About the Water Patent

February 2019 - Gerald Aftem (Aftem Lake Development) is a businessman in North Dakota who owns lake- and river-side property on Lake Sakakawea and the Missouri River. Attached to his land is an extremely unique and massive water patent that spans several rivers and several states in the north midwest and western United States.

The water patent is technically and more informatively a "Riverine Water Ownership," granted under a colonial chartered company and later patented by King Louis XV of France in 1749. This ownership was accepted and is upheld by the United States government under treaty law when the lands and waters therein transferred from French to American rule. The famous American businessman and real estate mogul John Jacob Astor and his American fur company is a predecessor of this same water patent which he made use of within the US.

The ownership extends from Great Falls, Montana to Nebraska and may even be as far south as St. Louis. This would include the Yellowstone River, Little Missouri and Missouri Rivers, the Platte River, the Heart River, and many more.

The Missouri River is the main source of water in the state of North Dakota which the booming oil industry of the state relies on. The state has taken and sold this water, which Mr. Aftem legally owns, to the agricultural and oil sectors as industrial water for a substantial amount of money every year. Mr. Aftem thus seeks an investor to re-assert his authority over the state of North Dakota and potentially other states over his ownership of these waters in a court of law. Mr. Aftem and his lawyers believe they have a very strong case to see this through and are confident that the legality of the patent, as previously upheld in US court, will be re-affirmed. This patent has never been taken in condemnation.

An investor will receive up to 10% of all income from water sold in return for securing funds needed for lawyers and court fees. Any remaining research on the patent necessary will also require funding, though this is largely finished. Mr. Aftem is also seeking an investor who would be willing to run a water company that would be formed after Mr. Aftem's authority is re-established.
