581690: First use of the steam engine in the city of Toledo, which had been conquered by Granada in the Resurgence of 1523, Venice loses the last of it's Balkan holdings to the Turks.

611700-1701: Great Northern War begins, alongside the War of Iberian succession. The United Crowns of Iberia, Holy Roman Empire and England would fight France and the Netherlands to determine whether a Habsburg, or Bourbon would rule Northern Iberia. Meanwhile, the Swedish Empire, Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and Tsardom of Russia would engage in a three way battle as the conflict spreads to Poland as well.
621703: Granadan conquest of the North African coast west of Tunis.
631705: Morocco submits to Granada as a vassal state
641707: Moroccan rebellion crushed by Granadan troops. Morocco annexed.
651708: Formation of the Empire of Al-Qadaf, named in honour of the man who allowed Granada to survive the Granadan War (referred to as Kadath by Europeans)
661711: Al-Qadaf invades the United Crowns of Iberia, turning the War of Iberian succession into a three way conflict.

Danes cede Schelswig-Holstein to the German Empire but gain trade concessions in the Baltic from Russia, Sweden and Germany. Official end of the HRE. Holy Roman Emperor Franz II is restored to the Austrian throne and crowned Franz I of the Austrian Empire. The partition of Poland is renegotiated, with borders swapped, mainly between the Reich and Russia. Concert of Europe established, with the balance of power mainly put on ensuring the strength of states surrounding Germany.

A Scandinavian customs union begins, and talks of Scandinavian unification occur, though little progress is made. Crimean war ends with the Siege of Sevastopol. The Tsardom of Russia begins to be called the Sick Man of Europe due to it's inability to industrialise and adopt the Neo-Steam Engine.

The Oda Shogun agrees, with the Europeans brutally expelled to cries of "REVERE THE EMPEROR, EXPEL THE BARBARIANS". Implementation of Reactionary policies by the Oda Shogunate begins, to great fanfare by the Northern Daimyo.

1231892: A secret engine experiment by American capitalists in New York City end in the Great Disappeareance. New York City and it's population of one and a half million are wiped off the map. Destruction of the New York Stock Exchange sends the North into a Great Depression.
1241893: Plans for conversion of Berlin into an Engine City is delayed due to protests from the constituent states of the German Reich.  Tsar Nicholas II is assassinated.
1251895: The West India Company is established by the British Empire, for no discernable purpose whatsoever. The Italian Monarchy is overthrown by a clique of nationalist army officers after the Great Depression leads to the closing of several major American-based Italian firms.
1261897: Rumours begin to spread of a secret society of revolutionaries within the Darkest Corners of Europe, who hold considerable influence within Europe and are rumoured to havecaused the Great Disappeareance. Assassination of Kaiser Franz-Josef and his son by a Polish terrorist during a state visit to Lwow. Franz Ferdinand is crowned Kaiser Franz Ferdinand I, who promptly announces the reformation of Austria into a Danubian Confederation
1271898: Disagreements break out between the Six Nations Alliance over the question of annexing Japan. Italian and Polish Nationalists attempt to sabotage the formation of the Danubian Confederation. Nikola Tesla discovers how to harness electricity. His ideas are discouraged by Industrialist Thomas Edison in favour of Steam Technology
