Shangrila University - Durand Hall - Lecture Hall

A spacious auditorium typical of those where many of the class lectures here at the University are held, this one has steep, stadium-style seating surrounding a podium at the foot of the room in a broad third-circle. The ceiling is sculpted into a likeness of a theatre's shell, a necessity in the absence of any visible PA system - though some of the professors are known to save their voices with a cantrip or two. The seats themselves are not exactly spacious - a recurring complaint of some of the school's larger students - but certainly sturdy and comfortable enough for their small size. With several rows leading down towards the room's center, the hall could seat perhaps a hundred or so bodies.
The podium itself is a tall, impressively monolithic piece of darkly varnished oak, appearing as much pulpit as lectern. Behind it are a pair of broad, dusty chalkboards for figures and diagrams to accompany the speaker's presentation; these are wheeled, able to be moved apart if the small stage area behind the podium is needed. The hall sees occasional use hosting student concerts or choir recitals, as its acoustics are certainly up to the task.

[Mike Peregrine(#1338)]Mike Peregrine opens the door and comes down the stairs from the Hallway.
[Mike Peregrine(#1338)]Mike Peregrine has arrived.

[Elysia Drake(#10460)]
*Thump* *Thump* Elysia Drakes walk in, with perhaps a strange wlking staff. Staff is less approrpriate than a large harpoon, sharp, barbed head reflecting some of the wan light in the hall from a wicked gleaming point. She squints down to where the set up is beginning, before finding a seat, her normally grin replaced with icy lidded eyes as she takes a seat, propping the harpoon up beside her.
[Beda(#630)] Beda has arrived.

[Ravage(#22361)]
Ravage glances at Elysia, "You seem to be rather intrigued over in these proceedings. Might I inquire over as to the reasoning?" To the Vanilla Triangle inhabitant.

[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
Dr. K appears to be sleeping in the front row of the auditorium. She needs to get ready, but she is just wiped out. So much has been going on lately that she is just a mess.

[Beda(#630)]
Beda hurries in to join Dr K and attend to her, a little concerned by the state she's in.

[Mike Peregrine(#1338)]
Upon entering the lecture hall, Patrolman Mike Peregrine nods to the Captain of Detectives (Ravage) and then rolls his eyes. There they are. Those desks. Shaking his head in resignation, he makes his way towards one of them. His seven-foot long oak quarter-staff is stashed on the floor under the desk (hopefully no one will trip over it) and, gathering his cape about his form, he slips into the wooden seat. Once he has his leather-bound, three by five notebook out of the left pocket of his dark blue shirt and placed on the writing surface of the desk, he is all set.

[Harlan(#11290)] Harlan opens the door and comes down the stairs from the Hallway.
[Harlan(#11290)] Harlan has arrived.

[Elysia Drake(#10460)]
Elysia glances over towards Ravage, "Oh, for this old thing? It's my party harpoon. It's a fun little accessory to themed events, you see." she says, flashing a quick smile to the guard. She drags one nail down the rough haft of the weapon, "Besides, it provides me with a certain sense of... security"

[Ravage(#22361)]
Ravage nods, "Of course. I might suggest htat you want to have something higher power. I've found that titanium makes for acceptable edging. Not particularly heavy, durable, maintains a point. YOu need something that can launch it at high velocity.. Rail coils ar eeffective."

[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
Dr. Kashrivani is asleep in the front row of the lecture hall cum operating theater. She looks wiped out and is going to sleep through her own assembly from the looks of it.

[Harlan(#11290)]
As usual, without much fanfare, here comes the burly duke of Sol, lumbering in, dressed plainly and unassumingly. And, equally typical of him, Harlan forgoes a seat and just takes a lean up against the back wall not far from the entrance. Seemingly content to just stand there in silence with his arms folded as he waits for proceedings to start.

[Elysia Drake(#10460)]
Elysia leans back in her seat, "Well that seems a bit too ostentatious, you see. After all, it's just a simple party harpoon." She glances towards the operating theater, lips pursing before she looks back at the robot, "So where did the Centaurus acquire this particular sample from anyways?"

[Fish Folk Cadaver]
This monstrous creature looks to be some sort of unholy union of fish and man. Skin replaced by thick fish-like scales in many places while still retaining a general humanoid shape. Bulbous eyes, sharp teeth, the lack of a nose, it just doesn't pass for human in any up close inspection.

It's limbs are longer than one would expect, fingers far exceeding that of a human, though more a visual trick than anything. Each finger seems tipped with another length of digit, curled claws where there should be fingertips. Inhuman, grotesque, that is the key to this horrific thing. The only saving grace is that the eyes are clouded over slightly, obviously dead and unmoving. It's webbed feet will never walk again nor will it swim across the ocean to attack.

[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
Dr. K snores herself awake, thankfully. She makes a little shake of her head and looks around then up to the clock on the wall. "Oh no!" She hops up, nearly falls, and turns around to face the people who have gathered. "Hello, hello. Sorry" though she doesn't really have anything to be sorry for currently. She did wake up on time afterall. "If I could have everyone please take a seat. I'm going to check to see if the doctor has arrived and then we will get started. Thank you all for attending this evening. I'll not be a moment." With that Dr. Kashrivani slips out the lecturers entrance behind the sheet covered fishman on the cadaver slab.

[Harlan(#11290)]
Harlan can't help himself when Dr. K rouses back to the land of the living. The corner of his lips crease into a lopsided smile, and there's even a little snort of amusement, though otherwise he stays quiet and composed, listening attentively when she begins speaking. He does not, however, take a seat. Doing just fine lurking in the back, thank you very much.

[Beda(#630)]
Beda gently pats Dr K's arm as she stands, settling by where she was sat quietly.

[Ravage(#22361)]
Ravage glances at Elysia, "One wants something effective in the case it is needed. If one is going to bring something to party with, one might as well get the full intimidatory effecdt of it."

[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
Dr. Azar Kashrivani Prioress of House Centaurus and assistant Headmaster of the Lukeion Institute walks into the auditorium turned surgical theater from the lecturers entrance at the back of the classroom... alone. This is just as she did last time when she was trying to explain that they -thought- there were Fishmen, now they know. She walks around the table where the fishman lays under a sheet and she looks out into the audience to see who is paying attention. "Good evening. Please, please take your seats. We are still waiting for Dr. Folters arrival, but I see no reason to stop completely. As I say Doctor Viktor Folter will be performing the autopsy this evening, with myself and graduate students from University assisting as required, but to start I think maybe an explanation of what we have here would be of interest." She approaches the sheet and whisks it away so that the fishman can be seen by all in the surgery. Dr. Kashrivani can be heard to say, 'my word... hard to get used to.' She says to everyone in the surgery, "Please come feel free to touch, prod, examine the cadaver as you like. Just no cutting or removing of body parts. I'd like to put the thought to bed initially that this is a hoax. The very best way to do this is with complete transparency and allowing each of you to examine the specimen at your leisure."

[Harlan(#11290)]
'Feel free to touch, prod, examine...' Hell of an offer there. One Harlan isn't entirely sure he feels like accepting. The thing looks horrible and he imagines it smells even worse up close. Yet, curiosity - and perhaps a sense of duty - inevitably get the better of him, and after only a moment of hesitation, he pushes off from the wall and descends the stadium-seating steps.
Dr. K is given a smile and a dip of his bearded chin as he approaches the grotesque cadaver, and he still keeps his distance as he looks the thing over with visible disgust and fascination. He doesn't seem to want to prod or touch, but he does examine. And drop a line from Predator, too. "That's one ugly motherfucker."

[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
The rest of the lecture hall is dark aside from the that were brought in for the autopsy. The normal lighting was not good enough for the autopsy, so several were wheeled in from the city hospital for the occasion. They make a pool of light in the center of the room. The light makes the fishman look rubbery. He feels rubbery too, but it's certainly not a man in a rubber suit. The fishman, is a man, it has external male genitalia. Webbed fingers and toes that are elongated and would be very good at swimming.
Azar agrees with the Duke of Sol, "Your Grace, thank you for coming this evening." The thing does in fact smell like a pile of decomposing fish that have been left in the sun for a week. "We don't know why it's decomposing so fast, but since it was thawed out it has been a very fast process."

[Ravage(#22361)]
Ravage glances over at Dr. Kashrivani, "I would advise not engaging with the sample physically to ensure that there is no contamination - of the sample or of those present. Unless of course you wish to find new expeirmental subjects of course." He muses. Idly contemplating lightly giving Elysia's ass a lazy swat.

[Elysia Drake(#10460)]
Elysia does lean forward slightly in her chair to peer at the exposed creature. Her lips forming into thin, sour grimace at the sight of the odious creature. She leans back after that brief inspection, sitting at the desk as she turns her attention towards Dr. K, "Hmm, how long ago was it captured... and dead... alive?" she asks, letting the question hang in the air. But then, as Ravage speaks, "Wait, contamination, what? Is that a thing you think they can do?"

[Harlan(#11290)]
Harlan distractedly nods to Dr. K's gratitude, "Sure." with his attention still fixed upon the smelly, rubbery-looking cadaver. One hand in his pocket, there's a decidedly grim look on his face as he carefully studies the specimen, then glances over at Ravage, admitting, "I sure ain't got no yearnin' to touch the damn thing."
Then, with a look over to Elysia, he piggybacks off her question with one of his own as his heterochromatic eyes sweep back towards the Prioress, "And who captured it?"

[Ravage(#22361)]
Ravage turns to Elysia, "I would not think so, but they are still an unknown biological organism. I would prefer to not find that they are virulent, or alternatively that they are something which exposure to gives some form of.. Biological virulence. Many pathogens can spread easily by physical contact and.. Well, this is a completely different lifeform likely altered by experience to the realm which exists in the sea and is biologically established in it."

[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
Since Doctor Folter hasn't arrived yet Dr. K enlists Ms. Beda's help then in getting into a set of surgical whites. "We have not determined if there are any pathogens internal to the specimen, but external there appears to be nothing more than the standard bacteria one would find on a decomposing body." She does shrug though, and concedes, "Might be a good idea to wash your hands after touching it." With regard to the Dukes question she shrugs, "I'm not exactly sure who captured it, but it was captured at the 'Flounders Festival?' the rather poorly executed event held on the beach a few weeks ago. I understand part of the 'draw' for the event was offering up young fertile females to the fishmen to abduct. I didn't attend, but I'm told they had a dozen virgins staked out in the water and that brought the fishmen to shore." She waves her hand like, "Obviously an exaggeration, where in the realm would you find a dozen virgins?"

[Beda(#630)]
Beda moves to help Dr K as asked, quietly helping her into the whites, smoothing the cloth before moving back to her seat. She's keeping well away from the figure herself.

[Ravage(#22361)]
Ravage continues, "And it's rapid decomposition is unusual as well." He glances at ELysia int hought.

[Jellen(#39577)]
Jellen lifts her hand suddenly without any warning shame on her face as she calls out towards the doctor, "Do anal virgins count? If so, I know where to find a couple." She takes her hand back down adn looks back down to the desk she's occupied. She doesn't REALLY wait for an answer, just going back down to tapping at what looks like a phone or some other device. Just being a troublemaker out of the blue.

[Elysia Drake(#10460)]
Elysia drake leans back in her seat, frowning. Her arms cross firmly over her chest, both at the idea of pathogens, the scowl growing deeper and darker at the mention of the 'Flounder Festival.' She does pipe up though, "Dr. Kashrivani, might I have a word with you after the lecture, or perhaps at a later time?" she asks curiously, raising one eyebrow as the woman begins slipping into the surgical gown.

[Harlan(#11290)]
Harlan, seemingly aware of this festival and its nature, nods thoughtfully with a certain knowing smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth, though his response is little more than an ambiguous-sounding, "Hm." as he takes a few final moments to mull over the creature's body before stepping away and giving Dr. K and Beda room to proceed. On his way back up the steps and to his little spot against the wall, he glances over at Jellen with another lopsided smirk though he keeps his comments to himself.

[Ravage(#22361)]
Ravage goes to let out a sigh, "I would suggest that all of you who are.. Ah, engaged with the specimen ensure that you go throug proper decontamination procedures after to ensure that you are not ath, ah, any sort of risk."

[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
This isn't really what Dr. K is good at, but she has a book. She reads as she looks up to the people gathered as well as the several students that have attended, "The Y-Incision is the procedure used by the pathologist to open up the breastplate of the deceased and gain access to the body's major organs; heart, lungs, liver, stomach, spleen etc. This incision is so called because it resembles the shape of the letter Y and is cut from either shoulder to the lower end of the sternum and then downwards in a straight line over the abdomen to the pubis." She puts on a pair of gloves and then gets this rather large sharp knife up from the tray set near the slab, "Ummm, yes? certainly certainly." is offered to Elysia, but Azar is like looking at this knife as if it were something holy. She starts the incision and turns even a bit more green as the knife has a hard time getting through the scales and skin, "It's hide, skin, it's very sturdy. I should think the pressure I'm applying now would be move than enough to cut through standard human skin." She coughs and blanches as a wave of odor rises from the Y incision. To her credit though she doesn't hurl. The miasma wafts through the surgery foul and sticking, hanging on in the air.

[Beda(#630)] Beda goes home.
[Beda(#630)] Beda has left.

[Jellen(#39577)]
Jellen lifts her little phone, snaps a picture and almost immediately reaches down to her pocket. Without missing a beat she pulls out a little bag with cotton balls and a small round tin. She uncrews the tin and smears two balls with whatever some jelly like substance is in it. It goes right up her nose, making her wince and eyes water a little as she plugs her nose with cotton and whatever the hell oily substance was just smeared onto them. It gets quietly packed away after a moment and she just starts to breath through her mouth instead of her nose. Her phone comes right back up and there's another little clicking sound effect from the device as she starts to snap pictures of it as it gets cut up and flayed.

[Harlan(#11290)]
Harlan's stomach turns as the stink from that sliced-open seamonster eventually spreads across the room and hits his nose, but, likewise, even with his heightened sense of smell making it all the worse, he doesn't hurl. There's a grimace of disgust, and a moment to cover up his nose with his hand, but then, steeling himself, he clears his throat with a slight cough and continues watching the autopsy in silence.

[Elysia Drake(#10460)]
Elysia grimaces, coughing at the stench, "And I thought they smelled bad on the outside." She reaches down into her satchel, ,pulling out a vape stick, to take a long puff of something. Purely medicinal, to help settle her stomach.

[Ravage(#22361)]
Ravage lets out a sigh, "THen disconnect your olfactory receptors.. Or simply take some sort of mask." Are there any? Ravage goes to glance around to see if there are any of the surgical masks with filters. At this point, he goes to dart along to take one and bring it up to Ms. Drake

[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
The thing on the table makes a flatulent noise, but it's difficult to know where the sound came from. It doesn't bleed much as there is no circulation. Azar wretches a little, but holds it together. It's a force of will thing, not a desire. She totally looks like she wants to hurl, but she is in full on teacher mode and wants to ensure she is doing this right. "After the Y-Incision has been made all of the organs are removed and weighed. This is done because certain types of illness can cause a reduction or increase in the weight of organs such as the heart and/or the lungs. Most times when removed these organs are removed in one unit but sometimes - depending on trauma to the body - are removed in a specific sequence. Blood samples are taken, samples for DNA testing (as and when necessary but not necessary in all autopsies), and toxicological tests are carried out on the heart for signs of poisoning if no physical injuries have manifested themselves." She laughs a little at this and gets the bone saw out. She tests the motor with a WHHHHhhhiiiiiIIIiiirrrrRRR and nods, "I don't think we need to worry about illness being the cause of death. She strats to cut along the ribs where the book indicates and the process is surprisingly difficult to do. "The bones seem very dense. The creature so far has proven to be fairly resilient to normal... damage? I'm not sure. Very tough to cut, very hard to saw through." she removes the breast plate after all the ribs had been cut and it pulls away with a sickening sclorcking sound with connective tissue and such all straining and pulling away like taffy in a taffy puller. 'oh dear god' she breathes and coughs.

[Jellen(#39577)]
"Yah, I don't think weighing the organs is going to do much doc. You need something to compare it against, and I'm not sure if that's it's testicles or it's it's lungs down there." Jellen speaks up again, more smart ass remarks from the mouthbreather trying to keep anything from going up that nose anymore. She goes back to her quiet watching after a moment though, hand still coming up to take pictures of interesting things.

[Elysia Drake(#10460)]
Elysia coughs slightly, though it's accompanied by a big puff of her vape, and then there's the small hiss of the device getting hit like a champ again, as that whirring rotor saw cut through congealed muscle and the surprsingly dense bone. She smiles at Ravage, "thanks there, but this is mostly doing the trick..." she says with another cough. She calls down to the doctor, "So it's got actual bone, not cartilidge, like most fish, huh?"

[Harlan(#11290)]
Its damn unpleasant, even at a distance, so there's plenty of sympathy for Dr. K as she goes about gutting the creature. Harlan winces again, slightly but noticeably, when its chest is pried open with a slimy stomach-turning sound, though he doesn't shy away, keeping a close eye on all that's revealed.

[Ravage(#22361)]
Ravage mms, "Interesting. Do you have any idea what sort of biomass it appears to be generated from? Shame we do not have immediately useful samples fro others of it's ilk. We could compare them to see fi they're separate entities or cloned materialisms."

[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
Ms. Beda comes up and takes several pictures of the open chest cavity before Azar continues. There are normal human organs in the torso, but also a flat bhroncial looking structure that extends over the lungs and into them. It looks as if the structure grew -after- the lungs were fully formed. "I think you are right Ms. Jellen, but still so that we have record I will follow the procedure as stipulated in the text. Just for records." She walks over to the open chest cavity at that point and looks down into the horror that is there. It's just biology of course, and her mother did want her to become a medical doctor. That just wasn't something done in her time. She starts cutting the connective tissue and vessels separating the organs from the torso wall and if one was to be paying close attention they might hear Azar humming? Anything to keep her mind off the Glopping of fluids off the liver, or the leaking of a coppery fluid from what is likely the stomach. She weights the heart and then proceeds lower. "I think this was a human, or was partially a human before becoming -this-." She answers Elysia and Ravage both, "The lungs for instance look like the 'gills' grew into them. The stomach and intestines look more streamlined, like nutrients pass through quickly. The testicles are enormous in comparison to a human man, but they look just like ..." she breaks off as she looks up to the gallery. In her left hand is a rather large teste, it's as big as a pool ball and she is playing with it weighing the thing in her hand like she has a lot of experience in knowing the size these should be. "Obviously it's enormous. I would think this is owing to how a fish spawns externally and how the fishman breeds internally, but this is just speculation."

[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
Azar keeps reading and ensuring that her students are at least getting something out of this. "Again, a lot of this is superfluous it wasn't poison or a gun shot that killed this specimen, but still if this were an investigation. "After this the abdomen is examined and tissue samples taken for analysis and the contents of the stomach are examined. Examining the contents of the stomach can determine when the victim last had a meal and also what that meal consisted of. This is vitally important if determining time of death is a major factor. As with anything we eat the body takes time to digest it, removing valuable nutrients and energy producing elements and this takes time moving through the digestive tract. Meals that are partially digested, completely digested or not digested at all can all lead to time frames being adopted for the time of death. Samples of bile from the gall bladder, ocular (eye) fluid, liver tissue and urine are also taken for toxicology testing as some poisons may not show in one part of the body but will show in others." So she goes about doing all of this. She squeezes out the stomach into plastic tub and sifts through it with a metal probe. She nearly loses it when she gets to the intestines. A big glop of something most foul falls out onto her foot, and Azar very rarely wears shoes. A shiver rolls through her body and she closes her eyes. Ms. Beda comes to the rescue wiping her foot off and then giving her a bucket to wash her foot in. "Note to self, next time shoes."

[Harlan(#11290)]
Harlan gives the fishman's cueball-sized nut another visibly digusted look, though he does jump on her initial suspicion, "Human, or human'ish, before it became... that?" The duke frowns down at the corpse, then turns his heterochromatic gaze back towards Dr. K, trying to sort it out, "So aside from the normal breeding routine, does this mean they might also be able to multiply by transformin' folk into other creatures?"

[Ravage(#22361)]
Ravage inquires, "Then biologically if they can theoretically reproduce intenrally, why the need then to abduct victims? If they can do so within themselves, what is the need to take others ? That would be an inefficient means of reproduction, and much slower to perform." He nods at the response on 'lungs'.

[Elysia Drake(#10460)]
Elysia blink at the nut, and the splat as it drops to the floor, stifling a small snicker. "They might be able to transform more than just humans too. That one that rushed my guys was a heck of a lot bigger than the normal ones. More like a damned fish-gorilla than fish man" she says, then blinks, glancing down at her vape as if it betrayed her and thrusting it back into her satchel.
[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
Azar notes the gills in the creatures neck, as she turns to the head. "he pathologist makes a triangular incision across the top of the scalp to reveal the brain and first of all examines it inside the head. Then once this has been completed satisfactorily the brain is removed for a more thorough inspection and also for tissue samples to be taken. Azar stops at this point and says, "I think we can all agree that this is where we should find the most difference between humans and fishmen. They were orchestrated in their attack, they had psionic abilities, and ..." She listens to both Harlan and Ravage and shakes her head a little, " Possibly I misspoke. They have a penis, so the biology would suggest the fertilize eggs inside a female, not in the way fish species do by swimming over eggs and ejaculating sperm. We have yet to find a female that has been abducted either. I think this should be very high on our list of things to accomplish. To the point of started as human and now are fish and human. As was pointed out, they have bone not cartlidge. Quite possibly they grow to puberty or some other hormonal trigger and then grow into this."

[Harlan(#11290)]
Harlan cuts his mismatched eyes over to Elysia when she pipes up about fish-gorilla, looking a little disturbed by the sound of that, then, turning his attention back to Dr. K, he listens and nods as she speaks, scratching his beard thoughtfully. "Only question would be how to lure a female out. I sure as shit wouldn't want to go burrowin' down in any underwater cave in search o' one."

[Ravage(#22361)]
Ravage mms over, "So, do we have any presumptions what might have instigated the.. Mass alterations in the first place? Presuming something related to the Portal, do we have any theories as tow hat the original species might have been when it comes to point of origin?"

[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
Dr. K nods to Ravage, "I think the portal is the most obvious possible cause. Not all of us, but many change when they come through the portal. A man might have been brought through and changed into a fishman. In order to continue his species he began abducting females, all of his offspring were male and so therefore the process had to be continually repeated. I think the more interesting thing is why are we just seeing them now? Is this a new thing, or how long has it been going on for."

[Marina(#17422)] Marina opens the door and comes down the stairs from the Hallway.
[Marina(#17422)] Marina has arrived.

[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
Azar starts to cut on the scalp, The pathologist makes a triangular incision across the top of the scalp to reveal the brain and first of all examines it inside the head. Then once this has been completed satisfactorily the brain is removed for a more thorough inspection and also for tissue samples to be taken." Azar clears her throat as she reads and tries not to stop for too long.

[Harlan(#11290)]
"In all my years," Harlan admits, "I ain't ever seen somethin' like that, and I've seen a lot of strange things comin' out of the deep. There's creatures great and small, and quite a few are pretty terrifyin' to look at, but they usually ain't hostile. Not unless provoked. So perhaps those things were livin' the good life out somewheres and somethin' disturbed 'em? Brought 'em closer to the coastline? Or, aye, maybe its just somethin' new. Either way, I don't think we want these things prowlin' our shores on the regular." The duke then falls silent as the autopsy continues, squinting some to overcome the distance.

[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
The brain proves to be a very interesting bit of work. Azar doesn't know what she is looking at, but there it is. "Over teh top there is a large smooth structure that is similar in consistency to the liver. This isn't a structure seen in a normal human brain. Like the lungs it looks to have evolved after what I would call the 'normal' brain tissue had matured. The skull is deformed, I couldn't say if it is consistent across the species, but it is deformed to fit this extra organ. It could be what htye use for sonar, psionics, communication under water. We will need to study this at length." She puts the brain in a glass jar and hands it to Ms. Beda to take and put in refrigeration immediately.

[Mike Peregrine(#1338)]
Mike Peregrine, in his 'past life', had to look at corpses before. Sometimes in the morgue where they had been dissected by the Medical Examiner. So he came prepared. As soon as the scalpel came out, so did a small jar of Vick's vapor rub. From the front left pocket of his dark-blue pants. Not only did he smear a 'Groucho Marx' like moustache across his upper lip, he also inserted some of the ointment up inside his nostrils.
He continues to make notes, occasionally shifting in his seat, trying (unsuccessfully) to get comfortable in the small wooden desk.

[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
Azar is reluctant to agree with the Duke of Sol, but she has to concede the point, "So far what we know is that they are dangerous and don't respond to attempts at communication. They seem very singular in purpose as well as capable of causing harm to our citizens." The autopsy complete nothing more was really learned, aside from more things to research, but Azar seems content with the current evidence. "The specimen will be kept here in the cooler until it proves to be beyond it's use. I think we'll keep the skeleton in the museum after a fashion. I'm a bit saddened by all of this. We are a very accepting realm, we allow many types of sentient life to coexist with us, but these creatures appear to be set in their ways and non-communicative. I think we have very little choice."

[Harlan(#11290)]
Harlan nods to Dr. K's observation, adding his own somewhat grim-sounding comment: "We'll do what we have to, I suppose."

[Ravage(#22361)]
Ravage shrugs, "At any level, hopefully with sufficient biological material relatively intacdt it should be possible to create something to poison it that could be spread over a wide area. Presuming that it could be spread throughout the ocean it might help cleanse the majority of the infestation or weaken it enoug hto allow more forceful cleansing."

[Jellen(#39577)]
Jellen finally pockets her little device after taking pictures, videos, all of that. Ears flick as she does listen and watch what's going on but there isn't anything else to really film anymore. She pushes herself up from her seat in the back and clears her throat, "That fish smells off, but crab, no one can say no to crab legs. I'm just sayin, Wok me Amadeus hasn't had a new meat choice in a long while. Just get that one lady at the all you can eat buffet that has crab. The'll be extinct in a week." She makes the joke at least with a big of a chuckle herself, "Anyhow, I heard dynamite is great for fishing, and that thing smells like copper and fish fermented in ass sweat. I've gotta get outta here because I still wanna have shovel food down my throat later." There's one tagging out and crying mercy, already pulling stuffed cotton out of her nose as she coughs heading out the door.
[Jellen(#39577)] Jellen goes home.
[Jellen(#39577)] Jellen has left.

[Mike Peregrine(#1338)]
Mike Peregrine looks quizzically at his Superior Officer. "Chemical Warfare, Captain?" he asks Ravage. Mike was in the trenches of what at the time was called 'the Great War'.

[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
Dr. K puts the sheet back over the cadaver and a couple of grad students come in and wheel it off to put it in the cooler. "I'll have a more detailed report the end of this next week, and possibly the DNA will be back by then and we can see just how human our fish friend is. Are there any questions?"

[Elysia Drake(#10460)]
Elysia rises, grabbing the 'party harpoon,' "those things are awful, and even if they were human once, they seem to have some greater biological imperaative that makes them assholes. I say we purge them" she says, the butt of the harpoon *thump-thumping* as she takes her leave.

[Elysia Drake(#10460)] Elysia Drake climbs the stairs to the back of the room, exiting through the double doors.
[Elysia Drake(#10460)] Elysia Drake has left.

[Ravage(#22361)] Ravage nods to Mike Peregrine, "Of a sort. If we can isolate a biological spectrum and produce something that is targeted towards thier genome, it would hpefully deal with them quickly. Without effecting other life forms. Of course, that's theoretical."

[Harlan(#11290)]
The duke of Sol appears to share the same concern as Mike, glancing over at Ravage, "Not sure I like the idea of droppin' any sort o' poison in our seas but, well... guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there. Or when we know more about how to stop 'em, rather." Harlan then pushes off the wall and yet again traverses down the steps, the cadence of his heavy footfalls a bit off rhythm with his limp, and with a shake of his head to Dr. K, he first says, "No other questions from me..." and after a long look at the sheet-covered cadaver, the stink continuing to disagree with him, he dips his head respectfully to the Prioress, "Thank you for undertakin' this. Its a nasty bit o' business for sure," with a quick glance back to the smelly corpse, "but I'd trust few others with it."
He smiles at her, lingering for just a moment, he then finishes with, "Well... see ya at the meetin', then." before turning and, unless stopped, thumping his way back up the stair-row and out the door.

[Dr. Kashrivani(#36259)]
Dr. Kashrivani raises an eyebrow, "We do still think there are abducted females with them. Correct?"

[Marina(#17422)] Marina goes home.
[Marina(#17422)] Marina has left.

[Mike Peregrine(#1338)]
After struggling for a few seconds with his stocks-like desk, Mike Peregrine suceeds in standing up. He rubs his calves, trying to stimulate the blood to flow back into them and rid the tingling sensations in his lower extreminities. He retrieves his quarter-staff from the floor under his desk and descends to the main level. "Thank you for the demonstration, Doctor," he says to the host. "I wish you luck in finding answers."
