This is the companion text to the "Astrologia Ephemura - Shangrila" found here: https://imgur.com/a/27wYkP5

The Astrologia has been compiled using IC resources, interviews, and discussions with learned parties with regard to the night sky of Shangrila. The stars of the realm are figments of the memories of the souls that have come to inhabit the realm, which is to say there is really nothing there, but "we" expect there to be stars and so therefore there are. Oblivion is a server with nothing written to it unless we write it.

Which brings us to the writing of this text. Long ago it was determined that there were stars in the night sky and that these stars could be grouped into constellations. These constellations are where we get the names for the main ruling houses of the realm. Centaurus, Pegasus, Hydra, Serpens, and Scorpius are our ruling houses. Conversely we have ruling houses therefore we have constellations, ToMAYto - ToMAto. Additionally we have The Temple as the religious body that services Oblivion. Lastly we have several minor entities such as the Oriental Enclave which this book is most closely associated.

What follows is both anchored to canon references: Such as May 25 being the anniversary of the day the Portal was brought back to life. Known as the Breaking of the Sealed Times. Or the Cusp of August and September being the start of the school year, as well as items of interest specific to the Oriental Enclave. In this book you will find a way to roleplay Astrological Prognostication, that is telling the future through Astrology. Conjunctions, squares, occultation's, alignments, celestial positions, birth dates, and of course the Houses are all addressed in the following pages.

Please read at your hearts content, use or don't use, this is presented for your enjoyment as well as reference material for some items that are within our realm but not treated in other formats, like tides, gravity, and geocentricity. This is presented by the the White Ministry of the Oriental Enclave.

The Realm

The realm is a floating object outside of normal scientific constraints. It is difficult to determine if the surface we live on is a sphere, flat, or as most theorize outside of the bounds of normal geometry. What can be observed is night and day, gravity, tides, seasons, and the non-rotational aspect of the stars.

This is to say the constellations appear to be static in their locations in the night sky. This has been observed and recorded by Xu-Wiang Hsu First court astrologer and compiler of the "Fúyóu zhanxing shù" or ephemera astrologia of the realm. This fact is important as it provides us with no "Precession of the Stars" students of Astrology from other worlds might be familiar with the terms "Ages" as in the "Age of Aquarius" An astrological age is a time period in astrologic theology which marks major changes in the development of the inhabitants, particularly relative to culture, society, and politics. There are twelve astrological ages on Earth Prime corresponding to the twelve zodiacal signs in western astrology. One cycle of the twelve astrological ages is completed every 25,860 years.

This is not the case in Eastern or Chinese astrology which has a close relation with our philosophy: There is harmony when heaven, earth, and water are in balance. We use the principles of yin and yang and other concepts which are not found in Western astrology. Our beloved ancestor Xu-Wiang Hsu has taught us the the 8 Celestial truths, the 3 spheres of influence, and the importance of the lunisolar calendar: The calendar of the conjunctions of the moons and of Sol. The time calculation for each year, month, day, and the weight the "shichen" of these calculations along with the insight provided by science and magicks of the realm provide us with a system unique to our beloved realm of Oblivion.

Father Xu-Wiang Hsu's work only spanned three years of study. We do not know why his records end abruptly in year 13 but his ephemera has proven to be a "Rosetta Stone" of sorts in determining the static nature of the heavens above. We can say with certainty due to those three years of data from the very first years of our civilization being in this realm the skies above have not changed from his time.

To make these claims, however, we look to scientific data for support.

==============================================================================

Night and Day:Báitian hé heiyè de xúnhuán.

In a standard model night and day are generated by a rotational globe spinning in space so that a portion of the globe is either facing the sun or facing away from it. Because we can observe that the constellations do not move, or rather our point of view towards the constellations does not shift or move year after year we can theorize that our realm is not heliocentric. Heliocentrism is the astronomical model in which our realm and the moons would revolve around Sol at the center of the Solar System. Due to what we can observe we can more easily explain the nature of our realm as geocentric, which places us at the center. In short we do not revolve around the sun, it and the moons revolve around us. This theory can be found in several volumes on the realm in the various libraries across the realm, particularly the University Library.

This does create a curious effect with regard to the cycle of day and night and may have much further and subtle reaching effects such as a compression of time as well as speeding up of events. This phenomenon is not directly observable from within the realm however as we are all effected equally by the passing of time. Individuals who have travelled outside of the realm on Caravans however have noted upon their return that time has passed by at a different rate. Travelers who have left for a weekend to Miami return to find that they have in fact, within the realm, been gone for a week or more.

Gravity: Zhònglì.
We have gravity therefore the realm must spin, though there are other explanations for this, Oblivion makes it so, but the most obvious is that some basic rules of nature and physics still apply to the realm. Rotation would provide gravity as well as the cycle of day and night báitian hé heiyè de xúnhuán. Spinning also produces several different effects with regard to sun and moon retrogrades. An apparent retrograde motion is when the motion of a heavenly object such as Sol or the Moons appear to be traveling across the sky in a direction opposite to that of other bodies within the system, as observed from our vantage point on the realm. This is very easy to observe with regard to the static backdrop of the night sky though is sometimes not noticed in the motion of Sol during the day as the stars are not present for reference points. Again, using Occam's Razor: Or the law of simplicity. We have multiple different possibilities in a realm guided by religion and Magick so when presented with competing hypotheses that make the same predictions, one should select the solution with the fewest assumptions. Our realm most likely spins perfectly on it's axis which provides gravity as well as a stable point of view towards the observable sky.

Tides: Biaotí.

Tides are influences by both Grande et le Petite Yuèliàng, moons. Wèn yuèliàng, Luna Petite, or more colquially, Xiao or "Tiny" actually has a stronger effect on the tides than does Luna Grande Bianfú Yuèliàng, or the Fat moon, due to the proximity of it's orbit to the realm. When the moons are in alignment, which can be calculated from the ephemera presented in this book, the tides can be exceptionally strong. Babies born in the Oblivion sky when the moons are in conjunction are born under highly auspicious circumstances. Babies born in Oblivion when the moons, and the sun are in conjunction are to be feared and praised. This has only occured once in the history of the realm and subsequent efforts to use standard astrological methods to calculate the next time this event will occur have met with several rather slippery and diverse answers for any one to be seen as credible.

By using this table one can find the highest and lowest tides of the season and calculate the effect of the moons on their crest. June is obviously the month with the highest tides and when Petite et le Grande are in conjunction the tides can be up to 15 greater than average. Very good information for the sea farer or surfer!

Seasons: Jìjié.

Seasons seem to be an addition to the realm from collective expectations. The spin of the realm is perfectly stable, witnessed by the fact the stars, sun, and moons remain on a constant elliptic regardless of day, season, or year. Still we have seasons. One working theory, Lilùn, for this is that nature expects seasons. The flowers, the trees, people and animals all expect a season for bloom, for growing, for rutting gestation and again birth. Much in the same way we expect there to be stars and therefore there are stars seasons are expected by nature in order for the cycles to continue.

This might explain why we seldom get snow or lovely sunny days, but we get rain all the time! Nature isn't certain which season it is in so it compromises and we get sudden afternoon rain showers.

Sol Tàiyáng.

The Solar body of the realm is referred to as Sol, the Sun, Tàiyáng, as well as various other colloquial terms. In the realm of the heavens Sol for us is a Celestial traveler, it revolves around the realm, and with this in mind it is our main guide post for determining effects upon a person born within the realm. It is important to note that travelers who have found themselves in Shangrila do not automatically align with their Shangrila Sun Sign. For some it never happens, for others it is a very quick process, but the sun in Shangrila is not the sun of their origin. Some find this pull difficult to accept. Sol is represented within charts by a Large circle O with a dot in the center.

Sol is a magnifying object, a focus, a lens. When doing a Sun Sign chart for a birth in Shangrila the Sun enhances all the aspects of that chart. As with Western Astrology births are recorded with regard to a Sun Sign. A child born when the sun is in as Minor house is born under the sign of "The Wanderer" and a child born under Oblivion's Sky is said to "Walk the Acolytes Path". All other signs are named after their respective houses. Tàiyáng has the sphere of influence of The Heavens with strong associations with matters of knowledge, religion, Magick, and teaching. A persons primary motivations begin as thoughts and thus this is the ruling aspect.

The fat moon is the larger of the two planetoids, but it orbits further away from the realm so its effects are less pronounced. Bianfú is associated with the male aspect due to its larger size and less influence on matters of the realm, less influence than it thinks it has anyway. Imposing, handsome, jolly are all aspects one associates with Bianfú. For the purposes of a star chart it is always read as the first aspect after Sol. Bianfú has the sphere of influence of Water with strong associations with leadership, guidance, and navigation.

Xiao or "Tiny" is the Enclave name for Luna Petite. It is the smaller of the two planetoids and orbits closer to the realm. As such it has a greater pull on the ocean and objects withint it's influence. Smaller in stature it is most closely associated with the female aspect less imposing and easy to miss, but with a gravity and power over the world that is under estimated. Xiao is most closely associated with the Earth spere of influence with strong associations with Love, the heart, emotions, inspiration, and birth. Xiao is always read after Bianfú Yuèliàng in a reading.

==============================================================================

Orbital Resonance

In celestial mechanics, orbital resonance occurs when orbiting bodies exert regular, periodic gravitational influence on each other, usually because their orbital periods are very closely related in ratio. The physical principle behind orbital resonance is similar in concept to pushing a child on a swing, where the orbit and the swing both have a natural frequency, and the other body doing the "pushing" will act in periodic repetition to have a cumulative effect on the motion.

Orbital resonances greatly enhance the mutual gravitational influence of the bodies, i.e., their ability to alter or constrain each other's orbits. In most cases, this results in an unstable interaction, in which the bodies exchange momentum and shift orbits until the resonance no longer exists, moons crash into moons, crash into planets, or spin off into space etc. Within our realm the system has attained a stable and self-correcting relationship, so that the bodies remain in resonance. Our system is mathematically a 1:2:4 ratio system. For every one time the sun goes around the celestial sphere, a year, Luna Grande goes around two times, and Luna Petite goes around four times. This creates a very stable system, several predictable Occlusions, several predictable Oppositions, several predictable eclipses, and a nearly equal amount of prograde and retrograde each solar year.

==============================================================================

Objects in Retrograde

Retrograde describes the counter orbit of one of the moons with regard to it's observed position the night before. Sol never appears to be in retrograde. All of our celestial objects revolve clockwise around the realm, so retrograde is a counter-clockwise path through the night sky. Sol rotates counterclockwise on its axes where Bianfú and Xiao are stationary in their orbits with no rotation.

For the effects on an Astrological chart when a moon is in retrograde it has the opposite effect normally attributed to the object.

For example:

Sol in Hydra, Bianfú in Minor, and Xiao in Serpens. Would generally represent a person of strong will and dominating personality, concerned with various- at times trivial matters, but has strong feelings when it comes to right and wrong.

Sol in Hydra, Bianfú in retrograde Minor, and Xiao in retrograde Serpens. Would generally be attributed to a person of a large or dominating aspect who is either not concerned at all with trivial matters or possibly only concerned with specific very large matters and is generally amoral or has little compunction with bending or breaking of laws.

The general concept is retrograde motion implies a negative aspect. Though there are modifications to this as well, see Opposition, Occlusion, Conjunction, and Eclipse.

==============================================================================

Objects in Opposition

Objects in Opposition: The alignment of two celestial objects when their longitude differs by 180°. Opposition of the Moons and Constellations is often determined with reference to Sol. For example, Luna Grande is said to be at opposition when Luna Grande and the Sun are aligned on opposite sides of realm. The moons and Sol can be in opposition to each other. Aspects in direct Opposition with each other fight for dominance and it is up to the reader to look deeper into the chart to determine dominate aspects which influence the subject.

Partial Oppositions or Squares:

Squares occur with celestial objects are at 90° to each other. A +90° square (270°) is known as a Magnifying Aspect of the feminine or Xiao. A -90° square (90°) is known as a Magnifying Aspect of the Masculine aspect or Bianfú Yuèliàng.

Squares are particularly important with regard to influence on the subject. One can think of them as the voice in the back of their head nudging them one way or the other. Oppositions are the voices, demons and angels that fight for dominion in a more overt manner. According to father Xu-Wiang Hsu these relationships are what provide us with the 8 great truths. We can see these either as the 8 cardinal and subcardinal directions of the celestial sky or as variations on the the two, good and evil, as with all truths there are degrees of truth, as their is heaven there must be hell, as there is light there must be dark, as there is above there must be below. Yin and Yang are but degrees of each other. These thoughts should be pondered at length by any dedicated student of Father Xu-Wiang Hsu.

==============================================================================

Objects in Conjunction

Objects in Conjunction: the alignment of two celestial objects at the same celestial longitude. Conjunction of either or both of the moons or Sol are determined from the reference point most central to the Celestial Center of the realm, the Oriental Enclave. For example, Luna Grande is said to be in conjunction with and star when viewed from the Celestial Throne one is a top or below the other. This is generally noted on a reading as a Positive + or a Negative - sign attributed to the dominate and conversely subordinate celestial body.

Objects in conjunction magnify the aspects of each other. Attitude, gender, constellation attributes, and Squares are all magnified by conjunctions. In the rare event of an "Conjunction in Opposition" the positive aspects are always read first and the negative or opposition attributes follow.

Objects can be in Perfect, Strong, and Weak alignment. This is calculated as:

Perfect - 0° to <~1° of separation.
Strong - >~1° to <~3° seperation.
Weak - >~3° to <~5° separation.

==============================================================================

The Gender of Objects

Father Xu-Wiang Hsu's has taught us the Eight great truths of which the Principle of Gender embodies the truth that there is Gender manifested in everything that the Masculine and Feminine principles are ever present and active in all phases of phenomena, on each and every plane of life. It is important to note that gender along the true path is very different from sex in the ordinarily accepted use of the term, they are not the same. All things have gender, all things fall not along a linear line of more or less female, more or less male, but as a smattering of points as many and varied as the stars in the nights sky.

The word gender comes to us from Xìngbié, or a place of creation, a place where generation occurs "to beget". A moment's consideration will show you that the word has a much broader and more general meaning than the term "Sex," the latter referring to the physical distinctions between male and female living things. Sex is merely a manifestation of Gender on a certain plane of the Great Physical Plane- the plane of organic life. We wish to impress this distinction upon your minds, for the reason that certain writers, who are of small minds, have sought to identify this truth with wild and fanciful, and often reprehensible, base, and obscene, theories and teachings regarding Sex.

With regard to the reading gender should always be thought of with regard to the energies presented to the celestial event. If Luna Petite appears higher in the sky over a Centuarian star it could represent a dominate female in the house of knowledge if no other aspects in the sky would confound this reading with opposition or square.

==============================================================================

The Houses of the Realm.

It is important to note that the Houses do not start at 0° of the night sky. It is not known why this is, but the Sun and the Moons came to us from Oblivion and as such the Prime is 160°.

It is not known if the stars came before the Houses or if the Houses formed and through this consolidation we were able to find in the heavens the Constellations that gave our houses their names. It has been argued, convincingly, by both sides of this debate- but still to no resolution. What is clear is that we have stars. If they are there because we wished them or expect them is, curiously, of little concern. They are there, and they tell us things if we learn how to listen to them.

Father Xu-Wiang Hsu's first writes of "The Flying Horse" Fei ma in his tretise on, Tiankong zhong yìshù de héngxing de benzhí, or "The nature of the stars that are beautiful in our skies." From Pegasus to the Minor houses he teaches us of the eight celestial truths can be seen in the night sky each house is a path, each path is a direction, each direction is a truth. These truths combined with the three spheres of influence form not who we are, but how we are acted upon.

Do not think that knowing the truths and the influences that aspect your path mean that you know who you are! These are the thoughts of a child which does not bask in the wisdom that nature, the ground, the rocks, the roots of the trees that grow up in front of us- all simply guide the path the the rain takes on it's journey to the sea. It is the water, the substance, the body which cuts the path through the world on its journey. Knowing this brings one closer to understanding the insight provided from a reading.

There are Eight Houses in the night Sky. There are eight truths, Each must find their own path, their own road to truth and the Houses provide the trail if only one looks deeply enough.

The hoofs of Centaurus do not break the solar ecliptic. It is considered, aloof, prominent, most closely associated with matters of the mind, knowledge, forward looking. Centaurus has two major celestial events. "The Heart" is the single star in the center of the large constellation which is bright and lone in the night sky. The conjunction of "The Heart" and "Luna Petite" marks the start of the realms school year. The second event is known as "Hoof, heart, and head" it is most closely associated with competition either of the academic or physical nature. Often a conjunction with Luna Grande occurs around Homecoming, the Moisson de Regal, and harvest. This House is found at 258°:309° from the prime Western meridian.

Pegasus: Fei ma.

The most difficult to recognize as its aspect lies 120° counter to the solar ecliptic. It has one aspect, the wing tip, which breaks the the solar ecliptic, dipping low on the night sky. The wing tip comes very close to the ecliptic of Luna Grande and is partially occluded by the moon for two days out of every 33. Pegasus is most closely associated with material wealth, acquisitions, finances, loss of wealth, provisions, as well as prosperity. Pegasus has one well know celestial event, but the single events spans nearly a month. The "Arc of Missing" is sometimes jokingly refered to "Riches to Rags" and is a non-fortuitous time of the year to make business deals. This area of sky has ten (10) stars in it that are all approximately ~1° out of conjunction, this series of 'just misses' have movies, songs, and several tragic accidents and near misses attributed to it.

Hydra, like it's name sake, dominates its section of the sky. Easily the most recognizable of the constellations it looks like a many armed or many headed dragon. Hydra breaks the solar ecliptic with two of its aspects which allows for occultation during certain periods of the month. The two prominent conjunctions in Hydra are called Master and Mistress formally and colloquially as "Cradle and Grave" owning the the Houses strong bind to those born in this house. The Master conjunction is found at +7 and is the first Conjunction in the house. As with all conjunctions it represents a strong or dominate aspect of the sign. Also known as "Cradle" in this aspect the conjunction is more closely associated with Slaves of this house. The Mistress conjunction is found at +42, has the same effects as the Master conjunction- but is more strongly associated with health, condition, and death. Also known as the "Grave" conjunction it is traditionally the only exit from the house for Slaves.

The brightest constellation in the night sky. The average magnitude of the stars are nearly double that of any other constellation. Four aspects of the constellation, known as "The Head of the Snake" break the solar ecliptic giving it great strength with regard to the realms of man. Most closely associated with entertainment, leisure, carnal desires, and debauchery this association with power over the flesh seems very apropos. Serpens has one Major celestial event. A conjunction with Serpens 8 is known as "The Window" It is a period of the yearly cycle when the Sun, or either, rarely both, even more rarely all three appear centered in "The Window" this is a very rare event happening only twice a year for single aspects, once every 53 years for dual aspect, and once every one hundred years for a full aspect. Father Xu-Wiang Hsu's has taught us that during the period of "The Window" the most accurate readings of the night sky can be made. It is an exceptional time of the year for citizens of the Celestial throne to have a readings done by your local astrologer. Do not however put trust during these times in other forms of reading. A tarot reader, medium, scrier, or other source of prognostication during the window will yield less that optimal results due to the strength of this single celestial event. Father Xu-Wiang Hsu's has said: "The sky is clear, focused, and the reading will be percise during the window."

Minor Houses: Jihu méiyou guanxin de fángzi. Also "Di zhongxìng" - Low Caste

The Minor Houses of Shangrila are numerous and diverse. The Oriental Enclave falls within this group, the Mages Guild, Performers Guild, The Fighters Guild, and various other factions of good standing- and some not so good.

Each one of these minor houses still exert sway on the realm and the readings of denizens of the realm.

This House is found at 102°:254° from the prime Western meridian.

Of note there are two grand Conjunctions in the Minor Houses sky.

The Oriental Enclave, first to have mapped the night skies, noted the movements, and solidified prognostication through the application of Father Xu-Wiang Hsu's eight truths and three spheres of influence. He has told us in his writing, Ba gè zhenli - san gè lingyù, that when first the sky was formed there were no stars, no moons, no sun and all was chaos. Since Dr. Laurent Sorbonne established the Société de Shangrila and transversed from his realm into the one we know and live in the stars coalesced, the moons took on orbits, and the sun awoke to create our realm. There is no time line available for how quickly this occurred and there is no record from Dr. Sorbonne, but Father Xu-Wiang Hsu's truths are observable as is our night sky. If this is to be believed then the formation know as the Celestial Precession: Tianti suìcha, can most certainly be attributed to Father Xu-Wiang Hsu himself.

The Celestial Precession: Tianti suìcha, is the rarest of all conjunctions in the night sky. There are five stars that can all be seen in direct line with one and other as they have been since the first recorded texts on their appearance by Father Xu-Wiang Hsu. This conjunction is as follows:

Yellow -A moderate M class star yellow in color.
Red -A Red Giant.
White - A very hot and bright White Dwarf.
Blue - Blue Subdwarf (sdB) "Blue Giant".
Black -Minor Black Hole.

While these stars remain in constant alignment the magnitude of the stars has been variable since the first writings when it can be inferred that the Red Giant was the brightest object in the alignment. Currently of this writing the M Class Yellow sun appears to outshine them all. A second grand conjunction of the Minor sky is known as The Mages Precession: Fashi suìcha

The Mages Precession: Fashi suìcha can be seen near the very edge of the Oblivion Sky with three distinct stars that each align with the slippery stars of Oblivion sky. They are:

The White -A white very hot and bright White Dwarf.
The Grey -Nebulae Saragosa. A milky section of the night sky.
The Black -A smaller Black Hole bordering on Oblivion Sky.

The Mage's Precession lies before and with stars in opposition to the Oblivion sky. The path of the mage and the path of the Acolyte are within 4° of each other in the night sky making them as closely related as any paths in the heavens.

Oblivion's Sky: Méishénme heidòng.

Méishénme heidòng is a large section of the night sky bordered by six bright, but difficult to see stars. Inside 'the obliviated sky' there appear to be no stars at all. The area is approximately one eighth of the night sky. The best way to see Oblivion's sky is to find this dark area and un-focus ones eyes to try and see the bordering stars, again they are bright, but the light seems to slip away from the eye if concentrated on. It is also good to note that not everyone can see the Oblivion's Sky. This is one aspect of the night sky that makes everything we think we know simply theory. It has been demonstrated that some denizens of the realm see this area filled with the standard back-drop of the night sky. There are many theories for this, but much in the same way that the stars themselves might not actually be present in the night sky the lack of stars might also simply be an illusion of the mind presented individually for every soul trapped within the realm. These mysteries are best pondered in solitude as Father Xu-Wiang Hsu's has proposed, "The superior man does not enforce what is truth, but asks oneself what it is that they believe." For the Enclave the stars have been a persistent companion since the birth of the realm, for you, please reach down deeply into your being and find what you believe.

Méishénme heidòng is the celestial representation of oblivion. When the moons pass in front of this section of sky every 24 and 33 days respectively they almost appear to dissolve into the space behind them. This is a very powerful time of the month for all magicks and rituals.

The path of the Acolyte is a conjunction between the northern most two stars of the méishénme heidòng and one or both of the moons. The Acolyte path is a very auspicious time for clergy of the temple to be born. Consider genders in alignment and without objects in opposition or at angles, as the lack of modification to this celestial event strengthen the aspect.

Oblivion Cross is the conjunction between the center most stars in méishénme heidòng and one or more of the moons. This conjunction occurs and coincides with the date of the major temple days of celebration.

The only house to have aspects, two, which break the lunar ecliptic's and are still bright enough to see. The realms "North star" is in an interesting location for those from Earth Prime as is sits extremely low on the horizon. Because of this it get occluded several times a year. The "Stingers Tip" or "The Bite" is sometimes used by sea faring folks to navigate when the north star is occluded by either Luna Grande or Luna Petite. "Navigating by the Bite" has several songs and cultural references which warn of the peril of traveling by direction or down courses you know to be incorrect. Háo wú yìyì de xiwàng yinyuè, The song of forlorn hope, is a tradition festival song about two married women who have fallen in love which references their 'navigation by the Stingers Bite though the song implies the listener must consider which path for them is the true incorrect path.

Scorpius is comprised of 12 stars, stretching a wide swath of the night sky, but all the stars are fairly faint and difficult to see at night from within the city, even with a good telescope and a high vantage point the light pollution make this constellation best observed far from the city, or of course, from on the water.

The Reading Overview

When doing a reading there are only two critical points of information required. The individuals name and date of birth. The name is for your registry. The birth date is required for the ephemera.

Always record the name of the individual you are doing the reading for in your log book. This will help you with personal correlations at later dates. People have just as much effect on other people as do the Sun and Moons. In fact they can have more effect if they are close, powerful, an enemy, or a lover. It's very important for the Astrologer to record this information.

Birthdate. (OOC: Have the individual give you the output of:

think ctime(me) It will be like: Wed Mar 12 20:25:00.876024 2014

Take this value and put it through OOC-IC time convertion

+time/oocic mar 12 20:25:00 2014 IC date: Tue Jun 27 13:14:14 176

Now you know the date and time of the individuals birth you can start to do the calculations to determine the location of the celestial objects at the time of birth.

Daily readings.

This can also be done for a daily reading and is much easier as all you need is the current IC date . Please see Calculations to determine celestial object heavenly locations.

==============================================================================

The Reading Calculations

As far as we can tell Sol, Luna Grande, and Luna Petite all began their journey across the heavens at the same time. Sol is always placed in the birth month and on the birth day for calculations. This is where Sol was on the day of birth. The positions of the moons must be generated by winding a large orrery backwards to the date of birth, or much more simply, though it is involved, through the application of mathematics. Our starting point is the year 160.

We have very few records before then, during the sealed times, and there are very few denizens of Shangrila left who pre-date this time. Of course there could be thousands of them in hiding, somewhere, but they are unknown to us.

In order to calculate the positions of the Sun and Moons on the day of birth we use the following calculations.

A note on 160° and 160 years. The year 160 has been chosen for obvious reasons, but also not so obvious ones. The Conjunction of the Oblivion Cross is at 160° in the night sky which is coincidental but also appropriate for ease of the following calculations. See Calculations II

Title: Chapter 25 - The Reading - Calculations II Author: Bittersweet
==============================================================================

The Reading Calculations II

The first step is to calculate the gross number of degrees° the moons have shifted since year 160. This provides us a large number which we will then reduce by steps to provide us with degrees° of movement in the birth year. For our example the individuals birth year is 176.

Years since 160
160-176 = 16 years

So for 16 years the moons have travelled their heavenly path around Shangrila. We know from observations how many degrees the moons move on a daily basis, so we need to calculate the yearly movement into days.

16 years is 16*365=5840 days.

Now that we have the days we can calculate the gross degrees° that the moons have moved. The constants here are:

Luna Grande moves 3.65° a day taking exactly 100 days to cross the heavens.
Luna Petite moves 4.70° a day crossing the heavens in about 77 days.

Knowing number of days and degrees° per day we can calculate the total degrees° of movement since birth.

5840 days * 3.65° for Luna Grande = 21,316° degrees of movement since year 160.
5840 days * 4.70° for Luna Petite = 27,448° degrees of movement since year 160.

If we now divide this gross number by the amount of degrees° in a full circle (360°) we will get the amount of revolutions the Moons have made around Shangrila from year 160 to the individuals date of birth. For our example this will yeild:

21,316° divided by 360° means Luna Grande has gone around 59.211111 times since 160. For both numbers round to the third decimal .211
27,448° divided by 360° means Luna Petite has gone around 76.244444 times since 160. The important portion here is the .244

The .211 and the .244 are percentages of a full revolution around Shangrila and provide us with our last derivative calculation. Very good we are almost done!

Multiplying 360° degrees by .211 for Luna Grande.
This will provide how many degrees the moon has shifted forward since year 160.
Luna Grande in this case 75.96 (76°) degrees forward from the year 160. 160°+76°=236°

Multiplying 360° degrees by .244 for Luna Petite.
Provides how many degrees the moon has shifted forward since year 160.
Luna Petite in this case 87.82 (88°) degrees forward from 160. 160°+88°=248°

Luna Petite is at 248° Degrees
Luna Grande is at 236° Degrees

As with all works there may be changes and errata to follow. This final paragraph will be kept updated for external links, afterwords, and comments. This is a final finished draft and may change shortly so I will be fairly OOC in this. the entire system is workable, that is not to say it is 100 flawless. Some of the locations for the Star-Chart are not precise to the Star-Map, the math might be off or totally wrong, what I do know is that in the current format it is workable and takes into account all Canon references I could find. As this matures more will be added, taken away, modified. I ask only that if you use this and you find something the matter with it, let me know. I can fix things I know about.

A note on use of this. If you don't like it, don't use it. If you like it use it. If you can do better please do. It is just for reference and isn't meant to dictate to a reality that is "purposefully ambiguous" it is meant to add to that world and provide a framework that people can use if they desire nad toss out if they have no use for it or disagree with it. For me in the role of Astrologer to the Oriental Enclave I will be using this reference and I will reference it in my role-play. I hope you like it and enjoy it's use. Thank you very much for reading this far! Anna &.c Player.
