Protection From Bitninja
A while ago my vps was suspended by the service provider because one of the websites was blacklisted by bitninja for hotlinks! Long story short, I had to install Bitninja on my server just not to enter their stupid blacklist! The service was free and that was fine until now that they say their free plan is discontinued.
So, what are my options as I have a very small budget to run things.

welcome to how bitninja works.

In my experience, BitNinja isn't particularly of any value. Fix the issue they originally flagged you for, then move on. Don't let them strong arm you into being part of their network. Your visitors don't run BitNinja, only servers do.
WonderProxy can help your team do localization testing from around the globe. With more than 250 locations there's no excuse for not testing your website.
The Where's It Up? API can help multiply your monitoring infrastructure. You can request pings, traceroutes, DNS checks, and HTTP checks from all across the WonderProxy network.

We forward all bitninja abuse reports directly to the trash, they seem to use abuse reports to providers to try and pitch paid products to the provider's customers. We run a no nonsense no abuse allowed network, but bitninja reports have always been questionable at best IMO.

Hi,

A while ago my vps was suspended by the service provider because one of the websites was blacklisted by bitninja for hotlinks! Long story short, I had to install Bitninja on my server just not to enter their stupid blacklist!
Did you verify the hotlinks?

And you do not need to install BitNinja on your server unless you really need it.

BitNinja abuse or any other abuse from data center should always be verified.

And last, you need to make sure your VPS is secured otherwise, you will continue to have problem with your sites.

We have found the Bitninja reports to be extremely hard to trace back to the offending code, but in all cases, it did include hacked files that were scanning other servers for exploits.

While we are technically a Bitninja partner, we do not have a single client using their service. But we have discussed with Bitninja a cleaner format of their reporting, so that it can help find the exact file causing them to generate a report. The only way we have been able to 100% determine the file is to run extensive logging on the server.

It's bitninja themselves who are the abusers!
I continually see them being blocked, for scanning my VPSes. Bastards!
Total waste of bandwidth and server resources.
They should be banned at source.

..was blacklisted by bitninja for hotlinks
Priceless, given their probing.

When I saw the post title, I was hoping someone had a definitive solution, to protect from bitninja - permanently dropping all packets from their numerous IP addresses.

permanently dropping all packets from their numerous IP addresses.
That would be a hard one since....that isn't something assigned to them, it is people using the product, so could be anything anywhere.

Uninstall it and don't look back. If they send you any further reports, investigate if they have any merit but don't bother with their sales pitch. My experience has been their reports are poor at best, so take them with a few grains of salt...

The logs indicate bitninja in the reverse DNS lookup (that's how I spotted it), so unless they also hijack a user's DNS, I don't see how that can be true. If it were an identifiable browser string (eg. baidu) then modsecurity could protect.

Long story shorter: You should change service providers.
Daddy? How was vi born?
Well son, first cat and echo fell in love...

Sometimes bitninja send us a very old logs (several month ago), but mostly they notify that someone using our IP did 5-10 requests to the hidden site. And what?
Let them close the site, since it is forbidden to watch it.

You should definitely find another service provider. Food for thoughts...

Racketeering, often associated with organized crime, is the act of getting involved in a dishonest and fraudulent business dealing or offering a service to solve a problem that wouldn't otherwise exist.
Sounds familiar?

I agree. I do not believe in the way that Bitninja conducts its business. The amount of false reports we receive related to them is astronomical. I also can't help but feel that they have suppressed negative public opinions from being expressed on many outlets. For example, their FaceBook page does not allow visitors to post. They have also disabled the ability to leave them reviews on the FaceBook platform that they are very active on. When someone post a comment on any of their post that is negative, it's quickly deleted. There isn't a way to leave them a review on google as they do not have a google page. The only way to get the full story on them is by searching on google and seeing the many articles related to their false reports and strong arm tactics.

If you cannot afford to use Imunify360, I recommend moving to a shared platform that already includes licenses that could help protect your website from being exploited or harmed. Do not get strong armed into paying for their service as Bitninja is a scam at best.

I read a thread here where Bitninja replied to a user saying their system was much more thorough than Imunify360. Since the thread was over 3 months old I did not want to reply, but Nitninja will never be on the same level as Imunify360 in terms of integrity, reliability, and every other category that exist.

I have found that they send a fake abuse to get attention of their offer. they send abuse to my collocation provider, that my server is doing brute force attack for some wordpress login page, the point is that I register all outgoing traffic, and my server never connected with that website.
