DiscoDude: **---BEGIN SESSION---**
DiscoDude: **Session logging commenced**
Ryusui|GM: Okay, <@&466676711379959808>.
Ryusui|GM: You've all escaped what was, if Camden Hollis had anything to say about it, going to be a bloodbath. But with the help of Hazel Halliday herself(!), you not only escaped with your lives but kicked a lot of ass doing so.
Ryusui|GM: So with <@!Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla>'s apartment a no-go for now, where does the gang and Hazel choose to regroup-slash-deal with their prisoner?
Reality Glitch: ((Weeeell, most of us.))
Reality Glitch: ((It always bugs me when poeple type out "____-slash-____" as a literal transcription of the overarticulation of "____/____".))
Casper: Wherever Hazel thinks it's safest. Casper trusts her in that *her* being a traitor at this stage would require some truly ludicrous, and more importantly, *impractical* gambitry.
Casper: (BTW, how does Eli get back to us?)
Susan: *"Question, does the Club think you're dead?" Susan asks, looking at Halliday.*
Reality Glitch: ((I've bugged all of you; that's how.))
Casper: (Like, I know the Compel was retroactive to his actions, but it's really one I wish he could have refused.)
Casper: (Oh.)
Casper: (So, uh... where is that place, GM?)
Michael Fisk: "For now we should come up with somewhere we can keep our attempted back stabber and get the second statue, we need to get the statue before some else does."
Susan: *"Just thinking, if you're a rogue element to them, your suggestion on a safe location might be better than ours," She says.*
Ryusui|GM: <@!Susan> "Well that was rather the whole point. So long as the Club thought I was out of the picture, they wouldn't go after my family. Of course I had planned to get the Owl away from them in the process, but Hotchkiss was *not* a patient man..."
Ryusui|GM: "I do have a small safehouse, but it'll be a bit of a tight fit for six people...and one traitor." She shakes her head at Hollis.
Casper: "Not sure about the others, but I've probably thrived in more Spartan conditions than whatever you're thinking."
Michael Fisk: "As long as it is enough to keep our traitor on lock down long enough to secure the cat statue, I think we can figure things out."
Susan: *"This guy was a good enough liar to get into our base, I'll ask again, is it really worth keepin him around?" Susan asks.*
Casper: "It's better than turning him loose, and my contract was non-lethal in nature, unless you're willing to change it."
Michael Fisk: "I was going to say, I can think of a few people who would be willing to take him off our hands. But that might take some time to do right, time we may not have right now."
Reality Glitch: Fortunately, I wouldn't need to physically be in the safehouse with the others, since I can just use the same drone I'm using now to listen in on and participate in the current conversation.
Ryusui|GM: Well, it looks like it's settled, then. To Hazel's safehouse?
Casper: (Yep.)
Michael Fisk: (Yeah.)
Ryusui|GM: Hazel's rooftop hideout has a beautiful skylight and about half as much floorspace as the living room of Melissa's apartment. It's been sparsely appointed, but there is flat-panel display and a sofa that can accommodate three people; Hazel has no issue with sitting on the table, while Hollis gets shoved into a corner.
Susan: *Susan sighs, and nods her head.*
Casper: Casper goes to work after locating a roll of duct tape and a stepladder. The hostage will be gagged, and positioned on the ceiling, above normal eye-level.
Casper: (Just in case anybody comes to try and extract him.)
Ryusui|GM: "Don't be too concerned with his comfort. He's more than earned this," Hazel mutters.
Casper: (True ninja-tech; most people just don't think to look up, so "above eye level" is a viable hiding place, even if it's in plain sight.)
Susan: *"Yeah, he's thrown his lot in with monsters that don't care who they trample," Susan says, "If I haven't made that clear yet, not a fan."*
Reality Glitch: `"Boooo....!"` can be heard through my drone's speakers.
Casper: "Do you have some particular grievance with them," asks Casper, just as he finishes covering everything but Hollis's nose.
Casper: "Hello Eli."
Reality Glitch: `"Hi!"`
Susan: *"I... lost a friend," Susan says.*
Casper: "Understandable." He snaps his attention to Hazel. "If Hollis's confession is to be believed, then our target is indeed in the museum as he originally claimed. If we are to obtain it without incident, we should act quickly."
Casper: (Casper is definitely the type to take personal revelations in nonplussed stride.)
Ryusui|GM: "Mmm. I can confirm it to be the case. I've been watching the Club's movements from afar and he wasn't lying about where the pussycat is."
Reality Glitch: ((Nonplussed? I've never heard that term before.))
Casper: (It means "unphased," basically.)
Michael Fisk: "To be honest I didn't think he was, having both statues basiclly makes him the owner of the club, so trying to get us to get it for him would make sense."
Susan: *"Oh. Uh... I think he was lying about that," Susan says.*
Ryusui|GM: "You're half-right. He's *allied with* the Club, but he's not a proper member. He *thought* betraying us and delivering the statues to the Club would be his way in. Unfortunately for him, they don't offer seats for *jobs half done.*"
Ryusui|GM: "He still has access to some of the Club's resources, though. I imagine they won't be happy to learn he squandered them."
Michael Fisk: would look up to Hollis "Really now? They were just gonna ask the new guy to reterive something so critical to them?... I guess it really doesn't matter *now* does it."
Susan: *"My friend... she was looking into the statues. She thought it was some sort of treasure map," Susan says, "When Hollis mentioned what they were, I thought OK, maybe she didn't have the full story. Now... once we have the cat statue, we'll know for sure, but... maybe she was right?"*
Ryusui|GM: Hazel laughs. "Not new at all. He betrayed my crew 50 years ago, when we tried to destroy the Club by stealing the statues from them. Hollis thought he could turn around and give the statues back, hand us over in the process, show his loyalty to the Club. Of course I managed to hold onto the Owl statue, and the Pussycat got traded around until it ended up back in the Club's hands...but even *that* took five decades."
Ryusui|GM: Hazel smiles at you, Susan: "They *are* a treasure map, of a sort. You could think of the accounts as...buried treasure, hidden where the Club could access it in an emergency."
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: *Melissa, meanwhile the rest of the team discussed, was resting on the couch, looking pretty tired, she didn't even bother to mention a thing until she pouted.* "This *sucks*! I lost my floor, will have to scramble to even get a phone to talk to my father, and I will even have to think of an *excuse!* "
Reality Glitch: `"Why?"` I stop the rover-like drone at Rattata's feet.
Susan: *"Ah... Susan says, "She was missing parts of the story then, I guess. Sorry, I guess I was just... reminiscing."*
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: *Melissa tries to swat the Drone away, but it comes off as laying around.* "Because you just don't lose the top floor like *that!* It's a security compromise!"
Susan: *"Tell him you did something stupid, you let something slip, and then a bunch of goons came after you to get to him," Susan says.*
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: "...alas, I might as well write my will!" *she says placing her right hand on her forehead, sighing.*
Susan: *"Daddy problems that bad?" Susan asks, "And I thought I had it rough..."*
Casper: "Cat statue, museum, stay on target."
Reality Glitch: `"Why not the truth?"`
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: "I don't want to get *grounded*, Eli."*She straightens up after Casper reminds her of why she is here.* "O-oh, Right."
Susan: *"Right," Susan says, "Guessing my job is to get past the front desk. I'm guessing the whole 'evacuation' plan isn't going to work a second time, I think I saw some publicity about that, so... we're going to have to think of another reason why they should let us snoop around where they normally wouldn't let us."*
Reality Glitch: I made a small whimper as Rattata said that.
Casper: "It
Casper: "It's a museum. Why wouldn't they let us in? It's the offices that will be the tough part."
Reality Glitch: I roll my drone into the center of the room and have it give a happy little `*beep beep*` to indicate itself.
Casper: "Hello Eli."
Casper: (Maybe in the future, once we get the general objective established, we can just cut forward to the actual operation, and most of whatever we come up with to deal with whatever Obstacle aspects we encounter can be assumed to be part of the plan we came up with?)
Reality Glitch: `"I can go."`
Casper: "Go where? I'd rather not risk a solo mission, considering the odds of the enemy being tipped off are..."
Reality Glitch: My voice comes through as a little frustrated, `"No; I send this in."` I have the drone scoot back and forth at the word "this".
Reality Glitch: `"It can climb walls!"` I say in an obliviously joyous voice.
Susan: *"Can it grab the statue?" Susan asks.*
Ryusui|GM: "Or crack the safe?" Hazel says.
Casper: "I think we need a person in order to lift a statue."
Michael Fisk: "He did say there were going to be guards, in the actual office it self too."
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: "Or fight off an enemy?"
Reality Glitch: A gripping claw extends out the top at Sandshrew's words.
Casper: "I think the statue is a little bigger than that. Even if you could *theoretically* break into a secure museum and take a statue out from under their noses with nothing but a drone, I would rather not take a chance."
Ryusui|GM: (BRB)
Reality Glitch: `"Aw."` Disappointment clear in my voice.
Michael Fisk: "Is that it then, we just waltz in, crack some locks, and get out?"
Casper: "There will be no dancing until after we have both statues *and* have cracked the code *and* managed to spook the Club enough that they disband before they can take us out before we even have a chance to use that information. Until then, be on your absolute A-game, because this may be the most important job any of you have for the whole year, *at least*."
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: "Jeez, you are getting me excited already!" *Melissa says.* "Alright, You'll get an SSR instead!"
Casper: (SSR?)
Reality Glitch: ((Sustained Silent Reading))
Reality Glitch: ((I highly doubt that's what revoblam means, but it's something my mother used to talk about what she taught elementary school.))
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: ((what some games throw you when you get a rate better than an A or an S))
Michael Fisk: (wouldn't that be an SSS rank usually?)
Casper: (R is just an abbreviation of "Rank," I think.)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: ((No, That's SS, im going by Sonic Riders ranking ~~I totally didn't mix it up with gacha terminiology~~))
Ryusui|GM: (in DMC it goes as far as SSS, yes)
Ryusui|GM: Right, so! To the museum?
Casper: (Yep.)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: ((👌))
Reality Glitch: ((Let's go.))
Ryusui|GM: (doing it at night, or making a daring daylight heist with lots of potential witnesses present? XD)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (Do we get masks if we do it at daylight?)
Casper: (Daylight has more witnesses, yes, but the building isn't as locked down, and those very witnesses will leave way less room for the Club to pull anything outright dangerous.)
Ryusui|GM: All right, then. Daylight it is. Our first area is right outside the museum, with the main entrance blindingly obvious and full of people going in and out. The receptionist won't pose any trouble at this time of day, but a different question remains: how do you choose to get in? There are [Throngs of People] coming and going, there are certain to be [Security Cameras] positioned inside and outside the door...and who knows what other complications or opportunities might arise!
Ryusui|GM: Oh, and lest we forget, Susan...
Casper: (All other aspects are hidden?)
Ryusui|GM: [The Staff Here Know Your Face]!
Ryusui|GM: (at the very least they recognize you from when you no doubt visited your friend! 😉 )
Casper: "Step one is that Eli should disable the cameras, regardless of what we do."
Reality Glitch: ((Which friend?))
Casper: (A friend in her backstory.)
Reality Glitch: "On it!"
Ryusui|GM: (Susan's friend, who found the Pussycat Statue; Hotchkiss destroyed her life and stole the statue from her)
Ryusui|GM: It's museum-grade security but it's not too big an issue for Eli's skills. This'll be a roll against +3.
Casper: (Are there any other entrances?)
Ryusui|GM: (hacker, of course!)
Ryusui|GM: (you'll have to do some scouting to figure that out! 😉 )
Casper: (Aw, what? I thought we had the blueprints?)
Ryusui|GM: (ah? AH. Shit, MB!)
Ryusui|GM: (1 sec!)
Casper: (And a quick cursory stake-out before the operation proper is a given, anyways.)
Reality Glitch: !f 3
DiscoDude: <@Reality Glitch> rolled 4dF+3 for 6 [4dF = [+][+][+][ ]]
Reality Glitch: ((Success with Style!))
Casper: (You go man. Is that SWS enough to not just eliminate the aspect, but reverse it?)
Ryusui|GM: (again, 1 sec! XD)
Reality Glitch: ((SwS on an Overcome action is "You accomplish what you set out to do and generate a boost."))
Ryusui|GM: The blueprints Hollis provided didn't indicate any side entrances; unsurprisingly, he'd doctored them to make sure you didn't find them. There is an access duct well above ground level on the side of the building; it'd take quite a skilled Thief to get inside. It would bypass the security cameras entirely and lead straight to the floor with the offices.
Casper: (Ah, nice.)
Ryusui|GM: And yes, Eli, you not only disable the camera feeds, you disable them in such a way that the security personnel don't even notice anything's wrong. Your -Spoofed Feed- won't fool them forever, but you can turn it to your advantage in the interim!
Ryusui|GM: So yeah, to clarify, there is an [Access Duct] that looks like it leads straight to the offices on the second floor. Mind, it's *not* on the blueprints Hollis gave you, so you can't be 100% sure what kinds of surprises might be that way, but it looks clear enough!
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (Looks like this is a job for everyone's favorite!)
Casper: "Susan, you mentioned earlier that the staff might recognize you. Are you fine with sitting this mission out?"
Ryusui|GM: (it's an aspect she can totes overcome 😉 )
Susan: *"I thought that might be where I fit in," Susan says, "Let me mingle with the staff for a bit as a distraction."*
Casper: (It sounds like a negative aspect, <@!Susan>.)
Casper: (As in, it was meant in the bad way.)
Ryusui|GM: (well if she can find a way to turn it to your advantage...!)
Casper: (But if that's how you want to overcome it... Casper was going to suggest attempting a disguise, but that works too.)
Michael Fisk: (It could have positive uses though, simply having met her before means they might trust her a bit more. As long as she doesn't do anything suspect on her own, knowing her face won't matter.)
Casper: "You have the go-ahead, if you're that confident."
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (Or she can draw everyone's attention an distract them while Melissa works her magic!)
Susan: (Yeah, that's where I was going with it.)
Casper: (While Susan is doing that... who wants to try creating a free invoke on that crowd aspect? Maybe Hacker or Grifter to give the museum a promotional boost and oversaturate the crowd to the point of making picking someone out of a crowd much harder?)
Ryusui|GM: Anyways, Melissa, it'll be a Thief roll vs. +3 to get inside! (Other approaches might be workable, but at a penalty! 😉 )
Ryusui|GM: (in case anyone tries to follow you, i mean 😉 )
Ryusui|GM: So what's the rest of the gang going to do, then? Susan going to try and make small talk with the staff? Someone else going to try and figure out a way to amp up the crowd?
Casper: (My top 3 is Hitter, Mastermind, and Thief. I doubt I can do the latter.)
Ryusui|GM: oh, on that note
Ryusui|GM: mastermind could totes work for the "engineer the crowd" plan
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: !f 3
DiscoDude: <@Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla> rolled 4dF+3 for 6 [4dF = [ ][+][+][+]]
Casper: (Oh, you mean like simply timing the mission right to let some official promoter do the work for me?)
Casper: (What's the DC for that?)
Ryusui|GM: (i was going to say "getting people in the right place for maximum effect," or just plain timing the job retroactively to have hit the museum at maximum crowd density, but either way it's against +2 😉 )
Ryusui|GM: You're in, Melissa. You're in a maze of twisty hallways, all similar. There's one caveat, though.
Casper: (Alright... don't think I have any applicable aspects... this is just an overcome, right? To ensure they're hindering guards as much as making it tricky for us?)
Ryusui|GM: (yes)
Ryusui|GM: You felt a faint electric tingle in your ear as you passed through the duct. Your earmera signal's being blocked by something, probably similar to Eli's empshield.
Ryusui|GM: The rest of you: Melissa goes dark a minute after she enters the duct.
Casper: !roll 4df+2 (Mastermind)
DiscoDude: <@Casper> rolled 4df+2 for 2 [4df = [ ][-][+][ ]] (Mastermind)
Casper: (Hm...)
Reality Glitch: "Where'd she go?"
Casper: (I think I'll fail, but gain a boost representing the crowd's thickness.)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: "Huh? Must be the static..." *Melissa keeps on crawling through the duct.*
Ryusui|GM: (fair enough)
Casper: (So they're still a problem for us, but now also a problem for them.)
Ryusui|GM: The crowd's not as thick as you were anticipating, but you're reasonably sure you can stay -Hidden in Plain Sight- among them.
Ryusui|GM: Susan, gonna say this: it'll be a Grifter roll against +1 to get the effect you desire. You just walk up to the front desk and chat up the receptionist, right? Or did you have something else in mind?
Casper: "Melissa has likely entered an EMP zone. They likely intended to use this to blind us to Hollis's betrayal while we worked."
Casper: (Should all three of us go through the front?)
Reality Glitch: "Oh no!"
Casper: (Or should someone stay with Hazel?)
Ryusui|GM: (maybe Hazel stayed to keep an eye on Hollis? This grand final caper is your show, after all 😉 )
Ryusui|GM: (or you can have her along for some assistance)
Casper: (I just don't want our work undoing the twist early to be undone or replaced, like with Hazel *also* being a traitor somehow, or someone "getting" her or extracting Hollis while we're not looking.)
Casper: (Call me a paranoid player, but I think Eli will man the fort on this one.)
Casper: (*Casper.)
Casper: (Casper will man the fort, and Susan and Michael will be front door team.)
Ryusui|GM: (so Casper stays at base with Hollis while Hazel heads out into action? Or Hazel stays with Casper and Hollis?)
Casper: (Hazel stays. In universe, she's a bit old to be doing this. Out of universe, I'm paranoid and want to keep an eye on her.)
Ryusui|GM: (cool. so you two and the prisoner are at base.)
Susan: *Susan pushes open the front doors. She waves her hand at the receptionist, and walks up to her. "Hello, stranger!" She says.*
Susan: !roll 4df+3
DiscoDude: <@Susan> rolled 4df+3 for 3 [4df = [ ][+][ ][-]]
Ryusui|GM: The receptionist - Laura - lights up as you approach. "Susan! God, I haven't seen you in so long! Not since..." She trails off and quickly changes the subject: "So, how've things been going?"
Ryusui|GM: (Consider this a free invoke, in your favor, on [The Staff Know My Face] - you can invoke it to help the others 😉 )
Ryusui|GM: (er, i mean, you can hand over the invoke to others if they need it)
Casper: (Is Michael "in," too?)
Ryusui|GM: At this point all Michael has to do to get in undetected is walk in. Unless he wants to follow Melissa?
Susan: *"Oh, not much has changed, really. Still just trying to figure out a well to sell people on leftist ideals," Susan say, "Yeah, sorry I've been so distant. Figured it was time to confront some of these feelings. How's the museum been?"*
Michael Fisk: (yeah, he would probably just filter in along with the rest of the crowd, but seperatly from Susan)
Casper: (Meanwhile, what's Melissa doing?)
Ryusui|GM: Melissa, again, you have the map memorized, but the duct turned around enough that you're not 100% sure where you actually came out. You're sure you can find your way if you just get your bearings, but be warned: there *are* guards on this floor!
Casper: "Michael, Susan, if you ever get into the offices, try to locate where that EMP device is. Eli, can you make any predictions on where it's housed?"
Ryusui|GM: Michael, the first thing you see after getting past the reception desk is a directory. You can plot a course straight to the nearest door to the offices, but you'll still need some way to get through the lock. Hollis claimed that the guards have keys, but there might be other ways.
Ryusui|GM: Eli, that'll be a Mastermind roll on your part to figure out the location of the EMP device. (Bear in mind the info won't help Melissa yet!)
Casper: (But it will help the people who I'm telling to hunt down that device.)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: Melissa looks around, she tries to find any sort of landmark to position herself on the map, if none were nearby? She would start sneaking around, hopefully there wouldn't be any guards around the corner...!
Casper: (Actually, maybe I *should* be down there? My stunt could really help with that...)
Ryusui|GM: (too late; you've made your position clear 😉 )
Ryusui|GM: (that said i'm thinking you can roll Mastermind too)
Ryusui|GM: (since it's tech-related I'll say Eli gets a bonus; it'll be vs. +1 for him or +3 for you)
Casper: (I'll do that if Eli fails.)
Ryusui|GM: Melissa, this'll be a Thief roll vs. +2, or a Mastermind vs. +1.
Casper: (Basically, he's overcoming to reveal an aspect and place a free invoke on it?)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: !f 3
DiscoDude: <@Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla> rolled 4dF+3 for 4 [4dF = [+][-][ ][+]]
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (rolling Thief, of course)
Reality Glitch: !f 2
DiscoDude: <@Reality Glitch> rolled 4dF+2 for 1 [4dF = [-][-][+][ ]]
Casper: (Invoke high concept for a clean win?)
Reality Glitch: ((I guess? Do hacking skills help in this situation?))
Ryusui|GM: (yes, though obviously nothing wireless XD)
Ryusui|GM: <@!Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla>, it's not long before you're back on track. You still don't have any comms, but you do find the office soon enough.
Casper: (Search for traps!)
Ryusui|GM: There's only one guard, but he's HUGE. You come up to *maybe* his chest and he's easily twice as *wide* as you are at the shoulders. His gun is holstered, but he's got a big ugly baton that looks like it could crack some bones.
Casper: (<@!Michael Fisk>, where are you?)
Ryusui|GM: (yeah, you need to be working on a plan to get to the office floors 😉 )
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: *The Mouse Lady looks from far enough to not be detected, this guy was BIG! And she would need a distraction to get him out of the way... If her way involved going through his Line of Sight, that is.*
Ryusui|GM: (there's a locked door in the way and you need a way through)
Michael Fisk: (still in the public area, I've been being kinda lazy this job hanging back.)
Michael Fisk: would deal with the lock then, if it is isolated enough he would try picking it it.
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: Hmm, Maybe she can break something nearby, cause a ruckud, hide, sneak past and distract the guard long enough to get into the office undetected!
Michael Fisk: (wait, wasn't there that other set of keys on hollis still?)
Ryusui|GM: It's definitely out of the way. You'll have plenty of opportunity to work. It'll be a Thief +3 roll. (Or you could try breaking the lock, but you're not so isolated you won't attract attention!)
Ryusui|GM: (and no, Hollis didn't have any keys on him)
Michael Fisk: !f 3
DiscoDude: <@Michael Fisk> rolled 4dF+3 for 3 [4dF = [+][+][-][-]]
Michael Fisk: (shit no)
Michael Fisk: (I would have only +2)
Michael Fisk: (so I rolled a two)
Ryusui|GM: (can you invoke anything?)
Casper: (-Hiding In Plain Sight- or Susan’s chatty boost.)
Michael Fisk: (Ex-intellegence agent Anole?)
Ryusui|GM: (hey, that's a good point)
Ryusui|GM: (why don't you like)
Ryusui|GM: (roleplay asking Susan to see if she can help, and Susan tries for the keys 😉 )
Ryusui|GM: (i mean it'd give you a win)
Michael Fisk: would use his earmra communicator. "Hey, Susan, this lock is taking a bit longer then I'd like, could you keep their eyes away from me while I work?"
Ryusui|GM: ( <@!Susan>, you gonna respond? 😉 )
Susan: *Susan nods, and waves bye to Laura. She wanders off, looking at the art as she just happens to wander off to where the troublesome guard is.*
Ryusui|GM: Anyways, Melissa, tjat
Ryusui|GM: (susan there's no guard)
Ryusui|GM: (he's trying to pick the lock and needs an additional distraction)
Ryusui|GM: (or some other assistance)
Ryusui|GM: (like maybe the actual keys that the receptionist might have 😉 )
Susan: (Ah. Um.)
Ryusui|GM: Anyways, Melissa, you can deffo create a disturbance and sneak through, though you will have *very* limited time to crack that safe before the guard gets back and you'll be stuck. It'll be two separate rolls. Tell me first how you wanna make a disturbance!
Susan: *Susan waves Laura goodbye, and wanders off, looking at the art as she makes her way close to where Micheal was working. She finds another member of the staff, and tries to start up a conversation.*
Casper: (Alternatively, you could wait.)
Ryusui|GM: Susan, you interrupt the staff member *just* as they're about to stumble across FIsk's location. There's a *ka-click* and he's through.
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: Okay, Melissa will try and find anything *Fragile* that could be broken with ease.
Ryusui|GM: Michael, you have the map memorized *and* you have a known starting point, so it doesn't take long for you to find your way to...Melissa looking at a rather dangerous-looking security guard from a safe distance.
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: The sound should be enough to bring the guards to me, but Melissa should be nowhere in sight by the time they arrive!
Casper: (Did Eli get that EMP location, in the meantime?)
Ryusui|GM: (crap, my bad!)
Ryusui|GM: (okay, retroactively then)
Ryusui|GM: Eli, you did figure out the most likely location of the EMP device - in an office dead center. You relayed this info to Michael, though let's say he found Melissa before deciding what *specifically* to do next 😉
Reality Glitch: ((Aren't they on different floors, though?))
Reality Glitch: ((And I'd tell everybody who can here.))
Ryusui|GM: (the door Fisk just went through leads up to the office level)
Ryusui|GM: (and yeah, everyone knows, i'm just saying Fisk is the only one in a position to use that info)
Ryusui|GM: bear in mind, Fisk, that right now your earmera's also cut off - except for Melissa. Your earmeras can communicate with each other, but not across the field.
Michael Fisk: (how much distance would I need to close to get in to a melee range with this guy?)
Ryusui|GM: (about 20 feet. in other words, you would have to approach very stealthily in order to get the drop on him.)
Ryusui|GM: (also, <@!Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla>, Fisk just showed up, FYI)
Ryusui|GM: (if that changes your plans any XD)
Michael Fisk: "Baillie, can you make a small diversion, just get him to look the other way long enough for me to rush him."
Ryusui|GM: (well, if you knock him out, that means you won't have to worry about him coming back or calling for reinforcements! 😉 )
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: "Eh?! Uh, sure!" *Melissa scrambles to find something to throw and draw the guard's attention to!*
Casper: (“This would be an ideal outcome†says the chibi Casper in your heads.)
Ryusui|GM: Melissa, this'll be...hmm. Let's say Grifter for a change, since you *are* trying to make a convincing distraction. XD
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: ~~Hahaha xD~~
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: !f 2
DiscoDude: <@Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla> rolled 4dF+2 for 1 [4dF = [ ][ ][-][ ]]
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (GOD)
Michael Fisk: (The thing is, Michael isn't worried about being stealthy, just about closing the distance before he considers pulling a gun.)
Reality Glitch: I snicker at a chibi image of Fearow in my minds eye saying something like "This would be an ideal outcome."
Casper: (You’re not cut off from me in the bubble, and you don’t know what’s going on in said bubble, much less the outcome that imaginary-me is approving of.)
Ryusui|GM: (that's a fail, Melissa, unless you have some means of boosting it?)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (Okay, hear me out on this one)
Ryusui|GM: (fire away!)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: Melissa, being a **[Thrill-Seeker of the Worst Degree]**, literally uses herself as the bait! "Go for it before he can call reinforcements!" she squeals as the burly man sees her!
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: ~~I'm so sorry, casper~~
Casper: (*t-posing, vibrating, astral projecting* ThIs Is NoT aN iDeAl OuTcOmE.)
Reality Glitch: ((Sorry; I thought you were talking about something else.))
Ryusui|GM: Okay, so this is how it's gonna work out.
Ryusui|GM: The baddie has initiative, just as he would have if Fisk had approached, *but*
Ryusui|GM: he's gunning for Melissa on his first turn instead!
Reality Glitch: ((I just read that last comment; <@!Casper>. The image is absurd to the point of laughter.))
Ryusui|GM: after that, turn order will be FIsk and then Melissa
Ryusui|GM: Also
Ryusui|GM: i'm gonna treat that as a self-compel and flip ya a FATE Point for that, Melissa XD
Casper: (That’s the idea, RG.)
Michael Fisk: (I was gonna go with this) ~~runs with it, literally charging down the hall as if he was chasing her "Shit, shit, shit. Why does she always have to be a pain in the ass." waves at the guard. "Sorry about her."Trying to act like he belongs, untill he gets close enough.~~
Ryusui|GM: SO IT'S ACTION TIME
Ryusui|GM: <@!Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla>, the guard pulls his piece and fires at you twice!
Ryusui|GM: !f 3 (Hitter)
DiscoDude: <@Ryusui|GM> rolled 4dF+3 for 6 [4dF = [+][+][ ][+]]
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: WAIT OH GOD HE'S SHOOTING AT HER
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: ROLLING THIEF
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: !f 3
DiscoDude: <@Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla> rolled 4dF+3 for 2 [4dF = [+][-][ ][-]]
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: OH NO
Ryusui|GM: (anything you wanna boost that with?)
Ryusui|GM: (like you can survive four shifts but that'll be literally ALL your Conditions at once)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (**[Parkourist of Santa Francisca]**! Please don't maul my mouse girl just yet.)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (and by that I mean do a fancy trick ala matrix to dodge bullets.)
Ryusui|GM: (fair enough! You wanna take both your Fleeting or your Sticky?)
Ryusui|GM: ( <@!Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla>? )
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (It's an acceptable sacrifice!)
Ryusui|GM: (i mean *which*)
Ryusui|GM: (you're down to four shifts and you have two ways of taking them)
Ryusui|GM: (do you want to cash in your two 1-shift Fleeting conditions, or your 2-shift Sticky one?)
Reality Glitch: ((Remember: conditions are aspects that can be invoked, just like consequences (including the free invocation from initially taking it).))
Ryusui|GM: (fleeting goes away right after the scene, while Sticky you need to take action to correct)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (Oh, hmmmm, I think I'll take the Sticky then. Also, can you check my sheet? I think I forgot adding some of the conditions ^^;)
Ryusui|GM: (no, you're good 😉 )
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (So I just strike out the *In Peril* one?)
Ryusui|GM: (put a mark next to it, yeah)
Ryusui|GM: Well you are certainly [In Peril] to be sure, but the guard's bullets miss their mark. <@!Michael Fisk>! Time to dispense some hurt!
Ryusui|GM: (this guy has one 1-shift condition and a 2-shift condition, so it'll take at least four shifts to bring him down in one go!)
Michael Fisk: would run, closing the gap, and then would try to disarm him first.
Michael Fisk: (So create an advantage)
Michael Fisk: !f 3
DiscoDude: <@Michael Fisk> rolled 4dF+3 for 3 [4dF = [-][+][ ][ ]]
Ryusui|GM: !f 3 (hitter)
DiscoDude: <@Ryusui|GM> rolled 4dF+3 for 3 [4dF = [-][ ][+][ ]]
Ryusui|GM: (wanna invoke something, or just take the boost?)
Michael Fisk: (just take the boost) goes to grab the gun and pull it from his hand, but despite his better efforts, the guy just won't let go. Still, atleast it is aimed away from Fisk for now.
Ryusui|GM: Right, so he's -Struggling Over The Gun-! <@!Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla>, your turn to take a swing at this guy!
Ryusui|GM: ( <@!Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla>? )
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: *Melissa will take this chance to try and KICK this guy where it WILL hurt him!*
Ryusui|GM: (Righto! That'll be a Hitter roll! 😉 )
Ryusui|GM: (and don't forget there's a boost in play!)
Ryusui|GM: ( <@!Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla> if you're having trouble focusing on the game we can call it)
Ryusui|GM: (and pick up again next week)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (oh, no, it's just a friend pming me! )
Ryusui|GM: (okay so let's try to get through this action scene then)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: !f 2
DiscoDude: <@Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla> rolled 4dF+2 for 0 [4dF = [ ][-][ ][-]]
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (alright then)
Ryusui|GM: !f 3 (Hitter)
DiscoDude: <@Ryusui|GM> rolled 4dF+3 for 2 [4dF = [ ][ ][ ][-]]
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: ~~oh my God this dice~~
Ryusui|GM: You're not sure what your kick *hit* under his clothes, but you certainly felt that one more than he did! And now he's trying to reverse <@!Michael Fisk>'s grip on his gun into a chokehold!
Ryusui|GM: !f 3 (Hitter)
DiscoDude: <@Ryusui|GM> rolled 4dF+3 for 4 [4dF = [-][ ][+][+]]
Michael Fisk: !f 3
DiscoDude: <@Michael Fisk> rolled 4dF+3 for 4 [4dF = [+][-][+][ ]]
Ryusui|GM: (do you want to spend your boost to deny him a boost?)
Michael Fisk: then another +2 for him defending in melee combat
Michael Fisk: the stunt michael has, Die hard
Ryusui|GM: (oh, OH!)
Ryusui|GM: (okay nvm XD)
Ryusui|GM: He doesn't manage it, and you still have the upper hand. What next, <@!Michael Fisk>?
Michael Fisk: tries to Delive on what Baillie couldn't, kneeing the guy in the groin.
Michael Fisk: !f 3
DiscoDude: <@Michael Fisk> rolled 4dF+3 for 5 [4dF = [-][+][+][+]]
Ryusui|GM: !f 3 (hitter)
DiscoDude: <@Ryusui|GM> rolled 4dF+3 for 5 [4dF = [-][+][+][+]]
Michael Fisk: and if the boost still exists, I'm using it.
Ryusui|GM: (hell yeah)
Ryusui|GM: (that's two shifts!)
Casper: (Remember that dealing direct damage also creates an advantage under Condition-style play.)
Ryusui|GM: (he still has his 1-shift condition, but!)
Ryusui|GM: (yep)
Ryusui|GM: "GAWWWWWW!" He practically spits as you finally land the mighty crotchblow. He doesn't buckle, but you can tell it's all he can do to stay upright and continue trying to subdue you. He is well and truly [Groinkicked][!].
Ryusui|GM: <@!Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla>!
Ryusui|GM: (remember you have a free invoke on that condition!)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: *And the Brambilla girl won't back down either, she runs towards her opponent and jumps! Ready to abuse the [Groinkicked][!] Disadvantage of her opponent to land a flying kick!*
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: !f 2
DiscoDude: <@Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla> rolled 4dF+2 for 2 [4dF = [-][-][+][+]]
Ryusui|GM: !f 3
DiscoDude: <@Ryusui|GM> rolled 4dF+3 for 3 [4dF = [+][+][-][-]]
Ryusui|GM: (invoking, right? XD)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (Of course XP)
Ryusui|GM: And you connect with his chest, and he's knocked back *almost* into the wall. He's clearly [Winded][!] now, and one more good hit will knock him down.
Ryusui|GM: Of course that's not going to stop him from trying to counterattack!
Ryusui|GM: He takes an unsteady swing at you with his baton, <@!Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla>!
Ryusui|GM: !f 3 (Hitter)
DiscoDude: <@Ryusui|GM> rolled 4dF+3 for 2 [4dF = [-][+][ ][-]]
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: !f 3 (Thief)
DiscoDude: <@Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla> rolled 4dF+3 for 1 [4dF = [ ][ ][-][-]]
Michael Fisk: isn't going to let him go that easily, moving to counter the attack. (A defend action?)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (Oh, my, God.)
Reality Glitch: ((What species is the guy we just took down? I don't think you ever said; <@!Ryusui|GM>.))
Ryusui|GM: (you mean Hollis, or this dude?)
Ryusui|GM: (because Hollis was a terrier)
Ryusui|GM: (all right, Fisk, you can try to intercede, but it'll cost you your next action)
Reality Glitch: ((Oops! Thought the fight was over.))
Reality Glitch: ((The security guard.))
Michael Fisk: (I though defend actions were effectively free at the cost of being the target of the attack, but ok)
Ryusui|GM: (it's hard to tell because he's wearing a helmet. Something with a short muzzle, though, definitely.)
Michael Fisk: !f 3
DiscoDude: <@Michael Fisk> rolled 4dF+3 for 3 [4dF = [+][-][+][-]]
Ryusui|GM: And you block him. Melissa, do you want the honors of finishing him off?
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: Sure, let's try to hit this guy again!
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: !f 2 (Hitter)
DiscoDude: <@Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla> rolled 4dF+2 for 0 [4dF = [ ][-][-][ ]]
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: Well nevermind
Reality Glitch: ((Double invoke!))
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: ((RIGHT))
Ryusui|GM: !f 3
DiscoDude: <@Ryusui|GM> rolled 4dF+3 for 3 [4dF = [ ][ ][-][+]]
Ryusui|GM: (two invokes is enough to finish him)
Ryusui|GM: (flavor it!)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: *Melissa gives it one last try, she runs she jumps, but she decides to aim for the head, not with any form of flying kick, but with a ROUNDHOUSE!* "It's *luce fuori* for you!" and ***KABLAM!!***
Reality Glitch: ((Which aspects did you invoke?))
Ryusui|GM: (there was a free invoke on one of the conditions still, and...what the hell let's just say she spent a FATE Point for a second invoke; they're Aspects anyhow)
Ryusui|GM: This time, for reals, he slams into the wall. He slumps to the floor, groaning.
Ryusui|GM: The office is yours.
Reality Glitch: ((You can't invoke that same aspect more than once on a single roll unless it's the double invoke from a SwS on a Create an Advantage roll.))
Michael Fisk: "You can deal with the safe right? I am going to disable whatever is jamming our earmra signal."
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: *She shakes her leg before looking at fisk* "Don't sweat it, it will be open in a flash!"
Ryusui|GM: (you can totes use a free invoke AND a FATE Point invoke at the same time)
Ryusui|GM: (you just can't FATE Point invoke the SAME aspect multiple times in a roll)
Casper: (Same with separate, non-double free invokes.)
Reality Glitch: ((Can I get a visual confirmation on that; <@!Ryusui|GM>?))
Ryusui|GM: FIsk, the office is actually more like a server hub room. There's a lot of hardware in here and it's not entirely clear what might be the jammer.
Ryusui|GM: As for you, Melissa.
Ryusui|GM: The office is lavishly appointed.
Casper: (Even if it wasn’t technically true, if I was GM, I would say “fun trumps rules.â€)
Ryusui|GM: But among all the decor, three things stand out.
Ryusui|GM: One is the nameplate on the desk that reads "Camden Hollis."
Ryusui|GM: The second is the photograph on the desk of a group of five people - Hollis and Hazel among them.
Ryusui|GM: The third...
Ryusui|GM: ...is the gaudy picture of fruit on the wall that the safe is hidden behind.
Casper: (That would have been the flashing neon sign that cued his betrayal.)
Reality Glitch: ((I'd still like to know for the future.))
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: "Hmm... So this was the rest of the group?" *She takes a look at the picture before returning to cracking the safe, for which she took the painting off the wall.*
Michael Fisk: seriously considers systematicly unpluging everything, but there weren't any signs of re-enforcements before, and he is sure the rest of the group can handle not knowing exactly what is happening.
Ryusui|GM: <@!Michael Fisk>, it'll be a Hacker roll to find the jammer. <@!Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla>, as always, it'll be Thief.
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: !f 3
DiscoDude: <@Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla> rolled 4dF+3 for 4 [4dF = [ ][+][+][-]]
Casper: (Michael is saying that trying to unplug the jammer isn’t worth it, I think.)
Ryusui|GM: <@!Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla>, it hardly puts up a resistance. The safe is open, and...
Ryusui|GM: ...well, it would be quite a twist if the statue turned out not to be there, wouldn't it?
Ryusui|GM: Or if some mocking little trinket was left in its place
Ryusui|GM: but no
Ryusui|GM: The statue is there
Ryusui|GM: it's almost an anticlimax
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: *The anticipation kills the mous- wait what?*
Casper: (Check. For traps.)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: *Okay, Take a close look before pulling some Indiana Gators-like stunt...*
Ryusui|GM: (not even gonna make you roll, Melissa)
Ryusui|GM: The statue is clean.
Ryusui|GM: It's carved from shiny black stone, the doppelganger of the owl statue's white.
Ryusui|GM: And yes, if you examine the bottom, there's the same kind of micro-engravings.
Michael Fisk: would return to the office, since he has no buisness mucking about in a server room.
Casper: (Just saying, would have felt stupid if we fell for a trap without rolling just because we didn’t bother looking.)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: "... Aallllright then, I will just TAKE this UNPROTECTED very VALUABLE statue!" *she says out loud, but then again she took out the only guard that could hear this, so she grabs the pussycat under one arm and walks out, whistling a song.*
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: *of the OFFICE
Ryusui|GM: You meet up with Fisk on the way out. The earmeras are still dead, apart from communicating with each other.
Casper: (All that’s left is to sneak it out of the building.)
Ryusui|GM: For the record, <@!Casper>, <@Reality Glitch>, <@!Susan>, there's been radio silence from both Fisk and Melissa for several minutes.
Casper: “Susan, if they’re not out in the next five minutes, I want you heading in there.â€
Reality Glitch: At this point, not even my usual distractability is keeping me from feeling uncomfortable about having not heard from Rattata and Salandit.
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: "Alright so, I'll try to come back from the way I came, hopefully I'll get signal back once I'm out..." *She says to Fisk before trying to act upon her words, finding a duct to get out from.*
Michael Fisk: ~~(Treeko, or keckleon, or at least a few other cooler mons that are lizards.)~~
Ryusui|GM: (XD)
Michael Fisk: ~~(Agurumon)~~
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: ~~(Salandit > Keckleon, dude.)~~
Ryusui|GM: You don't have much trouble finding the duct. <@!Michael Fisk>, you gonna follow her, or take the front door?
Reality Glitch: ((Salamander. Bandit. That's the only thing that's close to a "lizard spy".))
Michael Fisk: would just leave they way he came.
Michael Fisk: (krookodile)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: Shall I roll my way out?
Ryusui|GM: FIsk, you are back on the first floor. <@!Susan>, you spot him coming out the door.
Ryusui|GM: (nah you're good Melissa)
Ryusui|GM: (in all honesty that guard was probably the final actual challenge of this session XD)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (Nice! 😌)
Reality Glitch: ((Krookodile doesn't seem as organized.))
Susan: *Sarah sighs as Fisk comes into view "How was it in there?" She asks, "We lost contact."*
Ryusui|GM: "Oh hiiiiii! Is this a friend of yours?" the staff member you were chatting up says. Conveniently, she didn't see Fisk come out of a door marked "STAFF ONLY - VISITORS PROHIBITED".
Susan: *"Eh, coworker," Susan says, giving a shrug.*
Michael Fisk: would thumb his nose "Boring, no cool hidden treasure taken from the tomb of kings, or even an Ark of the Covanant. I thought you said there was going to be a worth while exhibit."
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: *Meanwhile, Melissa sneaks through the ducts, even with an statue it's pretty easy considering she is the epitome of flexible.*
Ryusui|GM: You are indeed, Melissa. Also, you have radio contact with the others again, right before you reach fresh air.
Susan: *Susan shrugs to the staffmember. "Well, you can't always pick who you work with," She says.*
Reality Glitch: "Hello?" My voice filled with worry.
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: "Ah, finally! What happened in the outside world, my fellow thieves?!" *She looks at the sun, and then remembers how startled she was at the fact that hulk of a man tried to SHOOT her, she is gonna need a bath to clean that one off her psique.*
Reality Glitch: "Don't go towards the light!"
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: "Oh, don't worry, I can't jump *that* far!"
Casper: “Mission accomplished, I hope?â€
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: "With flying colors I would dare say!"
Reality Glitch: "But....your eyes."
Ryusui|GM: (so, folks! Back to base for a denouement?)
Michael Fisk: (yeah, I don't have anything left to do.)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (same!)
Casper: (Yeah. I was keeping an eye on both former members in the meantime.)
Susan: *Susan heads out from the museum, and looks back at it. Maybe once this was all done, she could head back and enjoy for real again...*
Ryusui|GM: So the <@&466676711379959808> is all back together in Hazel Halliday's slightly-too-small hideout.
Ryusui|GM: Hollis is still securely duct-taped to the ceiling.
Ryusui|GM: "After all these years," Hazel says, looking at the statues side-by-side, "it's finally done. The keys to destroying the Club once and for all."
Reality Glitch: `"Put them together!"`
Ryusui|GM: She looks at you, <@&466676711379959808>: "Once you place the statues together like so..." She lifts them in both hands, and puts the bottom ends together. "...the ciphertext is complete. That badge you took from Hollis is a 'code ring' of sorts; with it, you'll be able to decode the account numbers."
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: *Melissa checks it with her badge ~~Ryu the badge was from Melissa's uncle~~* "Now, what sort of weird ideas can we pull off with this?"
Ryusui|GM: (there's two badges XD)
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (Oh, right derp xp)
Ryusui|GM: (remember, you found Hollis's badge on him)
Ryusui|GM: (but Hazel doesn't know about the other badge 😉 )
Ryusui|GM: Hazel laughs. "That, I believe, is up to you. You've done what my crew couldn't. But then...you chose your allies better than I did."
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: (AH, then...please let her notice XD!)
Ryusui|GM: She looks up at the ceiling. "I imagine Hollis's fate is in your hands. All I ask is that you don't kill him. Killing was something our crew - the way I envisioned it - would never do." She smirks: "But you have my full permission to make the remainder of his life a living hell, however you would choose."
Ryusui|GM: She furrows her brow: "Wait a minute. Where'd you get a *second* Club pin?"
Casper: “Melissa’s uncle gave it to us after we completed the Dino job. Said we should correct another of his mistakes.â€
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: "Huh, This? Do you want the long story or the short story? Actually wait, there is only th- AW, Damnit Casper!"
Ryusui|GM: Hazel sighs. "Well, it's nice to know there are those who can see the error of their ways." She says it like a deliberate jab at Hollis. "Even I don't know how much is in those accounts. I suspect not even the Club knows. What kind of use could all that idle wealth be put towards?..."
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: "Helping the poor?" *Aw, she has a heart.*
Casper: “Perhaps actually paying my commission, to start. That, and to fund future missions.â€
Reality Glitch: `"Take down The Club?"`
Melissa "Baillie" Brambilla: "Right, priorities first, how silly of me!"
Susan: *Susan just sits tight, looking at the statues a little misty-eyed. After all this time..*
