1 A World to Come
2
3Story Text
4
5An untold number of years following the Great Fall of Irdya – an event set in motion by the hubris and power of the magicians of post Golden Age Wesnoth – the death of the last great sage of the desertlands (Fhearad by name) and the destruction of the Isle of Alduin by an unknown entity plunged the world into a chasm of uncertainty.
6Without a sage to teach in the in the mystical arts, without an academy or student body to learn, the art of magery was dead.
7Now lacking the blessing of pure magic, and the curse of the dark arts, the Great Continent was suspended in limbo.
8
9Even the elves, imbued with Ancient Elvish mysticism, began to lose their connection with the Faerie Nature.
10
11The Dwarves gradually forsook runesmithing for a second time …
12
13The Drakes slowly became extinct …
14
15With the absence of magic, men began to search for an alternative .. something solid … something more dependable than magic could ever be. And as the diligent men and women toiled day and night in search of an answer, a small tribe of dwarves also seeking a new meaning to life joined in their study. And after decades of what seemed like pointless research, they discovered what they were looking for … the secrets of the world and life itself and the proverbial looking glass with which it could be sought out … science.
16
17Perhaps it was a merely stroke of luck or maybe even the hand of destiny, but in the centuries to come much was discovered about their world and what lay beyond it. The most shocking and horrifying of these discoveries was the fact that the mountain raised into the sky by the magi of the distant past was on a collision course with the planet Irdya on which they stood.
18
19With no more than 15 years before the world as they knew it would be entirely obliterated, the team of scientists determined that the only way to continue what was left of their civilization was to leave their beloved planet forever.
20
21With skill and brilliance that the group never knew they had, they crafted a vessel that was (in theory) capable of escaping Irdya's gravitational pull and traveling through deep space at speeds never before imagined to be possible.
22
23One of the humans, a man by the name of Parson son of MacIntyre, united the scattered peoples of the barren wastelands and (after convincing them that what they had unearthed was actually true) lead them in an attempt to find a new life. He even tried to persuade the elves of the desert to join them, but they were not convinced that they were in any danger and rudely dismissed MacIntyre.
24
25With much reluctance, the humans of Irdya followed the man and crowded onto the intimidating vehicle with the dwarves and a handful of orcish drudges they used for labor.
26
273 days before the burning chunk of rock slammed into Irdya, destroying it forever, the craft took flight. Despite concerns as to whether it would make escape velocity, the vessel soared into deep space.
28
29But, alas, their troubles did not end there …
30
31First, the dwarves that accompanied them had a falling out with the men under the command of Parson MacIntyre. The former abandoned the latter, leaving them and their orc slaves with a mere safety pod to shield them from the miserable conditions of deep space.
32
33But just before they could run out of food and fuel, Parson steered the pod into the orbit of a large green planet. After several hours in orbit, the pod crash-landed on the surface. Parson lead his people out of the damaged pod and into the strange new land which he named Terra.
34
35Over the next 50 years, the Terran People began to embrace their new habitat and multiplied rapidly. Unfortunately, the goblin drudges began to multiply at an even faster rate. And soon they began to breed full-blood orcs who, adhering to their nature, terrorized the people and killed their children. This forced MacIntyre to banish them to a nearby Dust Giant called Planet Zor.
36
37But even there they multiplied exponentially, gradually learned the skills necessary for space travel and warfare, and raided the planet Terra constantly over the next century.
38
39After a long and honorable reign (prolonged by the benefits of improved medical technology) Parson, High Chief of the Terran People, died and passed his responsibilities to his son, and he to his.
40
41It is with the grandson of the Chief that our story truly begins …
42
43Parson MacIntyre III ruled his people more sternly and callously than his father and grandfather before him. And peace would never be a present during his reign. Added to the regular threat from the Orcs of Zor, there was the daunting task of keeping order among his people on a day to day basis as they grew more an more numerous. Rebellions became common. The danger reached it's climax when a dirty reprobate attempted to assassinate him in his sleep. Having had enough, Parson ordered his army to wipe him and his lineage out completely.
44
45The army stormed into his residence, slew the rebel and searched for his sons. The 3 eldest were dealt with in the same manner. But the fourth was merely an infant. Parson ordered his soldiers to spare the child and brought him to his own home, renaming him Alexander Stormwaal. Given the fact that Parson was never wed, he took on the responsibilities of raising the child himself, teaching him in great detail about tactics and strategy, and the art of war, as this was all he knew. Other elders were concerned about the kid since he was taught nothing that strayed far from how to fight and why, but the High Chief rejected all of their suggestions to train him in other ways. This coupled with Parson's refusal to talk about Alex's history led to a strained and less than ideal relationship between the two, though deep down they loved and cared for each other.
46
47Well, the boy became a man, and one of the Chief's most reliable commanders in the never-ending battle with the Orcs of Zor.
48

50
51 Scenario 1: Battle of Zor
52
53
54Introductory Dialogue
55
56Dr. Grease Jordan: The satellite just landed and the results have come in. It's a positive, sir.
57Alexander Stormwaal: Move.
58
59Call the Chief, tell him I need to speak with him.
60
61Silence
62
63NOW!!!
64Dr. Faro Dolan: Uh, yes sir … exits
65Alex: Grease, put the fleet on stand-by, I want to take a shot at this.
66Grease: Roger that. exits
67Parson MacIntyre III: What's the verdict
68Alex: It's a positive, Chief Planet Zor's core is unstable. The dirty orcs are drilling a quantum regulator into the mantle. Satellite 12 picked up images of their science fair project from the exosphere of the planet. If we can get to the regulator, we can trigger an electromagnetic discharge, the planet will collapse, and we crush the orcish rabble once and for all.
69Parson: It's an interesting solution, but we're doing this on my terms, not yours.
70Alex: With all due respect, Chief, that regulator will reach Zor's core in 2 days. Now is the best time to strike if you want to protect your people in the long run.
71Faro: He's right, Chief.
72Parson: Shut up, Faro.
73Faro: Yeah, I'll just … go ...
74
75Alex:Listen, Chief, the men of our old home had many chances to eliminate the orcish threat, but always hesitated. We are still paying for their folly today. Let that not be said of us. It's now or never.
76Parson: Of course you knew that's what I meant by my terms right? No time like the present. Let's go.
77
78Parson: Captain Capricornus Alcor! Report to landing bay! Captain Capricornus Alcor!
79April Allen-Ester (Cadet 2nd Class): Hail, Chief!
80Parson: You're not Captain Alcor, unless he got a major face lift …
81April: Oh, no no no. I'm April Allen-Ester, his personal assistant.
82Parson: Do I look like I need his assistant???
83
84Silence
85
86Parson: Well? Ring him up!
87April: Uh, right. *through comm link* Captain Alcor to Pad 5! Captain Alcor to Pad 5!
88Capricornus Alcor: I'm right here, April …
89Alex: Fire up the Cruisers. The Scouts. Everything. Get the transport ready on Pad 9 and set course for planet Zor.
90Capricornus: Roger that.
91April: Captain, I completed my flight training last week. I would like your permission to follow you into battle.
92Capricornus: No, you're staying here to manage the flight decks.
93April: But –
94Capricornus: That's the end of it. *into comm link* Captain Alcor to all points: all pads are a go! I repeat, all pads are a go!
95Parson: Ales, you're with me. Let's recruit some troops and send them to the loading docks. Alcor will prepare or escort while the transport ships head for Zor. Remember, our transport ships have a sickbay so if our units get wounded we can –
96Alex: “Beam them up for treatment,†yeah I know. This isn't my first rodeo.
97Parson: While that may be true, this is your first time on the saddle of a dragon, so listen carefully to everything I tell you.
98
99Recruit Fighters
100Parson: Fighters are the mainstay of our space force. Strong in both short and long ranged combat, Terran Fighter ships combine speed and durability like no other craft, making them some of the most dangerous machines in the sector.
101
102Recruit Scouts
103Parson: Scout ships are a versatile ad important part of our fleet. Their targeting system allows a pilot to lock onto an enemy before it gets a chance to attack. Scout ships are the fastest ones we have as yet. Take care not to lose too many, as their speed and agility can change the course of a battle.
104
105Recruit Cruisers
106Parson: Cruisers are heavy attack ships that fill the “tank†role in a fleet. While considerably slow, their Disruptor Ray can completely disintegrate enemy space crafts. Cruisers are best used in the front lines of a formation with Fighters to absorb damage that would likely destroy a ship like a scout or a servicer. They can also greatly disable targets for weaker vessels so that they can score the killing shot.
107
108Recruit Servicers
109Parson: Servicers support the fleet by repairing damaged ships. While not built for fighting, Servicers carry electric power grapples that disable any enemy that gets in their way. Servicers are weak vessels and should be protected by fighters and cruisers at all times. That said, the slightest advantage of in the condition of the fleet can mean the difference between victory and defeat.
110
111Recruit 3 Officers
112Parson: And that's just about all of the officers we have under our command.
113Alex: We seriously need to send out some more recruitments for that position.
114Parson: True, but for now, let's work with what we have available.
115
116Turn 5
117Parson: Don't forget to create new settlements on nearby planets. They won't be this close in orbit for long and we could use their resources. We may also retreat to one of them if necessary. But keep an eye out for hostile aliens.
118
119Capricornus Alcor Moves
120Parson: Captain Alcor pilots the Antila, our flagship. The Antila is an important historical artifact, as well as a powerful guardship. We must be careful not to lose her, as the morale of our pilots will go down with it.
121
122The flagship has top notch comms installments that allow Alcor (our greatest pilot) to give combat advice to other pilots, making them fight better.
123
124See Astro Orc Ships
125Unit: There they are!
126Capricornus: Formations! Protect all the transport ships!
127Parson: The Orcs of Zor have a pretty good fleet themselves, though they use different tactics. Be careful and don't delay. Now that they've spotted us, we have a small window of opportunity.
128
129AstroOrc Serpent Attacks
130Parson: These “Serpent†ships are the Zorian's scout ships. They shouldn't give us too much trouble. Unless they resort to ramming tactics …
131
132AstroOrc Serpent Attacks
133Parson: That's the Zorian Gunship. While quite efficient in short ranged combat, they are no match for our fighters in long range warfare.
134
135AstroOrc Blackguard Attacks
136Alex: That must be the Zorian Blackguard
137Parson: Right on, Alex. A note of caution: this is probably the only thing they can throw at us that will give us some trouble. They are very hard to destroy or even damage as the Orcs have a mechanism onboard that automatically repairs it if damaged. The large cannons, called “Behemoths†by the Terran people, are impressively deadly.
138
1393 Terran Ships are Destroyed
140Parson: Captain Alcor, status report.
141Capricornus: Yeah, we're getting beat up pretty bad here, over.
142Parson: Maybe this calls for strategic withdrawal …
143Alex: No. We're heading straight for Zor.
144Parson: Who died and made you High Chief?
145Alex: With a brainless strategy like that, one would think you were dead.
146Capricornus: Well, in case you haven't noticed, stormhead, for every one enemy we destroy, two more come from it's remains!
147Alex: Do I have to say again that we only have so long until the Zorians finish their science fair project? If they succeed, we can't blow up the planet's core, and we would have to suffer another hundred or so years of fighting these orcs that harass us like fruit flies! Is that the legacy you want to leave for your children? Failure
148Parson: I'm not sure how much better our legacy would be if we died today.
149Capricornus: Hold on, guys. I'm receiving a signal from a fleet entering our vicinity …
150April: 35th Fighter Squadron reporting for duty.
151Capricornus: What the – April?!?
152April: *sarcastic* Aww, Captain, you look so disappointed to see me. I'm hurt.
153Capricornus: I told you to stay put!
154April: OK. I'll just go now. You don't look like you need my help anyway. Have fun getting your tail fins handed to you.
155Alex: Hmm, she's got a point …
156
157With the 35th Squad flanking our attack and backing us up, we'll be able to cut through their surprisingly tough defenses, blow the regulator, and be back home in time for dinner.
158Capricornus: But this girl disobeyed my orders! She's not even qualified to fly that thing!
159April: Ugh, men and their short attention spans. You don't remember when I told you that I completed my flight training?
160Alex: There's a lot more at steak than your ego, Captain. We'll deal with her later. We need to focus on our mission.
161Capricornus: Yes, sir.
162Parson: What do you mean “yes, sir I'm in charge here! You answer to me, not him!
163
164But he does have a point …
165
166Fine, we're going for it, but don't look at me for consolation if we get killed.
167April: Do you boys ever admit that you're wrong?
168Alex: Shut up and move it … Lieutenant.
169Capricornus: Lieutenant???
170April: Lieutenant?
171Alex: One more word and you're washed back to trainee.
172April: Right.
173Alex: Was that a word?
174April: …
175
176No …
177
178Zor is Sighted
179
180Capricornus: Closing in on our target, folks,
181Parson Lands on Zor First
182
183Parson: I made it. You coming, Alex?
184
185Alex Lands on Zor First
186
187Alex: Beam down successful. You coming, Chief?
188
189Both Land on Zor
190
191Parson: Alright, we're here.
192April: Ugh! From the images I got from Sat 7, the orcs forgot their spring cleaning last year.
193Parson: I've set up the Quasar Teleporter. We can now recruit soldiers straight from Terra in case the ones we brought with us aren't enough. We'll only be able to recruit them one at a time, though.
194Alex: OK, laddies and gentlemen, let's make this quick. Get to the quantum regulator, set off the discharge, and get everyone off the planet before it goes all Myth Busters. And look out for what I assume will be tight defenses
195Parson: Captain Alcor, you and April keep the fleet on standby and the transport ships as close as possible so that we can make a quick getaway. We may not need the fighters again, but have them patrol, just in case.
196
197Braineaters Sighted
198
199Parson: Careful. Those may just be what the AstroOrcs call “petsâ€, but they were on Nat Geo Wild's top 10 deadliest list.
200
201Move Farther
202
203Unit: Is it just me, or does it seem like the security here differs from that of the satellite images?
204Alex: You're right. The capital was much better defended than this …
205
206Apart from a few guards and a dozen braineaters, this place is empty. Something's not right …
207
208Regulator Sighted
209
210Parson: There it is. We've almost completed the most important mission of our lives. I can taste the victory already.
211
212Parson Moves to Regulator
213
214Parson: Haha! We've done it! I never doubted you, Alex.
215Alex: *scoffs* Yeah, right. Let's just blow the thing.
216Parson: Right. Here goes.
217
218Delay
219
220Parson: What's this? Impossible!
221Alex: What's the problem, Chief?
222Parson: The Regulator! It's already reached the core! Now it's completely stable!
223Alex: No! It can't be! Now all is lost!
224Unit: Why can't we just set off the discharge now? It shouldn't matter, right?
225Parson: But the core's stability will neutralize the blast and the planet will simply revert to equilibrium. There is no way to defeat them now! This was a total waste. I knew this would be a disaster!!!
226Orc: You're right about that, puny human!
227Alex: It's an ambush!
228Orc: Take them out, boys! The Volt's not paying us for squattin'!
229Parson: There is no time for contemplation. We gotta get back to the transport ships NOW!!!
230Alex: Roger that. Protect the High Chief at all costs soldiers … and preferably me too. This is a code 10 mission abort!
231
232Parson Makes it to Transport Ships First
233
234Parson: Come on, Alex! I'm not leaving without you!
235
236Alex Makes it to Transport Ships First
237
238Alex: Get the Chief on board, now!
239
240Both Make it
241
242Parson: Launch!
243
244Orcs Pursue Terrans with Fighter Ships of Their Own
245
246Alex: They're in hot pursuit! Step on it!!!
247Parson: Captain, get the fleet back in formation. We need some support here! April, back him up.
248Capricornus: The Antila will protect you, sir. Nothing can stand in her way!
249
250Time Over
251
252Alex: We're too late!
253
254Victory
255
256Alex: We made it!
257Parson: This is nothing to celebrate, as we have lost many faithful soldiers. This mission is a failure It will take a while to recuperate after this. Set up the defenses, we have a lot of work to do …
258
259
260 Scenario 2: The Hacker (talk only)
261
262
263Story Text
264
265It was a crushing defeat indeed. But the urbanity of Terra, oblivious to the outcome of the mission presumed that the return of their High Chief indicated a victory. However, their hopeful gazes were met with lowered heads and shameful eyes. The reception festivities were canceled and many a rumor about the cause of the fiasco spread like wildfire.
266
267Regardless, High Chief MacIntyre III knew that their time for reflecting on their mistakes was limited. He and his most trusted researchers set to work, digging deeper to find out what exactly went wrong …
268
269Introductory Dialogue
270
271Grease: Sir, I think I may have found the problem. But trust me, you won't like this at all …
272Parson: Whatcha got?
273Grease: Sat 12 was hacked. The images were planted. The workers, the unfinished regulator – everything was a hoax.
274Parson: You can't be serious!
275Grease: Computers don't lie. The Zorians somehow managed to finish the project before our satellite was even launched.
276Alex: No way in a black hole could they have done it that fast! They may be 23rd century descendants, but they're still stupid brutes.
277Faro: The samples from the rock that you had me analyze tell a different tale, Commander. The core was stabilized 2 months ago.
278Parson: That's not what we need to focus on. The real problem is finding out just who in this galaxy is smart enough to pull off a hack like that?
279Grease: The Zorians don't even know which side of the ship has the engine.
280Alex: But no one else I can think of makes sense. Who would do something like that for the orcs? It's not even Christmas yet! Could it be an insider?
281Parson: In my opinion the only reasonable explanation is …
282
283Pull up the recording of the ambush!
284Faro: Yes, sir.
285Parson (in recording): I knew this would be a disaster!
286Alex: You could stop right there and I'd be totally happy. That face is priceless!
287Parson: Just play the thing …
288Faro: *hits play*
289Orc (in recording): You're right about that, puny human! Take them out, boys! The Volt's not paying us for squattin'!
290Alex: What's the Volt?
291Parson: No, it can't be …
292Alex: What's wrong?
293Parson: *into comms* I want all flight pads 5-9 mobilized immediately! Begin pre-launch procedures ASAP. April Allen-Ester, notify Captain Alcor! All infantry units report to the Big Dipper Compound!
294Alex: Wait! I need to know what's going on!
295Parson: There is no time to explain! Get to the Compound now. That is an order!
296Alex: I am not moving one inch until you explain who this guy is!
297Parson: *sigh* I had hoped you would never have to know about this …
298
299Voltimand Stingger is the son of a particular rebel I apprehended 15 years ago. His name was Korram Stingger. The uprising he kindled was among the most difficult for me to snuff out.
300
301After the news got to his son that he died in prison 2 years ago, Voltimand swore revenge on me, my family, and all of my closest supporters. For the first year and a half we were on high alert, walking on eggshells and taking caution not to lose sight of him for too long. But when nothing happened, we dismissed his rant as presumptuous ambition. I fear that was his plan all along. Now we have 2 fights on our hands.
302Alex: Anything on his rap sheet?
303Parson: Nothing. He pretty much a ghost. Stays off the records. Never makes a mistake. He's extremely hard to track.
304Alex: How old did you say he was?
305Parson: I didn't, but if you're so curious … we do now that he's no older than 30 years old.
306Alex: *shocked* That's kinda young to be Terra's Greatest Enemy.
307Parson: But what he lacks in age he more than makes up for in genius Voltimand is one of the 3 most brilliant minds in the galaxy. Possibly the smartest computer whiz this world has ever seen. I mean, the kid's brainiac smart.
308Alex: Good, let's knock a few IQ points out of his head.
309Parson: Agreed, but let us be very cautious.
310
311So let's sort out our findings: the sat images were fakes, which means Voltimand expected us to think the orcs were still toiling away at the regulator. The only way they could've reached the core of the planet with such speed was if … Voltimand and his gang lent their assistance. But he still wanted us to invade Zor.
312Alex: Then he set up the ambush. So the “deal†that the Orc mentioned was help with the regulator in exchange for your assassination.
313Parson: *ahem* Our assassination. Anyway, the only reason he'd go through all that would be to present himself clean before the populace. This is clearly a coup attempt. We must act now.
314Alex: But if this Voltimand is as you describe, how will we find him?
315Grease: If I may interrupt, sirs, I may have an idea.
316Parson: Fire away.
317Grease: I discovered some Astralnet traffic coming from both of our moons, Pavo and Fornax. I had to dig deep to detect it, but something's up there using our resources. One can only guess …
318Parson: It's a start. Let us investigate.
319Faro: With all due respect, sir, I suggest that you sit this one out. We almost lost you today. I know that must have been scary for you, but have you thought about how horrifying it was for us? If one projectile had gone the wrong way … our whole colony would've gone down the proverbial toilet.
320Grease: *looks quizzically*
321Faro: Proverbial.
322Parson: What do you suggest?
323Faro: Maybe send a few scouts to make certain that the coast is clear. Preferably from space before trying to to make landfall on either of the moons. Our personnel hasn't set foot on them in months and who knows how many satellites the Volt's hacked?
324Alex: He's got a point, Chief. And we don't need to mobilize the whole fleet. Just a squad or two should do.
325Parson: Aye. And between us, maybe one of our greener, somewhat expendable lieutenants and his/her squadron should be all that is necessary One in particular comes to mind …
326Alex: April???
327Faro: The hot one?
328Parson: Exactly. After all, she's still in violation of Terran Martial Code, Section 15, Clause 3.
329Alex: But she did it for a good reason, Chief. If it weren't for her, we'd be dead and yet you want to send her on a suicide mission???
330Parson: No one ever said it was a suicide mission. We can call it recon.
331Alex: Call it what you want, it's wrong and you know it. I'm not going through with it!
332Capricornus: Neither am I, but for a different reason.
333Parson: Morning, Captain.
334Capricornus: Hail, Chief. Listen, even after what happened last week, I feel a sense of responsibility for all of my units. I see this as a learning opportunity for April and if she does well (though I seriously doubt that she will) we could consider a pardon. However, she can't go alone. I need to be there every step of the way to make sure nothing funny is going on. Call it paranoia, but I just don't trust her.
335
336Besides, you won't have to worry about me, the Antila is indestructible
337Parson: *fatigued sigh* Fine. Whatever. Just make it quick. We have a hacker to hack and I need some time to mull over a strategy.
338
339
340 Scenario 3: Operation Safeguard
341
342
343Story Text
344
345April and Capricornus were ordered at once to complete the recon mission to the moons Pavo and Fornax. This would be an event that would change both of their lives forever …
346
347
348Introductory Dialogue
349Capricornus: Remember what we've discussed, April. This is a recon mission. We're just here to scout the area around Pavo and Fornax. No combat force is permitted until I give the command
350April: Yes, Captain.
351
352Probes Sighted
353April: Hey, look! A service probe
354Capricornus: Hundreds of them! I've never seen so many in one place before!
355
356This is obviously not the work of the Terran People. These probes belong to those renegades!
357April: And look closer, I bet those appendages could be used to break into our satellites' processors
358Capricornus: That's … exactly what I was thinking.
359April: They don't seem heavily guarded. Let's knock 'em out!
360Capricornus: I'm the one giving orders around here … yeah, let's knock them our.
361
362In fact I propose a little wager. Since you are at this time in violation of Terran Martial Code, Section 15, Clause 3, you must prove your worth to stay in the fleet.
363April: Yes?
364Capricornus: So my deal is this: if you somehow manage to outperform me and my squadron in this operation, maybe we can talk to the chief about a pardon. If you don't … oh well …
365April: Can I say no?
366Capricornus:Since I am in command, no you may not. Unless of course, you want 2 infractions of Terran Martial Code.
367April: Alright, I got it.
368
369See Patrol 1
370April: Look out! Enemy patrol heading our way!
371
372See Patrol 2
373Capricornus: Another wave of pirates!
374
375See Patrol 3
376April: Patrol 3 has entered our range. Brace yourselves!
377
378Kill x number of Probes
379April: Almost done!
380
3812 Turns B4 Crash
382April: Captain,, my control systems aren't responding very well …
383Capricornus: That's … no good. But, uh, keep fighting.
384
385Crash (turn ?)
386April: Systems failing! All controls are jammed! Weapon systems, targeting – everything! Switching to backup power.
387Capricornus: No! Put the ship in autopilot! Let it run until the systems return to normal.
388April: No way am I letting this thing fly me! I'm taking control of the hydraulics.
389Unit: Mt control systems are down, too!
390Unit 2: So are mine!
391Capricornus: 35th squadron, listen carefully. The auto pilot should perform just fine under these circumstances. DO NOT assume control of the hydraulics!
392April: Captain, I know this thing like the back of my hand. I know what to do in this situation and I can't risk blowing myself out of orbit. I'm going for it ..
393Capricornus: That'll mean two infractions of Martial Code, but we'll deal with this later. Just remember our mission!
394
395Time Over
396Capricornus: We're too late!
397
398Victory
399April: We've done it! All probes are down, Chief. The coast is now clear.
400
401If Side 1 has more Kills
402April: And check out the combat report, Captain. This little Antila got paved!
403Capricornus: Impossible! No way you could've out preformed my troops with systems failure! I demand a rematch!
404Parson: *over comm link* There's no time for that, Captain. Return to base and ready the escort. We're gonna en this rebellion once and for all.
405Capricornus: But how do you expect to pardon the girl when she clearly went against my orders twice
406Parson: You wanna know how? Like this: Lieutenant April Allen-Ester you are granted a pardon for your alleged crimes and are free to continue service in our fleet without further punishment.
407April: Sincere thanks, Chief.
408Capricornus: MALIGNITY!!!!
409
410If Side 3 had More Kills
411Capricornus:Well, it looks like I bested you just as I expected. I guess that's the way the celestial body collapses …
412

414 Scenario 4: Double Trouble
415
416Story Text
417
418While April concerned herself with piloting her greatly impaired ship back to safety, Parson and Alexander were mulling over a strategy to take down the rebellious Voltimand Stingger.

422Into Dialogue
423
424Grease: Chief, look at this.
425Parson: Not now, Jordan, I'm mulling.
426Grease: It's important, sir. The Volt just released a video on his social networking page.
427Parson: Play it.
428Voltimand (in recording): Greetings, chief. I know you're watching this, so I'll cut right to the chase. I am incredibly amused that you believe it is in your power to annihilate the universe's greatest mind. But that's the idea.
429Parson: What's the date?
430Grease: Just yesterday, sir.
431Voltimand (in recording): You see, I am no stranger to the fact that the two of us have more arrogance and ambition than our sky has stars. Meaning that even if you knew that I was using you, you would still carry on with your so-called quest for justice until you have vanquished the entire Stingger bloodline. But it will not be so.
432
433I will take your life, your dictatorship, your people. I will establish a new republic of Terra and the citizens will look up to my as their savior. I will lead them to a new home!!!
434
435but I digress. First, I invite you to tea.. by now you've probably figured out that I am indeed on one of Terra's moons – all you need to do is find out which one. Then you may make your pitiful attempt at killing my to save your little monarchy. So I'll see you on Pavo, my enemy. Or maybe Fornax – augh, you'll figure it out as you always do. Anyway, your funeral service stars at 5:00 sharp. Don't be late.
436
437I'm waiting … (recording ends)
438Parson: That's it?
439
440Grease: Yes, sir.
441Parson: Well, what are we waiting for?
442Alex: You do know he's playing us, right father?
443Parson: I don't care what his guy says. I'd rather die fighting for truth and justice than run and hide from a scrawny coward with a vendetta.
444Alex: True, but if I must die, I would want to die knowing that the safety and security of my people was certain.
445Faro: You know my motto is “never say die†right?
446Parson/Alex: Shut up, Faro!
447Faro: Yeah, I'll just, go …
448Parson: If you feel that way Alex, then I hope you are ready to take on the responsibilities of being the leader of this colony.
449Alex: But you won't die, father.
450Parson: *scoffs* Does it look like I have any intention on dying? I just need you to promise me that in the if fate shall have it, you will lead my army to crush this rebellion and restore order to the Terran government.
451Alex: I .. I promise.
452Parson: Well then, let us ready the infantry.
453Grease: Uh, chief, I have a petition to make.
454Parson: Make it quick.
455Grease: I wanted to ask that Dr. Dolan and I join you in the fight.
456Parson: Don't be silly, Jordan. We need soldiers on the battlefield, not pencil-pushers.
457Grease: Let me explain. Dr. Dolan and I have been toying with an experiment for a few months and we wanted to test it's effectiveness in combat.
458
459You see, we built a device that mimics the strong gravitational pull of celestial bodies. Like our Great Star Talembus. But we compacted it to fit in the palm of a user's hand.
460Parson: What exactly does it do?
461Grease: In theory, it will allow a user to pull a meteor out of low orbit and drop it right onto your desired target.
462
463Mind you, this is only the prototype, so there are some limitations, namely the size of said meteorite. Also, when preforming the numerous tests with other scientists, I noticed that the accuracy of the attack averaged out at around 70%. the other 30% of the chunks of rock just burned up in Terra's atmosphere. But think of the tactical advantages we could have with such a weapon against well defended enemies and bunkers. This is a game changer!
464Parson: You let me decide that. It's an interesting idea … and I'm beginning to think that Faro Dolan may just be an intelligent life form after all.
465
466I approve. I want your gravitation devices handed out to every soldier in the ranks.
467Grease: Forgive me, chief, but I'm afraid only a level 12 intellect can operate the weapon with any skill. But my colleges and I are well qualified. I suggest forming a special scientist unit to support your army.
468Parson: Scientists going to battle … how strange. Very well, I will do so at once.
469Narrator: You may now recruit scientists!
470Alex: April, notify Captain Alcor
471April: Yep, I just texted him. He should be on his way. In the mean time, I'll get the escort ready.
472Alex: Is she allowed to do that?
473Parson: *shrugs* Let's recruit our troops.
474
475Turn 3
476
477Alex: Wait, April, I thought you said your ship was wrecked!
478April: Yeah, I just swapped it out for this new one.
479Alex: Is she allowed to do that?
480Parson: *sigh* I wouldn't worry about that right now, Alex.
481
482Turn 7
483
484Parson: April, are you sure you sent that message?
485April: Absolutely He should've been here by now …
486Parson: *into comm link* Chief MacIntyre to Captain Alcor. Come in Cap'n.
487Narrator: Static.
488Parson: Captain Capricornus Alcor, report to flight deck 5, over.
489Narrator: Static.
490Parson: Cap'n, get your rear exhaust pipes over here now!!! That is an order, over!
491Narrator: Static.
492Parson: This is just great. No Alcor, no Antila. Can this get any worse?
493
494Unit Reaches Moon
495Unit: I have made landfall on Pavo/Fornax. It looks a lot less desolate than I imagined.
496Parson: Let's find us a hacker.
497
498Hacker Compound Sighted
499Alex: I'm no hacker, but if I was to chose a place to do my dirty work, it would be here.
500Parson: I remember this architecture was used for one of the major fugitive compounds I raided once. He should be in there. Get ready.
501
502Voltimand Sighted
503Voltimand: Ah, so you made it past my security. Impressive, though it will do you little good in the long run. Slay them!
504
505Voltimand Attacks
506Voltimand: Argh, I have to do everything myself!
507
508Parson Attacks Voltimand
509Voltimand: You are highly privileged to be graced with my presence, Parson MacIntyre. Bow down and. And pay your respects to the leader of the Terran Revolution!
510Parson: I bow to no man. But I've got something else for you!
511
512Voltimand is Killed 1st time
513Voltimand: *laughter* Will your stupidity ever have an end? That was merely a hologram of me that you were fighting. The real me is on the other moon knuckleheads! Though I doubt you will get passed my defenses now that I've studied your fighting pattern. Terra will be mine!
514
515Voltimand is Killed 2nd time
516Unit: I guess this is goodbye, rebel. Send me a postcard from the Afterworld.
517Voltimand: No!
518Parson: Stop! I've got something better planned for him. Bring him to me.
519
520You know, Stingger, killing a young, brilliant mind like you would be a total waste. And taking your life right here and now (as much as I want to) is not enough of a punishment to fit your crimes. You have at least 80 years ahead of you. I intend to make you suffer through every second of them.
521Voltimand: You know good and well that no jail can hold me.
522Parson: Oh, I'm not going to jail you. I'm gonna have you strapped to an observation table and have my researchers virtually probe your brain and pick every last bit of the data that you've amassed over the years and store it in my supercomputer.
523
524Then, when you are of no use to me, or anyone else, I may just grant you the honor of serving as a human shield for me in battle.
525
526You will be an example to any man, woman, child, or pet that tries to usurp the authority of the High Chief Parson MacIntyre! Take him!
527April: A little harsh, huh chief?
528Parson: Humpf. He should be happy. I was originally gonna trans-mutate him into an arboreal orangutan. Let's go home.
529
530
531 Scenario 5: Hubris (talk only)
532
533Story Text
534
535Alexander Stormwaal left the compound with a victorious bounce in his step. He believed that since they had apprehended the criminal that the final campaign against the Zorians looked possible and that his people were taking giant leaps toward intergalactic peace. But fate has a way of crushing even the most reasonable of fantasies … there was far more drama to come than Alex could ever expect.

537Intro Dialogue
538
539Parson: Take Voltimand to the lab.
540Grease: Yes, sir.
541Capricornus: Uh, Chief, I need to speak with you.
542Parson: Just where did you run off to Alcor? We needed you out there!
543
544Let me rephrase that: we needed you up until the point where April took charge.
545Capricornus: Yes, uh that is exactly what I need to discuss with you. You see –
546April: *panting* Chief! I need to speak with you!
547Alex: What's going on here?
548Parson: Believe me, as soon as I find out, I'll let you know!
549Capricornus: *glares at April* Well, in case you haven't noticed, sir, one of our lieutenants has not been following protocol …
550April: Chief, it's important!
551Parson: One at a time!
552Silence
553Parson: Thank you. April?
554April: The 35th squadron's control systems were sabotaged!
555Alex: Sabotaged?
556Parson: Voltimand Stingger's doing I presume.
557
558April: No, sir. Capricornus Alcor's doing!
559Capricornus: Raving Falsehood!
560Parson: That is a serious accusation, young lady. Tell me you have some substantial evidence to back it up.
561Capricornus: Chief, why are you entertaining such thoughts? You know me! I would never sabotage my own ships!
562April: As a matter of fact I do,sir. For example, only my squad was affected That suggests –
563Capricornus: That could only mean that the Volt was targeting you and your biased paranoia is making you believe I tried to kill you.
564Parson: April, don't waste your time …
565April: That's not all, sir. Mr. Alcor got sloppy. I found small traces of DNA on the dashboard of my ship that matches his perfectly.
566Capricornus: Don't pay any attention to her, Chief. She's just trying to distract us. Doing a pretty good job of it, too, I can't help but notice.
567April: Then you wouldn't mind if I showed him the match?
568Capricornus: I forbid you to continue this charade!
569April: No, I promise it'll only take a few minutes. Yo, Dr. Dolan! Get over here!
570April: I anticipated that. And, yeah, I'm over here.
571Capricornus: You wretched –
572Alex: Guards, take him!
573Capricornus: No! I didn't do it! I swear!
574Faro: Someone call me?
575April: Do a cross-check for any matches on this sample of DNA.
576Faro: These belong to a Capricornus Dredo Alcor. Is .. is there a problem?
577Parson: You bet there is!
578Alex: Caught red-handed, Capri. What do you have to say for yourself?
579Capricornus: You were rewarding her for every time she rebelled against me orders! What then of our strict social order?!? if this goes on, our precious Martial Code will have no weight!
580Alex: Don't play with me, Alcor. One last time: what was your reason for sabotaging April's squadron?
581Capricornus: I had no choice! I would be the laughing stock of the century if I lost my position to a woman!
582Alex: That's what I thought.
583Capricornus: Don't kill me, please!
584Parson: Kill you? Not at all. You're going to join the Volt for a little sleepover. I've always wanted a ship that could fly itself.
585April: *grins*
586Capricornus: NOOOOO!!!! You priss! I oughta – aaaaaaaah!
587Alex: Uh, Chief, without our captain, who will pilot the Antila? She has to be put to use in out final campaign against the Orcs of Zor for us to win.
588Parson: This is true. We should send out applications pronto.
589Faro: Hey, Chief, what about April herself?
590Parson: *gives him a hard stare*
591Faro: I know, I know, “Shut up, Faro!
592Alex: Actually, I thinks he's got the right idea. She's obviously a talented pilot. And from what I've heard, she knows the mechanics of flight front and back. I see no one more fit for the role.
593Parson: But one must be of Captain ranks or greater to operate this kind of machine.
594Alex: I see nothing wrong with a second promotion.
595Parson: Hmmm.
596
597How do you think Captain April Allen-Ester sounds young lady?
598April: *shocked* I … I don't have the words …Thank you, sir. I never dreamed of something like this happening to me.
599Alex: Well, it's time to start dreaming bigger, April.
600Parson: Congratulations, you are now the mightiest woman in the galaxy!
601April: *welling tears*
602Parson: Now now, enough of that, girl. We must hold your official promotion ceremony. Follow me.
603Later
604Alex: Why aren't you partying with the rest of us?
605Parson: I was trying to get some mulling done, mind you. There is no time to waste. I have my best strategists working on a new plan to vanquish the orcish threat. Out new, unhacked satellites are –
606Alex: Sir, did you hear that?
607Noise
608Kaon: Hearken unto the Prophet of the Epochs, men of the past.
609Alex: Um, chief? Are you both seeing and hearing what I am?
610Parson: I'm not sure … gimme a moment.
611Kaon: Hearken unto the Prophet of the Epochs!
612Parson: Yep, I think it's registering in my head now …
613Kaon: HEARKEN UNTO THE PROPHET OF THE EPOCHS!!!
614Parson: That's like, three times you said that. That is, if I am not hallucinating. I knew I shouldn't have drank that third glass …
615Alex: Who are you and what do you want?
616Kaon: I am Kaon, Prophet of the Epochs!
617Alex: Yeah, I think we both got that one …
618Kaon: I have come from a parallel world far into your future and have come to warn you.
619Parson: Warn us about what?
620Kaon: Peer into my eyes, men of the past. See the things that are to come. Your choices will shape your world.
621Fade to Black

623 Scenario 6: Timeline
624
625Story Text
626
627Your great star, Talembus, gives life and happiness to all who see it's light. Besides those menaces you call “orcsâ€, and the rebels, you have not a care. In juxtaposition with other worlds, the one you call home is of the more peaceful. You have lead your people with strength and courage in hopes of leaving a bright future for your seed.
628
629But the future that you see is far from that of reality …
630
631a darkness is coming. A darkness that has been brewing for millennia, light-years away. One that wishes to swallow any glint of light that exists in the universe. I have walked down the corridors of time and seen your future, men of Terra. The Vendeeni will destroy your world, and everything you hold dear. Your only hope is to abandon this sector and flee for your lives or the Vendeeni will show no mercy. They will devour Talembus and feed off of any life in it's proximity.
632
633But alas, I give you hope. I will give you the light of a bright blue celestial body as a beacon. Follow it to your new home.
634
635You must now choose your fate, humans. Destiny is in your hands.
636
637
638Parson: *claps with fervor* Bravo! Bravo! Such an entertaining performance! Win a prize! The largest load of baloney I have ever heard in my life! You actually expect me to take you at your word? You're basically a stranger to us and you are telling us to just pack our bags and leave our lives here – just like that – for some pie in the sky?!
639Kaon: Not for delicious pastry in the atmosphere – though I do possess quite a penchant for such victuals – for your survival. And to preserve the time/space continuum between our worlds.
640Parson: Well, here's something for you to chew on, tough guy, we ain't goin' nowhere! We have a war to fight with the Orcs and if we run for the hills at the command of some self-proclaimed prophet, the orcs will take over Terra forever. I can't and won't let that happen to our beloved planet. Find some other world to haunt!
641Kaon: You do not understand, human. Your very existence is at steak. Fate can neither be avoided, not altered. It is the one constant in this universe.
642Parson: Last I checked, bacon was the only constant …
643Kaon: The others told me that you were trouble, MacIntyre – a catalyst of the inevitable apocalypse and a threat to the parallel worlds. If you choose not to heed my words, I will be forced to make you leave in order to preserve the time/space continuum that so delicately separates our realities.
644Parson: I'd like to see you try. Guards!
645Kaon: You leave me no choice …
646
647Kaon Reverses Time (1st time)
648Alex: Did … did he just reverse time???
649Parson: Well, I do feel a bit younger.
650Alex: Most of his power seems to be coming from that thing over there.
651Grease: That is a portable chrono modulator. If we can deactivate it, he won't be able to bend the fabric of time itself – which, in case you were unaware, would be a tremendous advantage for us. But only a trained specialist like me will even know what to do with the thing, let alone power it down.
652
653Scientist Reaches Modulator
654Scientist: Got it. Powering down …
655Kaon: NO!!! what have you done?!
656
657Kill Kaon
658Kaon: You fight well, humans, but fate shall have her way. You will perish as do all who oppose her.
659
660But if you are wise and you change your ways, the blue orb will be there. I must be going …
661Alex: Wait!
662
663Kaon disappears
664
665Alex: Well, that was all too weird.
666Parson: We must've been drunk. No way that thing was real.
667
668Anyway, let's put that hallucination behind us. We have a strategy to mull over. *determined* Let's mull.
669
670 Scenario 7: Unsteady
671
672Story Text
673
674For the next 10 days, the Terran military devised a new plan of action. It required most of the gurus of science to pull off, so the “operation†on Voltimand and Capricornus were postponed. Grease and his colleges discovered that the orcs had organized themselves into a more unified tribe under three tribal leaders to negotiate with Voltimand Stingger. Soon enough, the three tribal leaders gained so much power and responsibility that their society became dependent on their leadership. It turned out that the tribal leaders were holding a meeting that week to discuss … whatever it is that orcs discuss over some celery soda spiked with a little mayonnaise flavored vodka.
675
676
677With a new plan to defeat the Zorians conceived, the army began to prepare for what they expected to be the last battle against the orcs of Zor. Little did they know the magnitude of irony in their great expectations …
678
679Intro Dialogue
680
681Parson: Just like we've discussed, men. We're gonna crash their little sleepover party. It will be extremely dangerous so, um farewell to some of ya …
682
683Parson: OK, let's do it. Oh, and Alex?
684Alex: Yes, sir?
685Parson: You're in charge anywhere beyond Terra's atmosphere this time. I'm staying on the surface with a few soldiers to protect our citizens and to make certain that if the orcs or anything else is dumb enough to attempt an invasion, they will be met with force. One of my technicians detected unusual activity in our vicinity, so I want to be prepared for anything.
686Alex: Got it.
687
688Captain Allen-Ester, make sure the Antila remains in mint condition.
689April: Yes, sir. She's ready to lead this escort.
690
691See 1st Vendeeni Ship
692April: Unidentified craft entering our space. I repeat, unidentified craft entering our space.
693Alex: Hmm, try to make contact.
694April: *into comm link* Unidentified craft, you have entered Terran domain. Please state your case and explain why you are here.
695Voice: SSSHHHHAAAAAAA!!!!!
696April: Just static, sir.
697Alex: It's a threat until proven otherwise. Take it down.
698
699Land on Zor
700Alex: Their security is pretty tight as is expected for a “top secret†orc boss conference Looks like we'll need quite a force to get to all of 'em.
701
702Turn 8 (?)
703Parson: Ungh …
704Alex: Chief? Are you alright?
705Parson: I'm … fine. Keep some transport ships nearby, just in case.
706
707See More Vendeeni
708April: More mystery ships, sir. This may be an invasion.
709Alex: This can't be good. But if the orcs are as dumb as we know them to be, they'll probably clear out a few of them for us.
710
711Vendeeni Transport Ships are Spotted
712Unit: Wait, those are transport ships! Heading straight for Terra!
713Alex: Destroy them at all costs! We can't have them harming our citizens!
714
715Vendeeni Land on Surface
716Parson: They made it to the surface. My backup team should make quick work of these … wait, what in a black hole are these things?
717Alex: Sat 4, take an image.
718Satellite: *snap*
719Alex: We can ask our scientists to study them once we've won this battle.
720
721More Vendeeni Appear
722April: Even more invaders! This is a full-scale fleet of them!
723Parson: We may need to utilize one of my favorite tactics … STRATEGIC WITHDRAWL!!!
724Alex: I begin to agree with you, sir.
725
726Kill All Orc Leaders
727April: We did it!
728Parson: I never thought I'd see the day when they'd be destroyed forever, but now we're one step closer.
729Alex: Well, that one fight off our hands. So how do we deal with these mysterious invaders?
730
731Turn ???
732A giant shadowy “mouth†eats the star
733Alex: What just happened?!?!
734Parson: NOOO! NOOOO! The visions!!!!
735Alex: Father? What's the matter?
736Parson: Kaon! His words were true! My pride has blinded me, and now our people will perish at the hand of fate!!!
737Alex: No! There must be a way!
738Grease: Sir, the star is collapsing! We have to get everyone out of the range of its ensuing supernova. It's gonna blow and destroy everything in it's radius!
739April: *hysterical* What are we going to do?
740Alex: Now is not the time to panic, people! Let's work together to get every human being off the planets and into transport ships now!
741Grease: But we only have 45 minutes!
742Parson: Aaaaugh! Help! I'm feeling weak!
743Alex: *alarmed* Then now's the time to PANIC!!!

749Unit: NOOOOO!!!
750
751All Heroes Survive
752Alex: We have cheated fate once again, but at a great cost.
753Parson: *wheezes* Ugh … Someone help …
754Alex: Get him to the sickbay, fast!
755Hive Queen: Run, humans. We shall meet again …
756
757
758
759The attendants and nurses rushed the High Chief to the sick bay, but alas, they were too late. Parson MacIntyre, leader of the Terran People, was dying of unknown causes.
760
761In his last moments with the Chief, Alexander Stormwaal noticed that his father's DNA signature was nothing like the one that he knew to be his own. When the dying leader saw his confused expression, he began to tell him the truth about his origins …
762
763In labored breaths, the Chief told Alexander about his real father, Artemis Stingger, brother of Korey Stingger. He told him of his killing of Artemis in retaliation of his assassination attempt and how he spared the youngest child in Artemis' household, a little infant named Solomon Stingger, and took him in as his own son.
764
765With tears in his eyes, Parson explained that Voltimand was his cousin, and that he tried to keep him a secret to Alex so that he would never know. He then warned Alex not to make the same mistakes he made, regarding his pride and hubris.
766
767And finally, he apologized to Alex for stealing his childhood and never being a real father to him. With that, the Chief's life left him.
768
769When Alex asked what had killed him, the doctors could only guess that it was the radiation from the blast, but in his heart, Alexander suspected that Parson himself was the very soul of Terra, and that when it died, he died with it. The Terran people held a short funeral for the Chief, and, without any place to bury him, cast his body out into deep space.
770
771After the service, Alexander confined himself to his chamber for days, not willing to face his people or the now impossibly daunting task of finding a new home for them. But one day, a particularly bold Terran worked up the courage to try and speak with him.

776Intro Dialogue
777
778*knock knock*
779Alex: Go away!
780April: Mr. Stormwaal, it's important.
781Alex: Yeah? As important as the fact that I'm not even sure if I should be mourning my own father?! I am not even certain I can even call him that!
782April: Sir, we all know that the Chief made some mistakes …
783Alex: What would you qualify as “some†huh? Robbing me of the chance to ever know my actual father? Lying to me about how my mother died after I was born? Treating his subjects like puppy chow? Should I go on?!?!?
784April: Uh, can I come in? It's hard talking to you through this door.
785Alex: Whatever. But as you can see, I'm trying to preserve my dignity here!
786April: He was a good man, Alex. Even underneath the apparent callousness and brutality. But I feel like those characteristics were necessary for our colony's survival, difficult as it may be for you to believe.
787
788When he was tough, we became tougher. His strength was our strength. We wouldn't be here today if it weren't for his leadership.
789Alex: Leadership??? He tried to convince me that you were expendable! What kind of leader does that to his people?!
790April: I'm pretty sure he didn't mean it …
791Alex: Yeah, right. Considering that all the man ever knew how to do was fight, I beg to differ. The most important thing to him was his father's book of war strategies. He said he would rescue it from a burning building in the place of anyone he knew, he told me. And do you know why? Because war was all he cared about. It was his life. And he expected the same from me. It's all he ever taught me how to do in this life.
792
793He never taught me how to ask for help. He never taught me how to treat people with respect. He never even taught me how to love!
794April: He taught you how to lead, Alex. And that's what your people need from you right now more than anything else. Do you really want to let them down? If you can't do it for your father, do it for the rest of us.
795Alex: I suppose you just may be right about at least half of what you said – ugh, see? I can't even express sentiment!
796April: *laughs* Now, that I'll agree with.
797Delay
798Alex: Wait, what are you doing here? And where's the Antila?
799April: She's in autopilot I finally figured out how to use that service.
800
801Anyway, what I came in here to tell you was that our scouts spotted a bright blue celestial object to the east, or whatever it is that you call it in deep space … but not like a normal blue star kind of blue. The really creepy bright glowing blue that seems to ebb and flow as if it were a heart beating.
802Alex: It's Kaon …
803April: Who?
804Alex: I'll explain later. Tell all the ships to set their course in that direction. That's where we may find our new home. That is, if all of what Kaon said was true …
805April: Fingers crossed, then.

808 Scenario 9: The Final Frontier
809
810Story Text
811
812The small band of refugees – the remainder of what had once been called the Great Terran Colony – journeyed for months in the direction of the blue star-like object; toward an uncertain fate once again. This time, the group was under the guidance of Alexander Stormwaal, whom they almost unanimously agreed was to become the next High Chief of the Terran people.
813
814April revealed that she had left the Antila to help plan his inauguration ceremony, and Alex was deeply touched.
815
816But in his heart, Alex doubted himself and his ability to lead despite what April had told him. He hoped with all his being that Kaon would keep his promise, or else he would be leading his people to certain death in outer space.
817
818Just as supplies began to run short, their scouts discovered what looked like a small solar system just ahead of them.
819
820After a solid 9 months in deep space, the Terran urbanity were left praying for a miracle. But would they get it? Or would they get much worse?

824April: It looks like we're almost there, Chief.
825Alex: Uh, it's Alexander, please.
826April: Oh? And you do not prefer Solomon Stingger either?
827Alex: NO! Absolutely not! Please do not call me that!
828April: *laughs*
829Alex: Can I ask you something? How is it possible that you remain so … full of joy even after all that's happened?
830April: A magician never reveals her secrets.
831Alex: Hmpf. Whatever.
832Grease: So what is to be done now, Chief.
833Alex: It's Alex, Dr. Jordan.
834Grease: Uh, yes sir.
835Alex: Anyway, I guess we'll just explore this area of our galaxy and see what's here.
836
837Keep everyone together at all times. And that includes the fleet. Who knows what kinds of intelligent life forms we may run into.
838
839Land on Death Trap
840Unit: It's … freezing! 5 more minutes here and I'll die of hypothermia! Not a good day for exploring ice planets.
841
842 See Adamantine
843Unit: Hey, he's cute!
844Adamantine: Raaaaalgh!
845Unit: And definitely not friendly!
846
847See Abandoned Dwartha HQ
848Alex: That looks like an abandoned colony HQ/Power plant – judging by it's fusion core – but I am unfamiliar with it's architecture. I wonder who it may belong to …
849
850See Dwarths
851Unit: Chief, we've got a bogey. It looks like a pygmy humanoid creature!
852Alex: Like a child?
853Unit: They seem a bit stoic to be children.
854Alex: It could be a young bodybuilder who's had a rough childhood …
855Dwarth: *into comm link* Sarge, we're being invaded by giants! Send backup!
856Alex: Wait a minute, that is surely not the voice of a child … could it be? No, that's impossible …
857Faro: Well, if it is an organic, multi-cellular vertebrate, it will bleed just the same as any other. Attack it hard enough to draw blood and I will be able to obtain a DNA?RNA sample.
858
859Attack Dwarth
860Unit: Got the sample.
861Faro: Scanning …
862
863It's a … Dwarth sir.
864Alex: What?!?!? No! I refuse to believe it!
865Faro: It's true, sir.
866April: What is a Dwarth?
867Alex: Now is a bad time for an explanation
868
869But we must try to communicate with them. They knew us – albeit, centuries ago – maybe they'll listen.
870Unit: Right. Yo dwarth! May we have a word with you? You remember us right? We mean you no harm.
871Dwarth: I ain't got no idea what you're gabbin' about … Jumpin' Jackhammer! Ya can't possibly be one o' them Humans can ya?
872Unit: We are indeed of the race of mankind. We are refugees from a world far from yours. We only ask that you help us find our place in this unfamiliar territory.
873Dwarth: Hmpf, as much as I'd be thrilled to catch up on what's happened in the past 150 years or so, we've gotten direct orders from our Sarge to drive your terminal tartan fragments out of our sector. And that we will!
874Alex: It appears that Dwarths truly can't be reasoned with …
875April: Can you blame them for not trusting us though? If we an somehow make it to their leader – this “Sarge†we heard about – we can ask him to order his men to stand down and hear us out.
876Alex: Well, I can't think of a better plan. Let's give it a shot.
877
878Alex Moves Next to Dwartha Sarge
879Alex: Call them off, Sarge. We mean you no harm. You and me are gonna have a little chat.
880Sarge: You stinkin' Wessie vermin! You're always giving us trouble! My granny didn't want no part with ya, my daddy didn't want no part with ya, and neither do I!
881Alex: Your fortifications have fallen flat and your guards are defeated in spite of our being few in number. I believe we have earned the right to be heard.
882Sarge: Meh, it's the weekend and I was giving most of them the day off.
883Alex: Whatever, I demand a hearing!
884Sarge: Och, I never wanted to see you Wessies in my life.
885Alex: Oh, boo hoo hoo. C'est la vie.
886Sarge: Fine, I'll let you have yer say. But if I detect the slightest hint of hostility or see that you put me people in any kind of peril, I'll have yer tail fins whopped right back to wherever you came from. Izat clear?
887Alex: Fair enough
888
889Ours is quite a story, mister …
890Sarge: Just call me Emperor Bob. Bob the Mighty.
891Alex: … Wait so there wasn't a ton of creativity in your family tree?
892Bob: See? That's what I'm talking about right there! You Wesnothian humans never miss an oportunity to humiliate us! Take them away!
893Alex: I didn't mean anything by it! I just thought it was funny that … nevermind.
894Bob: Funny that what?
895Alex: Nothing! Nothing at all!
896Bob: You've got a problem? Well? Tell me to my face!
897Alex: Well … I just thought that your name was kinda … short.
898Bob: SHORT?!? WHO YA CALLIN' SHORT, YA WALKIN' SKYSCRAPER?!?!?! For 2 and a half credits I'd –
899Alex: Hey, settle down! I didn't call you short. You asked a question and I answered it! Now take it easy, Sarge!
900Bob: Who ya callin' “Sarge†Wessie?
901Alex: Who are you calling “Wessie†creep?
902Bob: Who ya callin' “creep†freak?
903Bald'r Dash: That is quite enough!
904
905With all due respect, sir, after over 100 years you still have the same measure of maturity that you did when I first saw your adorable little face come into this world.
906Bob: Don't talk down to me, Bald'r Dash I'm having a moment here! And furthermore, I'm still the boss of this dump!
907Bald'r: All I'm saying, sir, is that you need to approach this situation like your father would – methodically.
908Bob: Well, in case you haven't noticed, dreamy I ain't my father!
909Bald'r: Your Highness, you do know that our Empire has the best polygraphical technology in the universe. We both want to know if Mr. Stretch here poses a threat. Let's see what he has to say in the “crib.â€
910
911If they give us any trouble, then we can shoot their sorry carcasses into space to orbit around our planet or whatever it was that you said you were going to do with them. If we kill them now, we may never know what actually became of them when our colony parted ways with –
912Alex: Abandoned.
913Bald'r: Tomato, tomoto. The point, Your Highness, is that they are more use to us alive than dead.
914Bob: Your words are wise, as always.
915
916Guards! Take them to the “cribâ€!
917Grease: *to Bald'r Dash* Can't thank you enough for intervening, fellow.
918Bald'r: The name's Bald'r Dash, mate. You can call me Dash.
919Grease: Do tell me one thing. How is it that you get this leader of yours to even listen to you? He doesn't seem like the type to submit to anybody.
920Bald'r: And he's not. But lucky for me, I happen to be the royal family's most trusted adviser
921Bob: Assistant.
922Bald'r: Adviser
923Bob: Assistant.
924Bald'r: Either way, I served his father during his reign, and if fate shall have it, I'll serve his adolescent son when he comes of age.
925
926But enough chit chat, the “crib†awaits!

929 Scenario 10: Recollections and Discoveries (talk only)
930
931Story Text
932The Terrans were then taken to the Dwartha security facility, (commonly known as “the Cribâ€) where their leader, Alexander Stormwaal was stripped of his weapons and strapped to a high-tech polygraph.
933
934Intro Dialogue
935Bob: You seem to be the leader of these tall-folk, so make yourself comfortable, and I'll ask ya a few questions. This here lie detector will tell me if yer lying – which I guess is what it's supposed to do by definition.
936
937Ahem. Question number one: What's your name?
938Alex: Parson Alexander Solomon Stingger Stormwaal MacIntyre. By birth, I am Solomon Stingger, but when I was adopted, I was given the name Alexander Stormwaal. But, of course, I also inherit my father's name, Parson MacIntyre. Actually, he was my great-grandfather, the Great Leader.
939Bob: *nearly faints* Well, that'll never do! No no. how about Par?
940Alex: I prefer Alexander, please.
941Bob: … okay … I'll call you Al.
942
943So, Al, you are indeed one of them Wessies, yes?
944Alex: Would you stop calling me that? Yes, we are of the race of humans that long ago created the Great Kingdom of Wesnoth on the long forgotten mother planet, Irdya. But when our Great Leader was abandoned by your people, he lead us against all odds to the green planet which he called Terra..
945Bob: Some “Great Leader†he was. The only thing great about him was how he insulted my father! Ain't no recompense for that!
946Alex: I'm sure he didn't mean to! For crying out loud, I don't even remember what they fought about!
947Bob: *quietly* It … it was a slice of pumpkin pie … and he wanted it bad.
948Alex: *flabbergasted* A SLICE OF PIE?!?!? YOU LEFT US TO FEND FOR OURSELVES IN DEEP SPACE WITH NOTHING BUT A CHEAP ESCAPE POD … AND ALL FOR A SLICE OF PIE?!?!?!?
949Bob: It was a big … big piece. Ever had a bout of low blood sugar?
950Alex: *sighs* Listen, you dwarths have no idea of the hardship we've had to go through. We've been chased around the galaxy by a seemingly innumerable army of alien invaders. A time traveling harbinger told us to seek refuge from your people. If you don't want to help us, then fine. We'll take our “terminal tartan fragments†someplace else.
951Polygraph: *beeps*
952Bald'r: *to Bob* Looks like Poly approves.
953Bob: Shut up, Dash.
954
955*sigh* Al, let me give it to you straight …
956Alex: I don't take it any other way.
957Bob: We simply don't have enough space here for Wessies.
958Alex: It's Terrans.
959Bob: Right, whatever. As you can see, we dwarths are having enough trouble finding room for ourselves.
960Alex: You look pretty cozy to me.
961Bob: *sigh* The best way to explain is to take you to the Outpost. Follow me, I'll show ya 'round.
962Alex: Uh … but …
963Bob: Oh, right. Can someone please untie him from that … thing.
964Alex: Before our little sightseeing trip, there's somebody I'd like locked in here until we get back. Guards, brig in my cousin. And Capricornus Alcor while you're at it.
965Bob: Who are these fellows? Criminals?
966Alex: Of the worst kind. Do me a favor and have as many of you guardsmen as you can spare posted at the door. This is a tricky one …
967Voltimand: *flashes an evil grin*
968Bob: *whispers* Now I don't like the looks of none of ya, but this one is seriously a assault to the vision. *sounds alarm* Come along. We have much to see. You're with me, Dash.
969
970Welcome to the Outpost! This watchtower is the control center for our entire sector. With it, we observe any activity in the vicinity. Wow, I can make a rap out of that.
971Alex: Don't. Just … don't.
972Bob: Anyway, after a few clicks *motions to a worker* … voila! A map of our whole solar system.
973Alex: *points to an area far to the left* There! That's where Terra is … or, used to be.
974Bald'r: Meh, my scientists always told me that it was just a faraway asteroid. Anyway, right now we're standing on Himinbjorg –
975Bob: Or just “Bjorg†for those of us who don't have all day to tie their tongues in a knot.
976Bald'r: Yes. Bjorg is the epicenter for our economy, and the home to the dwartha's largest cities.
977Bob: Flying overhead is our Mothership.
978Alex: The one my forefathers built and you stole???
979Bob: It was a business decision. My father claimed it as his, and when he died, the ownership fell to me. I have many pilots and co-pilots, but my father configured it so that only I can unlock the full capabilities of the craft. That requires a retinal scan and a face identifier, among many other security checks that it would take all day to mention.
980Alex: What exactly can it do?
981Bob: Naturally, my answer would be “none of your business,†but to be honest, I've never tried it before. Never had to.
982Alex: Forgive my asking, but what happens if you die?
983Bob: Then it must be reconfigured for my successor. Hmm, right on cue as usual.
984Junior: Hey dad.
985Bob: Welcome back, Junior. Enjoy your party?
986Junior: Sure did. I really think I have a chance with the secretary's daughter. I got her cell number.
987
988*gasps* Is that a giant?
989Bob: It's a long story, son. But to be breif, no this is not a giant, but actually one of them humans your grampy told you about.
990Alex: Hey there kid.
991Junior: I never thought I'd meet a Wessie. Aren't they the ones that tried to steal the Mother-ship from us?
992Alex: …
993
994*to Bob* Is that what you're telling him?
995Bob: Uh, eheh. Junior, I have much to explain, but for now I'm just showing him around.
996Junior: Mind if I hang with ya?
997Bob: Not a bit, sonny!
998Junior: Daaaaaad, you're embarrassing me.
999Bald'r: Let us proceed …
1000
1001Over here is Fjorgyn, a smaller planet you may have noticed when you came blundering through our sector. It's not as populated, or rich in minerals and nutrients as Bjorg, but it is home to a number of rather adorable shelled creatures we call adamantines.
1002Junior: Trust me, nuTube is flooded with videos showing their intelligence. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them beat a human on an IQ test.
1003Alex: Oooooookay …
1004Bob: The closest planet to our great star is called D'sil. While not the most comfortable place to live with it's undesirably warm temperatures, it was once a successful tourist magnet. In fact, I opened up a few dozen resorts and spas on it myself. Unfortunately, after one too many earthquakes and dust storms, the Dwartha Empire was forced to close down most of them.
1005Alex: Dwartha … Empire?
1006Bob: Yes, Empire. Do you know of any other race this technologically advanced?
1007Bald'r: Moving on …
1008
1009That asteroid belt over there is called the Noose.
1010Bob: That's where we planed to send yer body bags if we didn't like ya.
1011Alex: *sarcastic* You have the soul of a poet.
1012Bob: I don't even know what that means.
1013Bald'r: Far off to the left is Gurmbogg. That's where the orcs live.
1014Alex: Orcs?! What do you know about orcs? They all lived and died in our sector!
1015Bob: Actually, no. Wessies are so short-sighted.
1016Alex: For the last time, do not call me Wessie!
1017Bob: Okay okay! Don't get your pinkies in a knot!
1018Alex: I demand you explain your mention of orcs!
1019Bob: I'll let Dash explain.
1020Bald'r: You see Al, Bob's father, Robert the Brave decided that the empire wasn't going to build itself, and that we didn't quite have enough of a workforce to make his dream of a Dwarthtopia –
1021Alex: I hope one day you understand how corny that sounds …
1022Bald'r: – a reality. So he had to make a, um, business decision.
1023Alex: Wait a moment … are you saying that he stole some of the goblin slaves?
1024Bald'r: More like, appropriated. It was a brilliant plan, really. That is, until the goblins began to get increasingly stronger and more dangerous. After a crushing loss at the hands of the mighty dwartha army, they stole a few ships and fled to Gurmbogg to recuperate. They've been there ever since, never failing to raid our settlements for supplies and scraps, killing anything that gets in their way.
1025Alex: see what happens when you tamper with that which doesn't belong to you?
1026Bald'r: Easy boss. So it wasn't the wisest thing he ever did, but, geez, I thought we were the ones that hold grudges forever.
1027Alex: Over what? Desert?!?! I think I have every right to hold a grudge!
1028Bald'r: If you say so, kid.
1029Awkward Silence
1030Alex: And what's that celestial body over there?
1031Bob: Ahhhh. That's the Absolute Zero Zone. Also known as the Death Zone. Or the Killing Chill Zone. Or even the Hypothermic Terror Zone.
1032
1033It's basically a big chunk of ice that is the farthest planet from our great star.
1034
1035A few years ago, I sent a troop of my most rugged soldiers and explorers on an expedition there –
1036Alex: *raises eyebrows*
1037Bob: Adequately equipped and prepared, mind you. But they never returned.
1038Alex: I wonder why …
1039Bob: But other than that, there are only a few minor dwarf planets and asteroids in this solar system.
1040
1041I showed you around to prove the point that we really have no more space for your people.
1042Bald'r: But there may be another solution …
1043Bob: *to Bald'r* You think I'm just gonna give away favors?
1044Alex: Hey if there's any other way, I'm open.
1045Bob: Hmm, well, and much as I'd love to see you humans all crowded onto a tiny asteroid, I think I'll make you another offer.
1046
1047Recently, Bald'r Dash and his scientists have been messing around with a nuclear fusion experiment Basically if it works we can pull together some abstract space matter, and an an asteroid or two, into a sort of planetary nebula where all of the science-y stuff happens – and voila! A new planet is ready to be sent into orbit.
1048Alex: Really?
1049Bob: Mind you, it's only experimental And I wont just give it away for free. If it fails, it could set the whole system off balance.
1050Alex: Well, what do you want me to do?
1051Bob: Now you're speaking my language!
1052
1053Hmm, I might have one thing …
1054
1055okay, here's the deal. If you can somehow withstand subzero temperatures and search the dreaded Death Zone for survivors, you will have earned my respect and I will order Bald'r and his fellows to proceed with the experiment
1056Alex: Fine. Whatever it takes to get my people a safe home, I'm in.
1057Bob: That's the spirit. If you succeed, a planet you shall have.
1058Junior: Can't wait to see that on nuTube! It's gonna be wild!
1059Bob: Oh and before I forget, what does the average squadron of Terran soldiers look like?
1060Alex: Glad you asked. Bob the Mighty, meet the might of the Terran Army!!!
1061
1062Bob: That's it?
1063Alex: What?
1064Bob: That's … that's all?
1065Alex: You're not awestruck?
1066Bob: Not a bit. I wasn't even awetapped or awebrushed.
1067
1068Tell you what, take this *hands him a virtual business card* to the Imperial Manufactures HQ (the directions are included), ask for Phaestus, and tell him I sent you. He'd be glad to administer some … upgrades to your weapons. You'll need more than plasma rifles to face whatever's on that ice.
1069Alex: Thanks a lot, Bob. I won't let you down.
1070Bob: I'll be fine. It's those explorers that I'm concerned about.
1071Alex: I understand. Truce?
1072Bob Yeah, alright. But don't you ever lay a hand on my pie, okay?
1073

1077Story Text
1078
1079Alexander Stormwaal gathered what was left of his troops and prepared them for an expedition to the Death Zone. You could count on one hand the number of soldiers that were exited about the prospect of facing the bitter cold, but they trusted their leader and A;ex himself knew that it was the only way to preserve his people.
1080
1081Within a month, they were ready to take on their toughest challenge yet.
1082
1083Intro Dialogue
1084Alex: Just like we've discussed, folks. This is purely recon. Do not take military action unless I give the command.
1085April: Should we really let Junior film the whole thing?
1086Alex: It would be wiser not to say anything against the boy. Any drama with the dwarths is drama we don't need. Head out!
1087
1088Move to Planet other than Death Zone
1089Alex: That's not the Death Zone (though I agree that it would make a much better vacation destination). Stay on task, folks.
1090Unit: Aw! Okay.
1091
1092Beam Down to Death Zone
1093Unit: I feel like I'm sitting in an InstaFreeze in my underwear on a snow-sculpted throne sipping rocket ship engine coolant with extra ice!
1094April: It looks pretty dark over there, too. Hang in there guys!
1095
1096Dwarths are Sighted
1097Unit: Over there!
1098Alex: It has been confirmed, Bob there are survivors. We found them!
1099Bob: Jolly! Tell you what, once you find out what's going on over thar, try to evacuate as many of them as you can.
1100Alex: Roger that.
1101Meanwhile
1102Dwarth: Colonel Riga, the unidentified craft has emptied it's contents.
1103
1104They appear to be as giants! What should I do?
1105
1106Got it.
1107
1108You there! What is yer business on this cursed celestial ball eh?
1109Alex: It will take a good while to explain everything, dwarth. But perhaps you would recognize the name Bob the Mighty? He sent us to rescue you and return you to your home.
1110Dwarth: Jumpin' Jackhammer! We've been rescued?!? at long last!
1111Narrator: A voice screams over the dwarth's comm link
1112Dwarth: Oh, right. I gotta ask ya a question to make sure you've truly been sent by the Sarge.
1113
1114How old would his son be now?
1115Alex: Hey Bob, can you help me out?
1116Bob: 52 years.
1117Alex: 52??? are you serious? I thought you said he was a teenager!
1118Bob: I said adolescent Dwartha physiology plus the benefits of modern science, my friend. 60 year-olds are still living the life of the party!
1119Alex: Oookay.
1120
1121He's 52 now, dwarth.
1122Dwarth: Correct. Ha! So you were sent by the Sarge. Could ya give us a hand with these orcs first though?
1123Alex: Ugh, I wanted to be rid of them forever. How many times must we fight these troglodytes?
1124
11253 Orcs Die
1126Alex: Hmm, their technology and fight pattern seem to be very similar to the ones back home on Terra. This shouldn't be too much of a problem.
1127
1128Colonel Riga is Sighted
1129Riga:Yo tall-folk! Who's in charge over thar?
1130Alex: I am.
1131Riga: I am Colonel Riga. You seem to have had some experience fighting against the likes of these vermin. How is that so?
1132Alex: There was a whole infestation of them where we came from.
1133Riga: I'd like to hear all about it – after we win this battle of course.
1134
1135One more thing: you have to promise to get me off this planet safely. I have family and friends who all miss me, plus a handful of unfinished projects to attend to.
1136Alex: Very well, I'll get you back home.
1137
1138Kill All Orc Leaders
1139Alex: There goes their last leader. I wish them best of luck in trying to rally more troops now. Let's get everyone off this triple scoop vanilla bean ice cream sandwich!
1140
1141If player has small number of Transport Ships
1142Alex: We can either spend money on more transport ships, or come back for these other soldiers and risk them freezing to death.
1143
1144Victory
1145Alex: We made it!
1146Bob Colonel Riga? Is that you?
1147Riga: You bet your asteroid belt it is! I didn't think I'd ever be rescued from that frozen prison. I sure am lucky to be alive.
1148Bob: That you are. But tell me, how is it that ya lost communication with the support crew?
1149Riga: Well, about a week into our expedition, our comms systems crashed (and where's a good technician when you need one?) so my squad spent a few months building a crude satellite from scratch in the bitter cold. Boy am I glad for my Girl Scout years.
1150
1151We completed it one night and, thinking we had done well, hit the sacks for the day. When we woke up, we found it to be demolished by a war band of veracious orcs. As they continued to raid our small settlement, we hunkered down and raised a fort – the one we call the fort of bitter tears.
1152
1153Despite our most valiant efforts, the orcish host foiled our plans. It seems as though a whole honkin' tribe of them settled on the ice planet.
1154Bald'r: An interesting report.
1155Bob: And I believed that life could not be sustained on that planet.
1156
1157Well, we're happy to have you back.
1158Riga: Happy to be back.
1159Bob: And thank you humans for doing this deed for our people. We will now execute the lot of ye and have your carcasses swallowed by a black hole!!!
1160Alex: !
1161Bob: AHAHAHAHA!!! Gotcha! Hahaha! Man the look on your face … priceless!
1162
1163Ahem. Bald'r, you and your comrades may now activate X-planet 1 and fulfill our end of the bargain.
1164Bald'r: On it. Fire up the Pion nuclear fusion device!
1165Junior: Can't wait to see this!
1166Alex: And Riga, about that origin story …
1167
1168
1169 Scenario 12: Vendettas
1170
1171
1172Story Text
1173From the very moment that Bald'r Dash gave the command and the technician activated the massive deep-space machine, time seemed to slow for Alex and his followers. Maybe it was Kaon playing tricks with their minds. Or perhaps is was just their hope and expectation of all that they'd worked and fought for being materialized before their eyes that was to blame for their unexpected dip into the subconscious.
1174
1175First, the great machine rumbled and wired, shaking like a rattle snake. Then it purred, and without warning, erupted into a furious roar as if it was to explode into a supernova.
1176
1177But finally, small pieces of iron began to migrate to a certain point, fusing to form the core. Larger and larger it became until it had tripled in size and reached the desired density.
1178
1179Later came the outer core, then the mantle, and finally an outer crust formed from pulverized, nutrient-rich asteroids and synthetic soil and grass.
1180
1181The final step was to send it into orbit. It was also the most dangerous, as the new planet could easily collide with any of the other planets in the solar system. The gravitation field used to propel the celestial orb was supervised by Bald'r Dash, Dr. Geome Jordan, and Dr. Faro Dolan collectively. At first, the planet wobbled slightly off course, but was quickly straightened by the steady hands of the technicians. It was placed between the planets D'sil and Himinbjorg, as per the climate preferences of the Terran humans.
1182
1183When the planet at last was caught in orbit of the Great Star, the room in the control center erupted into an outcry of rejoicing and shouting. Hugs and high-fives went 'round the room, and Alex gave the new planet the name Terra-2.
1184
1185As soon as Bald'r Dash gave the all clear, Alex and his people, along with a few dwarths (including Junior and his recording glasses) made their way to Terra-2.
1186
1187A great celebration was held once the surface was deemed sound. Alex himself was pleased that all he had done to try to help the people his father left him with had at last payed off. He planed to begin making digital maps of the area for construction plans, but April Allen-Ester managed to convince him to join the party.
1188
1189Intro Dialogue
1190April: Hey Alex, do you know how to dance?
1191Alex: Uh, no.
1192April: *snickers* What about you Dash?
1193Bald'r: Trust me, you do not want to see me dance.
1194April: Junior's really pumping out those hits though.
1195Junior: You bet! And I'm about to light up the dance floor with this new track I downloaded recently.
1196Alex: By whom?
1197Junior: Sting Beats Studios.
1198Alex: *alarmed* Delete it! Delete it right now!!!
1199Junior: Oops, I already hit play ….
1200Narrator: An insanely loud and dizzyingly high-pitched noise blares from the speakers that sends the party-goers' ears ringing.
1201Alex: AAAAAAH!
1202April: *covering her ears and trying to yell over the noise* THIS ISN'T EXACTLY A POP BALLAD!!!
1203Alex: *yelling* UNLESS YOU'RE MY CRACKPOT COUSIN!!!
1204Bald'r: SHUT IT OFF, JUNIOR!!!
1205Junior: I'M TRYING!!! IT WON'T POWER DOWN!!!
1206Bald'r: THEN JUST DESTROY THE WHOLE THING BEFORE OUR EARLOBES DETONATE!!!
1207Smash
1208Faro: Ugh, I feel dizzy
1209April: How on earth could he have done all that from solitary confinement?
1210Alex: *alarmed*The prison! *through comm link* Bob, check the crib!!!
1211Bob: Why?
1212Alex: Just do it!
1213Bob: It's … it's empty!
1214Alex: Then Voltimand's escaped!
1215
1216Put out a red alert! Lock down every single building in this solar system! Keep all eyes out for my cousin and don't let him get away!
1217Narrator: Every unit on Terra-2 will be slowed to start this scenario.
1218
1219Turn 3
1220Alex: Bob, tell me you didn't allow the security to loosen it's grip on him!
1221Bob: I had guards on every side, but to be honest, I was beginning to think that you were just paranoid. He didn't look like the type to need maximum security.
1222Alex: Well, if he was trying to escape, do ya seriously think he'd be breaking down doors sayin', “Hi I'm Da Volt, I'm a hooligan, and I need maximum security! That's his game Bob! The worst criminals are the ones that don't act the part.
1223
1224Spread out and search. He could be anywhere …
1225
1226Other Outlaws Sighted
1227Alex: What's this?
1228April: Did Voltimand clone himself?
1229Grease: Doesn't seem like it. I have a feeling that these were formerly soldiers of our own that he's turned against us. Quite possibly with glorious promises of wealth, fame and fortune, bla bla bla.
1230Alex: Like I said, crackpot.
1231
1232Capricornus Alcor is Sighted
1233April: That better not be who I think it is …
1234Capricornus: Greetings, Captain Allen-Ester. Or should I say … assistant?
1235Alex: Capricornus Alcor?!?!? What in the orbit of Haley's Comet do you think you're doing here? And where did you get that ship?
1236Capricornus: Do ya like it? I call her the Ankilla.
1237Alex: You have 5 seconds to tell me how you got out of the security ward!
1238Capricornus: I don't have to explain anything to you, but I'd pay to see the look on your face when I tell you what happened.
1239
1240I struck a deal with your cousin: he would help me escape if I agreed to command his fleet.
1241April: His fleet?
1242Capricornus: Yes. While you and your tin soldiers were off on their arctic vacation, I and a few chaps that were a part of Voltimand's successful crime ring, broke out using the Stingger's tech – not to mention help from a quite a few sleeper agents that were hiding in plain sight in your very own ranks – and stole some of your unguarded gunships. While we were at it, we decided to give 'em a body job, add a few upgrades here and there … it turned out to be quite a project for which some other members if your army readily signed up.
1243
1244I'd say the ships look better than they did originally. You?
1245Alex: You disgusting, stardust-grubbing imbecile! I should never have let you live! I'll rip you right out of that cockpit and watch you choke to death in outer space, even if I have to die doing it!
1246Capricornus: Try your worst!
1247April: Chief, Capricornus was our best pilot. How should we handle him, seeing that he gave his talents over to the equally dangerous Voltimand Stingger?
1248Alex: Swarm 'im. He doesn't have the Antila anymore, and that piece of scrap metal he's in can't compare to what you've got. Turn her loose and don't hold back!
1249
1250April Attacks Capricornus
1251Capricornus: You're just as dumb as I thought you were to attack me. You really think you can out fly your own boss?
1252April: Let's see.
1253
1254Voltimand is Sighted
1255Unit: There he is!
1256Voltimand: It took you long enough to find me. I was considering taking a quick power nap.
1257Alex: Voltimand, what have I done to you that you render me this evil? How is is that you only seek my demise? We share the same blood!
1258Voltimand: Have you forgotten? That very blood was spilled on the steps of my uncles house. Your real father's house. It ran down the streets of the entire precinct. That tyrant MacIntyre's massacre tainted the minds of every child I knew. You included!
1259Alex: That tyrant MacIntyre built the Terran community from a mere colony to a nation and gave us hope of survival on our planet.
1260Voltimand: And how did that turn out, huh? Where's Terra now?
1261Alex: Terra exists not as a planet, but as a people. What truly matters is what's in the hearts of those we call family.
1262Voltimand: He did an excellent job of stopping the hearts of those I call family!
1263Alex: Parson is dead, and I am nothing like my father. And yet you still want me killed. Why?
1264Voltimand: Because you fail to realize the truth that to lead a nation, you must learn to be subject to the will of the people! You're still corrupted by everything your father taught you! But the people will have their FREEDOM!!!
1265
1266Kill Capricornus Alcor
1267Unit: Damage to his ship is now at critical level.
1268Alex: Blast him to smithereens!
1269Capricornus: No, please!
1270Unit: As you wish, chief.
1271Capricornus: Eject! Eject!
1272Ankilla: Request acknowledged Ejecting.
1273Capricornus: *poof*
1274Unit: Aw shoot. We lost 'im again.
1275Alex: Maybe not. His re-breather won't last long in deep space. He'll die soon enough.
1276
1277Kill Voltimand Stingger
1278Voltimand: Fine, you've beaten me. Do what you wish. But remember this, Solomon. To lead these people you have to serve them. Give them rights. Allow them a choice in how they live their lives. Give them someone to respect.
1279Alex: Absolutely erroneous. The people can't govern themselves. That's why they need a leader.
1280Voltimand: I cannot bear to hear you talk so. If you're going to kill me, do it now.
1281Alex: As much as I want to, I could never bring myself to take your life. Father wouldn't approve.
1282Voltimand: Then you have sentenced yourself to a lifetime of suffering. For I have sworn that I will stop at nothing to oppose your totalitarian regime and place the keys of the future in the hands of the Terran urbanity!
1283Alex: I think I can handle that. Guards, take him away. Put double encryption on the doors and triple the patrol staff.
1284
1285Now let's take in the others. (This is displayed if the player has not “killed†all enemy units)
1286
1287Victory
1288Alex: Good, they're all in their places.
1289
1290I will never let a single one of them out of my sigh again.
1291
1292Let's head back to Terra.
1293
1294 Scenario 13: Encrypted
1295
1296Story Text
1297With the rebels under lock and key, the Terran people could finally relax and put down their roots in good soil. Over the next few years, the population of Terra-2 grew exponentially. The people began to raise buildings that soon became skyscrapers Scientists like Faro Dolan and Geome Jordan began to open schools to instruct the next generation. Wealthy people built businesses and corporations as Terra-2's economy soared. They traded with the Dwartha Empire and began to prosper in their new home.
1298
1299But with nothing to fight for, Alexander Stormwaal effectively lost touch with the rest of humanity. April Allen-Ester devoted most of her time to helping the chief embrace the reward of peace he fought so hard to obtain, but to no avail.
1300
1301Alex diligently tried to lead his people with honor and justice, but with such a distant, disconnected leader, it was not hard for some of his citizens to consider the proposition of the populist, democratic system of government that Voltimand made. This lead to more revolts, arrests, and violence as tensions between the loyalist Terran people and the so-called rebels flared.
1302
1303Meanwhile, Alex proceeded to shrink away from the public eye, only surfacing to help his now good friend Bob the Mighty repel an inevitable orcish raid, squash a rebellion, or train young commanders in his trade. He particularly found potential in the dwartha Emperor's son Bobby Jr.
1304
1305With that said, fighting was what he knew best, and he would soon get the opportunity to do just that.
1306
1307Intro Dialogue
1308Junior: Move your asteroids to the far side of the moon before I beat the living daylight savings time, and Spring Equinox out of you!!!
1309Alex: Now, now, Junior. That's not what I meant by “exuding an aura of command.â€
1310Junior: But you said to seize the respect of those under my authority.
1311Alex: Well, not like that. That was just straight-up tyranny
1312April: *over comms* Chief, we have a situation!
1313Alex: I'll be right there. *to Junior* Keep working on that, and I'll be back with you in a sec.
1314
1315What's up?
1316April: Reports from the planet Fjorgyn. The dwarths' outpost there has been attacked.
1317Alex: *eyes light up* By whom?
1318Grease: We don't know for sure, but they're clearly not made up of organic compounds.
1319Alex: Androids?
1320Grease: Most likely. They've responded to none of the procedural biological stimuli. Not to mention, highly advanced artificial intelligence is not uncommon in these parts. They seem programmed to kill everything in sight.
1321Alex: Does Voltimand have a hand in this?
1322April: That was our first thought too, but we're now absolutely certain that he has nothing to do with this. Trust me, we've looked into everything that could possibly tie him to it. But that's the scary part … they're neither Terran, nor Dwartha technology.
1323Alex: Okay, let's get on it. Head straight for Fjorgyn.
1324
1325See Enemy Ships
1326Unit: Unidentified craft, what is your IFF?
1327Robot Pilot: DIE!
1328Unit: Bummer. You have such a nice ship.
1329April: Definitely not like anything I've ever seen.
1330
1331Android Sighted
1332Unit: hmm, these things look high-tech.
1333Alex: I just want to see what happens when you hit one.
1334
1335Attack Android
1336Unit: Chief, these things seem to have no weakness and are fueled by an unseen energy source. How will we defeat them?
1337Alex: Pound them 'till they break!
1338
1339Turn 6?
1340Narrator: A strange sound is heard.
1341Bob: What was that?
1342Voltimand: We meet again, High Chief. Nice touch of grey. It looks good on you.
1343Alex: VOLTIMAND!!!
1344Voltimand: I told ya I was getting out. Shoulda killed me …
1345Alex: You putrid, petty, piddling insurrectionist!
1346Voltimand: 3 “p†words and a 5 syllable knockout punch? Take a gander at our walking thesaurus, men!
1347Capricornus: *sarcastic sigh* If only his political chops were as fascinating as his vocabulary …
1348Alex: Capricornus Alcor??? I thought I killed you!
1349Capricornus: Think again, Donkey Kong.
1350Voltimand: You know, Solomon, we could've broken out months ago, but I put it off for a while until I saw that our people were once again in danger. I mean, they're always in some sort of oppression with you in power, but a deadly android apocalypse? *phew* I knew you wouldn't be able to do it without me. You need me.
1351Alex: The only place I need you is the clink!
1352Capricornus: I beg to differ, Solomon. You know very well that my friend here is one of the greatest computer scientists to ever grace this world. And in case you haven't noticed, these androids are far more prepared for physical warfare than a cyber attack.
1353Voltimand: That's right. The security protocol on their software is humorously poor. It didn't take me long to break in. all you have to do, O mighty High Chief, is give the command, and I press one button to activate a malware assault.
1354Alex: And why should I believe you?! As far as I know, these robots could be your very own!
1355Voltimand: Are you mad?!? first of all, I would never unduly put my people in danger in this way! And furthermore, how could I possibly build hundreds of androids – with technology more advanced than even the best that Terra has to offer – from my stinkin' solitary confinement cell?!?!
1356Alex: Oh come on!!! I know your tricks by now.
1357Voltimand: Ask the dwarths to check the security cameras. All I did for months was eat, sleep, and –
1358Bald'r: He's right Alex.
1359Alex: I still don't trust you.
1360Voltimand: Fine then. Let your people get slaughtered by killer robots. It doesn't seem beyond you.
1361
1362Listen, I know you hat me, cousin, but can we at least come to an understanding this once? Give this plan a chance. After all, your people are my people.
1363Alex: Alright. You leave me no choice …
1364
1365I'll make a deal with you. You help us defeat the androids and I promise not to nullify you brain cells like my father said he would.
1366Voltimand: Up to this point, you seemed rather content with his punishment.
1367Alex: I have come to realize that I am not my father, nor will I ever be.
1368Voltimand: Then you're one step closer to realizing that our current system of government is tyrannical and unfair.
1369Bob: Say, how about we discuss politics later huh?
1370Alex: Right. Do you accept?
1371Voltimand: It's a deal. And I think it only fair to set aside my burning desire to remove you from power and liberate the people as well.
1372Alex: Yes, that is very important. No revolutionary coups until I say “ready set go,†understand?
1373Voltimand: *laughs dryly* Fine, cousin. Here goes. *types on computer*
1374Fancy Sound FX
1375Alex: Care to explain what you just did?
1376Voltimand: Just a simple rootkit hack, no sweat. It's contagious, so now there are 2,147,483,648 little bugs in the code of each robot. They should be easier to take out now, Solomon.
1377Alex: Don't call me that.
1378
1379Capricornus Attacks
1380April: Capricornus Alcor, you should be ashamed to be breathing right now. You are a disgrace to our nation!
1381Capricornus: Nice to see you too, precious. Having fun being a Girl Scout?
1382April: Say what you want, only one of us is piloting Terra's Flagship.
1383Capricornus: You know Alexander only let you fly that thing because he likes you right? It has nothing to do with your skill.
1384April: You wanna bet? Allow me to introduce you to my machine guns!
1385Alex: April, stop! He's with Voltimand now. If we kill him, my cousin will likely renege on his deal.
1386
1387Victory
1388Voltimand: Wait! Don't destroy that last bot just yet. It should have a data chip on it that I can use to rewrite it's program.
1389Bob: Rewrite it to do what?
1390Voltimand: Take us to mommy. You see, it's obvious that these machines were mass produced, so they all have a unique programming nuance to match them to what I assume would be a large factory for identification reasons. This nuance works almost like the branding that farmers used in prehistoric times to show ownership of those ancient, milk producing animal. What was it called again? A cow?
1391Bald'r: So you're saying that you can basically tell this ant to run back to it's hive?
1392Voltimand: Precisely Then we can find out who sent these things our way. It will only take a few moments …
1393
1394 Scenario 14: Area X
1395
1396Story Text
1397Alex, April, Bob, and the others waited with baited breath for what seemed like hours as the intelligent hacker's fingers flew over the keypad of his device, doing who-knew-what to the robot's circuitry
1398
1399At last, he was able to assume control of it's command line and reprogram it to return to the factory in which it was built.
1400
1401After sputtering for a while, the android displayed the exact location of the compound with a hologram.
1402
1403It turned out to be about 438 million miles east (wherever that is in deep space) from the planet Terra-2 on a yet undiscovered terrestrial rock. That planet was the lone satellite orbiting a pair of binary stars. Alex commanded his men to set course for that location at once. April made ready the fleet, and even Voltimand Stingger offered to lend his hand once more in case they needed a cyber attack. The High Chief reluctantly agreed. As for the Dwartha, all of them except Junior stayed behind to ensure the safety of their sector.
1404
1405Intro Dialogue
1406April: We've arrived within a star's gravitational zone of our destination, chief.
1407Alex: You sound like one of those annoying GPS ladies
1408April: Well, I didn't have my coffee this morning, so I'm still a little irritable
1409Alex: *snickers*
1410April: Since when were you Mr. Sunshine?
1411Junior: *yawn* Are we there yet?
1412Alex: Yes we are …
1413Beep
1414Alex: Hold on, I'm getting a strong distress signal from a planet somewhere in our vicinity!
1415Voltimand: Then we must spread out and search. We may very well be this person's last chance at survival. I just hope that individual has a pulse instead of circuitry …
1416Alex: Spread our and search?!?! Absolutely not! We're in a strange place with little more than our weapons and wits! We must stick together and prioritize destroying the factories.
1417Voltimand: See, right there is your problem! Your mindset is always, “seek and destroy.†You need to learn how to care for the small in stature.
1418April: Maybe we should talk about this later.
1419
1420Kalunia is Sighted
1421Unit: Is this where the signal came from?
1422Alex: Yes is it. Let speak with them.
1423
1424Move Adjacent Kalunia
1425Kalunia: Please rescue us, foreigners! We are in great danger and will die if left here any longer.
1426Alex: Who are you?
1427Kalunia: I will explain once you set me free.
1428Alex: Uh, okay.
1429Smash
1430Kam Longevea: We are indebted to you, brave soldier. What may we do to show our gratitude?
1431Alex: You can start by telling me who people are and if you anything about those infernal androids we're battling.
1432Kalunia: Yes, well … the machines are ours. We built them. My nephew, Kam Longevea was the mind behind their intelligence systems and behavior.
1433Voltimand: i.e. The bloodthirsty killing rampage?
1434Kalunia: That was not the intent, foreigner. They were meant to be a special task force to break us free from a the bondage of alien abductors. It worked, but most of the androids were destroyed in the process.
1435Nerla Starling: Then my brother came up with the brilliant idea of programming the robots to build others in large factories and fly our spaceships.
1436Kam: Nerla, as I have told you 1,000 times, it was necessary for our defense! How was I supposed to know that the AI would become faulty and try to destroy us all?!?!
1437Alex: So basically, you crafted the machines and one day they snapped and tried to annihilate you?
1438Kalunia: That is … mostly correct.
1439Alex: Now please answer my first question: Who are you?
1440Kalunia: Yes, that. First I must ask you, foreigner, are you a hu'man?
1441Alex: Indeed I am, but we are called Terrans.
1442Kalunia: Amazing. I never thought I'd see one in tact again.
1443Alex: And you are …?
1444Kalunia: I am Queen Kalunia of the Iildari tribe – or I was the queen until those alien invaders carried me and my nephews off to be tortured on their home planet. We are the only remnants of the Iildari now.
1445Junior: What is Iildari?
1446Nerla: *removes helmet* We are the only elves to make it off Irdya alive.
1447Alex: Wha-bu-aah-ELVES??????
1448Kalunia: Hu'mans are not the only highly adaptive race that spurned on the Mother Planet.
1449Alex: Wh … all this time … I had no idea!
1450Kam: Well, now you know. Come, let us make alliance together. We would be grateful if you would take us from here to a new place. Then we may hear your side of the story.
1451Alex: Agreed, for I may have need of your knowledge of such machinery in the future.
1452
1453Factory Sighted
1454Alex: There's the factory.
1455Voltimand: Actually, my scanner detects two.
1456Alex: Then we shall destroy them both.
1457
1458Iildari Are Found Before Factories Are Destroyed
1459Alex: Now we must destroy the remaining factories.
1460
1461Factories Are Destroyed Before Iildari Are Found
1462Voltimand: We've demolished the compounds, Alex. Now let us attend to the distress signal we received.
1463
1464Factory Destroyed (1st time)
1465Unit: This hunk of scrap will not be churning out any death-bots for a good while.
1466
1467Factory Destroyed (2nd time)
1468Unit: This one's down.
1469
1470Victory
1471Alex: Let us depart.
1472
1473
1474 Scenario 15: The Return (talk only)
1475
1476Story Text
1477Back to the Home System …
1478
1479Bob: I see you have returned successful, Al. Congrats! Who are those fellows you've brought with you?
1480Alex: Yo, Bob the Mighty! I've never been happier to see you. These 3 are the remnants of the long lost elves of Irdya! We found them!
1481Bob: *disappointed* Oh.
1482Alex: *blinks* What?
1483Bob: You expected me to be leaping for joy and doing the floss? Since the beginning of time the elves were unfair to our kind. I wouldn't have been too sorry if they didn't survive
1484Voltimand: That was millennia ago I assume! Are you dwarths naturally this obstinate, or do you work hard at it?
1485Bald'r: It's not healthy for you to live that way, your Majesty.
1486Bob: I know, but …
1487Kalunia: If you will not have us, we will gladly find some other place to make use of our great knowledge and skills.
1488Voltimand: Let it be clear that any refugees, regardless of race, are welcome here.
1489Junior: Yeah, dad. Give them a chance. If nothing else, that Nerla Starling is a hottie.
1490Nerla: *looks down at him* Eww … just, eww.
1491Bob: Well, as long as I –
1492Narrator: A noise is heard.
1493Junior: What was that?
1494Alex: Call me crazy, but that sounds strangely familiar …
1495Kaon: Hearken ye to the Prophet of the Epochs!
1496Alex: Aw, not again! Why don't you just crawl into a hole somewhere?!? Can't you leave us alone?!
1497Kaon: Heed my words, arrogant human! Do you wish to destroy the barrier between the ages and bring an end to the entire universe?! The continuum is already damaged as it stands. If you were wise, you would listen carefully to what I tell you.
1498
1499The Vendeeni are returning to lay waste to this sector.
1500Voltimand Where have we heard this before?
1501Kaon: I mean it! You must make haste! Pack all of your belongings and find a safe place to take refuge. I will guide you.
1502Bob: *shakes his head* Nu-uh. Now way. No way at all. Listen, I don't know who you think you are, but we are not entitled to obey your every commands. We aren't gonna leave our homes just like that! We've built an empire here, and if these Venda-whatevers you speak of want this place, they'll have to fight us to get it!
1503Nerla: Pardon me for interrupting, but what is Vendeeni?
1504Alex: *shows her a picture on a hologram* Feast your eyes on this beauty. As you can see, they look quite weak, but in swarms they are deadly.
1505Kalunia: Great Ganthet! I recognize that creature. Alexander, these are the creatures that took us captive all those decades ago! They were the reason why we build those androids for defense My people call them “violasps.â€
1506
1507If they are coming to devour this world, then this strange prophet's command is ours to follow. I know their nature. They are a juggernaut that cannot be stopped.
1508Bob: Spoken like a true milksop! Just because they kidnapped you from your home, your response is to put your tail between your legs and lick the ground before them? Disgusting!
1509Kalunia: What is truly disgusting, blockhead, his your false bravado. You have never faced this threat nor faced the pain of loosing your whole civilization and so you see this as a joke! I swear your pride will be the death of you someday.
1510Alex: Quiet! Now let's think this through. Kalunia, in both of our first encounters with the Vendeeni, we fought alone. You now have the Terran army, the might of the Dwartha Empire, plus the aid of Voltimand Stingger (my cousin) on your side. All of us together should be more than a match for some stinkin' beehive.
1511Kaon: You are a presumptuous lot. You do not see what I do. You have no chance against them. I am the only one here who has seen the entire Vendeeni colony. Why do you chose not to listen to reason? It is my desire to protect you!
1512Alex: Then join us in the fight since you feel so strongly about this problem. I am a witness to your power. You alone can wipe out a fourth of them, if you ever decided to do something about it!
1513Kaon: I cannot interfere militarily in the battles of the past. Not only does it go against the laws of the Timekeepers, it would alter the time-space continuum in an unknown number of ways.
1514Alex: So when you tried to force my father and I into that time capsule – that wasn't a military interference?
1515Kaon: …
1516
1517As I said, he was a threat to the bridge between our worlds.
1518Alex: *sigh* I cannot afford to uproot my people again. I will stay and fight. Who's with me?
1519Bob: I am.
1520
1521The Empire will assist in any way it can.
1522Voltimand: Though I naturally detest your stubbornness and natural love for carnage, I also can not bear the thought of venturing into the unknown for decades on a dozen space ships again. I will fight.
1523Alex: Listen, Iildari, I understand your reluctance and fear, but there is no guarantee that we will ever find a home better than the one we have now.
1524Kalunia: There is also no guarantee that we will win the coming battle, hu'man.
1525Alex: True, but don't you see how well prepared we are for that possibility? Look around, Himinbjorg is well fortified, and my army has never been stronger. Fight with us, and take your revenge for what the Vendeeni did to your race. Stare into their souls and show them what is the fate of those who dare to challenge the last of the elves of Irdya.
1526Kalunia: Well, since you put it that way …
1527
1528Very well, we agree to give this a chance. One chance. That's all you get.
1529Kaon: Fools! Even if your numbers were multiplied by 10 thousand, you would still be outnumbered! When will you listen to reason?!?!
1530Alex: *smiles* One day in the distant future. See you on the other side *winks* Voltimand?
1531Voltimand: Adios, freak! *hacks Kaon's quantum modulator*
1532Kaon: NOOOOOOOOO!!!
1533Alex: Good timing. Captain Allen-Ester and Capricornus Alcor, I need you to prepare both fleets immediately.
1534April: On it, sir.
1535Capricornus: Sir, it's on!
1536Bob: Bald'r, tell Phaestus to churn out as many defense products as biologically possible. And bring me my pie!
1537
1538
1539 Scenario 16: The Return (part 2)
1540
1541Story Text
1542In the space of the next few weeks, the stoic defenders set in order their ramparts for what was to come. Many a face was grim in expectation of what could be their last battle.
1543
1544Alex and his cousin were perhaps the most sullen of them all, knowing what burden they were putting on their people together – perhaps the very first executive decision that they would ever agree on.
1545
1546With Kaon's words ringing in their heads, the Terrans, Iildari, and Dwartha prepared for battle.
1547
1548Intro Dialogue
1549Scout: First hostile has been spotted folks!
1550Voltimand: Good. We'll call him “Daveâ€. He will be the first to fall in this great, epic Battle of the Ages!
1551Kalunia: Isn't that for Kaon to decide?
1552Alex: Today is a good day to play laser tag, friends. Let's give them all we have!
1553Bald'r: And remember that our first phase of this battle must be defensive. Once they exhaust themselves, we may attempt to push forward.
1554Alex: Agreed. Raise your weapons, men and women! Our Great Star will remain shinning when this is over!
1555
1556Turn ?
1557Alex: Oh no! Is this – is this truly happening again?1
1558Grease: Chief, the star is collapsing as ours did before!
1559Kalunia: This is a disaster! I knew we would've been better off if we heeded the Prophet!
1560Voltimand: Alex, this star is twice the size of the one in our old home system. There's no way we could make it our of range of the impending supernova in time! All is lost!
1561Bald'r: Don't loose hope so easily, comrades Al, do you remember when Bob told you about the amazing abilities of the Dwartha Mothership? Well, our star is currently being drained of it's energy by anti-matter that seems to be the Vendeeni's secret weapon. The supply of reactant gasses will be inhibited, and the star will effectively suffocate.
1562Bob: Talk about a Disney ending for all of us. Now what's it got to do with my ship?
1563Bald'r: Well, if we can somehow reverse the structure of the anti-matter into true matter, it will only serve to fuel the star further. The only such device that can reciprocate particles into their opposites in the universe is actually in the Mothership. If it gets close enough, it can “cure†the star.
1564Alex: An interesting concept. What's the catch?
1565Bald'r: Well, the matter reciprocator can only be activated by the Emperor himself for safety reasons.
1566
1567There is also the chance that the Mothership won't be able to get far enough away from the star in time to avoid being melted by it's heat.
1568Voltimand: What do you say Bob? We don't have much time.
1569Bob: I'll do it. I would gladly risk my life for my family, people and friends, (althought I have no intention on dying).
1570
1571Beam me up, Scottie!
1572
1573Bob (in the Mothership) Moves adjacent the Sun
1574Bob: I made it! Beginning anti-matter reciprocation process. This might take a while …
1575Alex: Take your time. The rest of us will continue fighting.
1576
15773 Turns Later
1578Bob: Uh-oh, the alternating device working a bit too fast …
1579Delay
1580Bob: I'm detecting an anomaly! This thing's out of control!!! The star is heating up too fast! I won't make it!
1581Junior: No! Father, you can't die!
1582Bob: There's no way I can make it our of here alive, son! Al, I hope you've trained Junior well, for he will become the leader of the Empire from this day.
1583Alex: But there has to be something done to help you! There simply must!
1584Bob: I WON'T MAKE IT ALEX!!!
1585silence
1586Bob: Kalunia, it looks like you prophesied the truth. Farewell.
1587
1588And Al? You can eat that pumpkin pie now.
1589
1590AAAAAAAUGH!!!!!
1591Junior: NOOOOOOO!
1592Alex: We have lost a true hero today, but he has, in one act of valor, spared us all and bought us precious time.
1593Kalunia: Rest in peace, Emperor. Oh how I wish I had not spoken those words upon you and that we could've been friends.
1594Voltimand: We will mourn him later. We must now use his death to motivate us to vengeance upon the heads of the Vendeeni!
1595
1596Victory
1597Alex: We have won, but what a great price this victory has cost us. Today, it cost me a friend.
1598Junior: *sobbing* And me, my father.
1599Bald'r: It has cost us an emperor.
1600Kalunia: I have lost faith in myself.
1601Voltimand: We have all lost something, but be reminded that we have retained much more. Let us forever be grateful to Bob the Mighty, a Legend of Valor.
1602
1603 Scenario 17: Help from an Enemy
1604
1605Story Text
1606With their Emperor dead, the Dwartha crowned Bobby the Young as his successor. Bob Jr. was quite concerned about his assumed lack of preparation for such a burden, stating that he wished he had spent less time clubbing and more time learning to be a leader. Bald'r Dash assured him that he would lend his wisdom to him as he did his father.
1607
1608The funeral for the great Emperor was outlandish and the monument erected in his honor even more so.
1609
1610The next few months for the people of this sector were spent cleaning up the wreckage that the Vendeeni made on their planets and counting the many, many losses. Besides that, the sector was in peace for a while. That is, until an almost forgotten fortune teller returned from the future to their world once more …
1611
1612Intro Dialogue
1613Voltimand: Alex, I need to speak with you.
1614Alex: *dryly* Oh I am leaping with joy … what do you want?
1615Voltimand: It's about time we had democracy.
1616Alex: Volt, we talked about this –
1617Voltimand: Dhat! Let me finish. Come on, cousin. Don't you think the people have earned it? They fought –
1618Strange Sound
1619Kaon: Hearken ye to the Prophet of the Epochs!
1620Alex: Oh for scrying with a hand-made crystal ball!!! What is it that you want from me now? Wait, don't tell me. Another Vendeeni invasion is on it's way and we're doomed. Is that it?!?!
1621Kaon: Not so. I have come to make peace with you.
1622Voltimand: You're apologizing?
1623Kaon: Certainly not, for it is beneath my to grovel. But before I left for my home in the present time (your future), I said to myself, “If it is the least bit possible that they have done the impossible and survived the onslaught, I will return unto them and gift them with new knowledge. Knowledge of the only way to be rid of the Vendeeni forever.†You have indeed cheated fate and emerged victorious, though with great loss. I sincerely share your grief over the loss of the Dwartha Emperor. He will be sorely missed in all of the worlds, great and small.
1624Voltimand: Uh-huh … you said something about a way to be rid of the Vendeeni forever?
1625Kaon: Yes. You see, in my many centuries of exploration of all the worlds of the universe – not to mention travels through the corriodors of time itself – I have amassed an extensive knowledge of the strenghts and weaknesses of every creature that exists. The list of weaknesses may interest you most at this point in time. You humans, for example, are weak to the anti-matter. The Amphitrites are subject to heat. The Vulcans fear the cold. And the Vendeeni can be dispatched by one thing: a beam of radiation from the Neutron Construct. It is small enough to be held in the human hand, but as one of the 10 most powerful artifacts in all of the worlds, it's radiation beams (called Pulsars) are so concentrated that they can burn the retinas of the Vendeeni. This is why they despise all manner of stars.
1626Bald'r: Interesting.
1627Alex: And why didn't you tell us of this earlier?
1628Kaon: As aforementioned, it is against the code of the Timekeepers' Guild to interfere in this way. In fact, it is very likely that I have put my own life in danger, as the other Timekeepers do not take lightly to infractions of their code.
1629Voltimand: So where is this Neutron Construct?
1630Kaon: That question presents another problem. The question is not “whereâ€, but rather “when.†You see, I took the artifact from it's sacred place to add it to the Timekeepers' collection around 500 years ago. Later, it got destroyed by one of their rebel members.
1631Kalunia: So … you're saying that we must travel back in time … to stop you from taking the Neutron Construct?
1632Kaon: Precisely To be safe,i will travel with you – if not to make sure that the time-shift goes smoothly, to ensure that you do no major harm to my younger self, else I will cease to exist.
1633Alex: Perhaps only our army should go. That is, if our fleet is in good enough condition. April, how are we lookin'?
1634April: Some of the maintenance is still underway, but most of the crafts should be ready by sundown.
1635Alex: Perfect. Iildari, are you coming?
1636Kam: WE did say we were indebted to you didn't we?
1637Alex: Very well then. Kaon, you may now activate your portal thingy.
1638Kaon: One more word of caution, this action may further rupture the time-space continuum, so we must be exceedingly careful where we step.
1639Alex: Got it.
1640
1641 Scenario 18: Black Hole Junction
1642
1643Story Text
1644The bulk of the Terran Army set off once more, lead by the mysterious time traveler, Kaon. They timidly stepped into Kaon's time machine – something they had never before seen – and warped away into another dimension. Traveling through time itself was exhilarating to Alexander and his colleges and, as much as he tried to stay focused, he became swept away with the wonder of it all along with everyone else.
1645
1646When the fleet emerged on the other side, the self acclaimed Prophet of the Epochs informed them of the location of the Neutron Construct before he stole it centuries ago. He told them of the Temple of Gallatron, a shrine where the artifact was guarded by strange alien devotees. The Chief commanded the fleet to set course for the temple at once. However, Captain Allen-Ester spotted a major obstacle ahead …
1647
1648Intro Dialogue
1649April: The Antila's radar is detecting a black hole just ahead, Alex!
1650Kaon: There are dozens in fact.
1651Alex: What?!?!? Where are we?!
1652Kaon: Black Hole Junction. Should I have mentioned this before? Oops.
1653Voltimand: You most certainly should've! I thought we were headed straight for the Temple of Gallatron! I swear, if you're crossing us –
1654Kaon: Certainly not! Are you primitives always so simple minded? You can't possibly believe that a Timekeeper such as I would use such barbaric tactics! And furthermore, if I beamed us to the same location that I did 500 years ago, I'd cause an anomaly in the time bridge that would cause us to arrive in a completely different world.
1655
1656Now if this Captain is as skilled as you say she is, she should be able to avoid the few dozen black holes in this area. The planet on which the Temple lies is just beyond them.
1657
1658A Ship get Sucked In by a Black Hole
1659Unit: AAAAAAHHH!!!
1660
1661Alien Ship are Sighted
1662April: What are those things?
1663Kaon: Perhaps the angry and territorial inhabitants of this place?
1664Capricornus: This day just gets better and better.
1665
1666Victory
1667Kaon: This is it. Let us proceed.
1668
1669 Scenario 19: Temple of Gallatron
1670
1671Intro Dialogue
1672Kaon: Here we are, fellows. Just as I promised, the Temple of Gallatron lies before us.
1673Alex: I can hardly believe this whole journey is almost over.
1674Voltimand: Not so fast, cousin. Kaon, what did you say were the guardians of the Neutron Construct?
1675Kaon: They are called Psi-eyes by the Timekeepers. They are powerful, but fragile. They may not be our biggest concern …
1676A Familiar Sound is Heard
1677Kaon: Oh, no.
1678Young Kaon: We have arrived, brothers. The Temple of Gallatron. Let us obtain the artifact and take it to the Timekeepers' Guild … what's this? Who goes there?!
1679Kaon: Listen carefully, Kaon. You must leave the Temple immediately. And do not resist us. We have need of the very artifact that you seek.
1680Young Kaon: But who are you?
1681Kaon: I am … you. Just older … and wiser …
1682Young Kaon: If that is what I am destined to look like, then I am in no hurry to age.
1683Voltimand: *chuckles*
1684Young Kaon: Listen, one who calls himself me from the future, I know not what got into you, but I received direct orders from the Guild to acquire the Neutron Construct. Therefore I must obey, regardless of what you say to me.
1685Kaon: It is I who wonders what got into you. My acquaintance, Alexander Stormwaal, son of the great Parson MacIntyre, and his people have need of it to have any chance of survival in their sector.
1686Young Kaon: A son of Parson MacIntyre you say? That name is familiar to me. *searching on hand-held device* Parson MacIntyre, human, black hair and eyes, totalitarian ruler of the ancient Wesnothians, looks unbelievably similar to Idris Elba, fond of a certain method of psychological training called “mulling†… that Parson MacIntyre?
1687Kaon: Yes, that is him.
1688Kaon: Well, the heads of the Timkeepers' Guild say that his progeny is the largest threat to the perfect preservation of the time-space continuum, and that they were supposed to be destroyed in the Apocalypse of Irdya.
1689Kaon: I know that very well. But do you (or rather, I) really believe that the perfection of the continuum is worth more than the life of entire civilizations? These are not normal humans, elves, or dwarths, Me from the Past. They have cheated fate many times. I sense something very special about these people. Perhaps it is that Fortune herself has taken a liking to them.
1690Kaon: I care not. And frankly, I am appalled that I could possibly grow to be this weak and soft. This is not what the Timekeepers train for. I wouldn't be surprised if you have been corrupted by one of the deadly Emote Diseases. But enough talk, if you want the Construct, you'll have to go through me to get it!
1691Voltimand: *to Kaon* That wen well. So, since your attempt to sway the mind of your young self failed …
1692Kaon: *sigh* I can't remember ever being that stubborn … well, I guess we have no choice but to fight … me.
1693Alex: I don't mind it one bit. Besides, we've beat you before.
1694Kaon: For the record, I was going easy on you.
1695
1696Attack Orcs
1697Unit: Kaon, what are orcs doing in this temple?
1698Kaon: Very much like the Vendeeni, the orcs are now an infestation in this galaxy. They have journeyed to the far corners of the universe, with their large numbers outweighing their inevitable deaths 2 to1. Perhaps one day the Timekeepers will employ me to travel back in time to prevent the first Parson MacIntyre from taking those drudges into space … but I'm not sure if I could bring myself to use lethal force against him. But it would be either that, or be killed by the Guild's trained assassins.
1699Voltimand: What's the deal with those Timekeepers anyway?
1700Kaon: It is best not to disclose any information that will put me in further danger …
1701
1702Defeat Young Kaon
1703Unit: Leave here, or be vaporized!
1704Young Kaon: You win, rebels. I will now go.
1705
1706I hope that you are proud of yourself, Me from the Future. The continuum is no doubt damaged beyond repair and the worlds will all be merged into one! You (or rather, me) will bring destruction upon us all and I won't live long enough to do it myself!!!
1707Kaon: Fear not, Kaon. I have taken precautions as not to allow that to happen. I will let you go.
1708
1709Seize Neutron Construct
1710Unit: I have it! It is indeed radiant and heavy.
1711Kaon: Make sure you hold it in the right manner, and whatever you do, DO NOT DROP IT!
1712
1713Now let us be going.
1714Alex: And could you please show us another way back? Y'know, one that doesn't involve black holes, preferably.
1715Kaon: You have a deal.
1716
1717 Scenario 20: Operation Sunlight
1718
1719Story Text
1720With the precious artifact in hand, Kaon teleported the whole army back to Terra with it's power.
1721
1722Back with the Dwarths, the Terran strategists (Alex included) began to devise a plan to defeat the Vendeeni once and for all. They decided that they were done playing cat and mouse, and that they were to take the fight right to the invaders' doorstep. Junior, however, was doubtful that they would find the enemy's HQ in time to launch a preemptive strike. Thankfully, Kaon provided the coordinates for the Vendeeni's Hive Core and the chamber in which their Queen, the Vendeeni Overlord, resided.
1723
1724When asked if he would join the fight for freedom and peace, Kaon stated that he first had to travel back to his home to explain his actions to the heads of the Timekeeper's Guild, but would return if he had the time. His last admonition to the heroes was that only the Neutron Construct could effectively kill the Vendeeni Overlord.
1725
1726With little time to spare, the vengeful warriors of Sector 1 set off to do battle with those that took from them many loved ones. To them, it was win or die.

1732
1733Kalunia, as the Vendeeni robbed you of your home and people, you do the same to that of the Vendeeni Overlord.
1734
1735April, Capricornus, I know you two had problems in the past, but only by working together can you succeed Use your great gifts and weapons to protect the transport, and strike fear in the hearts of the whole colony.

1739And Voltimand …
1740
1741Just … do … you.
1742Voltimand: *evil smile*

1764April: Hey Alex?
1765Alex: Yes?
1766April: *welling tears* Whatever you do … come back to us.
1767Alex: That I will. I promise.
1768Voltimand: *whispers* You sure you can guarantee that?
1769Alex: … Not in the least. But she knows that. Let's go.

1808
1809 Epilogue
1810
1811And so was the tale of the brave heroes of Home Sector 1. but it goes far beyond the war with the Vendeeni …
1812
1813Junior, now called Bobby the Valiant, assumed the throne of the Dwartha Empire with confidence, and Bald'r Dash as his counselor. Not only did he continue to expand the Empire, he also gratefully welcomed the Iildari into his kingdom (though he had considerable trouble with trying to flirt with Nerla).
1814
1815The Iildari themselves felt comfortable in their new surroundings, but felt a desire to return to their rightful place in hopes that somehow, someway. They would find more of their kind. After a few months with the Empire, the three elvish remnants left the sector. Emperor Bobby felt deep down that he would never see them again.
1816
1817Kaon, the Prophet of the Epochs lived in Terra-2's capital for a few months, then disappeared, never to be seen or heard from again.
1818
1819Meanwhile, the Terrans themselves were in for a very dramatic change in social order …
1820
1821Voltimand Stingger's vision for a completely democratic Terra-2 was a far too tempting concept for the people to resist. Soon enough, there were riots and protest of the citizens demanding capitalism in the streets of every city and town. In order to prevent a revolutionary dispute, Alexander Stormwaal (despite all of his heroics during the Vendeeni War) was forced to step down as High Chief.
1822
1823Voltimand, feeling halfway sorry for his cousin, took the time to explain the notion of a nation ruled by itself. Alex finally agreed that it was in the best interest of the people at this point in time to govern themselves.
1824
1825In the beginning of the next year, elections were held for new legislative bodies, namely the Free Market Assembly, which would preside over the planet's economic affairs, the Council of War, which would regulate the nation's defense and production of arms, and the Chamber of National Law, whose job it was to make laws and keep peace within it's borders.
1826
1827Elections were also held for a special executive position, namely Chairman of the Terran Society. 8 candidates were chosen, Alex and Voltimand being two of them. Some people felt that Alex was best fit since he was the one who lead them to victory over the Vendeeni and that Voltimand was a shady, scheming upstart with an agenda. Others believed the Stingger to be a man of the future and a man of the people in comparison to Stormwaal's preference of the archaic, hereditary rule system.
1828
1829In the end, Voltimand won the election over Stormwaal by 122 votes. Some way that he utilized his ability as a hacker to rig the election. No one will ever know …
1830
1831Alex personally gave the new Chairman one final word of warning about the revolution. He stated that, unless caution was taken, a revolution by definition would always take you right back to where you started. After this, the former High Chief retired to a small town where he lead a quiet life for a few years. Strangely, Captain Allen-Ester retired from her position that same year. It is rumored that they married, had a small wedding (just the two of them and a priest), built a large home and had a daughter. Bu, as aforementioned, it has not yet been confirmed.
1832
1833The Neutron Construct was kept in a vault, the location of which is a secret closely guarded by Chairman Stingger's secret agents.
1834
1835Normally, a tale like this would end with “And they lived happily ever after,†but such is not the case for those living in Home Sector 1, as their troubles seem endless. But of those bound be heroism and determination who will rise above their challenges, many a legend will be penned. But those are stories for the future. Stories of a World to Come.
