenever the user of the blade slashes once, a second slash produced out of wind currents and kinetic energy lashes out towards the target, causing cuts that can deal from minor to heavy damage depending on the location.

Weapon Techniques: Refer to Frost Strike and Shadowwalk.

Monster Companion

Name: Won Qu.
Monster Type: Ancient guardian. Resembles a dog.
Monster Age: Roughly two thousand years old.
Monster Element: Ice.

Monster Abilities

Enhanced Endurance: Remaining as a statue for centuries guarding the tomb of an ancient dragon has caused Won Qu’s body to become strengthened. Normal weapons will rebound off of his skin. Needless to say, he’s tough all around, but not invincible.

Frost Roar: His affinity with the ice element allows him to freeze objects at will simply by roaring at them. The process is quite simple. Each roar releases a stream of cold air in a cone that continuously lowers the temperature within its range, freezing objects caught in the cone multiple times. Targets frozen by this attack will still remain alive within its casing, though will continue to be frozen over and over, leading to a perpetual cycle of suffering.

Monster Background: Not a lot to tell here. Having serving Myrmidon’s dragon clan ever since its creation, Won Qu now serves him faithfully.

General Background

The Beginning

A volume of the famous collection "Emperors of the World" was lying on a wooden desk as only a tiny ray of sunlight illuminated its surface. It was the only source of light in this little room. No one had stepped into it in a while, evident when one laid their eyes upon the several layers of dust coating more or less every object in the chambers. The design of the walls, the stone doors and the cedar wood furniture seemed to be of chinese origin. Various depictions of dragons were etched here and there, engraved into the azure rock of the room and into the halls annexed to this smaller area. An iridescent light basked these halls, which seemed to go on and on, in a cerulean glow, growing stronger the closer one stepped into this unknown area of the edifice. There lay enveloped in the same clothes that he had been wearing for twelve centuries, the last member of his dragon clan. It was not quite certain from where he had come or where did he go. Even more mysterious was the way he rested, trapped in a pyramid of slightly transparent blue aura, seemingly asleep.

Long, silk-like tresses of silver hair cascaded down his back, the tips merely touching the buckle of the crimson belt near his waist. Another larger belt with the head of a chinese lion, etched upon a metallic disc and embedded into the clothing, kept his clothes in check. Plated gloves of an unknown metal protected his hands and several discs of that exact ore were etched upon the knuckles. A stone disc wrapped around his wrists, extending outwards in a radius of approximately ten centimeters, and more buckles kept a pair of gauntlets adjusted to his elbows. The reddish boots mimicked the design of his gloves, though seemed slightly more worn out, possessing two stone discs a little before reaching the feet. Though all of this would most likely appear as a normal attire of a chinese warrior emperor, what was awkward about him were the two horns which protruded from the back of his head, extending all the way along the sides until reaching the frontal part of his cranium. A dark mixture of scarlet and purple, these horns signaled his draconic traits.

His eyes snapped open and the "prison" quickly disappeared in a flash of light. His gray irises contained a strange glow within them, a luminescence that could only be described by appealing to nothing more than magic. This was the Prana, the Dragon's Eye or Dragon's Tear. With it, he could see people's true intentions by staring directly into their hearts and souls. Aside from that, it possessed the handy ability of reading auras through the same means. His weapon, the dragon blade, remained tucked away in an alternate dimension only accessible by himself, as he was the first dragon and the last survivor of the dragon clan. It was time for him to resume his search for the nameless Goddess; that cursed creature who had ordered the annihilation of the dragons so long ago.

Argumenting that she was protecting the world from the outstanding power of the Drognan - the name of Myrmidon's race -, she chose to eliminate every single dragon, afraid of the disaster they could bring. Of course, the dragons did not want to fight back since they were afraid of their own power. At this time, Myrmidon defeated a few guardians, managing to not wound them mortally but just enough for him to escape. Upon learning of everything that has happened during the past centuries, however, he was consumed by revenge. The whole "tomb" trembled under his sheer display of power and a hole so big was torn within the surface of the earth that the whole edifice disappeared overnight.

He was able to feel, sense, and even see what was going on in the world at the time of his awakening. The human race was divided and dragons were no longer revered on Earth. The once almighty dragon God, Dalon, was forgotten by humans and demi-humans alike, leaving Myrmidon with a bitter taste in his own soul. The Goddess, however, lived on in different names, which further confirmed his suspicions: She was still alive. With the very power he had been bestowed by the Drognan, he conjured a gap in space and time, and there, his journey began...

The Guardian

Name: Curator.
Alias: Azure Ninja.
Race: Human.
Age: Looks about 23. Chronological age unconfirmed.
Acceptable Tiers: Realistic Melee to Mid Powers.
Height: 6'0''.
Weight: 135lbs.
Hair Color: Azure.
Iris Color: Cerulean.
Usual Attire: Utilizes the one in the picture when in friendly, known areas. Otherwise a leather vest with mythril threads woven into it with a black combat shirt underneath, a pair of common silk pants along a pair of layered leather boots, a hakama upon his waist that covers his feet and holds his blade, and the latter - Suiryuuen - upon his right hip. It is often inferred that the hakama is, in fact, the scarf he usually wears.

Weapons: Suiryuuen, a legendary katana possessing an invisible blade. The length of such is modified by the user, reaching a maximum known length of six meters. It is currently unknown if this number can go any higher. It sports a beautiful scabbard decorated with gold and lapis lazuli, and several motifs of tear drops added by Curator himself. The weapon has a strong link with the water element, which further bolsters the wielder's natural bond with his elemental abilities. As Sohjin Kasake, former master of the swordsman, bestowed Suiryuuen upon Curator, it goes without saying that the sword will only respond to him. Any attempts to steal or handle Suiryuuen will be met by the weapon rebelling and most likely encasing the thief in a stasis field of absolute zero. The sword is constantly absorbing the moisture in the air through the minuscule holes etched upon the metallic scabbard, which Curator can use to launch devastating water and ice attacks.

Abilities

Swordsman Extraordinaire: As Curator has received training from none other than a master swordsman, his skill with the blade has grown exponentially over the years. Once a clumsy teenager that could barely keep a sword straight, he has managed to dominate most - if not all - of the combat aspects and variables that surge within his body and mind whenever a sword is handled. This allows Curator to wield any kind of bladed weapon to near perfection. Naturally, swords that he's used before will be easier to handle in the long run.

Directly complementing this talent are the sword styles taught to him by Sohjin Kasake and Shiki: the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu (Sohjin), the Gatotsu, the Shigure Suigetsu(Shiki), and the Chuuten Banzen Ryuu (Sohjin). Aside from that, he has incorporated many techniques from other styles and adapted them to his own.

The Graceful Azure Dragon: Although most of his knowledge rests in the way of the sword, Curator has also trained himself in regular martial arts. It is nothing out of the ordinary in the human world, though it is widely believed that he could kill anyone in over seven hundred ways only with his hands. It is also said that Curator has over three hundred confirmed kills, though this fact has yet to see any substantial proof.

The Azure Ninja: Curator excels in combat at night due to the dark colors of his attire. He is literally invisible to the human eye amidst the night's embrace, blending in perfectly with his surroundings. Aside from that, he can utilize his knowledge over the water element to reflect light off of his body during the day, being effectively capable of camouflaging himself in plain sight. His water mastery also allows him to dampen sounds produced by his feet and body, ultimately rendering him silent and swift as a shadow - or a ninja.

The Sauntering M... Sea: Curator's bread and butter innate ability - the capacity to create, absorb, manipulate, purify, and/or release water amongst other actions. Not only is his mastery over water limited to the liquid itself. He can also enhance his physical attributes through it, lessening the exertion his muscles would normally suffer, boosting his natural speed and strength, and quickening his natural reflexes. Aside from that, he can utilize the sub-element of ice just as well as water, making him a formidable foe in the battlefield. Once once Curator's wrath is incurred, you may as well be facing the raging sea. This also ties in with Curator's personality - usually calm and serene yet capable of entering a frivolous state of mind, cold and calculating, befitting of an assassin.

The Awakening

In an encounter with Hellion of the Val'gara, Curator exhibited a direct connection with his sword, Suiryuuen. From what a wandering magister has able to observe, the dire situation forced the blade to awaken and, in turn, Curator's spirit to exhibit an exorbitant increase in power. Said power enabled the Guardian to banish Hellion into the vast reaches of the universe from the planet he was looking to conquer.

A wandering magister had once taught Curator about the secrets of aura, the way influence worked and how the hold upon the element that he was so close with could be enhanced. It didn’t have to do so much with raw power, but more with the link and bond between element and person. Through communing with their birth element, elementalists could ascend from being a master to something more. It was something bigger than Hellion and Curator, something that would allow only one of them to transcend the laws of physicality and enter the path of divinity.

The Mist was a powerful adversary, of that the Guardian had no doubt. It was very clear to him that he just wouldn’t be able to overpower it, no matter how hard he tried on his own, and no matter how much power had been pumped into the water. Even when Curator had purposefully drawn the Mist in to meld and merge with the water particles laced with his influence, with the full capability to purge and push aside any attempts of control so to quite literally bait Hellion into a false sense of security… It had all been pointless. Curator had not realized the entire extent of his enemy’s power while blindly following his ideals of justice and protection.

“Are…ing t… gi…at…ily…?â€

Faint images coursed throughout the Guardian’s mind, of his encounters with past fighters and what he’d learned from them. Memories of his old teacher and their countless spars that often ended with the young Curator in a near-death state, further honing his mastery over the water element through recurring to some desperate healing. Those were the days where he’d just rely on Suiryuuen and some basic water techniques to dispatch his foes… He had grown to rely too much on his water elemental skills and not too much on his blade. As his attack failed, the Guardian fell to his knees, barely even managing to hear Hellion over the contempt that squeezed his throat and heart.

The palms of his hands met the ground, as did the handle and blade of Suiryuuen, and the bottle holding the water that Jeanne had given him before she perished at the hands of the gunslinger. The crystal had shattered upon contact with the ground, and the shimmering liquid was spreading along the ceramic tiles’ pattern, beating with a scintillating light as though it was a heart. He couldn’t even feel the pain from the glass buried deep within the flesh of his palm, trickles of crimson liquid running down each piece and falling to the tiles to mix with the water. Hellion was talking him down, but he didn’t care. He couldn’t find a reason to care about his words.

“Are you…to giv…that…ily…!?â€

And yet, he still found the need to ponder upon them. Was he really this weak after all this time? Was he really incapable of fighting on a melee level? Was he only capable of relying on the powers he’d been bestowed at birth? The water around them was dying. The water that he’d worked so hard to gather from underneath the city and to envelop it all. The very water that he’d planned to use to end the gunslinger. It was all evaporating and sinking back into the Earth…

Yet the water from the bottle appeared completely unaffected by this, continuing to spread through the ceramic tiles around Curator’s hand and inching closer and closer to the transparent edge of Suiryuuen. Something was pounding deep inside him, deeper than his heart and deeper than his soul. It was a familiar presence. So familiar that he could address it as though he’d known it for his entire life. But what was it…? Did he know this presence? Did he recall this voice?

It was then that the Guardian’s eyes widened, glancing at Jeanne. But she was dead. She could not be here. A string of words that did not belong to her rolled out of her thin lips, yet the Guardian could only feel defeated. Defeated at the hands of this criminal. A single teardrop rolled down his left cheek once he witnessed Hellion ‘murdering’ her in cold blood, but once her body hit the floor, the sound within his entire body turned unbearable.

“Are you going to give up that easily!?â€

~
Battle BGM - Megaman X5 ~ X vs Zero
~

It was transparent no more, instead glowing before breaking free from Curator’s grasp in order to float right before him. The Guardian could only watch in awe, as this had never occurred before in all his years of traveling, save for when that wandering magister managed to wield it.

Perhaps… He had done something to the blade? No. That could not be. Suiryuuen would never let itself get tampered by a complete stranger.

“Curator… Do you desire the power to defeat evil?â€

The sword spoke with a voice full of authority, befitting of a deity or a god of sorts rather than to the spirit caught inside. Curator was trying his hardest to find out the suitable words, but he could not seem to put his thoughts in order.

“W-what do you…?â€

“I ask you again. Do you desire the power to defeat evil? Do you desire to save this planet and cast your enemy off? I have watched you for a long time, Curator... Aiding you with the Justice that you so pursue and spread throughout the realms. I am Suiryuuen. And soon, you shall be, as well… So I ask you, Guardian… Do you desire the power to defeat evil?â€

The sword was not demanding, but it was presenting Curator with the possibility to defeat Hellion. Suiryuuen… Suiryuuen… Yes… He had been called like that for a while. The memories appeared to be coming back to him little by little, as it had been during the time with that magister that he’d learned to communicate even better with his sword to the point that... It was the only choice. This time, he wouldn’t just fuse with his blade’s spirit.

This time, he would ascend beyond that point and join up with the Guardians before him.

“Yes. Yes, I do, Suiryuuen. Let us become one once again!†Curator replied with zeal in his voice, with the desire to gain more power to protect.

“I accept the pact. Curator, you shall henceforth be known as Suiryuuen, the Tidecaller!â€

It felt as though his body was jerked from the ground, hoisted up by an invisible hand as his chest pointed directly towards the skies. Suiryuuen elevated, grazing the guardian’s abdomen with its shimmering tip, trailing a slow path until it was directly atop his heart… And plunged itself deeply within him only for a powerful light to radiate out from his body. It enveloped him entirely as the sword merged with him, and the once light blue hair grew inch by inch, saturating and making its raw color more intense. It’d turn into a vibrant azure as his clothes shifted along with his appearance.

The crimson scarf about his neck split up into countless crimson threads that wove themselves throughout a deep azure with splotches of silver here and there. It trailed neat lines across the new attire that enveloped his entire body – a knightly looking armor-, with a thick thread of crimson velvet shooting out from the top of the helmet to trail behind him. In another time, it’d have been known as the Set of Artorias, though it appeared to have undergone some serious modifications, especially in its color scheme. It looked far from battered, as well. The entire thing gave Curator – now Suiryuuen – a sharp but sacred appearance.

And then he touched the ground, taking a deep breath as he held out his right hand for a greatsword to materialize upon it. This weapon, too, being borne from the astral sea.

“This is what the magister sealed within the blade, Sir Suiryuuen. He has been performing multiple changes to it—To me. And waited for the moment when you would need me to unlock your full potential.â€

The voice of Suiryuuen, the blade, echoed within the Guardian’s mind. It was as though the armor was speaking to him, but he could sense the link deep within his soul, fused, merged. And he could feel all sorts of newfound powers present upon his body. What better time to test them out than to defeat the devil that’d brought ruin to this peaceful planet? He was in the weakest of situations, too, given that the mist had receded into his own body and that his arms were crossed.

Suiryuuen hoisted his greatsword upon his back and hunched forth with a small grin underneath that helmet that covered his entire visage. It wasn’t speed what was utilized next, however. It was as though he existed in two planes of existence at the same time, shifting in and out in the blink of an eye to slam the flat side of his new greatsword into the brunt of Hellion’s face. Particles of ice appeared to be left behind the swing, though the centrifugal movement that propelled the sword would only keep going to slam the gunslinger’s skull against the ceramic below, causing a rather wide crater to form underneath the two of them due to the force applied beneath it, which was nothing short of a few tons.

“You’ll pay for all the souls you enslaved and destroyed today, Hellion of Val’gara!â€

He reassured him without giving him time to react, for as the Guardian spoke, he was already in midair, shifting from his previous spot upon the ground and reappearing from the other plane that he could access in the midst of a forward spin. The edge of the blade slammed down upon Hellion’s torso, further sinking his body down into the earth and causing the crater to grow larger and wider, to the point that the land shattered and they fell into the depths from where Curator had been drawing water. All of it was drained, yet Hellion would only hit the ground once more, and a third slam of the blade was ensued, this time stabbing directly upon the man’s chest before hoisting him upward and throwing him out of the hellhole.

Suiryuuen’s figure flickered from existence only to intercept the flying gunslinger in midair. The celerity was impressive, and it almost looked like the Guardian was playing with his prey. The greatsword slammed into Hellion time and time again, and after every attack, Suiryuuen would be waiting on the other side to continue bouncing him around. The difference in power was clear, yet the Guardian wasn’t aiming to kill, but to weaken. Weaken Hellion up to a point where he could trap him and send him off of the planet through piercing directly through the man’s heart… Or the spot where he would have a heart before emitting a perpetual field of stasis. It looked like ice, yet it wasn’t. It was a type of crystal that’d numb and completely paralyze the person or creature within, reaching even within the confines of their soul. The stasis field enacted the purification of the water, as well, freeing all those souls that Hellion had enslaved so that they could find redemption in Heaven.

And that was all that the Guardian wanted. Hellion wouldn’t die, however. He’d suffer an even worse fate, for Suiryuuen pulled the blade out from within the crystal as though it was cutting through butter, yet not leaving a single indentation behind. His azure hair shone with a vibrant light, as did the abyssal-like runes covering the extent of the blade before he slammed directly into the middle of it with an ascending slash. Normally, the force behind such a blow would’ve caused the object to shatter into a countless pieces, but the stasis field was constructed in such a way that it’d wear off on its own, withstanding any kind of punishment from within, or from the outside. It shot out of the atmosphere of the planet as quick as a meteorite, and it’d probably end up sinking deeply within a star in the faraway reaches of space.

There was very little that could be done about the people in the planet… But he possessed their souls. And thus, he would link them with the greatsword before sinking the tip deep into the middle of the city. It was as though time reversed itself for the entirety of the settlement, if not the planet itself. Tapping into the essence of each and every soul, the ascended Guardian yanked their bodies from the Limbo each villager was stuck in, bestowing each ‘corpse’ with their respective soul. Even Jeanne had managed to come back from the dead, but the Guardian would not be found in that planet anymore.

Suiryuuen had become a full fledged Guardian, a Tidecaller, an ascended being that qualified as a Deity or a God of sorts. Wielding the power over life, a direct link to his water elemental abilities, he is now forced to search for Hellion whenever he appears back in another planet, if only just to seal him again and restore life to the planet the gunslinger chooses to feed upon.

The Oathsworn Assassin

Name: Stygian.
Alias: The Silent.
Race: Human.
Age: Looks about 25.
Acceptable Tiers: Realistic Melee to Mid Powers.
Height: 5'9''.
Weight: 133lbs.
Hair Color: Raven Black.
Iris Color: Red.
Usual Attire: Prefers dark raiments, as shown in the dossier picture. Usually consists of light leather shoulderpads reinforced with fur, a leather vest with details in gold, black leather pants, and black leather long boots. Leather bracers protect Stygian's wrists and arms all the way up to his elbows, and his visage is generally hidden by a crimson cloth attached to his leather hood. The frontal part of his attire holds two pieces of cloth with special properties and, dangling from his belt, is a multipurpose dagger that serves most of his mundane needs along with his yew bow and handcrafted arrows.

Weapons: Gandiva, a hand made bow crafted by Stygian out of yew wood that holds the same name as Arjuna's bow. Light as a feather, this is the preferred weapon for missions that require him to move and kill swiftly. Best at medium range, Stygian can channel many elemental abilities upon this bow, even imbuing them with the powers of his people's gods and other deities he's made pacts with. It is virtually indestructible, though the string can break, rendering the weapon useless. Its sharp, pointed edges can serve to stab and slash in a pinch, though it's nowhere near as effective as a bladed weapon. This bow emphasizes raw speed over power, enhancing the velocity of projectiles shot by it through constant razor-sharp wind currents surrounding the fired arrow.

Dragonslayer Greatbow: Found in the ruins of an old city whose people specialized in light magic, specifically in a small colosseum-like zone, this greatbow has the capability to shoot arrows far bigger than the standard missiles. Its long range makes it excellent for sniping, and the size of the projectiles leaves little room for missing. It requires a great deal of strength and focus due to the way it's crafted. Stygian will not always be able to perform other physical actions when handling this bow. It can be used as a blunt weapon if the enemy being targeted manages to get in close quarters combat with Stygian.

Garm: A crass crossbow, relic of an old, lost age, that fires three bolts with a single shot and does not require reloading. The bolts are placed in the groove through dimensional magic, pulled from a space holding seemingly infinite numbers of them. These bolts can then be imbued with elemental capabilities by Stygian, or used to execute various techniques. The weapon itself appears to be virtually indestructible, as Stygian has tested its resilience, though the string can - and will - break if handled improperly.

The Retaliator: The ornate dagger that Stygian carries upon his right hip is a gift from his village's elders, obtained by them in an inspection towards the furthest corners of the planet. As he'd managed to ascend through the assassin ranks, a mission of top priority was bestowed upon him - find new lands for his people. The empire that held most of the island they lived in was slowly making advances upon Stygian's people's regions, taking the land from underneath their feet little by little. The dagger gives the wielder the power to command the wind element, which further aids Stygian's archery.

Abilities

Archer Extraordinaire: From a very small age, Stygian had shown prowess with the bow. His people, in tune with nature, had learned how to adapt perfectly to the vast jungles and the open plains around them, and it was mostly through hunting and foraging that they made a living. As such, Stygian practiced his archery every time he could while out in the fields, hunting for food to bring back to his village. It wasn't long before the elders noticed his ability with the bow and offered him training from the best assassins in tow, successfully initiating the young boy as an apprentice in the village's 'guild'. Stygian could nail a flea perching upon a dog's hair without harming the latter given a proper bow and arrow.

Duelist: Even though Stygian's proficiency rests in the bow, possessing utmost accuracy and uncanny precision from a long range distance, he has also been trained in the arts of the sword. As actual swords are too bulky for his preference, Stygian carries The Retaliator for close quarters combat. Experienced in the arts of assassination, he can make short work of anyone foolish enough to close distances with him, choosing speed over power.

The Silent: Be it from far away or close up, Stygian never leaves any trace of his presence other than the momentary sound of an arrow coursing through the air. By the time the victim hears it, it's usually too late. Stygian has earned this title through his multiple successful assassinations and the inability for any person to track him and his whereabouts. "They'll never know what hit'em." is one of his favorite lines before setting out on a mission.

Quetzalcoatl's Knowledge: Nobody knows how the War Serpent came into contact with Stygian. Some infer that his skill in the battlefield and the many victims he left behind enacted some sort of connection between the deity and himself. It understood his village's struggle and offered to aid Stygian with military expansion, and bestowed him several abilities which mainly revolve around the four primordial elements and various sub-elements. Stygian has adapted these abilities to warfare and developed skills of his own which change depending on the weapon he's using at the time:

» Highly Responsive To Prayers: The first and foremost skill gifted to Stygian. The Silent has the ability to lock onto his target's energy or aura signature - to lock on to their lifeforce - before, while, and after firing an arrow. The missile will pursue the target in question until it either collides with it or with another object. The homing ability of a single arrow decreases exponentially as the speed carried by it in its flight increases. This is normally a passive ability.
"Bet they won't expect this."

~When Gandiva is equipped...~

» Punishing Fire: Although not directly a skill bestowed upon him, it is a technique developed by Stygian dealing with the knowledge of the fire element the War Serpent gave him. The tip of the arrow or bolt is coated in sacred fire, which eventually spreads to the entire projectile. Upon collision, a muffled explosion occurs and vibrant white flames engulf the target.
"It is especially effective against undead creatures."

» Flight On Tears: Yet another skill developed by Stygian utilizing the knowledge Quetzalcoatl has given him on the water and lightning element. Firing a hail of arrows upon a designated area, Stygian will first cloud the target's view by darkening their surroundings, completely blocking out the sunlight with dark clouds. As water droplets begin to fall, lightning bolts strike the flying projectiles, which then see a further increase in their overall speed and piercing power. Upon touching the ground or the target, the electricity is released into network of lightning around a fixed area.
"Ideal for dealing with large groups."

» Plain Asia: This skill deals with the earth element. Stygian can fire several arrows into the earth, which then travel underground and trail wide arcs before ascending and catching an enemy by surprise, effectively shooting upward from the land along with several pieces of debris and dust.
"You thought the ground was safe? Think again."

» Crystallize Silver: Exactly what it says on the tin... For the most part. Technically part of the water element techniques, Stygian can fire a large volley that, upon impacting with a target or several, freezes a small area around the impacted spot. The effects are cumulative. If many arrows hit the same target, they'll eventually find themselves trapped in an icy tomb.
"Cold? I'll show you cold."

» Fractal Night: Be it during the night or day, Stygian can trick enemies with illusions projected upon the sky. That rainbow seems a little too close, the aurora borealis isn't supposed to be on the sky, is it? That bird is coming towards us! Through cleverly using mundane objects as camouflage for his arrows, Stygian can catch even the most avid of preys by surprise.
"... Well, I gotta have fun sometimes."

~When using Dragonslayer Greatbow...~

» Burning Big Bridge: The great arrow fired out of the oversized bow is supercharged with fire elemental energy. As the projectile flies through the air, an imaginary 'line' of its trajectory is left behind. This 'line' is immolated as though it were gunpowder, releasing an enormous burst of heat around it. The arrow executes a silent explosion upon impact.
"Linear. Quick. Flashy. Silent. For quick executions from afar."

» Liquid Sky: Stygian channels the water elemental abilities Quetzalcoatl bestowed upon him into a great arrow which, when fired, releases a large, wide torrent mid-flight. If fired towards the skies, it'll create a huge liquid blob with the sole aim of flattening everything underneath it upon landing.
"The usefulness of water attacks depends mostly on the environment. Cannot use this lightly."

» Sacred Power Of Raging Winds: Fairly self explanatory. The great arrow is imbued with holy light and powerful wind currents that further enhance its speed. Once it's fired, the wind currents are gradually left behind in the form of a linear tornado which continues to boost the projectile's speed through centrifugal force. After a short delay, the currents left behind will shoot outward in the form of sickles, attempting to slice through anything or anyone in the vicinity.
"Bit noisy. Easily shreds through groups. Excellent on roads, clearings, and forests."

» Light My Way: Stygian imbues three great arrows with lightning elemental energies before shooting them outward in a fan-like fashion. The lightning bolts create a flat net between the arrows which proceeds to slice and electrocute anything or anyone that comes in contact with it. Upon impact, the great arrows release the stored lightning in a mini-supernova-like effect, obviously many times less powerful than the real thing.
"Extremely flashy. Might save it for a party."

» Thousand Chain: Stygian fires an arrow that bursts into a multitude of metal chains mid-flight. These chains have a pointed tip that will attempt to automatically pierce through the nearest object or enemy and firmly lodge themselves into flesh, bone, or any material that can be penetrated by them. These chains remain connected through thin metal wires so that a web-like pattern is created once all the tips are hooked. The metal is then blasted by an extremely powerful electrical discharge which carries with it an absolute zero effect. It can very well said that this attack contains the numbing properties of an electric attack without the inherent heat commonly associated with it. The entire point of this technique is to disable and immobilize in a possibly perpetual manner, considering the targets are continuously frozen after the initial discharge.
"If killing them just won't do the trick... Seal'em up for a lifetime."

~When Garm is equipped...~

» Back Fire: As Garm is a weapon for close to mid range, the projectiles that are fired by it are several times quicker than the arrows Gandiva or the Dragonslayer Greatbow can use. This technique utilizes the borders of width, length, and height for the projectiles to travel directly behind an enemy without fail. You could say each bolt forcibly undergoes a change in the variables of their width, length, and height to the point of completely disappearing from the line of sight of an alert enemy, assuming they were glancing directly towards Garm's wielder at the time. Each projectile is warped and the distance between them and the enemy is taken into account at the time of the disappearance. It is at that time that the warped bolts reappear behind the target. If a projectile disappears ten meters in front of an enemy, that very bolt will surge ten meters behind the opponent.

The Tinkermage

Name: Varell Telera.
Age: 24.
Race: Human.
Hair Color: Dark brown.
Eye Color: Hazel.
Height: 5’9’’.
Weight: 179lbs.
Occupation: Tinkermage.

Personality: An ambitious soul with a (usually) selfless lookout on most situations he encounters, Varell wields an intellect that cuts deeper into the minds of his enemies than any other weapon. Usually choosing to support the people he works with through strategical thinking and clever manipulation of the battlefield, the insight he’s gained through years of campaigning make him a force to be reckoned with. Although he hasn’t seen much close quarters combat, Varell isn’t one to shy away from close and personal encounters, as his swordsmanship has been practiced enough that only warriors who hold a considerable grade of experience in the art could pose a danger to him. Originally dealing with other people with a cold and uncaring demeanor, the apathetic Varell has warmed up to outsiders after a series of events that shook his entire perception of the world around him. Varell believes he’s one of the best Tinkermages around and will do anything and everything to further his study within the art as well as to improve already existent creations.

Appearance: At first glance, Varell would probably be regarded as a mere engineer or builder. His usual attire consists of a simple gray shirt akin to a tunic and light brown leather pants, complete with a pair of leather work boots. The two belts that keep his pants and tunic in check are hold three storage compartments akin to pouches, all leather, where some of his Tinkermage equipment rests. He’s also usually seen carrying a backpack, also made out of leather with traces of cotton for comfort and weight reduction, which holds most of his travel gear and other pieces of equipment. Attached to his left forearm is a ‘wristflinger’, an elaborate device that is capable of shooting lethal razordisks. The inner workings of this piece of equipment have not yet been disclosed, and just like any and all Tinkermage secrets, probably never will be.

Skills:
* Advanced battle strategizing.
* Advanced Marksmanship – Razorflinger/Archery.
* Architecture.
* Average swordsman.
* Basic cooking.

* Crafting – Minor Alchemy.
* Crafting – Expert on Defensive Structures.
* Crafting – Expert Tinkermage Knowledge.
* Crafting – Expert Trap Making.
* Crafting – Tool Use (Lockpicks, Trap Disarming, Trap Recognition, etc).
* Horseback riding.
* Scouting.
* Standard Hand Training.

Abilities:
– Engie? No! Tinkermage! –
Varell is a mechanical master, capable of utilizing his skills to make powerful weapons and to construct turrets and drones to attack or outright obliterate his enemies. Their inherent bond with mana makes it possible for them to create constructs in no time at all, essentially infusing the base materials required to build, say, a turret or a ballista, and putting them together without needing to pull out their tools and work for hours on each structure. That said, Tinkermages are naturally crafty but their constructs could be dismantled quite easily by people with knowledge on engineering and similar practices. (Ongoing with the character theme, I’ve decided to divide his skills in three different ‘trees’ so to speak, that will naturally evolve as he grows within Althanas).

Tinkermage to Arms
Essentially will evolve into the skill tree that encompasses all the knowledge a Tinkermage could have within the battlefield regarding his weapons, both melee and ranged. For now, Varell can only utilize a single one ability under this tree.

Charged Shot – Perhaps one of the most basic abilities to every Tinkermage is being capable of manipulating the mana or simply the raw energy both within their bodies and in the environment around them to empower constructs and creations. This ability revolves around using some of that energy and instill it into a razordisk which is then fired from the ‘wristflinger’. The result is a slicing oval of orange energy that generally dissipates on contact, releasing the power contained within the razordisk in the form of multiple slashing wounds across any target it encounters. Sometimes, it might even cut right through stone walls or objects, and in some rare case scenarios, through steel.

Blueprints and Plans
This skill tree will eventually contain all the constructs available to a Tinkermage. Varell is only capable of building the weakest constructs for the time being for reasons that will be linked to his backstory.

Invoke the Machine – Not quite as ominous as its name, this ability allows Varell to build up to two turrets whenever he desires. Each turret consumes a considerable amount of mana and/or raw energy from his body that he will either have to replenish or pull from elsewhere. However, once constructed, the turrets are self-sustaining. Varell can choose between the conventional and consistent Boltflinger, a small turret capable of rapidly firing bolts as though it were a crossbow, occasionally spraying a rain of razors on an area if the magical power contained within builds up enough… Or the more lethal Razorflinger, which is a larger, slower, and deadlier version of the Boltflinger. Instead of firing bolts, the Razorflinger is capable of shooting razordisks carrying large amounts of kinetic energy within. Unlike the Boltflinger, however, they don’t have the capability to use up any built up magical power. Once Varell chooses one type, he cannot build the other until disarmed. (e.g. if he builds a Boltflinger, he won’t be able to build a Razorflinger as long as the former is still existent and vice-versa.)

Reinforcement

One of the most coveted abilities and (maybe) the main reason why tinkermages are such a valuable rarity in Lynaeus, Reinforcement allows the tinkermage to channel their mana through a variety of objects to, naturally, reinforce them. A tinkermage who particularly focuses on this branch of ‘magic’ is capable of even transforming common materials into rarer, stronger ones once their mastery of Reinforcement is high enough.
Basic Reinforcement – This allows the caster to pour a small amount of mana or energy into wood. The affected material becomes far stronger and more resilient for a brief period of time – if the tinkermage chooses to pour their energy into the wood from afar - or for as long as the caster maintains contact with it, enough to mimic the defensive and/or offensive properties of iron or even steel.

Equipment:
- Standard issue steel dagger.
- Common tinkermage tunic –Silk & (to a minor degree) leather.
- Leather work gloves.
- Leather belts.
- Several leather pouches & leather backpack containing tinkermage equipment.
- Basic first aid kit.

General Background

Born and raised in the sea power of Dharam, Varell’s interest in the tinkermage arts was spurred at a very young age. Varell’s father, an influential merchant by the name of Johann, often took the young Telera with him whenever ships docked at the town’s port. It allowed his son to learn more about the world through seeing and sometimes conversing with the people arriving to Dharam. Varell had only read about tinkermages in the books of Johann’s library. He knew that they mostly had workshops of their own and that every single nuance within their art was closely guarded. Their skill demanded secrecy, though they were often in charge of the defense of important areas or certain cities.

One day, one of the tinkermages Varell had read about arrived to the town and met up with Johann. He was a Hand of Avadon, the mighty fortress located in the middle of Lynaeus and where the strongest warriors and assassins gather to bring stability to the world. Rumor had it that rogue pirates of Svorgald, a nation near Dharam, were planning an assault on Varell’s town. For a generous fee from the town’s mayor, the tinkermage set to work and coordinated an entire plan of defense with the troops provided to him. Bolt and razorflingers were constructed along the docks and special turrets that could breathe and launch fire were built on important and specific positions. The final touch were several magical pylons that could restore and bolster nearby warriors’ physical and mental abilities, which were placed in spots of easy access to the archers and blademasters who would fend off any pirate that could make it to the shore.

Although Varell had been told to stay inside the house throughout the entire battle, the moment the onslaught began, the young Telera gazed upon it all from the safety of a nearby tower. With the soldiers distracted by the pirates, it was extremely easy for him to sneak in and look at the extent of the tinkermage’s skill. There were very little casualties from the Dharamites’ side, and every single pirate had been wiped out or apprehended and sent to the dungeons of Avadon. Consequently, Varell was punished for sneaking out of the house, but the Hand noticed the young one’s interest.

It wasn’t until Varell’s seventeenth birthday that the gaze of Avadon was drawn to him and the Hand returned to the town. He was here to pick Varell up through Avadon’s right of conscription, as they were in dire need of able warriors. Johann did not object, as he could see his son’s eagerness to put what he had learned thus far to use. Varell soon discovered that the professions of blademaster, sorcerer, or shaman weren’t adequate to him, as his skill with the blade and bow were subpar and his magical knowledge was nowhere near the expertise of a sorcerer. Throw on top of everything that he wasn’t exactly attuned to nature, and the only path left to him was the one he had chosen to pursue from the start – the path of the tinkermage. Under the wing of the Hand who had aided his town, Varell soon excelled in the tinkermage arts, acing most basic courses with little effort. Of course, he was also trained as a Hand of Avadon and made into a fine warrior capable of solving petty disputes between clansmen as well as participating in battle.

Over the years, Varell was dispatched to every corner of Lynaeus, where his powers as a tinkermage only grew exponentially to the difficulty of his tasks. However, his rising power gained him many enemies that ultimately managed to ambush him in the middle of a mission. Banding together against Varell, the bloody battle ended with sixteen warriors dead, thirty two heavily wounded, and four escapees. The Telera lay beside an energizing pylon that was in the process of healing the countless wounds he’d suffered. With several turrets around to protect him, it was unusual for a hooded man dressed like a ninja of sorts to walk right past them and look down at Varell. He was grinning, a gesture that was barely visible behind the black cloth that covered most of his face, as a pair of black eyes analyzed the tinkermage’s condition.

After a string of words spoken by the ninja, his consciousness finally left him, and it wasn’t long before he awoke in the middle of a completely different area with pristine clothes and a new assortment of equipment. Everything he had gained in Lynaeus had been taken away from him… Even the knowledge and the power that he had managed to amass as one of the prodigies in the tinkermage arts. He could only remember basic things, lagoons in his memory here and there. Despite all this, he recalled the shadowy man’s words perfectly…

“You aren’t needed in Lynaeus for the conflict that is about to take place. Avadon will fall but it’s a shame that you won’t be there to see it. Perhaps I’ll see you again… If you manage to find a way back.â€

Lost and slightly dizzy but completely rested up, Varell wasn’t about to sit still and wait for death to claim him. As far as the Telera was concerned, there was an enormous conflict about to take place back on Lynaeus. The destiny of Avadon hung on a thread much like his life. A stranger in a strange land, Varell set out with only one goal in mind – gather enough power and influence in this land and devise a method to get back home.
