78I say underlings, mostly because I'm not entirely clear on who they are, mainly part-timers and family members that they keep close.
79Right now we are focused on building up our numbers in the RMF, that's our core membership, and it's really the only branch with any sort of firm structure/chain of command.
80But RMF members do a lot of different stuff, we are mercs after all, so pretty much any job that needs doing.
81I'm looking to develop the branch even further, adding specializations, and other features as we bring in more command personnel and the members to work with them.

417I can't quite figure out why it is doing that, but these phpbb boards can be sensitive sometimes and this poor forum has been trashed and rebuilt several times now so I may have to make some drastic changes to purge the older permissions from the system. Until then try this work around.

428Just a heads up to everyone, I've spoken to Van recently and he's asked that we hold off on the GNS campaign until the start of January while he finishes some things up. Also I don't think he was totally onboard with the Van'ta Claus theme song, but was still interested in doing something for the holidays. My issue there is that I'm not sure it would be the best move to start our big GNS campaign with a bunch of a holiday-oriented posts when most of the people out there are not going to even know who we are or why we are suddenly so chatty.
429The theory behind this grand scheme is to gradually build up public awarness.
430But holiday-oriented stuff is a bit bold for that right out of the gate.
431My original plan was to start releasing material in the first week of December and then by the end of the month we'd have enough of a foot print where we wouldn't look too weird planting a holiday flag.
432As far as I'm concerned this is still something that is open for discussion, but likely we are going to use the rest of Nov and all of Dec to polish our work and then go at it with normal stories, bypassing the opportunity for a holiday themed post.
433Right now I've posted two of the drafts I worked on early on and I've got a few more I'll get up too. These are obviously not final versions, just my initial ideas. It is absolutely not required, but if anyone else would like to write material or knows someone who would, I'd love the help. You dont' need to confer with me or anyone else if you dont' want to, just post a story or idea up in the Think Tank. Even if it is not fully fleshed out yet, it is fine.
434That said, definitely use the two drafts I have going as an example to go on, we want low key RP stories that focus on things related to TR.
435You can use yourselves as characters or invent entirely new personas, you don't have to mention names of real individuals at all if you don't want to.
436The stories do not have to be real or have any basis in Darkness, just so long as they fit within the rules. So no magically summoning a fleet of Death Stars to face off against the Empire right? Speaking of which, it'd also be good to avoid battle-type stories, try to focus on non-violent scenarios or at least scenarios that don't require violence/prepared violence against other real factions/alliances.

479These are valid concerns, in the past GNS writings have been met with heavy criticism from the community and often the writers are poorly treated for their efforts.
480However, these posts are different from the usual fair, we are shooting for subjects that cannot be easily criticized for their context.
481I do expect some criticism, but I believe the spirit of our intentions and the nature of the topics themselves will be greatly appreciated by the community at large because we are attempting to introduce a little culture into what is normally a heavily politicized field.
482Most of the time, the GNS is used to brag about the accomplishments of individuals or factions, or it is used to report on what other factions are doing about certain high profile events.
483I believe this is an extremely poor use of the tool itself.
484Our goal here is to use misdirection and illusion to create mental images of characters and events that do not really exist, but which carry real messages of truth. We want to subtly inject certain ideas into the minds of our readers and lay the ground work for more aggressive stratagems.
485Ideally, our readers will find our submissions interesting and entertaining, or at least consider them to be an oddity. But it is really just about getting their attention at this stage and making them look where we want them to look.
486Ultimately it is not even about most of the veteran leaders, we are in fact targeting the new players.
487And not many people are going to see that coming, not with the way we are handling the implementation.
488Ideally we want most of our posts at this point to very subtly touch on subject matter that is highly appealing to new players. We also want to get our name out there and associate it with good things, slowly building up a more positive reputation that will set us apart from other factions.

I have close to two decades of experience dealing with newbie combiners and winning them over, but I'm far from perfect and everyone is going to have their own perspective which will target different angles of the same problem.
490Also, Jen asked me about this yesterday, but at the moment I am not planning on attributing any of the writings to specific individuals, obviously whoever posts them is going to have their name attached, but I have a strategy to counter that issue and make it appear that these writings do not have a common source.
491That said, if anyone wants their name attached really badly, I have some ideas in mind for that too that should not compromise the strategy.

1634I've started another building phase on Ard-3 Van, sheet has been updated to reflect that, I'm focusing on getting the Council Flat city PGs and their large buildings done first, but doing the 50 Flat cities when I can since those are only 2-3 buildings each.

2059I've updated the sheet a little, this time I've included a new color code to mark cities that need a little recycling. For the sake of simplicity I'm only going to use this on cities that are otherwise already finished with Phase 2, excepting the recycling issue and resulting missing building. So far this is only related to certain cities that had the original planetary Shield Generators in them, the new city plans call for the Shield Generators to be moved to a different location in those cities and a Hangar placed at the old location. Until those SGs are recycled, we can't build the Hangar.

2392For the description the only thing I can really pick at right now is the mention of Ard-5 as being the most populated. Those numbers are going to be changing, so it might be weird to say it's the most populated, but later it is not. I don't have much to say beyond that, Ard-5 does not have any notable features, it is essentially a mining/production colony right now, though in the near future it will be major income and population hub for us.

2399I think, though I could be wrong, that Holowan originally had their headquarters in the Cej system on the only planet there, but I'm not certain. Since then they've set up operations on Danuta in Colavas under the Cloud City banner, I'm not sure where the newest incarnation of Holowan has it's HQ, but it is probably Danuta.
2400That said, I'm not sure you can really say anything wrong there, these are mostly fictional planets created by the game system at some point.
2401They have no official ties to species, groups, or anything else.
2402You could pretty much create your own little narrative about it if you wanted as long as it did not conflict with established lore or anything on the rules page.

2408Yeah, the only thing I can say is that the system is extremely rich in raw materials, Ardroxia forms the backbone of our mining operations which fuel our massive production infrastructure.

2438One of the biggest issues we have right now though is the lava that exists on Ard and Ard-2.

2441Most planets getting grabbed up by the larger factions, especially the NR and GE. So other factions have to take what they can get, often expending enormous cash reserves to get any land at all.

2446That would be nice, and of course we've tried to scout for new systems, but it's an activity that can be very draining on personnel. Often you don't find anything at all, and the worst part is that even if you check a system, the day you leave the admins could plop a new hidden system at that location.
2447Some factions tend to sweep their own territory on a yearly or even 6 month basis just to be safe.
2448But no one knows how many hidden systems exist at any one time or where they are.
2449It's not a good system.
2450Again though, we are pretty lucky, we have close to 30 planets/moons/asteroids under our control and most can be utilized fully.
2451At the moment it's more than enough to suit our needs.
2452Not that we are not always on the look out for new opportunities.

2480Right now it would be a problem for us to do that on a set date every month, it puts too much stress on me to to keep up with it like that. In the past we've done exactly that, but often from month to month there was not always enough new stuff going on to distinguish one month from the previous month, which made it pretty pointless if you are just repeating the same information. Typically I do try to relay what's going on in the faction as it relates to the Military, granted its not always on a regular basis and probably is something I should do more when possible.
2481As far as the other branches go, there is not much to report, at least not that they can report since almost everything they do is classified at the highest levels, including what you've been doing Jen.
2482There are a number of things that just can't be talked about publicly until the timing is right. For example we wouldn't want to announce that we were working on a treaty with Faction X ahead of time, just to have talks fall through at the last minute, or for negotiations to take longer than expected.
2483It's definitely something we are working on overall, but I don't see it becoming a set thing every month, I just can't keep up with it with everything else I do and I don't want to try it, only to leave people hanging when I can't keep the date for whatever reason.
2484That said, if there's anything anyone is curious about specifically, or if they want to learn more in general, they are always welcome to talk to me or one of the other officers and we'll be happy to talk to them about it.

2537@everyone Okay I'm going to do this in here because most of our active Discord members are in this room normally anyways, those that are not are either on leave, or likely are already aware of what is happening. In fact this is mostly for the benefit of Cho, Riley, Rydel, and Jen anyways as they may not be clued in on the big picture. The other day, Jen asked me about doing some sort of monthly address for the faction, and that's just not something I'm prepared to commit to right now, not because I don't want to tell you guys what is going on, but more so because its not something that I'll always be able to keep up with on a regular basis, I've simply got too much on my plate. There are other issues too, but that is the big one. As a compromise I'm going to try and take a little time every now and then to help everyone get up to speed on some key points. This time I'm just doing it over Discord, but next time I may use the forum instead, we'll see how it goes.
2538Firstly, as most of you know, we recently reorganized our faction into a more streamlined system of government. The main reason for this was that a number of our High Command members and top advisors had chosen to retire or needed an LOA to deal with personal issues. This meant there was no longer a need for a bloated High Command structure. Instead we now have 2 lines in the chain of command. Sami Freemason is our 2nd in Command and now also our Minister of State, you'll see her buzzing around, mostly handling our diplomatic ties with the Galactic Alliance and a few other things. The other line is under me, as Minister of War, I primarily run the Department of Military Operations and anything associated with the military, but as 3rd in command I also hop around doing other management tasks for the faction.
2539We are still a stratocracy, Vandron is our ultimate leader as usual and that part of the system pretty much works the way it always has.
2540I'm not going to go into specifics, but we altered a few other things to fit in with our new system including the ranking system, the addition of the Loyalty Rewards/Merits, etc.
2541We've also been working on a few other goodies that will hopefully come to light later when they are ready.

2545Let me touch on the situation with the Galactic Alliance real quick, because I'm not sure that's been properly explained.

2547Essentially, for some time, the Krath Dynasty or whatever they call themselves has held a somewhat justified grudge against the New Republic over their past treatment at the hands of a former NR leader. They got a bit of a bad rap in that past situation, but they also lost control of their faction and had all kinds of chaos going on, it was a rough time for them. Unfortunately, Krath's current leadership has chosen to continue holding that grudge against the NR's current leaders as well as the Galactic Alliance leadership even though very few if any of the members who took action against them in the past are still around in their positions. The Duchy of Tolanda, mostly egged on by their second in command, chose this recent argument over a new trade ban agreement to pick a fight. The likely reason for this is because this person lost the election for Secretary General (leader/mentor of the GA) and held a grudge against the leader. Beyond that it gets confusing. Regardless, in the end a lot of factions were threatening to leave because Krath and DoT kept holding up discussions and key votes for no good reason and when the NR finally made a move, they both immediately dropped out. Suggesting their goal all along was the destruction of the GA or at least to cause turmoil. The good news is that the remaining members including the NR are talking things out and figuring out how to make things better, we'll have to wait for further updates, and it might be awhile because the GA process is slow.
2548Rest assured we are still on excellent terms with all the remaining members, as well as the NR and will continue to be regardless of what happens with the GA.
2549Next, the Military situation. I won't go into exact numbers for security reasons, but we are strong, very, very strong compared to other small and medium sized factions. We probably won't ever be able to compete with groups like the GE or NR for pure combat strength, but as a former Imperial Navy CO and Grand Admiral, I can tell you we are in a very good position to resist them. This is largely due to our strong production infrastructure and connections with the NR which has allowed us to mass produce large numbers of high quality ships, vehicles, and equipment.
2550We will continue to expand these assets too.
2551The last thing I want to cover right now is our current economic situation. As a faction we are very well off, we have a lot of income coming in, but most of it is from donations and asset sales. For the past year or so we've been working on developing new methods of generating income, one of which is to develop our planets to increase the amount of cash they produce through taxes and income generating facilities.

2555Last year, we built our first fully dedicated FI planet, the first of 3 large 19x19/20x20 planets we will eventually build.
2556This year and going into 2019, we'll be working on improving our small planets. A long time ago, a lot of factories were put down on our worlds to increase production output, this helped us at the time, but now it is more of a liability because as you can imagine, planets that have lots and lots of factories generate various negative effects. This includes increasing the cost of producing and mining on those worlds, as well as making it nearly impossible for income generating facilities to generate anything but debt.
2557Right now we are working on the Ardroxia system, removing all the factories that are not currently producing, after which we will be building new income generating facilities and even a few RP cities for flavor.
2558A few cities have important datacards we've purchased or been gifted in the past, and we will need to produce those entities first before those cities can be cleaned out as well.
2559We also have 3 cities currently producing B-Wings, X-Wings, and A-Wings, the first of which will take quite a long time to finish. So we are looking at a project that is going to take a fair amount of time, but at the end we are expecting excellent results that should help make our financial situation more stable.
2560To give you a reference, a lot of factions that develop FI worlds, tend to shoot for a billion or two in revenue, we aren't quite there yet, but it is more or less what we are shooting for.
2561Now just to belay any concerns, we have zero financial issues currently, even if we ran out of hard cash for some reason, we have assets worth trillions and trillions to back us up. Any of you familiar with basic economic concepts should understand my point here.
2562This new effort is simply to further improve our situation and also to reduce the costs of mining and production on our key worlds.

2683We picked up Chopani and Camden during the Gree merger, I'm not sure of the details exactly. At the time Tomas traded all of his Gree territory for other territory held by Black Sun. So some of that may be from the trade, also I think Van bought Camden outright.

2906When I say restricted tech, I mean things like MC Cruisers, NR fighters, X-45's, etc. Also difficult to get certain rare items like Stormtrooper Armor, but we are looking into it.

2908MTC's are an issue for multiple reasons, one we can't really buy finished products, two they take a long time to build, three Krath is pissed at us right now.
