7couple weeks well actually no the last
8week because I didn't the last couple
9weeks is people usually don't they don't

13likely to to show up because they have
14it fresher on the mine so today with me
15I have of course as you all know I've
16had on before Miss Erica McCord
17hello and for the first yeah for the
18first time ever ever we have mr. Stan
19Dahlan on with us today and of course
20you know y'all know Manny he's he's been
21on with me a party yeah he's just here
22he's here so yet this is something of
23course this is actually something I'd
24want to do for was get get you two
25together because it seems like you have
26made the rounds on you know with some
27other people but y'all hadn't I noticed
28you I hadn't been on any streams
29together since this you know since all
30this whole debacle has started you know
31back a couple months ago so I thought it
32would be interesting to get you both on
33together and just kind of talk about not
34just your experiences obviously with
35with all the stuff that's happened in
36the last couple months but also to talk
37about some convention stuff with you
38guys because you you all work together
39on I believe it was AWA right is it sure
40y'all worked on together so I guess that
41that would be a good way to start off is
42how did you guys meet
43obviously I'm assuming it was at the
44convention but how did you all meet and
45how what was it like working together
46and what are some of the experiences
47that you all had working together and
48either one of you whichever one who
49wants to go ahead and start that off go
50ahead Stan well Erica was a volunteer to
51begin with and she decided she wanted to
52go into a different department I guess
53after what she explained about being uh
54pushed into a door you
55slammed into the glass door yeah so she
56said that was enough of that and she
57tried she came to a staff meeting and
58she applied for guest relations and I
59interviewed her and I think it was
60probably what five minutes or so yeah it
61was a short conversation short little
62conversation and I said okay she's on
63staff just like that
64no and it happened just like that you
65should know that's how I remember it at
66least exactly how it happened and the
67one thing I didn't talk about was what
68the guests I didn't talk about the job
69yeah job okay so so so that was
70something that came as a surprise after
71the fact oh by the way you're gonna be
72handling guests it was a no to play
73forgetful okay such a weak but she
74didn't know exactly if she was gonna be
75in how the organization layout for my
76department was I'm the head of guest
77relations and and the head person over
78the green room where is Joe who is
79actually the director for the green room
80I was her boss so she took care of the
81green room but she reported to me and
82then Erica I was deciding whether she
83was going to go play in green in the
84green room or in guest relations and
85I've put her with guest relations no
86okay so and and when was this what year

90and started in oh nine yeah was so
91throughout the so stand you had you had
92stopped work you all both pretty much
93had stopped working at AWA
94on the same time am i right or was there
95any was there like a year or two off or
96before her okay - you went out in 13 and
97I went out with 16 yep okay so y'all got
98to work together for for a couple years
99then but maybe three four five years
100maybe yeah about five years so what were
101some of the most memorable things you
102all experienced while working at AWA
103from the time that you all were there
104around the same time specifically well
105what you're so we without doxing any
106names you seeing one of one of your
107guests in a towel oh did he at least put
108the hand towel in a diamond shape no it
109was more just like he had the towel sort
110of like this on hand and he opened the
111door you know he didn't even like like
112peek open the door to stick his head out
113he just open well done we'll never
114forget that ever ever while we're on
115that oh we got a super chair missed me
116toy tape banana stand money finally you
117adult many you were missed appreciate
118that ask me thank you so much they keep
119the lights on
120appreciate that so why so so what about
121was that the most memorable thing you
122remember as well Stan there's the whole
123you know just one handed one in what had
124to tell ya when in candid tell Ivan
125I didn't he had to listen to me that was
126one of my first years it listened to
127maybe like um because we thought the
128guest was dead and we were really
129concerned for his safety because when I
130came in one of two gifts that we thought
131were dead yeah that year was it was like
132we we
133and we called yes he's very alive and a
134very good person despite whatever but uh
135yeah well he had come in late and he
136gotten checked in and then I was
137supposed to get him in the morning and
138take him to his first a bit it's got
139their knocked on the door with no answer
140banging on the door no answer called a
141cell phone no answer
142called the hotel room no answer banging
143on the door some more no answer call
144this hotel room you get the thing and
145then finally I got so worried that we
146ended up having to call the hotel staff
147to we're like we need you to let us into
148this room because we're concerned that
149something has happened and it was while
150the hotel staff was on the way security
151was on the way to open the door for us
152that that occurred and he's like what
153and I'm like like I'm I'm like yeah eyes
154up here
155I was like um you're supposed to be at
156an autograph signing five minutes ago so
157yeah well I just I just got out of the
158shower as had we've been trying to call
159you for half an hour he's a guy I'm plug
160the phone in the room and and my phone's
161dead I'm like okay he's still five
162minutes late for your autograph sighting
163I'm coming oh okay what thank you I
164think standing was correctly the he took
165a really hot shower and the room was
166really steamy misty was his pass on that
167one yes as I see it you see in a
168situation like that I think I might have
169been a little bit more you know probably
170would have wanted to mess with mess with
171them a little bit it's like I was new no
172I got I get it I get in yours you don't
173you don't want it you don't want to do
174or say anything that might you know
175cause I was still just really worried he
176had died like I thought he was dead in
177the room wholehearted though I was
178talking about thinking our guests were
179dead the other one he was a narcoleptic
180and of course we didn't know that at the
181time he didn't provide that information
182either
183and he we found out as soon as he
184arrived because he he had to disclose it
185because he forgot to bring his
186medication with him Oh interesting that
187was ever it was around and he was he got
188there Thursday Friday
189you could you could tell you know from
190every hour he was just winding down to
191when you've got to Saturday he had a
192panel early Saturday and then we had to
193take him to a doctor see a doctor to get
194get to fill out a prescription for him
195for a class for drug Wow I don't
196remember her I never heard I'm only
197heard about this after the fact is I
198don't remember ever hearing about it at
199the Oh was it when I was there I don't
200know when he was when that guess was for
201this message send me a PM with the guest
202name okay right now Yuki who was a his
203handler mm-hmm I definitely wasn't that
204wasn't when I was there because I don't
205remember any new keys yeah so Yuki or
206youth oh forget which that was like it
207her first and last time she volunteered
208well there because he was such a handful

211couldn't get him up he thought we
212thought he was dead Wow in this hotel
213room and he she acted like oh you know

216do what you got to do together these
217guests I'm sorry I have been called mrs.

219I can count we careful now somebody's
220gonna clip that and they're gonna take
221and be like Oh what do you mean like for
222the weekend what would happen there oh
223don't don't do it don't do it kids so
224real quick I'm kind of ignorant when it
225comes to narcolepsy and I'm so sorry if
226anybody suffers from that but I find
227that to be one of the funnier things to
228suffer from because you could be having
229a riveting conversation and then I ran
230over like now is there stages of it like
231how does it how does that really yeah
232like how exactly does it was there was
233there points where he was actually mid
234conversation with anybody and started
235kind of like dozing off or at his table
236or was it just more like they're just
237very tired you can get him draining
238energy with his meter going down real
239low narcolepsy has has is is not like
240people think of it as someone falling
241asleep but what actually happens is they
242have like partial or total muscle
243control loss and just like it's not like
244they're sitting in a chair and they just
245fall asleep it's like their their body
246just completely goes out oh shut up
247like I said I oh yeah right well if you
248found him in the hotel room key body
249you'd die yeah I mean that you can have
250sleep paralysis with it you can just
251have like episodes you can have
252hallucinations narcolepsy causes
253hallucinations yeah because I know

255that he suffers from it but Hayes I
256think is more like he just gets really

303the doughnuts out until these doughnuts
304out till 11:00 so like I was extending
305they're like I've gotta get gotta get

336a store so I went there specifically to
337visit my friend my ex-roommate here in
338Georgia many many moons back and who's
339living in Japan still currently living
340in Japan and where do they live I mean

342said I could come over and it'd be okay
343well when I can I borrow a cup of rice
344when I visited him he was living in a
345little city in in near Tokyo okay so but
346he recently moved so I'm not sure where
347he is now oh nice so stand for people
348that don't know in the chat just in case
349for I mean I'm pretty sure everyone at
350this point is familiar with both of you
351from from all the stuff that's happened
352but just just in case for for people
353that don't know in the chat what what
354was your official title at AWA just so
355people could kind of understand a little
356bit more your position and and what what
357it was the things that you oversaw while
358you were there because they already know
359since I've had Erika on before they know
360about her her role in guest relations my
361public position it was guest relations
362director but I was also part of the
363board the board of AWA so or whether as
364they say an admin
365so I was upper tier management not just
366a guess really since director yeah I
367have a question for Stan you know you
368don't have to answer this but did you
369get paid in that job as a director as a
370board member
371no that's what I thought yeah I was just
372curious
373yeah there's there was only one person
374getting paid or any of the other board
375members I was gonna say to start with an
376L yes and and just you know for those of
377you in chat that are wondering about
378that that's actually very common in in
379conventions usually the only person
380getting paid is the person that's
381putting the show together in a lot of
382cases it's very rare unless it's like a
383super mega convention like like you know
384that's that's getting like you know me
385act like a X or like you know a mega con
386or something like that
387chances are the people at the the people
388at the top even even the people closest
389to the top aren't getting paid like I
390said unless it's a huge huge conventions
391usually only the promoter and and maybe
392maybe like I said maybe one or two other
393people a lot of times it's not that way
394a lot of times people that are a part of
395a board or part of administration are
396not getting paid they're they're
397basically yeah they're volunteers with a
398lot of a lot more responsibility that
399yeah are basically doing it purely out
400of passion yeah unless no one is paid I
401mean in your own words Stan I mean
402what's and just sorry just the candidate
403question or what's the benefit in it
404asides from meeting maybe somebody that
405you've always wanted to meet or being
406part of the event why why do it what's
407the amenities are the perks of it oh for
408me it was just you know get to see an
409animate creator or or maybe the voice
410you know because I was have always been
411an anime fan but it's gotten to the
412point when you get older you have less
413time to watch anime and there
414never stops coming out yep more and more
415titles comes out I mean it's a it's hard
416to hard to keep up there yeah it's I
417know exactly which mean because it and
418the thing is and I don't know it like
419for me and I'm sure because you you did
420it for pretty much how long how many
421years consecutively did you do it stand
422for at least you know was I know for
423sure more than 10 years but how many
424years specifically were you involved in
425in conventions because you also founded
426your own convention as well you know 18
42718 years with and then when I was doing
428a AWA I was doing five other shows on
429top of that plus working a regular job
430dang say that's education right there or
431a beast see that's what I'm saying it's
432just like a lot of it is is just that
433it's passion because for me it was that
434and then you know but with that comes
435after a certain point in time and it's
436and I think it's different for everybody
437but it's you after a certain point in
438time when things start to change and not
439necessarily for the better you get that
440disillusionment with you know that's
441right such a money sink oh just some
442hotel rooms especially if you're
443convention doesn't give you any sort of
444discount or yeah or any kind of
445reimbursement just the hotel room alone
446it is exorbitant I the last time I
447stayed at the main host hotel for AWA I
448think the rooms were in the like the
449high 100's and you know for guest
450relations you usually have to at that
451point aw I had moved to afford a candle
452I'd say three and a half day convention
453they say for a day but it's like the
454middle of it was the middle of Thursday
455when I was there but you so you have to
456be there on Wednesday to when the guests
457come in and you have to stay until
458Monday wasn't a guest go out a lot of
459the time so yeah it's just so expensive
460oh yeah it is yeah I've been there
461before it sucks when you weren't around
462when someone left
463Tuesday or Wednesday into the show yeah
464I know well that yeah that's some of
465them just couldn't stay that long I
466think the longest I ever stayed was I
467stayed until a Tuesday one time but that
468was just more just so that I can enjoy
469the hotel amenities because there's the
470amazing spa in the Waverly oh yeah yeah
471that's that's one of the few things I
472think one of the few benefits is is a
473where the location might be at and of
474course some of the other things that
475come with it you know getting to meet
476some of the people that that um you
477either you know have you know you've
478always wanted to meet for either because
479they were a creator that inspired you or
480or whatever just because you have a
481passion for it or just again the
482location sometimes works out great like
483for us I mean I think one of the where
484we were doing our where we were doing
485the show at was right across from
486Universal Studios so there's all that
487you know I mean and then a lot of times
488the people that were part of there was a
489lot of people on staff that either
490worked there as well and they got
491tickets so that was another thing like
492Oh world walk hey after the show on such
493as so stay on you know let's go let's go
494to the let's go to Universal this this
495week you know after the show is done and
496stuff like that so that was part of the
497benefit I guess of of working there and
498and being you know in real touristy area
499oh yeah oh yeah that's is is that where
500I'm kawaii Kon is that uh is that sander
501that's my boy okay what we're gonna ask
502no no I was just gonna say if you guys
503are cool with it cuz Stan mentioned he
504likes to watch anime and I I agree with
505you as you get older you don't get a lot
506but would it be nice towards the end of
507the stream tonight just just just to put
508the pin here can we kind of compare on
509what our current animes is and what
510we're watching currently is that is that
511can we do that no I haven't been able to
512watch anything yet yeah oh well we'll
513talk about some stuff towards the end
514we'll talk a little bit of anime man
515it's a good to hear what the what the
516classic anime fans like and I try to
517keep up to date as much as I can but
518yeah so one thing I had asked Erica last
519time she was she was honest and I think
520think you might have been in the in the
521chapter that was and I guess I asked you
522directly now that now that you're here
523there have been people that have and I'm
524sure you've had this experience for it
525not just with you know the situation
526that they kind of brought you guys in
527the in the public eye but also the also
528the AMA you know there's there's a this
529has happened with obviously people that
530have been talking about the situation
531publicly but it you know there's there's
532somebody in particular that that uh it
533goes by the name or they get they have
534given this person the name man jaw that
535has you know said some things publicly
536about one one vic Mignogna now this is
537not so much about vic but overall people
538like that they kind of speak about
539things that happen at conventions that
540you know claim to be staffers like but
541they portray themselves as being so much
542more in the know than they actually are
543now this is something that i've
544experienced a lot in you know working at
545the convention that i was a part of for
546six years was people kind of just kind
547of selling their position at the show as
548being much more important than what it
549actually was so what i wanted to ask you
550about was aside from that particular
551person which we could comment on later
552how many instances have you experienced
553you know throughout your you know career
554of doing conventions and stuff where
555people have kind of tried to like abuse
556it I once leave really abuse power but
557tried to portray themselves and try to
558make it seem like they're in a much
559bigger position of power how often has
560that happened in conventions you've been
561a part of and has there ever been any
562instances where that might have caused
563problems at any particular shows mm-hmm
564Pat in the old resume baby pad in that
565resume we there was a one time of a
566gentleman claim he was on staff and he
567could get certain attendees a special
568rate on on
569getting tickets and he wasn't exactly
570that I mean he was associated with the
571group but he wasn't he didn't have a
572position of power to to authorize such a
573a discounted rate on on tickets and that
574that did cause problems trying to think
575of mmm
576I know a assistant director who got into
577a conversation online with a person
578while they were playing some online game
579I think it was like chests or cards or
580whatnot and they were talking about one
581of our upcoming guests and that guest
582the person she was talking to happen to
583be a close friend of that guest and so
584that conversation ended up going to that
585guest and then that guest calling
586Wow well in this case emailing me saying
587what that conversation was about and it
588wasn't a pleasant conversation I bet and

590they put meeting they have they got the
591name of the person who's and I thought
592it was a joke name and then when they
593told it to me I'm like oh god I know
594exactly who that person is yes that's
595the real name because it they were
596flabbergasted and then and I'm like oh
597you know egg on my face I'm like not
598really happy and and no if you were no
599you weren't there because that was
600directors meeting end of the convention
601we have a a post con meeting with all
602the directors and the board and we would
603have a talk about what went right and
604wrong what we're going to do the
605following year and yep and I addressed
606the entire crowd and let them know that
607that you know you should pay
608ancient to who you talk to you online
609because you might be talking to - a
610friend of the guest or the guest
611themselves and your conversation to them
612word was not very pleasant and you
613should be more mindful of death because
614you you are representing the group and
615forget what exactly he said but I ended
616up telling telling the group that with
617if you didn't know already
618Gregg Ayers was gay so your convert you
619what you said to them was not exactly
620how does not know great news was getting
621oh my they weren't listening well anyway
622that person I was staring at that person
623at the meeting so I don't
624it didn't say their name but yeah they
625you let them know that you knew yeah I
626know exactly who it was yeah yeah I made

628I told everyone in the room that the
629person's in the room Wow there you go so
630am i incorrect to say this this is a
631question for you Erica regarding stand
632it stand the type of person who speaks
633softly but carries a very very big tree
634trunk light stick I don't know one time
635I distinctly recall Stan losing his his
636stuff with us particular a particular
637prank that happened over in the
638Milwaukee sake system which I had no
639card in but a certain guest that we all
640know and love did so Wow oh yeah that
641they got onto the main main
642walkie-talkie system and they did it on
643the main channel which goes to
644everybody that was the whole point and

646lots of Sunday morning this drama played
647starts going on over the airwaves it's a
648zombie apocalypse drama play that 100
649staffers had written and it's actually a
650published book now you guys got a sneak
651preview so and then after that happened
652then we have the the first aid group
653losing their mind losing their minds and
654then having wheelchair races was that I
655heard that it was them was it because I
656heard that it was a certain at that time
657ad and not an ad after that was involved
658in that who was certainly not in medical
659well yeah yeah because both sides were
660not very happy with yeah that year a lot
661of stores that that was also the year
662that the kids got hit by the car there
663was one there was one year where it was
664like fire and brimstone raining down the
665entire weekend oh yeah yeah so next to
666the convention center for aw a there is
667a massive like eight-lane highway and
668there is a sky bridge that goes across
669it and it's not busy or anything like
670that it's quite large but these
671attendees decided that they were going
672to play Frogger more or less and run
673across the road to try to get to the
674neighboring hotel and they didn't make
675it I was I was in my hotel I was staying
676at the Sheraton which is across the
677street and although we were supposed to
678turn our walkie-talkies in when we were
679done I never did because someone always
680needed me for something so I had my
681walkie-talkie on and I was just
682listening to the chatter when it came
683across and I was like oh and I looked
684out the window and
685I was like oh my god because my room
686looked out onto the highway and it was
687yeah I remember that was bad
688Wow see I I don't think we ever had
689anything that extreme happened when when
690I was working at a Ranger shop I think
691one one year though it was the year the
692year before it was like two years ago I
693remember that I had gone to ask ask one
694of the the um the hotel staff to bring a
695table so that we could put in one of the
696UM one of the panel rooms so the guy is
697he's walking he grew he goes and grabs a
698table he's walking down the hallway and
699then he hits this he hits this uh this
700um he it's a a pipe he hits a pipe over
701overhead as he's carrying the table and
702it's it's a water pipe so just kink and
703Shh and then the water just starts
704coming down and I'm just like I'm just
705like watching this happen but the thing
706is it's the hallway right next to the
707exhibition port so the water starts
708flowing into the exhibition floor
709alright
710so mind you you know people have stuff
711set up that's even on the floor so this
712water starts creeping in and it's a lot
713and you hear people ah gives you
714something off the floor again just off
715the floor and this is right before we
716opened on Friday by the way like like an
717hour right before we're supposed to open
718the doors okay so this waters minute and
719these all these vendors are scrambling
720to get their stuff any stuff that they
721had set up close to the floor or on the
722floor off the floor so it doesn't get
723wet and I'm just like I'm watching you
724know I'm hearing all this go on and I'm
725like you know I leave cuz I'm just like
726oh man I felt responsible because I
727asked him to get that sale it wasn't my
728fault but it was just kind of like you
729know was it was that the year that they
730had the origami vendor no no no no no
731that would have been that would have
732been horrible but yeah i floating swans
733everywhere but i remember yeah that's
734like the extent you know you're telling
735us somebody's been hit by a car and like
736the worst thing that happened was that
737water was going into it it's our
738exhibition on you
739keep going I tell my wheelchair races
740and people hit by cars at your a
741convention I'm just way now
742now we're now I'm really intrigued as to
743what regarding the hell else would I
744over the wheel are we talking standard
745wheelchairs or hover rounds or scooters
746we're talking about here
747electronical chairs what we're talking
748about you know medical we have
749wheelchairs no brakes
750go on wow it's just like I don't have
751anything that good until about the time
752I was just like all these elaborate
753things that should only happen in like a
754jackass move here I was about that
755because when we were kids was it you or
756B that came up with the idea of going
757down the railway not the railway but the
758the the thing in the shopping cart oh
759that I don't know that that I wouldn't
760be surprised
761whichever one of us can you read it oh
762yeah we did a lot of stupid stuff I mean
763I definitely did some dumb stuff but
764that was before cameras internet and
765anything I did at conventions was always
766done in events where it was like
767everybody has to put their phone over
768here no one's allowed to touch their
769phones during these events Marco very

772not too pleased you like supposedly
773someone asked me permission well what
774were you gonna do go up there and yell

776you well it wasn't Nick that asked me it
777was a staffer that supposedly asked the

781no I was thinking it was more like a
782director oh well that would have
783probably been didn't oh my god tall

785back when everybody's getting names time

929never understood how he went from
930director of gaming to owning everything
931that's something I'm not going to talk
932about okay I mean I I know I know I

935know that he I know that he dumped all
936of his personal money into AWA to make
937it solvent again and then the between he
938and Marlin they owned about 51% of AWA
939but like I hate because that came from
940him he told me that and I've got I've
941got the receipts to prove it as they say

943understood how the guy from gaming
944suddenly became the guy that owns AWA
945yeah you don't have to think Marlin for
946that one yeah you know about it because
947I mean I I've seen that happen sometimes
948as you know I've seen it happen with
949with some of the the promoters out over
950here sometimes you know when
951somebody's able to sell themselves well
952enough or they just you know they got
953the money and and the other person is
954just not wanting to do it anymore
955though they you know they just won't
956care they'll take a payday and they'll
957just leave which sucks when that happens
958because I've seen a lot of good
959conventions go downhill because of that
960you know when it's just like oh you're
961gonna offer me how much I guess I might

963and the way that it sounds from you guys
964did it kind of catch you guys off-guard

1024recently and then he said Stan submitted
1025his resignation from AWA he submitted

1030heard that Vic is banned from AWA and

1038vixx I had been Vic's handler quite

1045banned from A to B way and fatal said no

1115doing here and why is he back here back
1116behind the main stage and so I I saw his
1117face then I said hello to him said hello
1118to the guest that I wanted to see one in
1119particular and then and then I lived
1120anyway it came in
1121and it turned out he he had contacted
1122security and so the director and the
1123assistant director went looking for me I
1124can imagine see and Paul do that for
1125sure and that was this year right no no
1126not this year was several years ago yeah
1127okay this year you know I plated look II
1128wasn't causing any trouble wasn't so
1129just a pain just a paying customer
1130coming through just you know or you know
1131just a regular regular attendee this

1133fine I mean well that that's one thing

1135interaction you had online and I was I
1136was curious about it because you know
1137the person the person respected you're
1138speaking to I guess y'all said is a

1235to reach out to phase or by then were

1260through and literally unfriended every
1261single person that was related to the
1262anime convention scene
1263I was friends with on Facebook I send
1264everybody messages people that I'm
1265friends with and our directors and other
1266events or word directors or are working
1267conventions of like hey until this blows
1268over
1269this is my private Facebook where I post
1270how I feel about stuff and I can't have
1271you guys on here because this isn't
1272probably going to be posting some stuff
1273that I don't want spread all over the
1274internet because I'm really really
1275really pissed off about this yeah I
1276could imagine how you know frustrating
1277that would be and not just that I mean
1278again that's also smart move to make
1279because at that point you don't really
1280know who you can trust right I mean I

1305these two are the current owners of AWA
1306right together they own half okay and in
1307Kauai con and anime crossroads when they
1308owned bad and using me con when they
1309owned that they sold anime crossroads
1310and Izumi con they owned all four of
1311them at least you'd controlling shares
1312of all four of them at one point okay
1313so since you were there recently stand
1314what have you I mean obviously you you
1315didn't agree with with these people
1316becoming the owners but what are the
1317most I guess what are the biggest
1318noticeable differences in AWA now I
1319guess as opposed to how it was when I
1320guess it was you know the glory days for
1321when you were there what what are the
1322one of the most like significant
1323differences that you noticed with the
1324changing of the guard
1325well faisal likes to plant the idea that
1326he knows a whole bunch of japanese
1327people a lot of dangerous tree folks and
1328so the the guests line up is his his
1329doing so he invites all those people and
1330he had told me at one time that he likes
1331going going to japan in christmas time
1332because he's a heathen and that that was
1333his words he likes to go going to japan
1334during Christmas time and then he starts
1335like in January after the new year to
1336start working on the guest list
1337so he and Marlon flighted our fly to
1338Japan quite often so sorry not like not
1339it's it's not religious it's just Santa
1340Claus and reindeer and Christmas cakes
1341oh oh he was he wasn't referring when he
1342mentioned it wasn't referring it as dude
1343like how the Japanese do it he was
1344referring to himself even interesting so
1345so this is a guy obviously that you've
1346both had personal interactions with
1347having worked with them in the past I
1348mean where they're obviously saying you
1349didn't trust them I think that's fair to
1350say right at this didn't trust them you
1351didn't you didn't seem like you were
1352very confident in the direction where
1353the show was going with him being at the
1354helm and stuff
1355um but for I guess this would be for you

1357sense like you know this guy this guy's
1358kind of shifty I don't know how they
1359fucked me over as soon as Stan left I
1360had been at with aw at that point for
1361quite some time and when Stan left we
1362lost all of our handlers not not because
1363he took them but because nobody wanted
1364to come back and work with these people
1365only one of our original American guests
1366we have two departments we have a
1367Japanese guest handler Department and an
1368American guest handler Department and
1369none of the American guest handlers
1370except for one and myself came back and
1371then they just when they came in they it
1372was like everything I had done all the
1373time and effort I had put into the
1374convention didn't matter anymore
1375they brought in some woman I had never
1376met which is Natalie to run the
1377convention and her to run guest
1378relations and she micromanage the
1379ever-loving Jesus out of us you know it
1380was just like and she had never been at
1381AWA before so she would tell us to do
1382things and like well that's not that's
1383not logistically feasible at this event
1384and it was just it was horrible and that
1385first year I quit I was like you know
1386what I told them oh I'm not gonna I
1387don't think I'm gonna come back next
1388year and then right before the next show
1389started they were still really
1390short-handed and I was like oh well I
1391kind of want to go to the event and a
1392certain voice actor that I've always
1393wanted to handle finally went and I was
1394like well I'll go if if I was like do
1395you guys still need help I was like I'll
1396come back if you'll let me handle this
1397guest and they're like yeah okay but
1398yeah it was it was I just got treated
1399like garbage despite the fact that I at
1400that time would have had seniority in
1401the department and it was just oh it
1402made me so and it's still it and then
1403and then this stuff happened it was like
1404okay well we're gonna make you an ad
1405next year and then that didn't happen
1406and then the last year I was there after
1407they knew that I was leaving and moving
1408to Japan they made me an official ad but
1409then they're like well we don't provide
1410any kind of I told them I was like I
1411will be willing to take the time off
1412work in Japan to come back and do this
1413as an ad but I would need a little bit
1414of help you know with with hotels or
1415stuff like that and they're just why we
1416don't provide anything like that and
1417only for directors we don't provide any
1418airfare and we provide half of your
1419hotel for directors only and I was like
1420well then why the fuck did you make me
1421an ad you knew I was leaving yeah it's
1422it's almost the exactly take a pic oh oh
1423oh so unfortunate
1424and then yeah all of the original
1425handler staff that was there when Stan
1426was there left you know so I mean it I
1427mean it's pretty obvious how how they I
1428mean when they took over how much they
1429valued seniority it at that point was
1430there it was anybody that was brought in
1431to work with you stand that they were
1432just like hey look this is so-and-so
1433you got to work with them now I know you
1434got you pretty much got out as soon as
1435everything was going on was there ever a
1436time like where they were you know or
1437around that that year basically that the
1438year that you were leaving
1439was there anything beforehand that they
1440tried to do like where they said hey
1441Stan we're bringing somebody to do this
1442that or the other can you work with them
1443or anything like that was there any of
1444that going on and on your end where they
1445tried to basically put you in a position
1446where you were either not comfortable
1447with working with somebody or they were
1448trying to kind of put somebody in your
1449camp that would have not like fit in
1450kind of like what what happened with
1451with Erica there they brought somebody
1452in by a person named Ruby but our I had
1453Ari no I knew her before worked with her
1454before so I know what she was like so
1455that wasn't you know we got along quite
1456well didn't have any problems with that
1457but my main concern was because Faisal
1458was leaning towards more Japanese gas
1459and and also deciding who on the
1460American side was kind of
1461pick I'm like well then what's what's my
1462role can be like you know am I just
1463going to be there just to babysit all
1464his guests you know I don't get to say
1465as to who I mean I pretty much didn't
1466have much hardly and he'd say and guess
1467on that year the last year I was there
1468other than who had or I had already
1469invited the previous year so you were
1470you basically had a title but no real
1471you know they did basically taking the
1472rug out from under you know no real
1473decision that's what would have been the
1474following year okay guys I want to ask
1475you a question here because I'm kind of
1476absorbing the information that you're
1477giving trying to put myself in your
1478shoes and trying to see where we're at
1479with this situation but it seems to me
1480like okay so bagel macfay goal goes
1481ahead and he takes over and he changes
1482out things little by little to kind of
1483surround himself with yes-men and with
1484people that will kind of go with what
1485his vision is and his vision is just
1486elaborately different from what aw8 was
1487originally built on am i am i accurate
1488on that my understanding things
1489correctly yeah all you have to do is
1490look at the guest lineup from this last
1491year to see that it's no longer an anime
1492convention so why go through this
1493elaborate ornate process of stringing
1494people along because that's what I'm
1495kind of understanding from you guys and
1496and just play this game why do it I
1497don't understand what is he gathered
1498well I mean I don't I don't know about
1499stringing along he once told when he
1500once told me I got upset about something
1501and I was like I'm like I don't
1502understand you know I put all this time
1503in and it's like it doesn't mean
1504anything he's like it doesn't mean
1505anything for anyone here because you're
1506all replaceable part
1507ah he told me that in more-or-less those
1508words but especially the words you are
1509replaceable part everyone is replaceable
1510and if you're they're not replaceable
1511then your your running your company
1512wrong is what he told me

1522their way when they when they let some
1523people into their tent and not just that
1524they they start to make a show become
1525more about their own kind of identity
1526and their own kind of character as
1527opposed to what it what's best for it
1528you know they'll they'll start like like
1529what you were saying earlier Erica I've
1530seen that actually happen there's
1531something that I witnessed recently you
1532know in the last couple shows that that
1533that I've been to with some of the
1534promoters is that they start to make the
1535show more about things that they like
1536personally instead of it being about
1537what your audience wants you know I mean
1538like you know what you were saying stand
1539with with them with him being like very
1540him being like well I'm gonna decide who
1541comes to the show you know I mean
1542instead of it being like hey listen I'm
1543thinking about bringing this person to
1544show what do you know like what do you
1545guys think give me some input here do
1546you guys you guys think this is a good
1547this person's a good fit for a show or
1548not but it sounds like he's not doing
1549that at all it sounds like he's just
1550like well I'm gonna do what I want for
1551the show and that's it you know and I'm
1552not gonna worry about anybody else's
1553input you know I'll bring this guy this
1554guy this guy this guy and if people
1555don't like it you know stuff like a
1556hostile takeover is what it sounds like
1557to me I guess for lack of a better way
1558to put it because I've seen that really
1559affect shows because then again it's
1560it's you're no longer it doesn't seem

1588actually doing that maybe is 40 60 maybe
1589less yeah well and they've moved to all
1590this crazy stuff like I kept making some
1591snide comments all this year about all
1592of this extra ticket stuff like it's
1593like first of all the ticket price for
1594AWA is insane they they're getting close
1595to being on par with Dragon Con which is
1596bonkers which is the big convention in
1597Atlanta the most people have heard of if
1598you're in the convention singing yeah
1599and but then there are all of these
1600additional ticket items like if you want
1601to come to this concert it's another $70
1602if you want to come to this event it's
1603another $60 if you want to
1604to this event it's another $40 like
1605there was so many extra ticket in some
1606of the events were the tickets for the
1607one event cost the same amount as the
1608Ford a ticket for AWA yeah it was crazy
1609I just I don't know I guess it's just
1610it's not an anime convention anymore
1611it's a mixed media convention is that is
1612that first a Stan do you dare come any
1613much Wow yeah I mean that I remember we
1614we had to what three bands and there was
1615not an extra ticket price for that well
1616I mean I mean it's everything that
1617happened with some of the the bigger
1618shows some of them not so much but yeah
1619that's another thing I've noticed too is
1620a lot of separate ticketed events within
1621the show which it's not a very I mean
1622it's not a very good incentive unless
1623you just I guess unless you got money to
1624burn like that but I would think
1625especially given you know the the anime
1626crowd which tends to be that kind of you
1627know I would say that it can go up until
1628adult but it's there's a very big you
1629know teen - I would say that that high
1630school to college age levels that's
1631really hitting it hardcore the most and
1632typically in my experience at least from
1633from whenever I've gone as a vendor to
1634anime shows back before I started
1635carrying a lot of anime merchandise
1636those are the shows that I wouldn't do
1637but even if I did have some enemy
1638merchandise depending on what it was
1639those shows were not ones that I really
1640made a lot of money and because they
1641don't have a lot of my kids that go to
1642show don't have a lot because they're
1643either you know you know struggling
1644college students or their high school
1645kids they don't really have much to
1646spend and with so to ask them to spend
1647all this other money you know all this
1648other money on top of the ticket price
1649seems kind of it just doesn't seem like
1650a like a good long-term business model
1651in my opinion so glad you like it be
1652wrong yes so it doesn't seem very
1653sustainable yeah like I'm looking they
1654had that they had pretty much the entire
1655cast of dragon prints this year which I
1656guess that's an animated thing Netflix
1657so yeah but just lots of tons of

1732can't be she couldn't have been a
1733staffer with aw ain't in the amv

1735guys so yeah someone claimed that she
1736was at AWA AME staffer but I did see
1737that she claimed
1738be a named beast after another event and
1739a certain person that we are both
1740acquainted with knows who she is
1741they are acquainted through amb so yeah
1742because this person also you know it
1743that's another thing like I said and we
1744enter we already this is kind of beating
1745that horse here yet I've seen it all
1746before with with people like that and
1747what I there's a certain kind of way
1748that that when they speak publicly about
1749stuff like that
1750it's you kind of know right away that
1751they're full of crap that they're just
1752that they're obviously playing it up
1753like they know more or they're more
1754involved than they actually are it's

1757part of the show this year and this you

1769but even then that doesn't mean that you
1770have any kind of true decision-making

1773but you might still be answering to

1775somebody above you that actually does
1776have some kind of true responsibility to
1777show like the show I worked for for six
1778years I was one of the top three guys
1779you know I mean that had decision-making
1780in that show like for sure you know not

1782actually had you know decision-making
1783responsibilities that would you know
1784have an actual impact on the show so but
1785there was a lot of times where I noticed
1786people again you know they just didn't
1787have that kind of authority but would
1788portray themselves as having some kind
1789of authority even though really and

1793volunteer and so-and-so their shift

1848line there was no downtime there was no
1849time when Vic was sitting at his table
1850with nothing to do and so like he sells

1853know I just I think that it's a mix of
1854those things as that was Stan's guests
1855and the dick had been to AWA a lot and
1856Funimation and all that all of those
1857people know each other
1858a lot of the convention runners like so

1864they the staffers all know each other

1867with them and it's all like one big

1906show every year even if they've already

1908them sometimes they'll still let's look
1909come and pay for another one just like
1910come through autograph line you know
1911every every day of a convention the same
1912people so just to support that person

1915get into the point where and I always
1916say this a lot when it comes to this
1917kind of stuff it's it's not what you can
1918prove in the court of public opinion but
1919what you can prove in the court of law

2012then he got this deal where he was going
2013to be a director at Funimation so he and
2014he was good like he helped her get her
2015apartment when they broke up and some
2016stuff like that or that is old I don't
2017know that a hundred percent and and so
2018he gets us this promise of this
2019director's job so he sells everything
2020moves to Dallas then Michelle finds out
2021that he cheated on her and she looks for
2022uh looks for uh-oh a way to vent her her
2023vengeance on him and vacation then yeah
2024and then that post from hon lingo goes
2025out and she goes haha mm-hmm and she
2026speaks with her good friend miss real I
2027see so for a ten-year-old story none of
2028these stories are recent none of the
2029stories that actually allege any kind of
2030harassment are recent and no no 11 years
2031old years old and almost yeah and the
2032one story the one story from the twins
2033is disputed on the part where they
2034allege the actual you know inappropriate
2035kiss but you know I that's my that's my
2036that's my theory

2038speculation so but is it has it been
2039factually established though that she
2040did not find out until after her and Vic
2041broke

2159to kind of run with that Wow
2160to run with that ran with it and again
2161they didn't see she tagged a story and
2162his name is in the story again why do
2163you know one no one caught on to it is
2164behind me he yep the story the story and
2165everything and it had the guy's name the
2166actual purpose retracted nobody said
2167nothing they just completely ran with it
2168that's what started everything you know
2169and that's where right now and it's just
2170like it actually wasn't yeah it actually

2172having sex with her while she was
2173underage and then they tried to get

2306have to kind of act as as a bit of a
2307handler in those situations as well so

2309selling merchandise whatever had had to
2310kind of do double duty as handler so

2315right they get a panel at your show or

2649i hadn't seen that him the show as big

2651that even at that time it wasn't a small
2652show is already the biggest show that we
2653had here in the state so it's like voice
2654act this is a voice actors line it's
2655like and next to him were like kevin
2656sorbo and like you know you know other
2657people that were you know that you would
2658think for should be should have bigger
2659lines you know there was some people
2660from w either some rustlers that were
2661there and like his line was bigger than
2662like his line was bigger than like
2663there's combined I was just like it was
2664like wrapping around something like this
2665is crazy man it's like yeah it's just a

2667really surprised me and and then you
2668know that that was like that's the one
2669thing that we stuck out to me was just
2670like this that you know from from the
2671beginning then just anytime after that I

2870you know giving a little bit more
2871credibility and it probably did get some
2872people to come out but there's I think
2873there's a big misconception about that
2874where people think that that's oh yeah I
2875got sponsorships I made it now and I
2876don't see it that it really necessarily
2877helps all that wasn't hurt
2878it doesn't hurt but it doesn't it's not
2879like a massively help either yeah I mean
2880they were supposed to provide like a
2881pretty huge chunk of change weren't they
2882like twenty five thousand but you know
2883hopefully you're you're doing what
2884you're doing to pay to help pay the
2885bills or bringing the money to pay the
2886bills yeah but I mean if they are if the
2887option is between
2888you know having 20 having $25,000 of
2889sponsorship money to pay the venue with
2890and then keeping the $25,000 that the
2891convention brings in to reinvest in the
2892convention like it seems like a seems

2896didn't have people outside folks
2897interfering with your show that's true
