1ncr-lieutenant
2Howdy howdy and hello welcome to my show
3
4gwinnetts
5hi!
6
7ncr-lieutenant
8So mind if I ask how ya found my blog? I wanna know what I'm doing that works.
9
10gwinnetts
11you followed me first, and i'm friends with remnantrecruit and america-redefined, so i heard about you and decided to follow back
12
13ncr-lieutenant
14Rad
15So ya here for the mega-enclave arc I'm plotting out too?
16Because I'm planning a bit of an enclave arc beat
17gwinnetts
18i havent heard anything abt your plotting, i just decided to follow back and see what happened LOL
19
20ncr-lieutenant
21bodacious
22still wanna hear the
23EPIC PLOT?
24
25gwinnetts
26sure!
27
28ncr-lieutenant
29this may seem unrelated but its where I got the visual inspiration for it
30https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KK4UFhfZkQ
31Enter, Junior Director Burress of the DIA
32
33gwinnetts
34im on mobile so i cant watch it atm
35
36ncr-lieutenant
37Imagine Hannibal Burress in a suit like Morpheus.
38https://66.media.tumblr.com/33c7a1ba0c9ca19f6247631682918ac5/tumblr_messaging_pmpa0gp2Px1wywjjo_400.png
39So, JD Burress has some plans for the Enclave
40And its centered around the institute, but more specifically some tech of theirs
41Tech the institute is misusing to such a foolish extent
42I'm of course talking about their magical meat pit that can create people
43Burress wants to either take over their meat pit, or acquire the blueprints and materials for the Enclave to make their own
44He then plans to start rebuilding America.
45With the synths and enclave personnel as 1st class citizens, and wasters and muties as 2nd class citizens.
46He's a lot less genocidal than the previous president was.
47Currently he's accruing local Enclave remnants and runaway synths to his cause.
48
49gwinnetts
50how did he find out about the how the indtitute makes synths? thats not a common knowledge thing
51(slow responses and typos bc mobile amd at walmart)
52
53ncr-lieutenant
54Enclave personnel managed to intercept some Institute nerds.
55They really shouldn't leave their little hole in the ground.
56And they've corroborated the intel gained from that interrogation with the runaway synths they've encountered.
57The runaways didn't have as much useful info as that in specifics though, due to the mind wipe effect.
58
59gwinnetts
60canonically, they usually dont... where is he operating out of?
61(they being the scientists i mean)
62
63ncr-lieutenant
64The Switchboard
65Its DIA property, has all their equipment, just in need of repairs. And dusting.
66Hm, the "why" might need some fine tuning.
67But another possible reason could be all those energy signals you could read from DC with BOS tech alone
68And the Enclave could very possibly have the tech on their hands to sense those readings.
69
70gwinnetts
71(brb a mo)
72
73ncr-lieutenant
74(kk)
75
76gwinnetts
77do you have a timeline worked put yet? (i... love timelines fksmf and use them to plot out my rp a lot)
78
79ncr-lieutenant
80Hm currently I just have Burress sending emails onto people's terminals or showing up in person
81So far the plot is like this
82
83gwinnetts
84also, nathan-mun mentioned you're the one who sent him the anons, are those being treated as canon for the plot? i ask bc idk how that would work, since the internet was never a thing in canon, and while there are emails, its only in intranets
85
86ncr-lieutenant
87Ya those were part of it
88Hm well I'm pretty sure there are factions able to communicate over distance?
89Darn this is a pickle ain't it
90
91gwinnetts
92the east and west BoS dont seem to have much communications, just very few (veronica knowing abt the outcasts)
93
94ncr-lieutenant
95Oh but the BoS on coast to coast is its own pickle isn't it?
96Due to their, well. Fragmented nature.
97
98gwinnetts
99what kind of problem do you mean? (clarification question)
100
101ncr-lieutenant
102Like their communication problem, the BOS
103I think that really comes down to how split up they are.
104
105gwinnetts
106whatever communications they'd have would have to be through something like radio
107
108ncr-lieutenant
109Hmmm i'm trying to think of reasons the Enclave was able to send that email then.
110Is it possible to say the email has been constructed post-war?
111
112gwinnetts
113nope, bc the internet never existed
114even if it did idk how theyd find nathan since hes in the institute and they'd be on their own systems
115
116ncr-lieutenant
117Hmmm sending someone down there to slip a chip in his terminal?
118Yeah there's some issues here with the basis
119Gotta smooth out the rough edges
120
121gwinnetts
122also brb/bbl again, checkout then headed home
123
124ncr-lieutenant
125Possible they sent back the scientist they interrogated
126Told him to slip a chip into Nathan's terminal
127or bad things would happen
128also kk
129Oh wait the interweb exists in Fallout 1
130Its local but, that could be modified
131
132gwinnetts
133(also im sorry if im sounding critical/being a party pooper fkdjgm i like brainstorming and play as close to canon as possible)
134
135ncr-lieutenant
136(no its good to work these things out)
137(like it could be that scientist they bullied slipped a chip into Nathan's terminal and is complicit)
138and I think the enclave and the bigger factions like the NCR working out a proto-web could open up some interesting possibilties
139Like communication across the east and west
140
141ncr-lieutenant
142such as sending pictures of an ncr officer dabbing to every living being with a terminal
143
144gwinnetts
145i'll be able to articulate the ideas i'm having in a bit, just a heads up abt a lack of proper response for a bit, not feeling super great atm and its a half hour+ drive home (and i get carsick so even tho im not driving i wont be able to reply)
146
147ncr-lieutenant
148is fine
149
150gwinnetts
151okay now i'm home and settled. ahhh, full keyboard
152
153ncr-lieutenant
154woo
155its 4:30 am for meee
156i'm pretty tired and my head aches like. super horrid. I might pass out soon just saiyin.
157
158gwinnetts
159no worries! i understand, its 3:30am here
160okay so — while yeah, the idea of injecting the internet into the fallout setting would be interesting, it's not one i'm personally interested in, since i like to stick so close to canon. a lot of the assumptions about communication in the setting are done with the concept of no internet in mind, so changing that one thing would change... quite a lot, actually. here's what i think would work better...
161the idea of having a holotape inserted into nathan's terminal has merit, since it'd be similar to tinker tom's holotape that you run in the institute to get a hold of patriot. but i dunno if an institute scientist who had been kidnapped and tortured would actually go through with it -- once inside the institute, there'd be no way to force them back out, so it'd be difficult to enforce whatever bad things they'd been threatened with, so it'd be more likely they'd just run right to shaun and blab
162instead, i think a better option would be to set up a plant. the institute is known in canon for taking in people from the surface, so if someone enclave-affiiliated was set up properly to catch their attention in a good way, then there'd ba good likelihood that they'd be *invited* in
163
164ncr-lieutenant
165Hmmm I was about to suggest that they convinced the lab tech guy that the enclave had a winning philosophy
166but sending one of their own guys in probably works better
167After all their pro-synth philosophy probably wouldn't win too many people down there
168
169gwinnetts
170and then they could make contact with any sympathisers (likely very unexpected for nathan to be down there unless they got intel from nathan's remnant group) radio messages back out
171
172ncr-lieutenant
173oh yeah like
174burress has checked in with all of Nathan's group first before him
175he's got four of them signed up for the new DIA base
176
177gwinnetts
178(me and nathan-mun developed the group together LOL)
179
180ncr-lieutenant
181One said nah because ethics and another said nah because he's old and wants to be retired
182Burress probably did something nice and requested a medal mailed to him
183Gotta make sure folks don't feel tossed aside y'know
184
185gwinnetts
186i play one of the members in nathan's group and he's honestly both the most likely person to be able to pull off that particular mission and the least likely person to be talked into going along with buress' plans
187
188ncr-lieutenant
189which one is that?
190Is it the railroad one?
191
192gwinnetts
193idk if you've looked at my character info, but you can read up on him here https://crowspy.tumblr.com/post/176185409739/verse-fallout-cliffnotes
194(that's his old blog before i moved him, and all my other muses, to this multimuse)
195his tag on this blog can be found here http://gwinnetts.tumblr.com/tagged/muse-%3A-bellamy-rook-%3B%3B-always-carry-a-switchblade-and-ibuprofen/
196there are some headcanon posts in there once you get past the musings/aesthetics
197
198ncr-lieutenant
199So like
200When Burress approaches Rook
201Tells him his plans and his dream for the Enclave
202What do you think Rook's initial response is gonna be?
203
204gwinnetts
205it would really really really depend on how he was approached and how the whole thing went down. bellamy actively makes sure that no one in the commonwealth outside of his remnant group know he was enclave, and he's *very* paranoid, so the initial point of contact would affect his reactions
206if buress admitted he found out through the group he'd be less likely to immediately book it
207
208ncr-lieutenant
209That's the whole group that was with Lone right?
210Because Burress's made a point to have them as part of the operation. He thinks if he shows them "hey, no retribution, your friends are okay and they're onboard" that it'll produce positive results.
211Its also a powerplay
212Burress likes making big impressions
213
214gwinnetts
215yeah, that group specifically. bellamy is a large part of the reason why they were able to integrate into the commonwealth
216
217ncr-lieutenant
218Which is why he's got big guys in power armor following him around
219So lets see the people burress is going to have flanking him as he approaches rook...
220
221gwinnetts
222i can guarantee that most of the group wouldn't have good things to say about bellamy LOL i'm assuming that three of the ones that buress successfully recruited are louis, regan, and torvald?
223louis and bellamy worked together and like each other okay. bellamy actively antagonises torvald, and slightly less actively antagonises regan
224(only slightly bc she's more scary)
225also if buress tried to come up to bellamy with a power armored guard in tow, bellamy would be gone
226LOL, he's a pain in the ass
227
228ncr-lieutenant
229Hm so bellamy would see a power armored guy and just book it like
230
231gwinnetts
232if buress is more likely to try his usual avenue of approach before consulting the group for suggestions, then there's a high chance that he just straight up won't be able to find bellamy
233
234ncr-lieutenant
235"oh shit they must've thought I deserted"
236
237gwinnetts
238he keeps his ear to the ground and is 100% prepared to ditch any living situation at first sign of any kind of trouble
239
240ncr-lieutenant
241well burress certainly would've asked the group about the proper approach
242
243gwinnetts
244well, bellamy wouldn't necessarily think "they must think i deserted," because he thinks the enclave is entirely gone
245he'd be more likely to see power armor and think brotherhood
246
247ncr-lieutenant
248also I got the ones
249torvald
250reagan
251louis
252and cinwell
253
254gwinnetts
255i dont think cinwell was part of the original group BUT its possible ive just forgotten something, and that detail isnt terribly important atm. okay so like
256
257ncr-lieutenant
258Also wouldn't power armor that's clearly XO and in enclave paintjob like
259Make it clear that they're not BOS tho
260
261gwinnetts
262oh LMAO bellamy would definitely flee because he doesnt want to be remotely associated with the enclave, not publically in his current persona
263nathan-mun handles the rest of the group, but i imagine louis would suggest that they contact bellamy through their usual radio channel and/or that louis himself be the one to make initial contact, since bellamy is so skittish
264and then arranging a meeting with buress at a random location from there
265
266ncr-lieutenant
267Hm so we start the RP off where like
268The initial contact's already been done then
269Their base is at the switchboard but should probably meet somewhere else first
270
271gwinnetts
272yyyy, and then start off with the meeting at the location
273
274ncr-lieutenant
275Just to be safe
276
277gwinnetts
278yeah bellamy wouldn't agree to meet at their base for like twelve different reasons
279
280ncr-lieutenant
281Or meet at the switchboard?
282Oh yeah because
283Might be a trap
284
285gwinnetts
286yyyyyyup
287
288ncr-lieutenant
289Hm what's a good secure place to meet up
290
291gwinnetts
292it'd be a thing where he'd want to pick the location, and it'd be some bombed out rando place in the wasteland
293
294ncr-lieutenant
295Pick a place on the map yo
296
297gwinnetts
298o7 one moment
299
300ncr-lieutenant
301Lets get this party started hey lets get it started hah
302(remember the 90s )
303
304gwinnetts
305https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Police_Precinct_8
306why yes that's very near multiple super mutant dens why do you ask (its on purpose)
307(i had to pick a location based on bellamy's 940859 requirements, fml)
308
309ncr-lieutenant
310Hmmm
311
312gwinnetts
313i can promise though that bellamy will try to weasel out of it joining as much as possible. he was not happy with the enclave and has effectively gone completely native (as he was rumored to have done back before fo3, since he spent so much time in the field infiltrating) and does not want to go back
314
315ncr-lieutenant
316Burress is really going to want power armored troopers watching the area
317
318gwinnetts
319it's also in an area where diamond city guards are patrolling
320
321ncr-lieutenant
322Burress is quite the politician.
323He's going to try and sell the New Dream to him.
324Don't worry, no genocide here.
325
326gwinnetts
327normally bellamy wouldn't pick somewhere so close to DC since that's where he's been living, but he wants to put pressure on them and have opportunities to slip away if he needs
328
329ncr-lieutenant
330Hm he's probably going to have his troopers disguised due to the nearby locals
331
332gwinnetts
333he thinks that being belly up with DC would discourage big open displays of force, since it'd be a bad idea to draw attention
334
335ncr-lieutenant
336Gotta stay hidden for now
337Probably disguised as... gunners?
338Yeah gunners.
339Oh the gunners are probably prime recruitment fodder as well
340
341gwinnetts
342and then the place itself would have some traps set up in the upper floors, less to catch buress in them, and more to cause a distraction if bellamy decides he needs to retreat
343at which point he has options like the mass pike tunnel and the super mutants and raiders
344
345ncr-lieutenant
346Y'know he's certainly gonna have his troopers scanning the place
347Like Burress is a crafty guy, he didn't become the Junior Director of the DIA for nothin.
348He's a lot more of a thinker than a fighter.
349Not like the institute though.
350He's more clever than booksmart.
351
352gwinnetts
353yyyyy, for sure. bellamy is similar which is why he's worked all of this out, including arriving there hours earlier to set up what he needs (and why he picked such a small location too)
354bellamy is extremely cynical and excessively paranoid bc it's what's kept him alive and safe, even against the rest of the enclave
355
356ncr-lieutenant
357I mean how's Bellamy likely to respond if his smokebombs don't go off when he presses the trigger?
358table flip?
359
360gwinnetts
361it wouldnt really be smoke bombs, tho, it'd be more likely to be something simple that just makes a lot of noise
362
363ncr-lieutenant
364I mean pocket sand could work then
365but burress has Morpheus shades on
366
367gwinnetts
368and tableflipping isn't really a thing he does, esp under stress. he'd be more likely to just go "shit" and run anyway
369and improvise from there
370
371ncr-lieutenant
372Well, so. With all this in mind.
373Burress is probably going to show extreme patience.
374And let him mull it over instead of forcing a choice at the first meeting.
375
376gwinnetts
377that would help a lot, tbh. as long as he didnt feel like he was going to be forced into ... literally anything, he'd be less likely to use his escape plan
378
379ncr-lieutenant
380Burress will probably mention how like
381SGT Granite's been allowed honorable discharge
382And given a big shiny medal
383Y'know to show that you're allowed to retire. Its not ride till you die.
384Burress believes showing more ease will prevent less violent outbursts because someone who wants out might think "if I don't kill them now they'll hunt me down" if its presented as "ride till you die or die if you won't ride"
385
386gwinnetts
387yyyyy, its a good line of thinking
388
389ncr-lieutenant
390Man ain't Burress just such a nice guy
391He isn't even a gene nazi
392
393gwinnetts
394bellamy vc: nice sales pitch, still aint buyin
395
396ncr-lieutenant
397burress: feel free to browse
398I do feel like giving burress a tamed mutant hound tho
399Because they're like giant muscle bound bulldogs
400And I find them adorable
401
402gwinnetts
403i love mutant hounds, theyre so cute
404
405ncr-lieutenant
406Burress is absolutely going to be petting one when rook shows up
407"Her name is Buttercup"
408
409gwinnetts
410LOL you send that as i'm typing "just dont bring it along to this bellamy isnt a big animal person and would think it was a passive threat"
411*i was typing
412
413ncr-lieutenant
414So lesse, our basic plot for the meeting so far is... the Williams are there disguised as gunners along with some other enclavers
415rook meets with burress. burress tells rook his plans to liberate the synths and make them top tier meta.
416
417gwinnetts
418bellamy'd already be at the location when they'd arrive
419
420ncr-lieutenant
421ah, so lesse here
422burress shows up with his dozen gunners aka enclavers
423they take up their positions and start looking the place over, setting up the barricades
424burress starts his meeting with rook, telling him his plans regarding the magical meat pit
425
426gwinnetts
427yyyy. anyone who came in to check the building would find bellamy already there
428
429ncr-lieutenant
430mentions that granite was of course allowed to peacefully retire
431says its a shame rook wasn't there for the medal ceremony
432
433gwinnetts
434(also i was thinking about that, i think itd be easier to be like "they dont know HOW they're making synths, but want the plans for however it is they're doing it")
435
436ncr-lieutenant
437lets him know he doesn't have to make the choice now, but. he can contact burress when he's ready to make a choice.
438hm yeah leaving that a mystery for now? could add more story beats for them to overcome.
439
440gwinnetts
441yyyyyy
442
443ncr-lieutenant
444So they end the meeting with like
445LEaving rook with a two way radio
446Letting him know its up to him to make the choice
447Then everyone leaves for noodles
448
449gwinnetts
450i will say that like, for the idea of basically turning the emails to nathan non-canon for the plot and having bellamy to be the one to contact him instead, where having bellamy agree to play along is required to move forward, the best way to convince him to do the thing would be to address what bellamy would get out of it
451
452ncr-lieutenant
453ten minutes later, a dozen gunners walk into diamond city and order noodle bowls
454
455gwinnetts
456the best ways to get bellamy to do anything are to set him up in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" type situation (which i dont know how we'd do here), or appealing to "this is what you'll get out of doing the thing"
457
458ncr-lieutenant
459Ah, so he doesn't have patriotism no more rip
460Well, guaranteed safety
461
462gwinnetts
463he never had it to begin with, really
464
465ncr-lieutenant
466The Switchboard is back to fully operational standards
467
468gwinnetts
469he is like, the opposite of an idealist, and he never subscribed to the enclave's agenda -- he was ostracized too much growing up which made him distrustful and as he got older critical of the authority in his life (which was... the entire enclave)
470and he never had any friends or family to hook him in
471(his parents died when he was still a baby)
472
473ncr-lieutenant
474Oh another thing Rook gets out of the situation
475The world becomes less crappy
476If the region becomes more civilized that means less randos trying to kill him
477
478gwinnetts
479we'd have to thread out the conversation to see whether or not buress is able to convince bellamy that he's genuine about it
480
481ncr-lieutenant
482Then again he's got a safe hideout in the switchboard anyways so
483gwinnetts
484because buress can say that's his goal until his face turns blue but it doesn't mean he'd believe him
485Hm this is gonna test my writing chops for sure then
486oh how abouuut
487
488gwinnetts
489LOL, i'm sorry he's so difficult
490
491ncr-lieutenant
492showing a good ole synth that they saved?
493Like a success story
494
495gwinnetts
496bellamy is a tourist with the railroad so he's like, "plus one for wanting to help synths, if you're honest about that, but minus ten for still thinking the enclave is cool"
497"and minus fifty for wanting to make wastelanders second rate citizens"
498
499ncr-lieutenant
500Well Burress doesn't want them second rate foreverrr
501But for awhile yes that's staying in place
502Because they haven't yet been safely socialized
503
504gwinnetts
505bellamy: lmao bullshit
506
507ncr-lieutenant
508People need to prove they won't flip out and kill their neighbors over a stolen soda bottle
509
510gwinnetts
511he'll have to lay out his long term plans and have very solid ideas on how to make them happen before bellamy would buy into the concept
512(he's a long-term thinker)
513
514ncr-lieutenant
515He also plans to use the minutemen
516The minutemen show some good initiative
517And morals
518Burress's plans regarding each faction is:
519Minutemen, good. They'll make good citizens.
520
521gwinnetts
522(also thats assuming the minutemen have been built up by the time this happens, since that's reliant on a sosu)
523
524ncr-lieutenant
525Railroad, good. Anarchist but their goals and ours are aligned.
526Oh wait galaxy brain idea
527Rebuild while branded as the minutemen?
528
529gwinnetts
530man that'd be interesting af
531
532ncr-lieutenant
533And technically true
534Minutemen ARE a volunteer organization
535
536gwinnetts
537(also if you don't have any sosus in mind for these things i offer one of mine up)
538(although buress really wouldnt want zetta because zetta would uhhhhhhhh cause problems for him. but)
539
540ncr-lieutenant
541I don't think we have one slated yet
542
543gwinnetts
544(she's also my primary sosu)
545
546ncr-lieutenant
547Also plans for the two remaining factions
548Institute: depends entirely on how they respond to us.
549BOS: That maxson sure has a nice coat... wouldn't it be a shame if
550Even disregarding what the BOS has done to the enclave
551Burress views them as a major threat to rebuilding America
552
553gwinnetts
554lkm;ljkj
555
556ncr-lieutenant
557A paramilitary fiefdom that terrorizes American citizens.
558Burress really does have benevolent goals here.
559He wants to rebuild America.
560Wasters included.
561
562ncr-lieutenant
563They just need to prove they're willing to be civilized.
564
565gwinnetts
566the problem buress is gonna run into with bellamy is that he trusts exactly zero point four bitches, he never liked the enclave and isn't patriotic and can't be moved by patriotic appeals, and he's paranoid as fuck
567i think it's unlikely that buress will be able to convince bellamy to join on the grounds of his ideals
568
569ncr-lieutenant
570Burress knows he's going to have to drop the enclave branding at some point
571Because of the baggage
572And he's already thinking far into the future, when their borders and the NCR's borders meet
573Being labeled as the enclave wouldn't do them any favors then.
574
575gwinnetts
576but some level of practicality might work, as well as appealing to "what will i get out of it"/"damned if you do/damned if you dont"
577
578ncr-lieutenant
579"If you don't help us, this place remains a lawless hellmouth"
580"and your probability of life is. slim"
581
582gwinnetts
583bellamy: sometimes it be like that in this bitch of an earth
584
585ncr-lieutenant
586"help us, and the region becomes far less deadly"
587
588gwinnetts
589bellamy: and i've been doing better without you than with you, champ
590
591ncr-lieutenant
592"which means you are less likely to die"
593"do all the enslaved people not bother you, rook?"
594"Born on American soil, slaves from birth."
595
596gwinnetts
597bellamy: sure but it's not my problem
598no matter what bellamy is going to assume that 1. until he makes his decision, he's going to be watched/spied on, 2. if he turns down the offer he'll STILL be watched, 3. even if buress believes in what he's selling that doesnt mean it won't go sideways and corrupt again
599
600ncr-lieutenant
601"What exactly do you want, rook?"
602"You're important to making sure we can help people."
603
604gwinnetts
605"i want a box of fancy lads"
606
607ncr-lieutenant
608"Well, we can handle that. Jelly filled?"
609
610gwinnetts
611(...be prepared for a lot of flippant responses/etc in this thread btw)
612speaking of tho are you planning on writing the starter or should i?
613
614ncr-lieutenant
615"How about this, Rook. You help us get to Lone, and if you still aren't sold after you help us with that, you're perfectly free to go"
616Hm could you write up a starter tonight?
617Then I can have the minutemen approach the place.
618
619gwinnetts
620yup, i can
621
622ncr-lieutenant
623Maybe if he also poses it as "you only need to help us as long as it takes for you to get us Lone"
624That could help out
625
626gwinnetts
627the minutemen thing also reminded me-- you should review my sosu info and see which one you'd rather have. i do have a preference for zetta, because i've already got CR established between her and nathan specifically
628i have a lot less established about riley's run as a sosu, and elle's ... changes a lot of things
629but zetta is also the most likely to give buress the most trouble
630
631ncr-lieutenant
632what kinda trouble
633
634gwinnetts
635she's very anti-authoritarian and didnt like america to begin with
636
637ncr-lieutenant
638mega oof
639
640gwinnetts
641i've got a thread going with nathan where theyre arguing about murrca
642growing up pre-war with a best friend slash boyfriend slash husband who's asian really made her biased
643
644ncr-lieutenant
645So did Zetta not set up the minuteme?
646
647gwinnetts
648she does, but not from the beginning
649it takes her until she kills kellogg to accept preston's offer
650her info is here http://gwinnetts.tumblr.com/zetta
651
652ncr-lieutenant
653because Story:tm:?
654
655gwinnetts
656history and timeline here http://gwinnetts.tumblr.com/reynoldstime
657she turns preston down at first bc 1. she doesnt like authority(tm), not even having it herself, and 2. preston reminded her too much of her dead husband which made it hard for her to be around him, and 3. she was so focused on getting shaun back
658
659ncr-lieutenant
660Having his enclave be minutemen is gonna hard with this general specifically
661because its a general who doesn't even like armies
662
663gwinnetts
664going through kellogg's memories is a turning point in her characterization as noted in her about info, and she starts to accept the wasteland as her home
665
666ncr-lieutenant
667ya know igotta ask
668
669gwinnetts
670yeah, zetta's minutemen are less an army and more an organization structure to let settlements govern themselves
671
672ncr-lieutenant
673what's her thoughts on the ncr
674*dabs*
675
676gwinnetts
677she hasn't really heard of them, and if she has, it's very little
678mostly through caravanners mentioning the name
679
680ncr-lieutenant
681I like the thought that nick's been to the hub and other places in the ncr
682
683gwinnetts
684but if she knew about them in detail she wouldnt like them either
685
686ncr-lieutenant
687since he went there to investigate the mysterious stranger
688nick's the real protagonist tbh
689
690gwinnetts
691i dont think he actually traveled there, just walked the information trail, to put a metaphor to it
692
693ncr-lieutenant
694darn
695I want nick walking the wastes like a cool guy
696okay anyways
697
698gwinnetts
699he should tbh
700
701ncr-lieutenant
702yeah she's very. hot headed.
703she probably wouldn't respond well to a particular minutemen captain really centralizing the minutemen
704
705gwinnetts
706she'll throw down without much of a second thought even with people she likes (see: nathan)
707it'd depend on the angle it was done i think
708
709ncr-lieutenant
710"Ah, general. My men took initiative and cleared the fort. We've already hired contractors to fix the gigantic holes in the walls."
711"We've begun food distribution plans to the local settlements already."
712
713gwinnetts
714she wouldnt want the minutemen to turn into an army or government force, for sure
715but if it was disguised as making things more efficient and etc it'd slide under her radar longer
716
717ncr-lieutenant
718Burress could show "look at how much we are helping people"
719
720gwinnetts
721and eventually her plan is to hand the minutemen over to preston anyway so all buress would have to do is wait her out
722
723ncr-lieutenant
724I mean technically its all legit
725Its not like burress will tear down the minutemen flag to reveal an ENCLAVE EMBLEM ON THE WALL BEHIND IT GAAASP
726
727gwinnetts
728LOL
729
730ncr-lieutenant
731The minutemen suit his needs perfectly
732The enclave's supposed to be America anyways so
733Just call yourselves Americans
734Bam problem solved
735
736gwinnetts
737zetta: FUCK AMERICA
738i like the idea of him being situated in the minutemen tho, itd be good for connections too
739
740ncr-lieutenant
741burress: right but this way its not your problem, right general?
742
743gwinnetts
744zetta: IT'D BE MY PROBLEM BC IT PISSES ME OFF. ALSO, I LIVE HERE
745
746ncr-lieutenant
747Burress is quite the politician
748
749gwinnetts
750...hilariously he might be able to circumvent bellamy entirely in this case
751
752ncr-lieutenant
753He's far more likely to bargain for peace with other factions.
754Work out deals.
755
756gwinnetts
757well actually now that i think about it the public knowledge wouldnt be that zetta was going in and out of the institute, and nathan's group mmmiiighhht not know that he knows her?? you'd have to check with nathan-mun on when he tells them about her
758
759ncr-lieutenant
760So we have two options here
761
762gwinnetts
763if they know, buress could find out through them, which means he'd know that zetta goes in and out of the institute, so he'd have the option of trying to ask her to pass on a message
764
765ncr-lieutenant
766One, take over minutemen slowly which we're doing anyways
767gwinnetts
768either that or go for someone less volatile but still a pain in the ass (bellamy)
769Two, use bellamy
770Three, ask zetta
771I mean we're totally doing option one
772But then two or three
773
774gwinnetts
775yyyyyy
776zetta is ... not very secret about her inclinations. she's very pro synth rights, but she's also not out to build a government. she's got a "fix things" mentality, but she's argumentative af
777she's tech-oriented so she's good at helping keep places safe and is big on each settlement being independent, more of a city states type model than anything else
778
779ncr-lieutenant
780Well hm
781How good would it be for the minutemen if minutemen captain burress publicly says:
782Hey, synths? I love em. Come to the fort if you want protection. All synths welcome. we're gonna have a bbq.
783I mean a public statement like that might bring the railroad right to his doorstep
784But also make the institute hate his ass
785
786gwinnetts
787in a really bad way, tho
788zetta would also come down on this like a ton of bricks
789she's very pro synth but by doing something like that, its putting literally everyone involved at risk -- the minutemen and the synths
790
791ncr-lieutenant
792tru
793
794gwinnetts
795and not just from the institute, since the majority of the wasteland (including a lot of minutemen) hate the synths
796so she'd be like ARE YOU STUPID?
797
798ncr-lieutenant
799yeah that doesn't work as straightforward
800could work as a trap for enemies tho
801"hello yes my synth refugees are under this box with a stick and string"
802Could fry some bos under a rocket engine except wait
803their armor can somehow survive that
804the rocket engine trap won't work rip
805
806gwinnetts
807it'd sure get a courser checking out the situation, which is worse than a brotherhood unit (narratively, not statistically)
808
809ncr-lieutenant
810Seems Burress has to work on this very slowly
811
812gwinnetts
813yyyyyyyyup
814
815ncr-lieutenant
816Be patient
817Taking over the minutemen seems like the best bet
818
819gwinnetts
820so would he want to try to talk to zetta or bellamy if he had the choice? (again, depending on when nathan tells the group about her...)
821(on the bright side tho, its only "one or the other" if it works; if one fails he can try the other)
822
823ncr-lieutenant
824I mean
825To get to Nathan he needs zetta or bellamy
826
827gwinnetts
828yyyy, i just mean like. for threading purposes, which one would he go for first?
829
830ncr-lieutenant
831Burress could slowly drop hints that he wants to save the synths to zetta
832Let zetta tell him on her own about a guy she has on the inside
833
834gwinnetts
835thats deeeeeeefinitely not gonna happen
836even if zetta decides she can trust buress to do what's right by synths, there's exactly one (1) person on the surface she tells about what happens while she's in the institute
837and that's deacon (nathan-mun's deacon specifically)
838
839ncr-lieutenant
840so seems we have a trail here
841minutemen
842zetta
843deacon
844nathan
845magic meat pit
846???
847profit
848
849gwinnetts
850i can promise that deacon would definitely never tell him anything, unfortunately. buress can wait for zetta to tell him something (it makes sense that he'd try it), but he'd have to decide eventually that waiting isn't working
851and figure out a way to ask zetta to deliver a message without making her suspicious/angry that he found out she's going in-and-out
852
853ncr-lieutenant
854zetta seems a harder option than bellamy
855maybe burress shouldn't even approach bellamy as enclave
856just as a minuteman
857
858gwinnetts
859she has more options for an emotional approach, tho. if he's active in showing concern/wanting to help/etc her find her son (which is public knowledge that she's looking for), then that'd give him more of an in
860
861ncr-lieutenant
862burress and the enclave formers as regular minutemen
863
864gwinnetts
865going the "help her find her son" route would open up him asking/checking in occasionally and possibly wearing her down as trying to be her friend, at which point she might admit or slip up that she's going in and out
866or that she knows something about the institute that isnt logically possible to know otherwise
867
868ncr-lieutenant
869Well Burress can show his desire to help people
870Even if its not the fort
871He's going to take over a settlement location with waterway access
872Gotta start shipping goods to people
873Relief aide and whatnot
874
875gwinnetts
876(i recommend not the lighthouse, that's where zetta's mercer is and that'd make things sticky possibly)
877
878ncr-lieutenant
879The old fort seems like the best idea
880And repairing all the broken walls will provide jobs to those needing employment
881The old fort needs, a lot of repairs and renovations
882
883gwinnetts
884i'm both laughing and feel bad for buress because it'd seem like a lot of "aha maybe i at last have a lead to-- /wall" "aha maybe i have a way around that wall, and /another wall" with zetta and bellamy
885like from a purely ooc/meta standpoint, zetta is easier to convince from an emotional standpoint and less skittish, but bellamy is easier to convince to get a hold of nathan
886because i think the thing that will convince bellamy to go along, even if buress does approach as enclave, is the idea of keeping an eye on things. his thought process, once he's alone and has the time to think about it, would be like...
887"if i decide not to join up, i'm going to have to leave the commonwealth, because it'll be easier to lose whatever tails they put on me over a long distance. if i decide to join up and this goes badly, i'm going to have to leave the commonwealth because of the association. i'll have to ditch my current living situation either way, and i'm prepared to do that"
888"if i go along with it for now, i can keep an eye on things, gather information and maybe give it to the right people in preparation for bringing them down if necessary, and be ready to bail." (and he doesnt really WANT to break contact with the few remnant members he likes, so this would be him trying to have it all ways)
889but as a result, bellamy going along would mean they wouldnt need the infiltrator option. bellamy could just... decide to call natha-- actually why hasnt that been a thing already. why did it take me so long to think of this
890nathan's group keeps in infrequent contact through code on a specific radio frequency
891the members who join up could just... radio him... and tell him to meet on the surface...
892stares off. thats such a simple fucking solution why did it take me so long to think about it
893
894ncr-lieutenant
895wait so
896he could just use the other remnants
897to get to nathan
898
899gwinnetts
900y... yeah...........
901i feel so dumb
902bellamy would still be a loose end as far as that group goes but then buress doesnt *need* him
903
904ncr-lieutenant
905it'd be nice to have him tho
906more minutemen is always good
907
908gwinnetts
909hilariously nathan is one of the three members of that group who could convince bellamy to join
910the other two being the ones who turned it down (carrington and john)
911
912ncr-lieutenant
913well john didn't turn it down out of hostility
914just because he's old and tired
915
916gwinnetts
917yyyy he's not really a hostile kind of guy
918
919ncr-lieutenant
920he could probably still ask john to ask bellamy for him?
921probably also ask john if he wants to live at the fort
922
923gwinnetts
924iirc john is already signed up with the minutemen anyhow
925
926ncr-lieutenant
927ah so he's "retired"
928well then that works
929So lesse
930
931gwinnetts
932he's retired from the enclave lifestyle, the minutemen do things so differently
933
934ncr-lieutenant
935The plan is simple then
936
937gwinnetts
938john could plant the idea in bellamy's head but nathan would be the best one to convince him to participate
939Him and his enclave remnant lads take over the switchboard (already done offscreen)
940then they take over the fort
941Then they put on minutemen outfits, bam they are now considered minutemen
942official minutemen
943get some of his minutemen to contact nathan
944build up the fort
945that part would depend on the timeline -- if they set up in the fort before zetta agrees to help preston, there'd be a clashing there
946at least at first
947
948ncr-lieutenant
949start making entreaties to other settlements to join him OR start claiming and populating abandoned locations
950Both probs
951Hm well
952
953gwinnetts
954preston: idk who these people are but theyre calling themselves minutemen and theyre at the fort >:[
955zetta, rolling up: OKAY WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU AND WHATS YOUR DEAL
956buress and his guys: we're... wanting to rebuild the minutemen??
957
958ncr-lieutenant
959Instead of clearing out the fort and taking it over
960gwinnetts
961zetta: ...
962preston: ... yay help!
963
964ncr-lieutenant
965They could join as volunteers
966
967gwinnetts
968joining as volunteers also works
969
970ncr-lieutenant
971ya like that
972"yes we're willing to work our way up from the bottom"
973
974gwinnetts
975preston would be hesitant at first i think but it'd be easy to win him over
976
977ncr-lieutenant
978burress is like "I used to be a mayor in the west. I have administrative experience in logistics, organization"
979
980gwinnetts
981and then from there zetta would be like "idk whatever more work force is good"
982
983ncr-lieutenant
984And then slowly but surely
985Burress rises in the ranks
986
987gwinnetts
988being an early foundation for the minutemen would help with earning zetta's trust too
989
990ncr-lieutenant
991And accomplishes his evil masterplan of freeing the synths and helping people
992
993gwinnetts
994i'd need to decide if this version of things would involve zetta destroying the institute or taking it over...
995
996ncr-lieutenant
997Hm how early in the timeline should they show up
998Well thing is
999Even if you destroy the institute
1000Burress is going to heavily discourage the bomb option
1001"that's just stupid!"
1002"there's probably a cure to cancer down here, and you can't just destroy the birthplace of synths!"
1003
1004gwinnetts
1005that's if he hears about it, tho, since zetta goes railroad with the main plot. whether he hears about it would really depend on how close he manages to get to zetta
1006
1007ncr-lieutenant
1008Well he's a warm fella
1009And the giant bulldog helps
1010It gives him +3 Charisma
1011
1012gwinnetts
1013theres a possibility that it'd get destroyed without him even knowing that was going to happen (and zetta does it as kind of a last resort/spur of the moment thing, too)
1014(she tries really hard for really long to have her cake and eat it, too, bc she doesnt WANT to destroy the institute)
1015
1016ncr-lieutenant
1017Oh god if that happened
1018Burress would immediately lose his cool
1019
1020gwinnetts
1021omg...
1022
1023ncr-lieutenant
1024Not just because of the loss of the future of America aka the synths
1025But also the massive casualties on the surface because of that bomb
1026would probably. declare her a traitor and try to get her whacked.
1027
1028gwinnetts
1029luckily no one lives in cambridge so at least there's that
1030
1031ncr-lieutenant
1032this is like the worst case scenario for burress.
1033"You just blew up the last chance this country had at rebuilding."
1034
1035gwinnetts
1036zetta: you obviously dont think very much of the normal fucking people you're trying to help
1037
1038ncr-lieutenant
1039"You're a traitor to the cause, all that progress. All the ways we could have fixed the world, gone up in smoke."
1040"Do you know how easily we could have taken over that facility?"
1041"There was no reason to blow it into vapor."
1042
1043gwinnetts
1044zetta: stop 👠being 👠an 👠elitist 👠dick
1045
1046ncr-lieutenant
1047"Excuse me but I'm not the one who blew up the place with the cure to cancer and space diabetes without thinking to ask anyone"
1048
1049gwinnetts
1050i imagine in the ending where the institute gets destroyed, buress cry of SHE'S A TRAITOR causes basically a civil war/BoS outcasts situation with the minutemen
1051
1052ncr-lieutenant
1053Yeeep
1054Because if burress and his guys joined super early in the timeline
1055Then burress has built up a rep in the minutemen
1056The kind, quiet, yet warm quartermaster.
1057
1058gwinnetts
1059it'd basically boil down to buress vs preston
1060bc preston would never support an attempt to kill zetta
1061and zetta herself doesnt have a lot of close followers in the minutemen but preston would
1062
1063ncr-lieutenant
1064well burress might not want to kill her once he cools down
1065But put on a trial?
1066
1067gwinnetts
1068zetta is not good at helping people cool down esp if he goes to her directly
1069
1070ncr-lieutenant
1071Absolutely
1072He's going to try and have her arrested pending trial
1073Let the people decide
1074
1075gwinnetts
1076zetta: double middle fingers
1077
1078ncr-lieutenant
1079But he's going to be the prosecution and try to make them decide a very particular way
1080Aka his way
1081Jail for life
1082
1083gwinnetts
1084which unfortunately wouldnt work bc the railroad would just bust her out LOL
1085and then he'd have zetta after his ass
1086
1087ncr-lieutenant
1088Hopefully it doesn't come to this grimdark captain America civil war ending
1089
1090gwinnetts
1091yyyyyyy. zetta ideally doesnt want to destroy the institute
1092
1093ncr-lieutenant
1094or at the very least burress's boys download the plans for the meat pit before it gets blown to shit
1095as soon as buress has an in, he's getting the plans for the meat pit
1096And assuming the remnants can just contact nathan
1097That's super early in the timeline
1098
1099gwinnetts
1100honestly even if she does destroy it she would go about it a way differently from canon
1101because she'd want to save/smuggle as much data as possible
1102zetta is an int and science-based sosu
1103
1104ncr-lieutenant
1105Well, as long as the data is intact, burress would be far less pissed
1106
1107gwinnetts
1108she's not blind to the good the institute COULD do if they got their heads out of their asses, which she spends most of the game trying to fix
1109
1110ncr-lieutenant
1111Because that means they have saved the way to create synths
1112Yeah that neatly avoids the civil war
1113
1114gwinnetts
1115buress would just have to find where she put the data and copy/steal it
1116
1117ncr-lieutenant
1118He'd still yell or sternly remind her that creating a giant smoking crater does not help relief efforts
1119
1120gwinnetts
1121zetta would tell him to bite her
1122
1123ncr-lieutenant
1124"You do know how long it takes for radiation to fade right?"
1125
1126gwinnetts
1127in those words probably
1128"fucking. bite. me"
1129"i'm not talking about this"
1130
1131ncr-lieutenant
1132"You blew it up."
1133
1134gwinnetts
1135"/walks off"
1136
1137ncr-lieutenant
1138"Why didn't you destroy it in any other way?"
1139"Just hire some guys with sledgehammers or just, a bunch of smaller, non-nuke bombs"
1140
1141gwinnetts
1142she'd be on the heels of facing the whole ending with shaun thing so she'd be . very touchy and not willing to deal with an argument about how she dealt with it
1143
1144ncr-lieutenant
1145Tru
1146Okay so would he even need to steal the info if he's the "logistics guy"
1147
1148gwinnetts
1149if he couldnt he could probably convince one of the people on his side to do it
1150
1151ncr-lieutenant
1152it'd just make sense to give him the data so he can start charity projects based on it
1153
1154gwinnetts
1155zetta would hoard the data at first with the intentions of parceling it out bit by bit
1156
1157ncr-lieutenant
1158So how early in the timeline can we slat this mayor and his 12 minutemen
1159
1160gwinnetts
1161hmmm. lemme think
1162
1163ncr-lieutenant
1164like all the way to the American museum in concord?
1165just she shows up to see 12 minutemen in a fight with raiders?
1166
1167gwinnetts
1168nah, i dont think so. if the intention is for them to establish in the fort early...
1169
1170ncr-lieutenant
1171"We got a distress call from a surviving minutemen. You heard it too?"
1172
1173gwinnetts
1174i imagine she gets around to agreeing to help preston by late november/early december
1175brotherhood shows up mid-november or so
1176
1177ncr-lieutenant
1178How's Preston been doing since then?
1179No progress?
1180
1181gwinnetts
1182zetta doesnt visit sanctuary very often for a long time (even after agreeing to help preston), so he doesnt get much chance to talk to her about it. up until she agrees, he stays in sanctuary with the quincy survivors
1183and then he moves to the fort
1184
1185ncr-lieutenant
1186so basically hmm
1187so burress has been doing the rebuilding then
1188but from the southeast corner of the map instead of the northwest
1189
1190gwinnetts
1191yup. zetta comes out of the vault at the end of october and it takes her until mid-november or so to track down kellogg and kill him, at which point the BoS shows up, and a week or two later, she agrees to help preston
1192so there's about a month's window worth of time for buress to get to the fort and decide on his plan
1193
1194ncr-lieutenant
1195so that means preston just walks there on his own late November early december
1196and finds the minutemen there
1197
1198gwinnetts
1199preston and zetta go together, but yeah
1200
1201ncr-lieutenant
1202wouldn't preston like. be glad to see that right away?
1203
1204gwinnetts
1205oh right he goes and scopes the place out on his own at some point doesnt he
1206
1207ncr-lieutenant
1208yes
1209with 3 minutemen
1210
1211gwinnetts
1212strokes chin... i do wonder how he'd react
1213
1214ncr-lieutenant
1215I always clear the place before preston wants me to
1216so those 3 minutemen don't die
1217we can rp that out as the start of everything
1218can you do a preston?
1219
1220gwinnetts
1221i can attempt one but he's not a super solid muse for me. i think it'd be easier to just handwave this part of it
1222
1223ncr-lieutenant
1224so then we start things off with like
1225zetta showing up
1226
1227gwinnetts
1228i dont think it'd be ooc if he's a little wary/uncertain of them at first, since he wouldnt know any of them, so he could hold off a bit and still be trying to decide what to do when zetta comes and finds him
1229
1230ncr-lieutenant
1231preston probably tells her some minutemen were there?
1232
1233gwinnetts
1234so yeah zetta walking up to the fort and being like YO WTF
1235
1236ncr-lieutenant
1237"oh hello are you here to join the minutemen?"
1238
1239gwinnetts
1240it'd probably be a good idea for buress' minutemen to not be super established among other settlements yet, to keep the element of surprise going
1241the ic element of surprise for preston and zetta, anyway
1242
1243ncr-lieutenant
1244hmmm
1245we could have burress focus on the fort until its nearly perfect
1246so its the nexus of his operations
1247by the time zetta shows up to the fort all those massive breaches in the walls are just, perfectly bricked up
1248the bricks are nice and fresh and even
1249
1250gwinnetts
1251yyyy, i like this
1252
1253ncr-lieutenant
1254maybe just to get the point across about his rebuilding efforts, a minuteman is painting the outer wall when zetta shows up
1255she talks to the paint guy first, burress is further inside.
1256
1257gwinnetts
1258i think what could send preston out to investigate is that people are starting to talk about the minutemen rebuilding and he's like ???
1259because there'd be some rumors but no one pledging allegiance/joining up just yet
1260
1261ncr-lieutenant
1262"why aren't they coming to me, the last minuteman"
1263
1264gwinnetts
1265not necessarily that but like... him being confused and a little hopeful about who might be doing the thing
1266but then uncertain when he sees its no one he knows or has heard of
1267so he's investigated a little when zetta comes to him
1268but doesnt have a lot of info
1269meanwhile during this whole time zetta assumes it's preston having done the -- LMAO EVEN BETTER
1270
1271ncr-lieutenant
1272burress will be saying he and his people are refugees from the northwest, which is true sort of
1273
1274gwinnetts
1275zetta would hear the rumors maybe before preston since she's on that side of the map more often
1276
1277ncr-lieutenant
1278Chicago (except Chicago is doing just fine)
1279
1280gwinnetts
1281so if she assumes preston just stopped waiting for her and started doing it anyway
1282
1283ncr-lieutenant
1284and they heard the story of the minutemen and wanted to bring the minutemen back
1285
1286gwinnetts
1287she might be stopping by to see how he's doing
1288only to find... not preston
1289
1290ncr-lieutenant
1291Instead it is a different bald man
1292
1293gwinnetts
1294zetta: Hey Whomst The Fuck
1295
1296ncr-lieutenant
1297burress: hello
1298
1299gwinnetts
1300...god at this point without preston being there to be like "LOOK I BROUGHT THE GENERAL"
1301
1302ncr-lieutenant
1303burress: are you another refugee? we have some ration packs
1304
1305gwinnetts
1306it'd leave... buress. as the sole one in charge of the minutemen
1307bc there wouldnt be the opening for zetta to take over and it's not like she'd try to fight him for it
1308
1309ncr-lieutenant
1310burress would want preston to join up
1311Preston seems like a model American to him
1312Such fresh faced optimism
1313Does this mess up Zetta's timeline tho, not being minuteman general? Or does it help because of how anarchist she is
1314Make the story flow more natural
1315
1316gwinnetts
1317it doesnt hurt nor help; she doesnt like being in charge of a large group, so while she eventually decides to help preston because of [insert 9485948 reasons i wont bother going into here], it's not something she particularly *wants* to do
1318and its not something crucial to her character arc
1319
1320gwinnetts
1321zetta is unlikely to join up officially with the minutemen but she'd still help settlements anyway
1322it'd be more of a commissions type thing i guess
1323
1324ncr-lieutenant
1325Merc
1326
1327gwinnetts
1328not just in the heavy sense, tho
1329"pay me and i'll set up the turret system"
1330
1331ncr-lieutenant
1332Ah so
1333Contractor
1334
1335gwinnetts
1336yyyy
1337
1338ncr-lieutenant
1339So basically Burress easily takes over the minutemen
1340
1341gwinnetts
1342yyyyup
1343
1344ncr-lieutenant
1345And completely bypasses both zetta and rook
1346
1347gwinnetts
1348unfortunately this path also decreases his opportunity to get close to zetta so access to her information and, well, unique access to the institute slims down
1349and zetta will still exist around as a thorn in his side but it wouldnt be as much of a problem until later
1350
1351ncr-lieutenant
1352hmmm
1353
1354gwinnetts
1355... bellamy could also potentially be a problem depending on how buress goes about things but he'd be much less obvious
1356
1357ncr-lieutenant
1358well with the minutemen path
1359No need to make the enclave thing obvious
1360He's just a logistician trying to rebuild the America his parents told him about in stories
1361
1362gwinnetts
1363would buress still try to contact bellamy but more out of the same way he approached the rest of that group?
1364
1365ncr-lieutenant
1366Yup
1367Less as the essential key and more, hey, why not join us?
1368The minutemen could use more swell lads
1369
1370gwinnetts
1371i assume he'd still admit their shared roots (... also hang on how old is buress)
1372
1373ncr-lieutenant
1374He is
137542
1376Actually hold on
1377Lemme check
1378Lets say 36
1379Because i'm stealing more details from IRL Hannibal Buress
1380I've been using one extra R this whole time
1381Yikes
1382
1383gwinnetts
1384oh man. ohhhhhhh man
1385welllllllll
1386he and bellamy would've known each other growing up then
1387because bellamy's 33
1388(i assume he's from the capitol wasteland area and not chicago anyway?)
1389
1390ncr-lieutenant
1391That helps a lot then right?
1392He'd know Buress is legit
1393Yeah buress moved to Chicago after the whole fiasco
1394
1395gwinnetts
1396yyyyy he'd definitely know buress believes in what he's doing
1397lemme grab some hc posts real quick
1398
1399ncr-lieutenant
1400He was livid when he found of what the "president" was trying to do
1401Killing people with a virus???
1402Buress is
1403Painfully aware
1404How limited the gene pool is
1405Killing even more people depopulates America even further
1406
1407gwinnetts
1408http://gwinnetts.tumblr.com/post/181445642836/east-coast-enclave-education-headcanons-from
1409http://gwinnetts.tumblr.com/post/181968816001/another-headcanon-on-bellamy-and-the-enclave
1410and then some fun extra info about bellamy's contributions to his remnant group that isnt directly related to what went on with him before the lw blew everyone up http://gwinnetts.tumblr.com/post/181968629151/crowspy-when-the-enclave-remnant-group
1411
1412ncr-lieutenant
1413So then, Bellamy should be a lot easier to get with the plan
1414"Come on Bells, you know me. This is our chance to really help people."
1415
1416gwinnetts
1417i wouldn't say a lot easier but like, easier that it might shave a few hours off his time spent thinking it over
1418because even if buress does genuinely mean well it doesnt mean it'd GO well, or succeed
1419and again bellamy just isnt swayed by idealism
1420
1421ncr-lieutenant
1422"Rooks, you could sit in your shack with a gun, or in our nice fort with working toilets, again with your gun"
1423oh buress will probably put up signs outside the fort advertising the benefits of living there
1424"Yes, we have toilets! ->"
1425
1426gwinnetts
1427bellamy internally like "buddy you're making a lot of assumptions about how i'd rather be comfortable than not having to watch over my shoulder constantly"
1428he'd ultimately get more involved with the enclave-minutemen in order to ferret out how fast it's going to go south (because he's going to assume that it will)
1429so he can plan accordingly about when to bail
1430"how long do i have to get supplies together"
1431
1432ncr-lieutenant
1433"Well its a volunteer organization."
1434"So whenever you're ready."
1435Also as minuteman leader, Buress will likely focus heavy on setting up a government
1436He won't elect a president immediately
1437He's going to make sure each town has a mayor, and then the mayors will vote for a governor
1438Or prez
1439
1440ncr-lieutenant
1441He doesn't want to pull a Republic of Dave situation
1442
1443gwinnetts
1444LOL! i imagine that in the far future of this plot bellamy will just eventually decide to slink off into the distance instead of actively cause problems, assuming it doesnt quickly go corrupt
1445where zetta ... it reeeeaally depends on how buress publicizes things and what the timeline on his big plans are
1446
1447ncr-lieutenant
1448I mean are we talking post-buress
1449Because buress has plans for a post-buress age
1450
1451gwinnetts
1452wastelanders being second class citizens that have to prove themselves is something she would've come out of the woods to argue about until she's blue in the face
1453
1454ncr-lieutenant
1455being minuteman changes it completely
1456No second class citizenry
1457
1458gwinnetts
1459but otherwise so long as she was left alone she'd be content just being off on her own doing her own thing (since she's a homebody, and assuming a destroyed institute situation)
1460in which case there'd be little to no problems from zetta
1461
1462ncr-lieutenant
1463buress basically publicizes it as
1464we are americans
1465this isn't us making a new nation or anything
1466we are simply americans rebuilding our own homeland
1467
1468gwinnetts
1469(also for clarity's sake i do wanna say that like, my characters' opinions =/= mine, i practice a solid IC/OOC line, so zetta and bellamy being difficult af and bucking against buress is 100% just them being themselves and not a reflection of my opinions of the character or the plotline or anything)
1470
1471ncr-lieutenant
1472And the minutemen are a police force to keep people safe from criminals, cultists, and paramilitary crazies
1473
1474gwinnetts
1475(and me poking holes in things is how i like to brainstorm and build)
1476
1477ncr-lieutenant
1478(oh I understand completely no sweat!)
1479
1480gwinnetts
1481if we go the "zetta becomes director of the institute" route, things get ............. interesting again
1482
1483ncr-lieutenant
1484Well Buress believes in the minutemen here
1485And the institute kidnapping his people and other honest americans???
1486that's a no no
1487
1488gwinnetts
1489well, zetta's institute wouldnt be kidnapping, to be clear
1490
1491ncr-lieutenant
1492if it REALLY comes down to it
1493Buress would be making the tough choice to attack
1494
1495gwinnetts
1496an institute under zetta is an institute that's going to be dealing with a lot of internal turmoil as she flips tables upside down and tries to force change
1497
1498ncr-lieutenant
1499If they're not gonna play ball
1500oh then that's an easy institute to steal from
1501
1502gwinnetts
1503i have a character who has a much better shot at turning the institute around with minimal internal turmoil, but zetta is not it
1504
1505ncr-lieutenant
1506"quick Nathan. steal office supplies"
1507
1508gwinnetts
1509the way she'd go about things would just be met with a lot of resistance and she'd have a hard time
1510sdmklfj
1511
1512ncr-lieutenant
1513"hurry Nathan do it for America"
1514Nathan shoves an entire photocopier in his labcoat
1515
1516gwinnetts
1517yeah through nathan buress would have an in with zetta, and if nathan asks zetta directly, she'd refuse, but then nathan actually has the skills to be able to make off with data
1518and zetta would be busy enough that she sure af wouldnt notice
1519
1520ncr-lieutenant
1521buress would certainly be confused
1522"okay so. its a magical meat nutrient soup pit... with some 3d printers. woo boy this is gonna take a lot of stolen office supplies to build"
1523
1524gwinnetts
1525dmfkjdfjgh
1526"gee it'd be convenient if one of the most educated tech-oriented people would help us but she's over there flipping us off with one hand and her own people with the other"
1527
1528ncr-lieutenant
1529"hey Nathan, this director of yours seems difficult. she didn't happen to get the position entirely due to nepotism did she?"
1530
1531gwinnetts
1532mfdskjgd
1533
1534ncr-lieutenant
1535wanna know something hilarious btw
1536
1537gwinnetts
1538:O?
1539
1540ncr-lieutenant
1541put together the institute quest icons
1542you get loss.jpg
1543
1544gwinnetts
1545omfg
1546
1547ncr-lieutenant
1548So lets see here
1549Do we want zetta being minutemen or nah
1550also I feel like buress is gonna try to get preston in the minutemen soon as humanly possible
1551
1552gwinnetts
1553yeah, i imagine preston will join up with them regardless
1554your choice on zetta being mm, i dont mind either way. if we go with zetta as general, buress will have more difficulty with things until she steps down
1555but also allows him to get closer to her
1556so it depends on the kind of CR you want
1557(...i use CR = character relationships instead of "ship" to encompass relationships in general)
1558(using "ship" for all kinds of relationships isn't uncommon on tumblr and iiiii dont like it, i get confused)
1559(CR comes from livejournal and dreamwidth style rp, which is where my roots are, and i think it's useful to have a more encompassing turn /shpiel over)
1560
1561ncr-lieutenant
1562https://66.media.tumblr.com/b6881db5e5b7cc418aa051397071feeb/tumblr_messaging_pmpmok4WMC1wywjjo_1280.png
1563^ Buress directing construction workers on where to place the pallets of bricks to rebuild the fort walls
1564Hm I think I kinda like zetta as the general because then there's some conflict as the """general""" shows up and finds the fort already occupied
1565
1566gwinnetts
1567/thumbs up! that works for me, i think that'd be a lot of fun to play with
1568
1569ncr-lieutenant
1570zetta shows up like
1571get out of my house
1572buress is like
1573since when was this your house
1574so you wanna start us off with zetta approaching the fort or should I start things off with a bustling forst
1575because the fort has like
1576forty people in it
1577low numbers I know
1578
1579gwinnetts
1580hmmmm. i think starting with the fort would be best since it'd set up the scene and situation zetta would be coming up on
1581
1582ncr-lieutenant
1583I'll make the post then
1584Basically my thoughts are like
1585Its completely repaired
1586Fresh smooth bricks
1587There's still scaffolding tho for the paintjob
1588And guard towers
1589But not shitty warped wood board watchtowers like ingame
1590instead its shiny steel woooh
1591
1592gwinnetts
1593:|a i wonder if that might be a bit much to have established in only a month's time? i could imagine the walls being mostly or almost done but they'd need to be able to build up the resources not only in like, ingredients/supplies but ability to craft/smelt/etc
1594zetta would leave them to continue building things up on their own and/or contribute resources after getting things sorted out
1595
1596ncr-lieutenant
1597true true
1598I was thinking enclave prefabs still srry
1599
1600gwinnetts
1601no worries!! totally understandable
1602(also if its okay i'm gonna make a log of this convo so we can refer to it more easily later?)
1603
1604ncr-lieutenant
1605so zetta now that they're general
1606they ain't gonna be happy about this eh
1607oh yeah of course
1608I also have discord
1609
1610gwinnetts
1611that would deffo be easier in the future, discord is much less garbage at log-keeping
