35 "body": "<p>Israel announced it will grant permits to Christian Palestinians from Gaza Strip to visit Jerusalem and the West Bank during Christmas, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories said Sunday.</p><p>This statement came ten days after a COGAT spokeswoman told <i>Reuters </i>that <a href=\"https://www.i24news.tv/en/news/israel/society/1576230957-gazan-christians-barred-from-visiting-bethlehem-and-jerusalem-on-christmas\" title=\"https://www.i24news.tv/en/news/israel/society/1576230957-gazan-christians-barred-from-visiting-bethlehem-and-jerusalem-on-christmas\">Christians in the Gaza Strip were barred from visiting holy cities such as Bethlehem and Jerusalem this Christmas season.</a></p><p>COGAT’s initial <i>Reuters </i>statement faced immediate backlash by Christian Palestinian leaders as well as Gisha, an Israeli human rights group that monitors the people coming in and out of Gaza.</p><p>“Other people around the world are allowed to travel to Bethlehem. We think Gaza’s Christians should have that right, too,” Wadie Abu Nassar, an adviser to local church leaders, told <i>Reuters </i>at the time.</p><p>There are around 1,000 Christians living in Gaza, mostly Greek Orthodox, among a population of 2 million people. </p><p>Following the backfire, COGAT posted on its website last Sunday that it would make a maximum of 500 permits available to Christian Palestinians from Gaza to travel to Jerusalem and the West Bank “in accordance with security checks.” </p><p>However, the posts were removed a few hours later after its spokeswoman said they were mistakenly uploaded.</p><p>This Sunday COGAT decided that it would give permits to Christian Palestinians from Gaza to visit Jerusalem and the West Bank, “Entry permits for Jerusalem and for the Judea and Samaria area will be issued in accordance with security assessments and without regard to age,” the Defense Ministry body said in a statement.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>",

1132 "body": "<p>Afghanistan's President Ashraf Ghani was on track to win a second term Sunday, after election officials announced he had scored a majority in the presidential polls.</p><p>But despite Ghani's apparent clean win, the fallout from the bitterly contested September 28 election looked set to continue, with top rival Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah saying he would contest the result.</p><p>According to the Independent Election Commission, Ghani won 50.64 percent of the vote in the September 28 poll, easily besting Abdullah, who scored 39.52 percent.</p><p>Candidates now have the right to file any complaints they may have before final results are announced, probably within a few weeks.</p><p>As soon as the result was announced, Abdullah's office said in a statement he would contest it.</p><p>\"We would like to make it clear once again to our people, supporters, election commission and our international allies that our team will not accept the result of this fraudulent vote unless our legitimate demands are addressed,\" the statement read.</p><p>Preliminary results were originally due October 19 but were repeatedly delayed amid technical issues and allegations of fraud from various candidates, particularly Abdullah.</p><p>\"We, with honesty, loyalty, responsibility and faithfulness completed our duty,\" IEC chairwoman Hawa Alam Nuristani said. \"We respected every single vote because we wanted democracy to endure.\"</p><p>The protracted limbo between the vote and the preliminary result heaped additional uncertainty on Afghans who already are anxiously awaiting the outcome of talks between the US and the Taliban.</p>",

1191 "body": "<p>Amnesty International is institutionally biased against Israel, spreads rhetoric of hate against the Jewish state and aligns its anti-Israel campaigns with those of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.</p><p>That is what British researcher David Collier has found in a <a href=\"http://david-collier.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/191219_amnesty_final.pdf\" title=\"http://david-collier.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/191219_amnesty_final.pdf\" class=\"link\">thorough report of over 200 pages</a> that was commissioned by Jewish Human Rights Watch organization and published on Sunday.</p><p>In a message posted online introducing the project, Collier said that the non-governmental organization, founded in the UK in 1961 in order to protect human rights world-wide, has “clear political and discriminatory influences.”</p><p>Collier writes that its subjects are chosen not for their actions but “rather for their identity.”</p><p>According to the report, the largest NGO in the world comprising of seven million members has Palestinian activists in its ranks who are closely in contact with the Palestinian Authority and publicly support terrorist organizations.</p><p>For instance, a deputy director for MENA at Amnesty, whose tole is to focus on human rights abuses throughout the Middle East, is a Palestinian activist from Ramallah who used to have a terrorist as his Facebook profile picture, and “all he does is post anti-Israel rhetoric,” Collier wrote.</p><p>Another example displays an Amnesty consultant who was found posting an image of two fallen Islamic Jihad terrorists, with a love heart next to the word “heroes.”</p><p>“Time after time, important Amnesty officials were found sharing more material attacking Israel than anything else,” the British expert wrote, “even if officially their attention was meant to be elsewhere.”</p><p>The report was handed over to British law enforcement to examine if the international body committed any felonies.</p>",

1360 "body": "<p>Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro said Saturday that it was wrong for him to tell a journalist a day earlier that he had \"the face of a homosexual.\"</p><p>\"I was wrong. I shouldn't have said it,\" the country's far-right leader told reporters at the presidential residence in Brasilia, according to the news website G1.</p><p>The original comment by the notoriously outspoken president came in response to a reporter's question about an investigation into his eldest son, Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, for alleged money laundering when he was a regional deputy.</p><p>Pressed by the reporter, a visibly flustered Bolsonaro replied, \"You have the face of a homosexual, but that doesn't mean I'm going to accuse you of being a homosexual.\"</p><div class=\"video-wrapper i24-rendered-video\" id=\"video-6102191336001k4g3uqoy\" data-video-id=\"6102191336001\" contenteditable=\"false\"><iframe src=\"https://players.brightcove.net/5377161796001/ByM4bUwbW_default/index.html?videoId=6102191336001\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"></iframe></div><p>His comments, while welcomed by some Bolsonaro supporters, sparked a sharp reaction from media groups.</p><p>Bolsonaro, who is nearing the end of his first year in office, told Playboy magazine in 2011 that he \"wouldn't be able to love a gay son... 1419 "body": "<p>A report in the Israeli media on Saturday claims that top officials are alarmed about the potential consequences of the decision by the International Criminal Court to launch a probe into war crimes allegedly committed in the Palestinian territories.</p><p>According to Channel 12 News, former and current government officials as well as Israel Defense Forces personnel could be vulnerable to prosecution on the international court, should the probe go through and yield indictments. </p><p>A full ICC investigation could possibly lead to charges against individuals. States cannot be charged by the ICC.</p><div class=\"video-wrapper i24-rendered-video\" data-video-id=\"6117641642001\" id=\"video-6117641642001k4h3ohig\" contenteditable=\"false\" data-reactroot=\"\"><iframe src=\"https://players.brightcove.net/5377161796001/ByM4bUwbW_default/index.html?videoId=6117641642001\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"></iframe></div><p>The ICC's preliminary investigation has looked at the 2014 war which left 2,251 dead on the Palestinian side, the majority civilians, and 74 on the Israeli side, most of them soldiers.<br></p><p>It has also looked at violence near the Israel-Gaza border in 2018.</p><p>Also on Saturday, Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit branded the ICC decision “unreasonable,” joining a long line of US and Israeli politicians to slam the step by ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda, including Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former National Security Adviser John Bolton. </p><div class=\"video-wrapper i24-rendered-video\" id=\"video-6117541560001k4h3oanc\" data-video-id=\"6117541560001\" contenteditable=\"false\"><iframe src=\"https://players.brightcove.net/5377161796001/ByM4bUwbW_default/index.html?videoId=6117541560001\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"></iframe></div><p></p><p></p><p></p>",
